OK, this is going to be long. I've put a summary at the bottom. I decided to give a long explanation as that way perhaps more people can relate to different bits of details.I'm 23, male & have cystic (inflamed) acne. I have had very mild acne since 16 (1-2 every month) but since I came back from Uni 2 years ago, my face has exploded (1-4 cystic spots every week, coupled with acne marks makes unpleasant viewing). I tried Proactiv about a year ago and it cleared me up in 1.5 months and was naturally over the moon and become overconfident. I didn't like being dependent on a 3 step programme everyday for the rest of my life so I decided to switch to a more mild cleanser. And that's when it happened,my acne became much worse and more persistent - which I have seen with a lot of other people using Proactiv. In September 2013 I became depressed and went to a dermatologist who put me on antibiotics (minocycline I think), I didn't notice much difference and after 8 weeks, I decided to quit. I didn't want to become dependent on antibiotics everyday and didn't feel comfortable taking them.In November 2013 I then started BP and the regimen, however this made my face extremely red and whilst I got no new spots, my skin was extremely dry and my acne marks just would not go away (I heard BP slows down the healing process). The worst thing about the BP is it stimulated my oil glands to work overtime, because my face was so dry after a week I noticed about 5 hours after applying, my forehead especially was secreting a large amount of oil. This made me panic and I knew would just start a battle on my face of oil production vs BP and decided enough was enough and this was not the best approach.I kept researching online and in December 2013 I found Jojoba oil (briefly it has anti-inflammatory, anti-septic and anti-bacterial properties whilst containing essential fatty acids and Vit E), since this was natural and chemical-free I thought this would be the best option long term. I firstly used it as a moisturizer but it just sat on my skin and made my face feel really greasy. I left it for 6 hours and it still didn't absorb.. so I was about to throw this product away and went to wash it off. I noticed that when I washed it away, my skin was left feeling soft and had that 'glow' i had been reading about. I researched further and saw that people used this as a cleanser.. and herein starts the real story.HOW I APPLIED IT:In the shower, I washed my hair with shampoo first (trying not to get too much water on my face) so that the steam and heat from the water would open my pores. Once my skin was damp, I then took about 2-3 drops of oil into my palm and used my index finger to dip into the oil and place on my face, massaging in a circular motion. Once all the oil was on my face I would massage for about a minute and let it rest for 30 seconds before washing it off with the shower water. It will feel like its not coming off your skin but this is normal, don't try and scape it off. Once you finish, just gently pat your face with a towel and let the rest of the oil sink in.DURATION:I had a lot of acne marks more than active cysts at this point so I was looking to see any improvement with the hyper-pigmentation. However, this didn't really help. I honestly believe time is the best remedy. Having said that, I didn't get any new acne and my skin-tone had evened out after 3 weeks. In week 4 though I noticed I had some clogged pores, but they weren't cystic - they were under the skin. At this point I nearly quit as I heard it was clogging for some people and thought my face might explode. BUT I continued and by week 8 SOME of the clogged pores came to a head (very small dot like cysts that went away with minimal marks remaining). However I still have 1 remaining clogged pore still but because it is not inflamed or red, it isn't visible and I'm confident it will come through eventually.OILINESS:After 12 weeks, my skin became 85% clear but I had one major problem. Since using BP, my face was producing excess oil. I heard Jojoba would regulate that but it didn't in this timeframe. I showered at 7am and by 3pm my face was quite shiny. I decided that I would stop the Jojoba to see if my oil would decrease. A week after I stopped I noticed a considerable reduction in oiliness so I left it off for another week. However last month (March 2014) I developed 3 large inflamed cysts on my left cheek (I NEVER had this whilst using Jojoba oil) and I'm still recovering from the marks. I decided to go back to Jojoba but cut it down to 1 drop for my entire face. I did this for 3 weeks but the oiliness was roughly the same as using 2-3 drops.PRESENT:So 3 weeks ago I decided again to come off Jojoba, and for 2 weeks it was great, my oiliness was reducing by the second week and had no new cysts - I finally thought I'd beaten acne! I decided to swap the Jojoba for ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) toner followed by Aloe Vera gel in the evenings instead of the morning. I heard ACV can balance oil production and remove acne marks (I had a few left on my left cheek). I diluted 50/50 with water and had no irritation... Then last Friday I developed one HUGE spot on my right cheek and 4 more large cysts on the right hand side of my face. I'm now back on Jojoba in the morning shower since Sunday and there is gradual reduction in the inflammation which I expect to clear by next week but will have more marks to deal with which will probably take another 2 months.COMMENTS:I think Jojoba is great, it did what I wanted and cleared up my cystic acne. It takes a long time to be effective, 8 - 12 weeks to see the full benefit. However I have 2 (perhaps minor) issues with it: It causes some clogged pores (although not inflamed) which take forever to reach a head... It's not visible but you know its there which is frustrating. Secondly it didn't reduce my oil production (in fact my skin was more oily). Although, strangely enough even though my skin was oily I never broke out whilst on Jojoba. My theory is this is because that if my pores became blocked, they would be unclogged the next morning by Jojoba. I've heard it can take 6 months or more for skin oil to become regulated so maybe this is a premature criticism.BLOCKED PORES AND NEW REGIMEN:Jojoba oil is NOT non-comedogenic (for those who hate double negatives, jojoba IS COMEDOGENIC). It has a rating of 2/5 on the comedogenic scale (0 being non-clogging and 5 being certain to clog pores) and so this is why people break out from it. I've now discovered a new oil which I am beginning this week which has a comedogenic rating of 0 (Yes - ZERO, it will not clog pores at all). I am replacing Jojoba with this and will use it for 12 weeks or more. I want to see if it is as effective whilst being able to control oil production and not cause clogged pores. I am going to post this same review on acne.org but with updates on this new oil. Please feel free to follow me if your interested.BRAND & PRODUCT - Tisserand are great, this is organic, unrefined and cold pressed. The highest quality. It is fitted with a dropper so only release a drop at a time and since you really don't need that much it will last forever (not literally). I purchased in December and I'm not even 25% through yet. Another point is that Jojoba is known as a 'stable' oil, meaning it will not go rancid or deteriorate in quality over time. Other oils need to be stored in a dark & cold place.SUMMARY:PRO'S- Clears cystic acne- Reduces inflammation- Makes skin 'glow'- Prevents new breakoutsCON'S- Can clog pores- Did not reduce oiliness after 3 months use- Requires 8 - 12 weeks to see significant improvement- Does not fade acne marks/scarsIf your skin is not suitable then I think you will know in a week. I had a small 'purging' phase but my face didn't explode, I just had small cysts come to a head. If after a week you are breaking out badly, I wouldn't continue using it - it is usually bad sign in my experience.Having said that if you don't see anything/minor improvements then keep going. With any treatment I have to remind you as I've learned - persistence prevails. It will take time to see results. I don't think absorbing chemicals through our skin everyday is beneficial in the long term - it creates more toxins that your liver has to remove.Best of luck friends.*EDIT* As discussed below, it appears my acne was caused by an allergic reaction to gluten. I would recommend, if you are also suffering from acne, to try an elimination diet and stop eating all known allergen foods (wheat, eggs, milk etc) for 1 month and then re-adding each allergen back into your diet to find the culprit. Hope this helps.

I have combination, allergy prone skin and have always been hesitant to use any oil on my face on it due to blemishes from allergies. I have always stuck with oil free moisturisers to keep it 'balanced' but they end up making my skin dry and tight feeling.Never believed oil could work for my skin and have run a mile from anything of the sort. This grapeseed oil is THE BEST thing that has ever happened to my skin and I would thoroughly recommend trying it for these reasons:1) My skin feels much more balanced and moisturised, despite being combination skin. This is not only from the vitamin C,D and E in the oil, but the oil forms a natural barrier to water loss in the skin so it retains its own moisture better.2)My skin is plumper and more supple, never feeling dry as before. My makeup looks better on my face on a happier, supple skin.3) My pores are more even, and I have less blemishes. I suspect the oil also forms a natural barrier to bacteria, excess oil and allergens resting on your skin due to reduction in blemishes which I have experienced.4) Using the oil as a moisturiser is also relaxing after a shower that I enjoy using it on my face.It says on the bottle not to apply it neat but to dilute with a carrier oil, but I use it neat at night after a shower to get the best use of the vitamins and antioxidants in the bottle, this does not cause problems for me at all even though my skin is sensitive. (I try not to use in the morning as it will cause makeup to slide off) The oil goes into the skin quickly at night within 10-15 mins and has a neutral, pleasant smell.Honestly if you are skeptical, try it for 3 nights in a row and see how you feel. I don't think I will ever go back to standard moisturisers again. Grapeseed oil is the way forward, and this is a quality product.

Im 22 and ive suffered from mild acne for the past 6 years. Ive tried literally everything, cheap and expensive, been ripped off and ruined my skin trying all these different products. Ive also been on antibiotics on and off, and topical treatments from my GP as well as being referred to the dermatologist who also couldnt help! And my acne is not THAT bad so it was even more frustrating that I couldnt get rid of it for so many years. It really puts your confidence down to have all that on ur face. Only a fellow acne sufferer would understand! Anyway, i decided to keep it 100% natural, to the point where I even make my own face mask! Ive cut out all treatments from the GP and any other crap, keeping it as natural as possible. My sister in law recommended that although she does not have acne, only the occasional breakout. So i decided to go for jojoba oil after reading the reviews on how good it has been for acne. Firstly it is SO moisturising, but lovely and light! I mix a couple drops in my moisturiser in the morning and i love it. I just love the texture of this oil, so smooth and absorbed very quickly. At night i mix 5 drops of this with 2 drops of trilogy rosehip oil and one drop argan oil and my acne has shrunk ALOT! The spots are practically gone, just small bumps and pimples left, and my acne scars which will obviously take longer to dissapear. But so far i am loving this oil. Natural treatments take alot longer to work but the main thing ive learnt is be CONSISTENT! Dont give up!! It will work!! God has given us everything we need to live a healthy life, we just have to cut out all the nonsense and go back to basics. If you are in a similar situation, please give it a try. You've got nothing to lose! All the best! Xx

i love this product. As an asian in UK, i had a hard time looking for the right moisturizer for my skin when the cold dry winter comes. My T area and cheeks got red, chapped and irritated few weeks ago due to the winter dryness, i've tried different moisturizers and masks which claim to reduce redness but none helps. So i started doing research online and found this jojoba oil which people say does wonder on dry and acne prone skin. I used to have acne problem and so i was skeptical about apply oil on my face, but having read that this oil can mimic the effect of natural skin oil and signifies the skin not to produce excessive oil for acne growth, i decided to give it a try. This product comes in a nice little bottle, wrapped with bubbled paper. To try, I applied it after washing my face at night, it felt calming and not oily at all because my skin quickly absorbed the oil. Not only does it not irritate my acnes, it soothes my problematic skin and it feels so "protected". The next morning, my chapped cheeks were half gone and the acne were less obvious and my face looks less red than usual.I have to say this is a very good product and that i don't usually do reviews like this unless it is really good. These days when my period is here, i notice i have better looking skin and less acne which is unusual because my face always look dull and has break out during menstruation. i think it could be due to the anti-dioxant in the oil.Overall, i am truly pleased with this oil, i hope more people having my skin type will be benefited from this review. :)

This oil (grapeseed) is like magic in a bottle!I've had acne prone skin (and bad acne in the past) for about 17 years now - tried everything.. I've even tried numerous other oils (rosehip, argon, hemp, etc), which only ever made things worse. But, after researching and reading about linoleic/oleic acid, I came across grapeseed oil..I chose Tisserand because I have numerous other products by them and they are all very high quality and potency.. This oil was no different. How I use it:Take a 1p size amount and massage it firmly into your face for around 1 minute. This will make you feel a few tiny, grainy bits under your fingers - these are the sabaceous filaments coming out of your skin!(it's so satisfying, ha).. Then I use Cerave wash (either the hydrating cream cleanser, or the foaming green bottle one)... It removes all the oil really well. Next I add 1 to 2 drops of the oil into my palm and rub it into my hands, then gently and lightly press my palms all over my face.. So it acts as a sort of light moisturiser too.The result I've had with this is incredible.. I very rarely get any breakouts now, and my skin just glows! Honestly.. My face looks younger, no need for any eye creams.. My skin is luminous. And it looks so much cleaner/clearer too after removing the filaments.I HIGHLY recommend the grapeseed oil and will continue to buy this brand. The price is good and the oil exceptional, so I have no need to look elsewhere.

For a good few years I have struggled to find a product that agrees with my dry, very sensitive and spot prone skin. I have tried many well known, and at times far too expensive (for my salary) products, all of which claiming to be specially formulated for my type of skin. These so called 'wonder products' (as advertised) have all triggered either some kind of allergic reaction, skin becoming increasingly dry that it hurts, or that I developed more spots than I initially had. Anyhow, to cut a long story short. This oil has really worked for me. I add a couple of drops to my usual moisturiser at night and as a result my skin is looking better and better each week of use.It did take a little time for my skin to adapt, no visual signs initially, but after a few weeks brilliant! My skin feels soft and supple, dry patches have improved greatly and my spots, namely around my chin, cheeks and forehead have cleared by 50% easily. For the past few days I have had the confidence to wear very little make-up. Its a fab oil!Its worked for me so i say 'definately give it a go!' Warning however, it is an oil, does make you look rather shiny, so maybe apply at night or at least half an hour before work giving it some time to sink into the skin.

Im 22 and started to get acne when i was about 18, only recently have i tried to do something about it. i have been using topical antibiotics, lots of different products for acne prone skin which have dried my face out loads. I wanted a moisturizer which was non-commedogenic, and after browsing on the internet i came across jojoba oil. This stuff is seriously amazing!!Not only has it moisturize my dry skin, it improved my old acne scars after using it just twice! do not be put off by the fact its an oil, it is more waxy and contains properties similar of seben, tricking your skin into not producing more seben than it needs so my spots have actually stopped too!Im stopping all the harsh products and antibiotics and sticking to this!I put a lot on at night, then in the morning i just add a couple of drops to my moisturizer as if u use too much it may make you a bit shiny if you have oily skin. Also its great as a cleanser, eye make-up remover, lip balm and before you shave. AMAZING!!!! Although i did try a bit on my hair and made it look a bit greasy. But try it now!!

Very good product and an excellent size. Has a multitude of uses but I have mainly used this in my hair, both alone and with rosemary oil as a mask and it's brilliant. Use about 3 to 5 fair spoonfuls of jojoba oil and warm it up slightly in the microwave then add 5 drops of jojoba oil and use it as a hair mask for as long as you want it in your hair - I cover it with a towel to keep the heat in then just shampoo it out - I usually shampoo twice to make sure it's all out. My hair is silky soft every time and it keeps it from getting greasy. I usually have to wash my hair everyday as it's oily but after using this, I only do it every other day.I don't use it every time but as a treatment mask when I have time as I like to keep it in as long as possible.I also use it as a conditioner on my fringe but you literally need the tiniest amount otherwise it can make your hair sticky. Works much better as conditioner can make the skin errupt a bit but jojoba is a bit more gentle when it's lying on your skin. Will defo be purchasing again.

Arrived so quickly, within 2 or so days and in great condition. The bottle is small, as expected, but just using it as a beauty oil for its skin enriching properties so will use it sparsely anyway. I wanted to try this oil out, so I will see how long this bottle lasts me and then decide whether this is economically viable. Not a bad price; I strive to buy ethical products from ethical companies where possible - the quality of the products are a hallmark to the practices used. This is why it is also a good oil, if you are going to buy something for use on yourself, or for your health etc, then I suggest buying a quality product like this - rich in colour which is a sign of its quality. Why buy something cheaper which is going to have minimal effect, when you can get the real thing. It is a waste of money to do otherwise I think. And you do get what you pay for. It doesn't have a strong odour, and soaks easily into damp skin.

Bought it for me to help clear my cystic acne prone skin, tone up before the lines go deep and generally get my face fixed before hitting 40. Worth a go thought I, but it has only been a few days so the jury is still out.Discovered jojoba is good for dogs so tried on my sweet sappy poochkin who has been plucking her fur out like a chicken in response to an unknown allergen. Other dog potions and lotions caused her to take flight squealing and flailing but she discovered she likes this. To her own disgruntlement she now permits a massage of this in her itchy red flesh - albeit she likes to have a taste after. She aims to frenchie to bottle when she realises it is the good stuff coming her way.Bit strange, unprecedented but a happier hound. No major scent, can mix with other aromatherapy items, it is not a 'greasy' oil and little bottle but as described. Could maybe find cheaper but who knows eh?

I stopped shaving with foams and creams a few years ago because they cause my face to get far too irritated as I have sensitive skin. Now I only shave using oils, Jojoba oil to be exact. I used to buy one from holland and barrett but they dont sell it anymore so i was forced to look elsewhere. This one is just as good if not even better. A little goes a long way, this bottle lasts for long time. Unlike other brands this one is really good it does not cause me any irritation and shaving is a breeze. Because its a oil it is natural for your skin and another bonus is that it is transparent so you can shape up your beard easily. It does not have a very strong scent either, the last one i tried smelled like nuts.Jojoba oil has many uses beyond a shaving cream it can be added to a moisturiser as well. I will be buying this one from now as it serves my needs.

jojoba is a very difficult essential oil in that most on the market are terribly diluted and have a sweet fragrance which is far from the true characteristics of the oil itself. I ordered this brand and was hopeful - when it arrived the colour was perfect (one box ticked) and the smell was bland but true to Jojoba (another box ticked) - I use this on my twin baby girls and myself as a bath oil (superb), body oil (truly moisturing) and as a hair oil (the sebum we naturally create on our scalp identical to Jojoba) so our hair thrives when this oil is used! I also use as a night oil for my face - in the morning I always have a fresh glow :-)(I am a brown coloured lady)Overall I am truly impressed with this product and will continue purchasing my essential oils from Tisserand! Glad that quality still exists!!!!???

Been using this for more than 8 months now. Compared to other brands (including H&B) which are often a bit cheaper, this one does a much better job. The texture is smoother. And the difference is clear when I use it on my skin. I have oily skin and I use this is a night cream. Tisserand produces much better effects - smoother skin and blemishes also disappear eventually - compared to other brands. On my dry frizzy hair too this one works better than others. It isn't that the others are completely useless, but there is noticeable difference in degrees of smoothness of skin and hair. I used it on blemishes on my shoulders as well and those also disappeared. Can single-handedly replace entire shelf of harir/skin care products.

I bought this after researching a natural way to treat oily, spot prone skin. I was dubious this would work, especially as I usually have to take antibiotics to control my acne. It has been quite the revelation. I mix this in with my moisturiser - 2 drops in the morning and 4 to 5 before bed (I still use only BP on spot prone areas at night). Not only does my skin look really good but it has completely balanced out my oily t-zone something I have never achieved in 20 years through a myriad of other products, both basic and premium. A miracle! No need for constant make-up touch ups. The jojoba oil is also going someway to reduce the acne scarring. A fantastic product and quite a relief.

I use it regularly for my hair. Every 3 days, I apply it generously over my hair and sleep with the oily hair and wash the hair next morning. I wrap the hair in towel for a while to soak up the water and let my hair air dry.....This oil has certainly made a difference as my hair is less frizzy and my hair looks better than when it is blow dried (Although it could also because the difference I have made in handling my hair with gentle care while shampooing). Now I don't spend a fortune on hair products. This oil along with Toni&guy damage repair shampoo and conditioner are the things working for my hair....I would recommend this oil to everyone with Indian hair texture
