The Walking Dead is an adventure game in which the player controls the character of Lee Everett. Lee is on his way to prison for murder at the onset of the zombie outbreak in Atlanta. A crash on the highway leaves him free, dazed, confused, and surrounded by a pack of hungry walkers - and this is where you pick up the story proper. The game is played from a third-person perspective, using a variety of cinematic camera angles for dramatic effect, and is split into a number of TV like episodes, each with their own title. Before each episode you will be provided with a recap of the previous episode ('Previously, on the Walking Dead...'), and at the end of each episode you will glimpse a preview of the next one ('Next week on The Walking Dead...').Its all very authentic, and incredibly effective at recreating the tone and feel of the TV show. The game played almost like a traditional style 'point and click' adventure. You control the character of Lee with one control stick, whilst moving a target reticule with the other control stick. Moving the target reticule over a point of interest will provide you with a number of options or interactions - such as to pick up an item, look inside something, analyse something etc - and these actions can be confirmed via the D-pad.Action sequences are usually conducted via quick-time events, requiring you to hit the correct button combinations or press a button rapidly in order to complete the desired action, which might be fighting off a zombie with your bare hands, escaping a horde of walkers, or forcing your way into a building.Whilst there is zombie killing in the game, this is usually reserved to the occasional skirmish (although later in the game there are one or two outstanding confrontations with much larger groups of walkers). The truth is that much like the television show it is the living who are the real stars of the game, rather than the dead.Along you adventure you will meet dozens of other survivors (including a few who fans of the show or comic book will recognise) - chief amongst them being Clementine, a young girl left on her own and for whom you make it your ultimate mission to help locate her missing parents. Each character is incredibly well designed, with the graphics being in a cell-shaded style and the art being somewhat similar to that found in the Walking Dead comic book, and the quality of voice talent involved in the production of the game really is outstanding. The real beauty of the game is how you interact with these characters, and how they relate to you. Some people are genuinely nice, others frictious and belligerant, others still may have the appearence of a friendly face but hide flaws or secrets which expose them as a danger or liability later on in the game, some of them just straight out hate you. ALL of them have their own opinions about the decisions you make and about what they feel would be the best way to proceed. It is almost impossible to please all of the people all of the time. Let me assure you that no matter how much you try to appease the rest of the survivors, you will never acheive total consensus amongst the group, and more often than not you will come out of an interaction having tried your very best to do what you genuinely feel was the right thing, but left feeling like the lowest of scumbags.Different people require different approaches. Reveal a distastful truth about yourself and some will respect your honesty, where as others will consider you a monster. Deny an adult rations because you want to feed the children, and some characters will admire you for putting the kids first, but others will resent you for feeding people who are of little practical use to the group. In the case of reoccurring characters these decisions have a cumilative effect over time.It is possible with effort to redeem a persons trust after making a decision they strongly disliked, but it is far easier to send a seemingly rock solid relationship spiralling out of control with one single misplaced word or action. Its powerful stuff, and forces you to consider whether trying to be a nice guy is the best approach at all, or whether being selfish, aggressive, or even violent might be the better way to go. Just bear in mind that whatever approach you choose, and whatever decisions you make, almost every decision has incredible significance and there WILL be a reckoning!By far the most important aspect of the game however are the various 'crossroads' you will find yourself at, where you are forced to make one choice or another - often with very little time to ponder the ramifications of your decision. Be warned, ALL choices come with reprocussions, they may literally be life and death for you and the characters around you, or alternatively may appear utterly mundane and irrelevent at the time but become crucial several episodes later.I cant criticise this game in the slightest - there really arent enough superlatives to describe it, and it deserves every award it won plus many more. It is a unique and powerful example amongst computer games that will have a profound effect upon the player. It gets my very highest recommendation.

In the top 5 lists for every game released in the last 10 years, The Walking Dead should be in the top 3 every time, and it will certainly make a large amount of entries at number 1 in that list. The Walking Dead is a gripping game and the thing that makes this game so incredible is its story. The characters are so well developed, so varied and contain in my opinion, the greatest two main characters a game has ever seen. You play as Lee Everett, on his way to prison after committing a crime which you will later find out about, when the police car crashes into a walker (a zombie). From here, Lee has to try and survive, and he stumbles upon a house whereby he meets a girl named Clementine, and sets out to protect her from the dangerous world which is unfolding in front of them. The game is split into 5 episodic adventures, which were originally released a month or two apart from each other. This is such a superb format to have, you can literally sit down in an evening, go through an episode (each episode is around 2 and a half hours) and it keeps me so much more gripped than any tv show on TV or any film I have recently seen. There are a number of "choices" you must make throughout the game, which greatly influence the game and who joins you in your mission to survive. In addition to this, the gameplay is very much point and click here, however it is kept extremely tense by circumstances where enemies will advance on you and you must search frantically for something to help you fend these enemies off. Its exhilarating and so much fun. Please do not hesitate to try this game, as long as you like a good story and solid gameplay, this game will blow you away, I am a firm believer that there has never been a better story in any video game than this one, and that Lee Everett and Clementine are the GREATEST video game characters ever created. You will not regret this one.

Without a doubt one of the best games i have ever played. At first you see the camera view and the gameplay and think this is a bit new which in fact it is new and is very smartly set up.A game where your decisions make a impact throughout the walking dead makes the story line so much more fun as you decide which route you would like to take. Instead of like most games and the walking dead survival instincts (shocking) you don't really have as much freedom as you would in the other games but i see this as a perk in some ways as free roam games are no longer hard to find.Graphics : Very decent graphics considering this is a arcade release. You have to credit the dev team for the efforts in the graphics but overall the story line was that fun you kind of forget about the graphics. 7/10Gameplay : As i said earlier its a unique type of gameplay not the pick up a gun and roam around like a nutter game. The AI drag u into the story which is good at times as in most cases for me when playing a open world free roam style game i tend to wonder off. There are some minor glitches in the game it self like some objects are just hard to grab at times and bringing up the pause menu is a bit of a pain as it has like a 15 second delay overall 7/10Story Line : EPIC story line brilliantly set up loved it :D . 10/10So basically if your a fan of Zombie or survival games and fancy something different then i highly recommend this game as it is brilliant.Overall Rating : 9/10

Telltale's The Walking Dead isn't your average zombie game where you kill everything in sight to get through the missions or solely for a higher score. The story is based on Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead, which this game follows faithfully the story in the comic book edition and here you play as Lee one of the survivors who encounters a little girl and helps her getting through the zombie apocalypse, meeting new people and foes.As for the gameplay, this is 98% of the time a point and click game, but a couple of times there'll be the opportunity for some small quick time event action or shooting zombies. The episodes themselves will make you feel like taking the game very seriously, and I do suggest that people over 16+ or even 18+ play this game, because there are some really disgusting scenes which teenagers may not be prepared to see in a video game or wherever at all.Lastly, the game comes with case, cover, manual and disc. Alternatively this is on Xbox LIVE available digitally for 400 MSP (£3.50) each episode, although you'd pay for one episode at a time you would be getting a better deal with the disc edition for £24.76 whereas the digital edition would save you about £7.26 which really isn't much considering what this is. It's definitely a must buy, don't miss out!

The walking dead.Addictive story based game. Not a shoot em up.Characters are fleshed out well. Those that play nice, will find even they may find it hard to be nice to the purposely created irritating characters. No worries, because there are also lovable characters. The story is amazingly addictive and if you stick out till the end, there is an ending that beats many of the endings of recent games.Lee and Clementine are just some of the most memorable characters I've come across recently. I love these two and their interaction with one another. My bug bear is that the choices don't make as much impact as you would like it to in some situations. Sometimes things in life are out of your control, same goes for a few things in this game. Still it's a compelling story, with great characters.Graphic wise, it's very charming, I love the almost comic book style of it.I can't wait till the next instalment. Also, no idea why there are two description, the bottom one is wrong, It's Lee Everet you take charge of, not Rick Grimes.

This game is sensational and is unlike any game i have ever played. I had only heard good things about this game (over 80 game of the year awards) and when i heard that there would be a disc release i was over the moon. This game is a 'point and click' game where you make decisions that influence the course of the story. The game is broken down into 5 episodes which took roughly 2 hours each to complete and each episode is exciting, clever and you are put in situations where you have to make some difficult choices. Its a shame that this game was not given as much publicity as "Survival Instinct" as this is The Walking Dead game that every fan wanted and puts the terrible "Survival Instinct" to shame,if you are thinking of buying a TWD game then make sure it is this one and not that other rubbish.

With a game mechanic and story that makes you feel so involved in the characters lives, this game, beautifully scored and capturing the best of both good writing and a zombie apocalypse. The story feels believable to the last second, you don't get to fly helicopters and gun down hordes of undead from a jeep mounted machine gun, its a real story, grounded and beautiful. All the characters are so complex and 3 dimensional that you never feel like you're playing a game, it feels like an interactive TV show, where you care about the characters and what you do counts. The choice system hopefully gets more fleshed out in series two as you are still quite hemmed in by the plot, however if you only play through it once, you won't notice. To me its the best game I've ever played.

Very pleased on the content as well as the delivery of the game. One of telltale games best games! It constantly has twists and turns in the story depending on which decision you make and will keep you gripped until the unexpended ending. A brillent purcase for both beginner and experianced gamers. It has more than one file, which is good for multiple gamers (has three files). Only flaws lie in the cutscenes of the game which sometimes pause and lag; however this shouldn't effect the gameplay.A very emotional and hooking game which makes use of its surroundings.Antipating for the next follow-up in the telltale games The Walking Dead series!

This is probably the best game I have ever played in terms of emotion and storytelling. This is a story telling game, which means you dont run around bashing zombies heads in, you play the game in sync with the stroy developments such as finding a way through a door, finding ways out of dangerous situations, making the right choices which also change the story line.I dont like long reviews all I can say is I downloaded all episodes of season 1 (season 2 coming soon) andits the best game in terms of story Ive ever played and you are missing out if you dont buy.

I am unable to comment about the game itself because it was purchased for my son who loves the 'Walking Dead' series. My son tells me it's great and he loves it......I was delighted with the seller because the customer service was fantastic. I had issues wit my payment method and was aware this could have held up delivery.....but it didn't. The game arrived 5 days earlier then expected and was described accurately. I would like to thank the seller and I will purchase from them again. Thanks

The Walking Dead game is a good play in my opinion, the choices you have to make can be difficult and there is an emotional feel about it. Its not your standard walking around bashing zombies heads in kind of game, you have to think about what to do and how to respond to the other characters. The only down side I found really is that the game is completed fairly quickly compared to most others, but there is so many choices to make you'll probably end up completing it a few times.

This game is the one to but special for all walking dead fans or fans if just zombie games! First look looks a bit cartoonie but you soon look past that as the game begins and begins to look more real.. And you get lost in the great story as it unfolds.. Great story line that you get to take part in making different dissiscions every time you play! Awesome and a def must buy :) top marks all round.

i didnt purchase the game from amazon but instead bought it from the shops and was thrilled with it as i am a big walking dead fan and it didnt fail to deliver a strong story and moral dilemmas but the only problem was that on a particular part of the game when you are trying to escape from cannibals the game kept glitching which was very annoying.this aside i recommend it.

21.4.2016

Disappointed to see this one end. Great story, really good characters and interesting play. Figuring out what to do and pressing buttons at the right time as well as making choices as to what to say to decide how the story goes may not be for everyone but it soon had me gripped and after getting bored with diablo 3,this was just what i needed, loved it.

I chose this game for my husband and he loves it, it is different from most games as you are given choices and different choices have different results the only complaint my husband has was it takes a little while to load when you make a decision about something so maybe should be on two discs instead of the one. But overall a brilliant game.
