'walking Dead: The Final Series' is, as you may have deduced, the last game in Telltale's series of games set in the Walking Dead comic book universe.Fans are lucky to be seeing it at all when you consider that the company went into bankruptcy last year with only two of the four episodes contained in this game having been released at that point, and serious concerns about whether the game would ever be completed, and whether this single-release would ever hit the market. You have Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman himself to thank for the fact you're playing this game (and I'm reviewing it), because his company Skybound Entertainment finalised negotiations to ensure the final two episodes were finished. Was it worth the effort and the wait though? The answer in my opinion is a resounding 'yes'.This season begins an unspecified amount of time after the previous game ('A New Frontier') finished, but clearly several years later as it's main star Clementine is now a mid-teen, and her ward AJ (Alvin Junior) a child of perhaps seven or eight.Following a beautifully illustrated recap during which you can confirm your choices made in previous games by importing a save, or alternately choose what key decisions you would have made if not saved data is available, the game starts with Clem and AJ on the road, tired and hungry, and constantly on the move to avoid the hordes of the undead at which point the need for supplies convinces Clem to investigate a nearby abandoned railway station.Naturally the station is far from truly abandoned, and Clem and AJ find themselves attacked by a large group of the undead. They attempt to escape but Clem crashes and overturns their vehicle, trapping and seemingly dooming them both until they are saved by a mysterious group of survivors.Passing into unconsciousness, Clem wakes up in what appears to be a derelict school at which point she discovers that her saviors are in fact a group composed entirely of children of various ages who had been abandoned in the school by their adults when the outbreak occurred, and it's here that the game proper begins as Clem and AJ find themselves embroiled in what could be considered the post-apocalyptic equivalent of 'Lord of the Flies', and Clem has to find a way not only to teach AJ to survive in the post-apocalytic world, but also how to retain his humanity in a place where people often have none.As with previous installments from Telltale, the game is played from a third-person perspective, using a variety of cinematic camera angles for dramatic effect and also comes divided into several TV and/or comic book-like episodes, which all contributes to a style that emulates those mediums extremely well. The game plays almost like a traditional style 'point and click' adventure. You control your characters movement with one control stick, whilst moving a target reticule with the other control stick. Moving the target reticule over a point of interest will provide you with a number of options or interactions - such as to pick up an item, look inside something, analyse something, speak to another character etc - and these actions can be confirmed via one of the four buttons. The games action sequences and combat are usually played out utilising a series of quick-time events requiring the gamer to hit the correct buttons or sequences in order very similar to that used in Telltales other adventure games.Of course, as with all of the other games from Telltale, the real key to playing is decision making, with a branching storyline that changes depending upon what you choose to do at key junctures. Those decisions may involve actions - such as making choices in combat like which way to turn, or which assailant to attack, but more commonly however they occur in dialogue with other characters you meet during your adventure.Decisions are TOUGH. Rarely is a conversation choice ever straight forward or obvious, and rarely is it ever possible to appease all parties involved when you make a decision or predict how that conversation choice will effect the story in future episodes. Often it is not even possible to make a 'winning' decision, as you are left to choose from what is essentially a series of bad options of varying degrees or make a decision that may please one person but inevitably alienate another. You also have to consider the types of people you are required to relate to and how your actions will influence them, and consider whether honesty really is always the best policy. Different people require different approaches and all will remember the decisions you make, which for better or worse may effect how they relate to you in future. Staying silent and saying nothing in any given exchange is almost always an option, and can sometimes be the smartest course to take. Its all brilliantly done and helps create a game in which you will agonise over almost every choice you make - but dont agonise for too long, because the pressure is always on and you will almost always have a limited amount of time to make your decision. If that time runs out then the game will make your decision for you.Graphically the series has constantly evolved since the first game, and this season gives us perhaps the best, most vibrant, most fluid graphics so far. Characters, locations and backgrounds are created in a bright, colourful style reminiscent of a comic book, and action sequences have also been turned up a notch and are now more exciting and dynamic than ever before. There's a couple of new additions to game play too, such as the option to cripple or stun zombies to make them easier to ultimately kill. Another additional is that the combat requires you to aim in order to deliver a killing blow to a zombie by lining up a crosshair with a target area, with failing to do so possibly leaving you in all kinds of trouble. There is also the ability to find various collectables throughout the game with which to decorate your room back at the school which will serve as your base of sorts and to which you will return after each episode. In terms of complaints I have almost none. loading screens are quite frequent as they occur between each scene as the game autosaves, and there is always a brief delay at the beginning of each new screen before you can move your character, but that's as bad as it gets. Its an excellent game filled with drama, compelling characters, and tough moral choices - a worthy final chapter to perhaps one of the greatest video game series of all time. Fans of the Walking Dead franchise, fans of this particular genre of game, or those who have enjoyed Telltales previous efforts with the likes of their Game of Thrones franchise will all love it - it's just a shame that this will be the last time we all get to experience it.

I love the telltale series. I played the first 3 seasons in preparation for this one and it hasn't disappointed. I love this game so much and I can't wait to play more.I've dropped a star because there are only 3 episodes on the disc, despite it telling you it contains the whole season. If you want the 4th and final episode to this season you need to go online to download it. Once you download it though, the whole game refuses to work. I've tried it several times. Uninstalled, reinstalled. Deleted the updates, downloaded them again. Won't get past the title. If I'm offline I can replay the first 3, but 4th one registers as 'not installed'. After going online and downloading it again, the whole game crashes.I hope they fix this issue soon because I really want to finish my playthrough!UPDATE: 14th October 2019 - I finally got to play the 4th episode all the way through with no crashes and it was worth it.

Telltale games made a whole host of games, but the walking dead series was by far one of the best. Although none of the later seasons can compare to the first, I was glad they were able to finish this game and release it on disc. The game does have its bugs (don't they all) and I had to restart at certain checkpoints as my character would just get stuck and was unable to move at all. This is a fitting end to the walking dead series and makes you wish telltale would still be around to make great story telling games.

I've been playing the telltale walking dead series for over a solid 7 years now..( 7 years?!? where did that time go!).All I can say is, this is easily one of the best seasons they ever did. It will make you feel things like you've never felt before...EnjoyAs much as I'm extremely grateful that skybound continued development, it pains me to see one of my favourite game series of all time end. Hopefully, this game will be continued to play by many generations to come.

Throughout the game I wanted to expand on some of my decisions. Like sometimes the characters took what I said the wrong way. Other than that the game is a decent last instalment.Apart from I wish the ending would of gone one or 2 ways. Not going to spoil it, but having just one ending no matter what choices you made throughout the game was a bit of a let down.

[WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS]The most amazing way to end the final season of the walking dead. Hands down the best Season of all the walking dead seasons. Clementine's story ends beautifully. Clementine LIVES! So does her Girlfriend Violet, her mother/son relationship with AJ and her great bond with her friends. The most amazing way to finish the final season.

This is for the final season only.Game is really easy to play you chose your backstory in the beginning and the story tailors to the choices you make. Honestly fairly easy and simple mechanics. Progress saves occur frequently loading times can sometimes take a while but it’s not too bad. For the sale price I think it’s worth it.

The walking dead final season comes to a very strong gripping ending. Which holds the strong of friendship until the end as it started. The compelling plot becomes increasingly immersive as the chapters go on and leaves players with a satisfying ending to one of Telltales best game series.

Rip telltale ?the walking dead games started to get so much better every season.. I really enjoyed playing them but I feel towards the end the episodes were a little faster to play through. Would have been nice if they would have made them a lil more interactive like in the season 1/2..

This game is brilliant. It always made me want to keep playing and there was never a dull moment. The gameplay is a lot different to the previous seasons but it makes it a whole lot better. Would 100% recommend to any walking dead fan!

Thoroughly enjoyed all the TWD series but have to say I’m a little disappointed at the last season. I’ve a feeling telltale going out of business made them rush this game, Still a really enjoyable game but could’ve been so much more.
