I really like this pan. I've cooked various vegetable dishes in it, and each have come out far nicer than if I'd used a regular multipurpose pan. Okay, that's unlikely - apart from the fact that this pan is of a far better quality to my normal ones.So this comes with a thermo spot; something Tefal have been doing for years as far as I recall. This one is shaped like a flower, with smaller "petals" surrounding the larger centre spot. According to the instructions, the petals change from purple to green once the pan is at 140 degrees; the ideal temperature for cooking veg apparently. Contrary to some of the other reviewers of this item, I've not managed to get the spot to change colour at all.I've not used a thermometer to test the actual temperature, but the pan was certainly hot enough to cook my food, and the food did taste good.Despite the spot not doing anything, I do really like the pan. It's very heavy compared to my other pans, but it's delightfully non-stick, and really easy to clean (so far). I've yet to try non-vegan friendly foods on it, but having read other reviews where they've done so without causing food poisoning etc, I'm happy to give it a go.It seems to me that the only reason this is flagged as a vegetable pan, is to make people think that's a real thing, thus forcing them to buy the Tefal Meat Frying Pan and the Tefal Egg Frying Pan etc.As a pan, I love it. As a gimmick, I'm not buying it.

I've been using Tefal pans for years now, they are generally of a much better quality and tend to last well (and they need to with a family of 5) This pan is no different from a quality perspective though looks a little different. The pan is solid and feels really well built, the ceramic coating feels thick and reminds me of Le Creuset pans. The heat indicator however is a little different to the usual red on black setup, this one is a little difficult to tell when its ready without constantly referring to the instructions, either way you get a feel for when its ready so not the worst issue.I was a little confused as to why this is just for veg,i can only assume that its due to people not wanting any cross contamination given the continued growth of vegetarianism and veganism, and in the same trend that chopping boards have colour codes I reckon this makes sense enough. However as an omnivore I tried cooking the veg as instructed in this, its an amazing surface for stir frying or sweating veg, absolutely non stick, better than teflon, but then I also tried eggs (also amazing) and even some meat. Ultimately its a great pan only losing a 5th star for being patronising about people not being able to split their own pan use and the difficulty of the heat spot (but that's a little pedantic to be fair)Great addition to the cooking drawer.

This is a premium frying pan from Tefal - its a 28cm heavy aluminium frying pan with a ceramic non stick coating. The USP is that it is designed for veggies and the Thermo-spot tells you when the pan is optimum temperature (140 degrees celsius compared to 180-200 degrees for meat). A lower cooking temperature preserves more vitamins and reduces the chances of the veggies being overcooked or burnt. Of course you could use at higher temperatures if you want to stir fry/sear your veggies but it is useful to have the indicator. The pan is suitable for all hobs including induction. What I like about it besides the build quality and durable ceramic coating is that it is easily identifiable as the vegie frying pan with its green handle.Useful if you share a house with vegetarian and meat eaters and helps avoid "cross contamination". Most vegetarians aren't too keen on using the same pan that someone else just used for their bacon and eggs! So no more arguments in the house share and hopefully no need to lock away or obsessively label the veggie cookware! So extra bonus star for that. This is no entry level pan either - the contruction is good and it is built to last. Unlike some of the basic pans which are so thin they warp after a while - the thick walls mean the heat spreads evenly and it should last a life time. 5 stars.

This ceramic veggie pan is a great idea - with a thick base and a non-stick ceramic coating, it promises to cook vegetables without overcooking and making them lose their nutrients. I still managed to accidentally overcook some kale though sadly - it browned without sticking, which seems like another way to burn?!It seems like it's designed to be optimal when used with a convection hob, but is also suitable for gas. I have a gas cooker and found it easy to use on it. But the indicator ring in the middle that is meant to turn green takes a really long time to change colour, and even then, it's very slight. I don't know if that is how it's *meant* to be, or if it's more apparent on an electric cookers, but it didn't really help much as an indicator - it felt hot enough to me (on instinct) before it changed colour. It's a plus to be able to use metal utensils on it but I admit I still shy from doing it just in case it damages the surface. The production quality is really top notch, and the green stay-cool handle serves as a good marker for the veggie-only pan. I love the feel and heft of it, but it doesn't come with a lid, which I find a big drawback. The pan has a large diameter - larger than any of all my other pans, so the fact that it doesn't come with a lid of its own is an unsolvable problem. Point off for that.

I wanted this ceramic pan specifically for making vegetable stir-fry, which I love. it's sometimes difficult to judge the temperature of a wok before throwing in the sliced or diced vegetables, but this pan has a special sensor in the centre which changes colour from grey/black to green) when the pan is the right temperature to cook the veg without turning it soggy or soaking up too much oil. Cooking this way also retains more of the vitamin C in your food, making it more nutritious. My stir-fry was tasty and retained some crunch when cooked in this pan. It's advertised as purely for cooking veg, though to be honest I can't see why you shoudn't put meat or fish in it if you're a carnivore. But you may prefer to keep it just for vegetables so you can avoid any cross-contamination.It's non-stick, so you shouldn't use anything metal which will scratch, and one slight drawback if you cook electric might be its large size - 28cm diameter, which might be too big for some ceramic hobs. According to the instructions you can also put the pan in the oven for a limited time (up to an hour) at lower temperatures, but I really don't see why you would want to, and surely the fairly large handle would get in the way!

This is a 28cm / eleven inch non-stick frying pan that has been marketed as a vegetable frying pan comprising of both new and old technology. Now obviously you can use it like any other frying pan, but this one has a patented 'Thermo-Spot' heat indicator (the fact that it's the ring around the spot that changes colour at 140°C, I assume 'Thermo-Ring' was already taken) to ensure you cook your veg at the correct temperature to maintain all the goodness within. The shallow sides meant sliding cooked foods out onto a plate was easy. The handle, Bakelite (a synthetic plastic invented in 1907 and what all old telephones were made of), stayed cool and the ceramic coating, both inside and out,was a joy to use and after cooking. It was ridiculously easy to clean, any marks washed off instantly leaving it spotless. The veggies I have cooked (and last night's omlette) were cooked to perfection.Only thing against it is the price, which I think is rather high for a single frying pan.Anyway, a useful addition to my cooking pans, I will see how it holds up with use.

I've been using Tefal products for a number of years and everything purchased has always given me a good few years of service. I am equally impressed with this Tefal Veggie Frying Pan.This frying pan is 28cm in diameter...a good size for a family. It is also quite deep at 7.4cm and holds a decent amount of chopped vegetables. It has a ceramic coating which is an excellent heat conductor, works equally as well as a non stick coating and makes the pan very easy to clean.I have been using this pan for freshly sauteed vegetable as well as stir fried vegetables and both come out deliciously crisp and full of flavour, tasting better than veggies cooked in a traditional pan. There is a thermospot on the base of this pan which changes colour at 140 degrees this is apparently the perfect temperature for the gentle cooking of vegetables...whether this is or isn't the best temperature for vegetables all I do know is that they taste superb.

Excellent build quality, sturdy and with a ceramic non-stick coating but lightweight. It looks great with the bright green handle and the stone-effect pan. The green handle is presumably a nod towards its ‘veggie’ credentialsThe idea with this pan is that the thermospot indicator changes colour when 140 degrees is reached. This being the ideal temperature for frying vegetables without losing the nutrients within.I’d no idea that there was an ideal temperature and I generally steam, boil or roast my veggies, the exception being asparagus which I do like to gently fry with lemon. I willpersonally, inevitably use this pan as a general-purpose pan because I really do like it in terms of it’s generous size, decent depth, lightness and even cooking and not just keep it solely for asparagus. If you fry a lot of veg then this would have obvious appeal but I think it’s a really good frying pan regardless of what you cook in it!!

This attractive frying pan is hard wearing and easy to clean. It is claimed metal utensils can be used, and although I'm careful and tend to use wooden items it's certainly holding up to the occasional spoon so far.The thermo spot is designed to show the correct temperature for vegetables. It quickly turns from purple to a rather greyish colour which is supposed to be green (it sort of is). This is a helpful bonus feature, I must admit I don't always remember.Designed to be used for vegetables, but it is a frying pan which takes other things too when the need arises. Heat distribution isn't the best, it's a good bit larger than the largest ring on my induction hob and it does get hotter in the middle.A nice pan, does what it says, though not entirely sold on having separate pans for different foods.

Although we’re still eating fish and meat, our diet is including more and more vegetables, so it’s good to have a sauté pan that we can dedicate to cooking them.At 28cm diameter, this is a good size pan and, being quite deep, the content is excellent. The green, “stay-cool” handle is a handy reminder to keep it for vegetables only and the clever 140°C “Thermo-Spot” helps keep the cooking temperature at the best level to get the best out of them. The attractive, stone-effect ceramic coating is tough enough to withstand metal utensils, although we always use plastic whenever possible. Unusually, this coating extends to the outside of the pan making it exceptionally easy to hand wash, although it is completely dishwasher safe.I’m very impressed with this pan and expect to get plenty of use from it.

Tefal C4090642 Veggie Frying Pan, 28 cm, Grey is a manufactured for frying vegetables and I found it cooked my veg perfectly while giving them a nice "charred" taste without the need for excess oil or butter. The frying pan heats up to the perfect temperature for cooking vegetables and this is shown by the "flower petals" change colour indicating the correct temperature. The pan actually reached the perfect temperature quite quickly.I cooked mixed veg including onions and peas and found the temperature was perfect for cooking great tasting veg.I also liked the fact the handle is cool to the touch which enabled me to hold the pan while "stirring the veg" to make a perfect veg.stir-fry.A great vegetable frying pan which I am happy to recommend.

Another fine frying pan, tailored to cook vegetables, from Tefal. It's very distinctive, with the pale green handle making it easy to separate from other pans. These days, when households may well have a Vegan and / or vegetarian in its ranks, it's good to have a pan dedicated to them for their exclusive use. Within a half hour of the pan arriving, I'd put together a delicious ratatouille, and I found the 'Thermo Spot' very useful in ensuring optimum temperature for cooking vegetables.Easy to clean (I prefer hand-washing frying pans as opposed to putting them in to a dishwasher), a satisfying hefty weight, and the handle being oven-safe up to 175 C, makes this a very good addition to mine or anyone's cookware range.Good on you, Tefal.

Whether the Tefal Vegetable pan's design really does cook vegetables better will take a better cook than I, but it is a very good pan and an excellent addition to any kitchen. The temperature indicator spot changes colour when the pan is at the right temperature and, at 28cm inside diameter, it will handle everything up to full length leeks.Well constructed, the pan feels solid and the inside is non-stick which looks likely to last. Additionally, it is designed to work with all kinds of hob including induction hobs. So whether you are putting together a quick evening snack or a family dinner, this is a great pan.The only thing that is missing is a lid..and for the price it really should have one.

A lovely Tefal pan that is both large and satisfyingly weighty. I can't say I noticed the 'Thermo-Spot' changing, as I know that when metal comes into contact with heat, it too heats up, and so I just started cooking... Vegetables can be cooked at any heat, as suits the needs of the meal and the chef/cook, and so I consider this a gimmick invented to qualify the pan as a specialist pan exclusively for vegetables/vegetarians.Please note, is doesn't blow up if you use it with meat...Despite the gimmick, this pan is very good and I like it, it replaces an older Tefal pan I have that isn't coated in ceramic as this one is. That in my opinion is the nice bonus with this pan.

This pan is designed exclusively to cook vegetables. The Thermospot changes colour when the pan has reached 140oC which is the 'ideal temperature for cooking vegetables that are full of flavour, juices and nutrients'. It does cook vegetables very well at that temperature (and other temperatures too), but obviously it depends how long you leave your vegetables in the pan for just how full of flavour, juices and nutrients they will be. It's a good looking pan, and the ceramic coating makes cooking and cleaning the pan smooth and easy. I also cooked some bacon in it...... No problems at all! :)
