This PIR is very well designed which makes it very easy to install. It is a very solid construction so no worries on handling to attach the blinds or adjust for Lux or Time duration. The adjustments are carried out using dials with good finger grips and not the usual small screwdriver slots. After installation, great disappointment as it did not work and despite checking and re-checking the wiring, the unit appeared completely dead. Removing the unit for return I then started reading the older reviews, which I should have done initially. That revealed/suggested that the wiring colours are not as expected and the Black PIR wire is the UK LIVE MAINS INPUT and the Brown PIR wire is the switched supply to the security lights.

This unit works well and, despite its wide coverage, is actually slightly more sensitive, and with a greater range, than the normal Steinel PIR's you might otherwise choose (eg model IS140-2). I would choose Steinel every time, they don't go wrong after 5-10 years, which all the other unbranded/branded-but-made-in-China units seem to. The instruction leaflet is not the most clear, but it's the only drawback you will face. Steinel do make a more expensive corner PIR, but this one seems more than good enough.

Excellent PIR. This was bought to replace a 15 pound PIR which was very insensitive. Many years ago i only ever fitted Steinel PIRs and this reminded me why. It is very compact but with sufficient space for wiring etc. Great that time and lux sensors can be adjusted with fingers rather than small screwdriver. Wiring needs attention as colours take a little getting used to.My particular purchase was misssing the bezel that covers the adjustment controls, however this was replaced next day by Amazon.

Perfect control to lighting up my garden.I thought i was goung to need two PIR sensors at either end of a passage way, however this was perfect giving a broad 270° detection area from either end of the passage way. So it saved on me needing another PIR and also less hassel to install as only need to wire up this one sensor.Item is well built and solid. Been installed for about two months now and no problems. You get what you pay for and im glad i paid that little bit more.

I would agree with anybody that it is not always true that you get better quality the more you spend! However in this case paying that extra has given me a top quality product and I’m confident as I can be that it will also give me Longevity. Had it wired up to a new lamp in no more then 15 minutes, plenty of room where your joining cables and you could easy fit three separate connections. Very happy with the PIR

Everything about this is very good. BUT getting access for the wiring is tricky when installing on a rendered corner as the metal angle bead will be tricky to drill through. The product needs to be rethought to allow wires to be brought in easily from the bottom and rubber grommets supplied to keep out damp

Once safely installed - always a fiddle with steps and getting the wiring through - this sensor has performed perfectly. As it senses movement as well as infrared changes it operates the security lights when others are blind. Here's hoping the quality means a long life and no replacement needed.

Works well and fairly easy to fit. Terminals were a bit small for the existing cable but managed to fit as a replacement for a detector which would not support low energy LED floodlights; this one is fine with two 20w LED lights.

Bought this to control our rear garden lamp, works perfectly. Picks up any person leaving either our kitchen or patio doors which are on the same wall that this is mounted on, so it certainly provides more than 180 Deg of view.

After trying and returning several different sensors that were either too sensitive or not waterproof it was good to buy this one and find it works properly. Easy to fit, and well made. At last a reliable sensor

Bought a quite expensive security lantern, wrongly assuming that it would contain a decent sensor. After much adjustment, admitted defeat and bought this separate sensor. Never fails and has an excellent range!

Easy and flexible mounting options. As per all PIRs, wildlife will set it off. Only gave 4 stars because it's quite expensive, but hoping that will mean years of trouble-free operation - only time will tell!

Works well, easy installation but the instructions are poor. Quite unclear which is the live in and which the live out wire. turns out black is live in and brown live out which is rather counter intuitive.

Used other types which let me down came across this make and model, good reviews and purchased this model. Has not let me down always works. Would buy another one a bit expensive but well worth it.

Excellent bit of kit, I would say Steinel IS 240 DUO black - motion detector with 240° angle is the best on the market don't bother buying anything else, we've tried them and nothing but trouble.
