I have other Elgato Eve devices and the main advantage of them, to me, is that they work without the need for another hub. This sensor is also rain-proof - an important consideration when using it outside. Other motion sensors I have (Ikea Tradfri) cannot be used externally. I have the Eve motion sensor setup with Homekit to switch on a light outside my front door at night when anyone approaches. I does this quite well, but can be slow to respond at times. Turning the sensitivity up will probably help with this. I have read other reviews where this is mentioned. This slow response is probably something to do with using Bluetooth to send the commands. Perhaps one with a hub might be more responsive - but I haven't tried these yet.

Another excellent HomeKit device from elgato. This motion sensor works really well and triggers motion within 1-2 seconds. I have this setup at the front door configured with a medium sensitivity. It senses motion well and triggers a scene to switch on the fro by porch light on arrival and in the morning to trigger a scene to switch off all the lights.Unsure why the other reviewer had problems but I can't say I have experienced the same and I have a number of other elgato and Philips Hue devices. The latest iOS updates to HomeKit and use of an AppleTV as a hub might make a big difference.

I bought this to use as security for my home and notify me when there is movement in my room when I am out.. So far so good. It is connected to an Apple TV 4K running IOS 11. I have had no problems so far with signal range, but it has only been used for a month! I have also had to increase the sensitivity to high to increase the range it operates at.I had this installed before moving into my home, my mother was at the new house and I was getting several notifications of it being triggered, so I know it does work and it is set up to only notify me when I (my phone) is not there.

Have now ordered my third motion sensor to provide complete coverage of key access areas. These are replacing Hive sensors which I have abandoned as completely unreliable. Early experience is good and only reason for dropping a star is that the overall setup and configuration process needs a little effort to get right. Initially thought one sensor was faulty but simply turned out to be configuration issue in the Home app.All sensors working well and sending motion alerts to my iPhone ... will probably explore other Elgato products over time.

The battery lasts forever, the motion-detection is both configurable for sensitivity and highly reliable.I use these units to detect intrustion on my RV (my RV is homekit enabled) and also trigger lights to swithc on/off.I like that they have a "motion detected" and "motion detection stop" event which makes controlling items really straightforward.I totally love that they can go outside to.My only gripe is I wish they were a little more compact.A perfect product in my opinion. Highly recomended.

We already use a variety of Eve products to manage our central heating and security. I added the Eve Motion as part of the heating controls so that a lack of motion turns the heating off earlier at the end of the day (on the assumption that we’ve already gone to bed). It was very easy to assign the Eve Motion to a room, configure the sensivity and on time, and then create rules to define how the heating behaves when the sensor triggered or not.

The other review on this giving to 1 star is very unfair. The set up is easy. And as of iOS 10.2 the sensor can send a notification to your iDevice etc.I almost didn't buy this because of the review but it works as advertised. The latest settings that you need to set up alerts is buried in the elgato blog (hence loosing 1 start). Otherwise this does what it says on the tin.

Only limitation is the need for Bluetooth which limits range.Easy to integrate with Apple homekit.Nice features that allow alerts to be heard when the sensor is triggered.Will not work through a window for movement outsideIs just battery powered so can be moved around at will.

Works well. Though I have had a couple of false positives, which would have really upset me if I were not gone at the time. This does mean that I wouldn’t completely trust this as an intrusion detection device.It’s good for turning the lights on when you walk past though.

Excellent product. Works perfectly with HomePod and the other Eve devices. Set this one up to use with Eve Energy and Eve Thermo. I now have a large number of Eves around the house (Motion, Thermo, Degree, Smoke) and haven’t had a problem with any of them.

Set up was a breeze and it covers a huge range, this one is outside in the shed and still connects to the house wifi 10+meters away. Very happy

This product work well and does the job I purchased it for, to turn on internal lights when I return home after dark. I have no complaints.

Really happy with this product. It works out the box as expected and ties in with my Apple Home kit. Great to keep an eye on things.
