I bought this sensor for an experiment. I want to be able to turn on my existing LED bathroom light.I haven't fitted it as yet I just have it set up on my mantlepiece whilst I get it working as I want.I bought this sensor as it is the cheapest mainstream smart home sensor that I can find. I wanted the Hue sensor but it is £35 which is far too much. Standard PIR's are less than £10! So this one at £22 seems a reasonable compromise.I have been using the sensor to control a Philips Hue compatible LED strip controller. I set it via IFTTT to come on if it detects movement and turn off after 5 minutes of no movement. This was not that easy to achieve in the first place and difficult to adjust. But as this should be a set it up and forget it installation I am not too bothered.I am very much of the opinion that all smart home tech. should be zigbee complient (the main type of standard at present as far as I can see) and interact with each other. That way us consumers can buy on function, quality and price. I don't want to be tied into all my smart home tech. having to be purchased from the same manufacturer. The only complaint I have about this product is that it is not usable in my Alexa app which is why I am forced to use IFTTT.Come on Hive we as customers want flexibility, make the sensor accessible in Alexa, Google home and Apple then we can all use it.Most important give us plenty of functionality with multiple day/week timers.Would I buy it again or recommend this sensor. At present, I think this is only good for the serious enthusiast and tech nut like me. Once the Hive team sort the app out and make the sensor more usable across platforms I will buy more but until then I wont.

This sensor requires a hub this is ok if you already invested in the hive eco system otherwise you'd have to fork out £70+ for the hub. You can use it to get peace of mind when you are out of your house. Use this on your door or window, it detects windows and door opening, so if its opened when you're not in you get a notification straight away on your smartphone.Set up and instructions is very easy and straight forward especially if you already have Hive. installation on your door or window is also very easy, the sensor comes with sticky pads, making the install very clean and simple. Whilst the app could be a lot better,it is very simple and easy to use.Through the app you can set up automation/routines and you can also set up the Hive Door sensor to be used with other Hive integrated products like the Hive smart plug, motion sensor, camera and light bulbs. You can check the status of your door or window and look up activity over the last 24 hours for free or pay £5 a month to look up the last 30 days.A few reviews complain about connection issues and battery life but I haven't had any such issues. I have the latest wireless Hive 360 hub, the hub itself has on the odd occasion gone offline for some strange reason, but that's an issue with the hub not the sensor. I've been using the sensor for just over a year and it's battery indicator on the Hive app shows the battery is still full which is great.I like this sensor, it's reasonably priced and works fairly well as a security device, however I can only really recommend it if you're already locked into the Hive eco system, that way you'd get the most out of it. Hope this was helpful.

Would probably work well within it's own ecosystem, however, I already have made a considerable investment in smart lights from another manufacturer. This would not usually be an issue as services such as IFTTT allow for interactivity between smart devices from different manufacturers. It would seem that while Hive devices are quite willing to take an input from another device or service and carryout an action (i.e. if it gets dark turn the lights on, if it gets cold turn the heating on) It's quite a different story with their output devices, so instead of the motion detector simply sending an alert to another API and that then carrying out an action, the best you can do is get a notification on your phone or tablet and then set up another action to act on receipt of that notification. This is an unreliable and slow method to achieve an outcome which should be simple and straightforward.EDIT:-Anyone who is tech savvy, BUY THIS SENSOR!Then, set it free with a ZigBee hub and tasmota!Have connected two off these sensors to a third party ZigBee hub, and both have so much more going on than just the IR motion detector, although they are both different.....One also has a temperature sensor, a luminance sensor as well as battery and signal levels. The other has temperature and 'occupancy sensors and also transmits battery and signal levels!OOH THE ZIGBEE!

I purchased the Hive Motion Sensor to control my smart lighting whenever there was movement on the landing. The motion sensor works perfectly and the Hive app easily allows routines to be set and I quickly had the landing light coming on when motion was detected during the hours of darkness, staying on for 5 minutes, then automatically turning off again. The sensor sticks to a flat surface using the double sided sticky pads provided. Be warned, they are strong enough to remove paint if you try to reposition them. I’d suggest experimenting with positioning using tacky putty before finally using the pads once happy. The only downside is that around 5% of the time, the light does not turn off again after 5 minutes.Whilst I appreciate that this is a software issue rather than a malfunction of the sensor, as I cant use the sensor without the app then it’s irritating enough to lose a star. Should the bugs in the app be sorted, this would work perfectly.Every product I review is one I have purchased myself.I rely on unbiased reviews when making shopping choices so that’s exactly what you’ll get from me. I really like this motion sensors. Since i put them up, we haven't touched the light switches for the hallway, landing or kitchen sinse! They are sensitive enough to keep the light on with minimal movement in the room. I have them set up to turn lights on from sunset to sunrise for a few minutes, so we never leave the lights on in those rooms now. I'd like to get another for the living room when i can afford. They are fairly expensive, but they work well, and the build quality is good. I've seen a few people complain about battery life, but i haven't had any issues with them, I've had them up for quite a few weeks, (3-4 months-ish) and they are still working fine - as I say, they are in the kitchen, hallway and landing, fairly high traffic areas considering we have a 4yo running around the house too!*Update*I still haven't replaced the batteries in any of the sensors and they are still working perfectly, even in high traffic areas like the hallway.Since writing my original review I purchased another two sensors - for the living room and new extension that we use as a dining room.I've almost forgotten how a light switch works! ?

Edit: Hive resolved this issue and I know have 1 sensor switching on 4 bulbs perfectly every time so I've changed my review from 4 to 5 stars.I've recently kitted out my home with a number of smart devices including Hive Thermostat, bulbs and sensors and being wheelchair bound their making my life that bit easier.I have one of these sensors in the bedroom which turns on a lamp as I enter the room and that works perfectly.I put one in the kitchen to turn on 4 GU10 bulbs. It would work for a day and then stop working, if I deleted the routine and redid it then it would work for a short time. I returned a sensor thinking it was faulty but a second one was the same.I was considering what thedifference is between the two rooms and decided to try only linking 2 bulbs to the kitchen sensor and that resolved the problem. I've ordered a second sensor for the kitchen to turn on the remaining 2 bulbs. It's less than ideal to have to spend that amount of money twice but for me it's worth it.Incidentally, I do also have a door sensor and that manages to turn all 4 bulbs on when coming into the kitchen.

annoying that Hive have bundled all the reviews for their products together, difficult to get a clear idea of what people are rating. This review is for Hive Window or Door Sensor, I already have the thermostat which really you'd need unless you want to folk out for the hive hub just for these sensors. These sensors are easy to install and connect to your existing set-up. I have one on the front and back door (only access to my property) you can set up a schedule for when to receive alerts. They have worked flawlessly but I was disappointed not to be able to set up to get a text when the door is opened. You can have a text notification but only if you pay £5 per month. It was my plan to set this up to give me a text if the doors are opened at night, then set my phone to not be silent to that number so I'd be alerted in the night if the doors were opened. Realistically, without the text feature, I can only use these to give me peace of mind while I'm at work or on holiday to know the doors have not been opened. My wife would call these a waste of money but I like them and would buy them again.

Bought these as in two for the front and back door. Excelllent for alerting you as to comings and goings at your home whilst away or at home, push nottifications let you know when the door or window has been opened. no strars for mortion detection as it's not a motion detector, it detects the breaking of the magnetic field between itself and the magnet. |I recommend these as the battery literally lasts years and is a really good tool for monitoring your ppoperty. Just purchased a further motion sensor to go along with the front and rear door sensors. Plus the 3 motion sensors I already have had running for the last 4 years. This one just wouldn't pair with my system. And I've done this many times.Contacted hive through the chat App who allocated it to my system so maybe it was locked out. Anyway. It now works fine and is paired with a Hive bulb to auto switch lights. There are glitches with the system but they are minor so I put up with them. All in all it works pretty well.

I was firstly sceptical to order this item given some of the reviews, however I have found the product to be excellent. It's a simple setup process through the hive app, simply powering the item up and using the app to sync to your system. Installation is very easy, simply sticks to the desired surface using the supplied 3m double sided strips. Just make sure it's at the desired angle and height, which the sensor is angled so fitting in a corner is simple. It's very easy to make this part of your home system and implement commands, in this case I use it for home monitoring which it aligns with the alexa system and routines, which will alert me if motion is detected between certain hours,so you don't have to have it monitoring all the time, which is great. For example, you can set it so between a time frame on a weekend or weekday and if motion is detected, your smart bulbs will turn a desired colour and an alarm will sound through your alexa devices. Pretty neat.

Having used other Hive products and therefore a Hive hub, it made sense to add some door sensors too (3). The first one worked fine but the other two did not show up on the home page of the app. Eventually after removing them and reinstalling them - they worked (and have been consistent since then). When closed they show as off on the home page - but when the door is open, the orange part lights up and show it's on. Took a bit of getting used too. They work very well (I have had a couple of issues where after a door has been closed and locked, it shows it was open, then shut, the open, shut etc but after a minute or so, it caught up and showed that it was closed afterall).Normally thought it's very speedy and reliable. I had to install the magnet part at right angles to the sensor and it worked so if your doors are not flush (one of mine was, the other two not) - then this will work for you (just ensure that there isn't too much distance between the two items).

I have quite an extensive Hive set up, heating, bulbs, motion and door sensors. The door/window sensors are very easy to install, just fit the adhesive strip and put them into position. Pairing them from the Hive app is fairly straightforward. The sensors can be set to send push notifications and also to perform other "actions", I have mine set to switch lights on when a door opens during sunset to sunrise. These generally work well but as with the motion sensors, occasionally they have a habit of going off line. Getting them back online can be a bit of a nuisance and I generally end up having to remove the battery, wait a few seconds before reinserting it and then pressing and holding the reset button until it enters pairing mode and then perform the pairing through the app. This is all well and good if you are home when they go offline but if you are away then you don't know what is going on.So they are good but could be better/more reliable.

We have Hive heating and lately we have started looking at the other Hive products. We went for a motion sensor as my wife wanted an alert if motion was detected in the Kitchen Diner at night. This is perfect for that. It feels quite flimsy build wise but is quite compact so easy to place.Pairing it was really strange. Went through the process but no notification of success in the app, nor was there anything obvious to say it worked. Tried reset a few times and again nothing. It was only when I had a look in the menu it was there, so this initially threw me.I then pinned it to the HIve dashboard in the app and from there I could configure how it behaves. I have mine set to a schedule and alert me,and I have my phone set to allow the alerts when in quiet mode.Accuracy wise it hasnt failed a single time to detect motion. I get to test it frequently as my daughter is sleep adverse at the moment. lol

The top review is negative for this item and this did put me off purchasing this for a while but then I checked the recent reviews and this had positive feedback so thought I might as well try and if I have issues Amazon’s return policy will protect me.I needed a motion sensor to turn on the bathroom light especially during the night. Once set up which is easy to do via the app this is working great. I have set multiple schedules to work at different times with different brightness’s. There is a lot of flexibility available. I still can’t understand the negative reviews as a lot of external factors can affect these, network speed, number of devices, signal strength of the device so it will work differently for everyone.I cannot fault this product it also looks great and is small and discreet. I will look to add more in the future.

I bought this to automatically turn on my young daughter bedroom light for her as she can't reach the switches and I didn't want to be leaving her evening unnecessarily. Its done the trick as far as that's concerned. The only downside is that the actions you can create in Hive are a little limited. It would be nice to have different activation lengths at different times of the day. At the minute all you can set its a duration for the light to be on and the time periods the sensor triggers those light activations or not. I'll be interested to see how long the battery does last. Installation was quick and simple. Pull the battery tab to connect the battery and then add some sticky pads (supplied)and stick to the wall. The front cover detaches easily from the back plate to allow you to replace the battery.

Bought two from Amazon warehouse slightly cheaper than full price. One didn’t come with the sticky pads but luckily I had some spares. The other also had the battery seal removed so I had to do a factory reset on it before I could add it.Both parts just stick to the door and door frame so installation is easy. You need to ensure the gap is small between the two. Initially I was getting false alerts on one of the doors as it wasn’t quite flush to the frame so had to relocate the sensors.I would recommend lining the sensors up on the correct markers on the sensors and testing prior to affecting as one of the sensors didn’t work on the marked point and had to be the opposite way around.Once added to the hive app you can monitor the sensor and test prior to sticking to the door.
