Before buying this player, I was little skeptical with it. I knew Sony had some issues with windows drag and drop in the past. But eventually took the risk. Now I can say it is totally worth it! The sound quality is superb. The supplied headphone is so much better than what you get with ipod. You really have to try it to understand the difference. I guess noise canceling ability also adds to this. One other good thing is that you can also drag and drop the playlists from the iTunes / Windows Media Player (I had to update the supplied software - Content Transfer from Sony's website to export the iTunes Playlists though). The navigation system is good as well. Its cheaper than iPod!!What more you can ask for! I believe in the 8GB category - this player is right on the top.Update: Just a quick update on my above review. It looks like with the new version of iTunes (8.2), Sony's Content Transfer software has lost the ability to Synchronize the iTunes Playllists (sync. of individual files works fine though). However, it looks like another of Apple's cheap (!!!) effort to block Sony's devices from iTunes. Hopefully Sony will be updating its Content Transfer software soon to resolve this.

I was looking for Mp3 player to replace my 30g ipod, which although was great for music and videos, was plagued with various problems. Plus I did not like itunes. Firstly the headphones are superior than the ones you get bundled with the Ipod. They have a noise cancelling feature. This is handy when you want to screen out the noisy kids on the way to work. The user interface is very simple to use, so navigating your why round your tunes is easy. The battery power is the best I've encountered on a mp3/4 player. Never had a low battery yet. Plus it has FM radio. Lastly the best feature is that you can drag and drop files using windows explorer. No more loading files into another program or converting them into another format.this is highly recommended. With an Ipod nano your paying £40 extra for a name.Dec 2010 UPDATEUnfortunately the brilliant sounding headphones died about 3 months ago due the rigid material that was used to cover the cable snapping in several places where I had wrapped them around the player. I feel that Sony should look at this.

I remembered my cassette Walkman from the early 80s and how that lasted for ever (or seemed to)so when it came to purchasing something to keep me occupied during the long hours of waiting at hospital appointments (something that comes with increasing age I'm afraid) I had a look at the modern version. I had to borrow a 15 year old to explain what MP3 and MP4 were, but once I had the knowledge (and some extraordinary vocabulary) it was all go. I accessed dozens of the Amazon Customer Reviews, which I found extremely helpful, before deciding on the Walkman over the iPod and I am so pleased that I went down that route: not only is it cheaper, but now that I've had the opportunity to listen to others'iPods I think the performance of the Walkman is better. It's easy to use, the sound is excellent and the MP4 screen is breathtakingly good. I have read a few negative reviews about the noise-cancelling option and cannot concur: what a lot of fuss over something trivial. All-in-all the Walkman is outstanding and I heartily recommend it.

The Sony Walkman NWZ-S738FB 8GB MP4 Video Player FM Tuner with Noise-Cancelling Headphones comes with a plug adaptor for in-flight use. The headphones' plug is not completely round - it has a bit poking out (possibly someting to do with the noise-cancelling capability), which has to be slotted into the Walkman before the headphones can be plugged all the way in. The hole in the in-flight plug adaptor is completely round, which means that it's impossible to attach the noise-cancelling headphones!! Took it into my local Sony Centre - they say it's likely this model is exclusive to Amazon and to contact Amazon. Amazon website says contact Sony!! Apart from this, it's easy to use,has excellent picture and sound quality. Headphones are excellent for children - the most comfortable they've used; such a shame the headphone adaptor supplied doesn't fit the headphones :-(Has anyone else tried to use these headphones with the in-flight plug adaptor and what was the outcome? Please reply to my discussion forum on this topic. Thank you!

I bought this mp3 player to replace my previous one as I frequently use public transport and I was interested in the noise cancelling aspect of this player. In short it works reasonably well and I don't have to set the volume level as high as I did with my previous player so it's better for my ears. The sound quality is excellent as is the quality of the screen, I'm unlikely to make much use of the video player although the preloaded ones are welcome and again of excellent quality. The Fm radio is also a welcome feature - great for catching up on the news on the go and very easy to use. It is very thin dimensions wise but I bought a case for it which makes it a little chunkier. The bottom line - an excellent, quality mp3 player and very good value for money!

my last mp3 player was a creative zen which was a good size and looked neat and the sound was great on, but sadly the screen went/cracked, so i bought this sony one instead. i can honestly say, i havent looked back at all, this is a fantastic mp3 player.its so so easy to use, the noise cancelling headphones are the bees knees, the sound quality is fantastic. it is a perfect size and fits neatly into my pocket. The only slight downfall would have to be the radio, it doesnt always tunne in that well, or stay in signal well.Other than that, I would highly recommend.

Just the two things that surprised me most:- the headphones are great! I can't hear any difference when I compare them to my Sony MDR EX90LP Sony Ultimate MDR EX90LP headphones with wide dynamic range and they are lightyears better than my Creative EP 630 Creative Labs EP-630/A Earphones- noise cancelling. I use it every morning on the train and it is so relaxing. I'm not sure about it's efficiency in other environments, but on the commuter train it really shines!Again: wow, just wow...

After looking at the MP3 players available on the market I decided to go with the Sony Walkman NWZ-S738FB mainly due to the sound quality and the fact that it had an FM radio. Once I received it I realised I had made the right choice, the sound quality is excellent and with the noise cancelling headphones I think it would be difficult to beat. All said and done an excellent choice for the money.

this new walkman has all the wow factor for me, its so slim it wont leave you looking like youve got a brick in your pocket also it really is so easy to download your music and the sound is phenominal through the supplied earphones, only thing to note is that it will download all your media files unless you set default not to but once thats done its a "bobby dazzler"

Cannot fault this cheeky little player - sound is great, ease of putting toons on there is brilliant. All in all a top buy and super quick delivery from Amazon as always. I've had other MP3 players previously from Creative and IPOD which have been perfectly functionable but this little number is in a class of its own in my book.

Small compact unit with a better than average sound, very simple to use and add files to and very easy to find your way round,Nothing against iPod touch with its bigger screen but if I was looking for a first time buy for myself it would be the walkman instead of iPod.

Easy to use. Very small and light but with a good clear screenGood sound and the earplugs are the most comfortable I've found; usually I find in-ear plugs too uncomfortable and resort to round-the-ear types.Plenty of space for my music and audio-books.Very pleased.

I chose this item in June after studying the reviews. They are not wrong! I play a lot of classical music and the tonal range is great, particularly with organ music. The drag and drop is so easy, and efficient. Very satisfied.
