I bought the Sony Walkman to replace a Samsung R1, which had decided it preferred being a paperweight to being a media player. I toyed with the idea of an iPod, but the cost put me off. I knew I needed about 8Gb to put enough music and some videos on to keep me amused for a week away. To be honest, the price was a driving factor, plus Sony's name, after all the Walkman is the daddy of them all. The colour wasn't my first choice, but it was cheaper than the black one by quite a bit at the time. I see the prices have now flipped and the black is now cheaper. The colour didn't matter to me, so I went for red.I couldn't be more pleased, the sound is superb, the controls are intuitive and the build quality excellent.

i had a creative zen micro but the battery life was awful i had to carry 3 charged batterries as they rarely lasted 2hrs even a new one.Although it is a bit bigger & heavier than the ipod i decided on this one following reviews from other people & it cheaper .it seems very well made & i particularly like the built in speakers not very loud but ideal for listening inside a tent when headphone wires get in the way. the screen is clear & it seems to last fairly well battery wise.the quality of sound is good tho like others have pointed out if you're on a noisy train or walking down a street with a lot of traffic you cant hear it even at max volume.i rarely do this so its not a problem.

I wanted an MP3 with speakers and this one is excellent. It has speakers front and back and a small attachment so when fitted the player is on a slope and so all speakers are accessible.I had to buy a wall charger separately but it was only a few pounds.Oddly, it hasn't downloaded all the album covers and I can't tell what makes it do some and not others but I don't want to listen to the cover so I'm not too bothered.

I bought this for my daughters birthday, she loves it, some vids on it and plenty of music, looks great and sounds good, battery life is amazing, all in all a really good buy at the 60 pound mark, you can get the black one for that price still, i dont know if id spend 100+ on it to be honest, the link to the black one is below.Sony NWZS544B S Series 8GB Walkman with Built-In Stereo Speakers - Black

I bought one as a birthday present for my daughter and was so impressed I bought one for myself. Good battery life, charges quickly, easy to use and good sound.

Delighted with it. Easy to use, great sound. Arrived within a week. Would recommend it anyone who wants a simple, good looking music player.
