As humans, we sometimes tend to personify our gadgets. Having witnessed the phenomenon in others, I'm happy to see I'm not the only one (a psychologist could explain it better, but it probably stems from our post-toddler, invisible friend/stuffed animal days, but no matter). So if this little MP3 player could speak, I reckon it would probably say something like, "Hi there! I know I'm not as full-blooded as an iPod Touch or as sleekly designed as an iPod Nano, but I'll work real hard to make you happy. Honest!"First, a bit of history: I've owned iPods since late 2003 when I bought a spanking new 15 GB third generation iPod. Back then, smart phones had yet to come of age and if you wanted a high-capacity MP3 player,Apple were just about the only game in town. It helped matters immensely that my iPod was so well constructed since I used it day in, day out for five years until it finally died and I replaced it with a fourth generation iPod Nano. That Nano sure *seemed* solid enough (what with its sleek, anodized aluminum body and all) but a mere year-and-a-half later it fell apart faster than Joan Crawford in a wire hanger factory (see "Mommie Dearest [1981] [DVD]" for an explanation of that analogy). With hopes held high for an amazing sixth generation Nano, I balked at its rather stripped-down feature set and the tiny, nigh-unusable touch screen. So, off a-shopping I did go.Since Sony didn't appear to make a Mac-friendly Walkman, I opted to punt, snapping up the newly released Sansa Fuze+ (black, 8BG capacity). I'd known about -- and respected -- Sansa players for years as affordable and worthy iPod competitors, so this seemed the best available option. Whether consciously or not, SanDisk are filling a huge void in the marketplace right now caused by the absence of last year's multi-purpose fifth generation Nano (and as a student, I really, really needed its now long-gone voice recorder feature badly). To define the negatives of this particular player: as many reviewers have pointed out, the Fuze+'s touch-sensitive interface can be a bit unresponsive at times and over-responsive at others. The GUI isn't anywhere near as intuitive as anything Apple could have designed. Furthermore, the industrial design is rather plain and the plastic is easily scratched (HINT: rub any scratches that appear on plastic with Brasso and a clean, lint-free cloth; after several minutes, it clears them right up -- promise!). That said...Onto the positives: the sound quality from this thing is amazing -- rich and full! I've run tests only to have my jaw hit the floor when battery power on my unit clocked in at a WHOPPING 53 hours for 128 kbps MP3s and 30 hours for 256 kbps AAC files. This in itself is an astonishing discovery, particularly having come from the notoriously power-hungry iPod realm. This little fellow plays video beautifully, although the screen's visual "sweet spot" is at a slightly off-centre angle when watching a movie in Landscape mode. Also, it's got a voice recorder -- a good one -- that uses the unit's incredibly wee, shockingly responsive built-in microphone. While the Fuze+ won't win any beauty contests, it is enough for me to say that it *is* solidly constructed, having already dropped it several times without so much as scratching it (Brasso time!).I give this player a solid recommendation -- especially (way) over the current iPod Nano -- keeping in mind that it is still quite new and there *are* flaws. However, SanDisk seems to really care about their customers, listening to their concerns and working hard to iron out the kinks. Their Website support forums are a good place to go for advice, especially considering that by buying any new first-generation product, you're essentially signing up to be a Beta tester. It just comes with the territory, folks.

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews on this product but decided to go ahead with the order and i'm glad i did.Great Sound Quality, Nice Menu , does everything it says on the tin. 2 Suggestions:1. Ignor battery indicator on device and in windows during first time charge allow the device to fully charge (takes about 3 hrs to charge)on usb ports at the back of your computer as these have higher power output. It will let you know when its fully charged either throughwindows or on the players screen. After this both indicators work fine.2. Update the firmware on the device by following the instructions in the popup in windows.Or download Sansa updater from their website.I paid £35 for the 4gb fuze+ and then paid £14 for the 32gb MicroSD card. Under £50 for a 36gb mp3 player inc. postage, Great Deal ;-)

Good:- Long battery life.- Lots of options/settings.- Sounds good.- Able to customize the menu items, so you'll only see the stuff you want to see.- "Power saver" makes your Sansa turn itself off if nothing happens for a periode of time, so you'll never leave your mp3 player running accidently.Bad:- Locking the mp3 player must be done by holding the play/pause button.- Not able to reach the settings fast if you are listening to music. You'll have to go back and browse trhough the menu.- The swiping is a littlebit annoying, but you get used to it.- The screen is nothing special, but I only care for the music, so it doesn't bother me.

This player was everything that I hoped it would be. It provides a whole range of options to be personalised to your specific tastes. The sound is clear and crisp. Files transferred to the device are automatically organised into folders and files. Usually correctly, but the odd glitch is acceptable. The main point is that carries out this arrangements faster and more accurately than I can!A technical problem did develop a few months after purchase, but I received an email response in double quick time and instructions on rectifying the issue. It worked perfectly.Lovely product. Excellent service. Where is the 6 star rating?

I wanted to have a nice music player and it is such a thing. The quality of earphones is questionable though, but it is so easy to change that it's not a problem really. It is quite easy to use however the fact that I need to scroll through whole artists list to get from one end to the other is annoying. 16gb is quite a lot of space and with a big quantity of bands it is difficult to find the one you want to listen to if you're in a hurry. The battery has a long life - no complains here.It works well with Windows Vista - I didn't have any problems with transferring music from my laptop to the mp3 player.

The Sansa mp3 play looks nice, has a reasonable screen size, for an mp3 player. The radio function is a bonus for me, as is the ability to store photo and video.I bought this to use on plane journeys mainly, so do not use it as often as other reviewers for this item.I can agree that the touch panel can be a tad sensitive, but it is something I got used to quickly. The battery life is very good in my opinion, as is the sound quality.I find the device easy to use and I am very happy with it.

Control is sensitive but does not detract from the quality of this product. Main grouch (hence only 4 stars) is the random way Album Art seems to transfer when music is loaded - multiple visits to web discussions seem to point to a firmware issue. This excepted this is a great player at a great price. I hope a firmware update solves the Album Art issue in due course. With that sorted it would be five stars. I recommend buying a silicone case and screen protector straight away.

This is a great product. Easy navigation and good solid sound. It also has the added function / attraction of recording live radio which was a strong selling point for me. Initially had difficulty in charging device but I discovered that my Samsung phone charger was compatible so problem solved! Seller was also very helpful with advice and delivery was very good. Would use this seller again. Overall very pleased.

This MP3 player is great! The battery life is SO long - great for long car journeys! Also, the settings can allow the volume to go VERY loud, which can be good for blocking out noise!!! The sound quality is brilliant, just as good as an Apple product, if not better. The touch pad is easy enough to work - very simple and quite reactive! Overall, a great product, especially for travelling! :)

When I was looking for a MP3 my main concern was how good the FM Radio was. Normally there is a lack of details concerning this side of MP3's and on Amazon's MP3 products is no exception. So it was more or less a blind purchase. Fortunately, I choose the right one. SanDisk comes with a very good FM Radio detecting automatically any Radio Station with a good sound output.

Excellent MP3 that I have no hesitation in recommending. Easy to use with masses of memory. A handy featuren is that you can record radio programmes. There is enough volume to satisfy everybody. I also purchased a plug with a USB connection to charge the battery, this saves you from having to turn your computer on for charging. A good buy!

A very good product at a reasonable price.I found the controls a bit too sensitive, when replacing the product back into its wallet the slight pressure of the wallet on the fuze would change its menu which prove to be very annoying, having to change it back to your desired setting.

18.7.2013

Though this is sensitive at first you soon get used to it, you do have to lock it though if you are carrying it, the sound is fantastic I really enjoy this, its turned me into a avid music buyer. Sansa also give excellent support even though this is a reconditioned item,

27.12.2013

If you are an "i" fan you'll hate it. If you dislike being restrained by iTunes and all things "i" then you'll love it. You will also be rewarded with better sound quality than an iPod and far more flexible methodology for controlling your music contained therein.

10.4.2013

There are lots of good features on the MP3. I don't use it often, but the voice memo is occasionally useful. My only criticism is on the controls. the swiping and pressing on the cross below the screen sometimes is not intuitive how to control the device.
