Having had mp3 players from Archos and Apple, and disliked both, I bought a 8Gb Sandisk Clip some years ago, and have been a convert to Sandisk ever since. The ease of use and simplicity of design, plus reasonable price are factors which influence my choice. This new mp3 player from Sandisk is no exception. It arrived neatly packaged and with ear phones, a USB/microUSB charging cable and an instruction sheet which is little more than an explanation of the player's layout and controls. There is, however, a full user manual on the Sandisk website. The design is a classy combination of black gloss and matt with clearly marked controls which have a smooth velvety feel. The sockets for charging and ear/head phones are located either side of the unit and each have a little flip cover; the volume control is located on one side underneath the micro USB socket. Setting up is very easy: after charging the player switch it on, go to Settings and select the ones relevant to you – it is that easy.A complaint often heard with regard to these players is lack of volume – not so this one. The volume is really loud, quite bass-y, not at all tinny. The quality of ear or head phones will have a great effect on the quality of the sound, and I, personally, do not like the earphones supplied, mainly because I find them extremely uncomfortable. I have a good pair of Bose 'phones, and the sound is terrific. The Bluetooth capability is a really useful option; it's one I have yet to try but will do so in the next few days. I'm hoping – expecting – it to be as easy as the rest of it has been. The screen on this model is so much larger (2.5cms x 2.75cms) than my older, smaller, one, and it is coloured, which may sound a small detail but is particularly handy when checking battery level, which shows green on this model. The wide clip on the back is a good size and easy to use, and perhaps more importantly, is strong enough to clip securely to clothing.Okay – so how do you load it with songs etc? Dead easy – drag and drop. First connect the player to your computer, then just drag your files from your computer and drop them into the relevant file on the Sandisk. No need for iTunes or special programmes. And how does it sound? Good - it's clear and sharp, but as mentioned, good quality 'phones can affect your enjoyment.Weighing next to nothing, with fully rounded corners, no sharp edges and its bigger screen, it's hard to fault. My one criticism is the relatively small storage size; 16GB these days isn't a huge amount fro storage, and for the price I would have expected double that, or at the very least a slot for a micro SD card to enable expansion of the memory. Still, 16GB is no small memory, I can download most of my music onto it, but I admit I'm greedy – I want to put it all on there and have room left over.I absolutely love this but have given it four stars instead of five for the two reasons mentioned:* storage space limitation* dislike of earphones.Update 13 DecI've been using this player for a few days now and have noticed a rather annoying aspect of the earphones and socket. I'm using earphones with a similar design to those included, the only difference being the actual buds that fit into the ears. The right-angled jack is exactly the same. The little cap covering the 'phone socket is attached to the player by a small, flexible tag; when the 'phones are plugged in the cover tends to push the jack out of the socket, particularly if the jack is turned downwards. If the jack is swivelled upwards - i.e. with the cable coming out at the top - it's better, but it doesn't solve the problem completely. Why Sandisk have decided to provide covers for this and the charging socket is beyond me; well I know why, but it seems unnecessary.Obviously this wouldn't happen with Bluetooth 'phones, which I still haven't tried.

I bought this mp3 player because I sold my other one.I have done a review of this on youtube. Here is the link:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KsQYQzpm4eII will set my review up in paragraphs each about different part of the product.Sound Quality: 5/5I used to listen to music from my phone. I didn't like it as I always had to turn it on to skip songs. Also worrying about battery life. This MP3 player produces the same quality from the headphones. The highest you can listen to or in other words;same as from the phone. The volume it outputs is also quite loud. I have chosen Europe as the region if you need to know.Build Quality: 4.5/5Others say it doesn't have a good build quality, I don't think so.I does feel a tiny bit cheap but overall it seems very sturdy and I don't think it will break from occasional drops.Operating System: 5/5Watch my review on Youtube. I go through the menu and all the options. The system is colourful and is nice to use. It looks good and runs well on this player.Size: 5/5I thought this player was going to be too small since my previous one was very very small. I compare my previous one(my brother's) to this one in my youtube review. It turns out this is the right size. The display is not too big but feels big enough for overall use. It isn't too small either. The buttons are big and nicely sized so they are easy to press.Controls: 5/5This player has simple controls just like the previous models. The volume rocker on the side, play/pause, menu, forward and backwards with an additional middle button(same operation as forward button). It is easy to navigate in the OS and the buttons feel nice to press.Music Equaliser: 5/5you don't really need many equaliser options when you have the custom option but they are there anyways which is a good thing. Lots of options from the equaliser to choose from as opposed to my previous player.Compatibility: 5/5This mp3 player can play most of the audio files formats including:-MP3-FLAC-WAV-AAC(itunes I think)-look in item description for all the formats or in my video review. If you are worried how it works with itunes and transferring your music to this - don't worry. Just drag and drop to the mp3 player and your done!Included Ear-buds: 5/5this item comes included with a pair of earbuds. Some people say the earbuds are not the best. They are wrong! These are exactly the same quality as the ones that you get with a new phone. I have had no problems with them at all and they produce amazing sound quality.Features: 5/5There is so much you can do in this mp3 player, I will list them down:-listen to music-listen to ratio-stopwatch-timer-long battery life-big clip on the back(so you can hook to clothes and such)-delete song-create playlists(pain)-file manager(browse through music)-multitasking(listen to radio or music while changing settings or browsing through folders)-lock the keys(like in previous models)[you guys were wondering init]Conclusion: 5/5Overall I think this is a great mp3 player you can buy. I got it for £34.?? And that is a great price for what it offers. £55 is the main and original price...(as in retail price) and I think it's just a little too much. Maybe maximum of £45 is best I think.Either way - recommend! Throw your ipod away and forget the fact that you have to use itunes to get music on the player.

Priced at £28.99 as at the 14th June 2015, I think that this is a really nice piece of equipment and would be ideal for a teenager; particularly one like mine who has a habit of losing similar sized pieces of equipment, albeit more expensive such as his ipod nano (enough said). This item whilst holding only 8Gb within its internal memory can accommodate a micro SD card and therefore can be expanded to accommodate more tracks if 2000 is not enough. The player is really nice and small and would be ideal for someone who wants to use it for running or an outdoor activity, not just for those who sit at home or wander around in a daze.Setup is simple rendering the poor instructions unnecessary and I have transferred tracks from both media player on a PC and our imac, both with ease, as well as transferring across tracks downloaded from Amazon; transfers are quick and so far I have not failed once in transferring music over. Sound quality is ok with the supplied earphones, but I have to say the quality of output increased significantly when I inserted a set of Sony Deep Bass Earphones (around £12.00), but those supplied are adequate remembering the total outlay price. My son has used it now for a week and has not had to re-charge it and therefore I think that the 18 hours claimed might be achievable. He certainly wore it for much of yesterday and was pleased that it remains charged and I think that he was using it this morning for a couple of hours, but I was not strong enough to enter his bedroom to see! Whilst he has enjoyed the player, I did give it a good trial myself and listened to a number of podcasts as well as the radio, which I thought was OK; spoiled now with DAB and moving around meant that the reception was not as good as it might have been. I charged it when I initially transferred music across to it via an imac, but you can also charge it through any charger which carries a 5v charge via USB. A dedicated charger is available at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mains-lead-SanDisk-Sansa-Player/dp/B003BKZM5O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434962903&sr=8-1&keywords=Sandisk+Charger at £7.99.In summary, this player is small (I really did like it and it compares well to the original ipod mini in this regard) it has nice, simple controls, has a clear screen and more importantly is well made and easy to use. At the price, I have no hesitation in awarding it 5 stars, particularly as you can expand it to more than double the capacity for less that £5.00 and ultimately, if a teenager loses it, it isn't quite as bad as losing his ipod nano.

Intended purpose: To listen to my huge library of audiobooks on the go.Length of time I've had this item: 1 weekVolume of use in that time period: Very high (several hours a day)Cons:1. Charging cable is too short (six inches total cable length - a little longer IF you include the length of the plugs)2. Did not like the headphones (Hard in ear headphones which do not fit all ear types - as a result I'm using separate headphones and so can not comment on the audio quality of the headphones included)3. Instruction leaflet woefully inadequate and does not include functional instruction of the different menu options or how to use the player itself.4. Menu system not particularly user intuitive and has taken a bit of getting used to5.Volume does not turn up particularly highPros:1. Price2. For audio book purposes this player far outdoes its competition3. Player will resume from the last place in each audio book you listen to. It does this without having to save your place or add a bookmark. It retains this data even after a nights recharging.4. Can play books from audible without the need for additional conversion. (you must add the device to your audible library)5. Had many great user settings which allow you to adjust the length of time the screen will stay on, the brightness of the screen and so on.6. Will allow you to change the playback speed at which you listen to your book.7. Has a great sound. Is neither tinny nor distorted.8 Clip is sturdy and will clip on anywhere you would like to put it making it very convenient. Conclusion: I would thoroughly recommend this player to anyone but especially to people who listen to a lot of audio books. I have tried numerous players and devices, some of which were extremely expensive but I have yet to find a player that comes close to the Sandisc Clip Jam. I love my new player and this will now be the brand and model I stick with.Extremely pleased.Note: As stated, the instruction leaflet is badly written. Please know, for those who buy this player... buttons can be locked if you click and hold the back arrow. Player is unlocked by repeating this process. For anyone who is having difficulty with the resume function - make sure your audio books are set to audio books under their genre and that you're placing them in the audio book folder on the player.Thank you.

I needed a new MP3 player but didn't want to pay hundreds of pounds to become a slave of Apple. This Sansa Clip had decent reviews & - importantly - an SD card expansion slot. After using it for a couple of months I'm pleased to report its purchase as a good decision. There are other, cheaper generic brands on the market but they are all the same 'old' technology thats been around for years & most now don't come with an expansion slot which is vital if you have a large music or audiobook selection. TheSansa Clip Jam is a compact, well finished & well built unit. The controls are sensible & take little learning to master. Audio quality is good, approaching that of units three times its price but you will need a semi-decent pair of earphones or buds to get the best out of it. One pain in the butt is the volume limiter which has to be overcome each time you switch on but this only takes 5 seconds. The control system, as mentioned, is easy to navigate & sensibly deployed - Sansa have put more effort into this than most manufacturers. For instance, when choosing music by genre or album the shuffle function is selectable from within the folder your accessing - negating the need to go into menu mode & switch it on or off every time you want to change it. The display is uncomplicated & quite bright - no silly graphics. Connection to PC is reliable & the library updates itself quickly after disconnection. The simple idea of the clip is very useful, saving the need to buy a pouch or putting the thing in your pocket to get scratched by your keys or falling onto the ground. The unit also has a FM radio & Dictation functions but I don't really bother with them. Please note it does not support graphics & doesn't store pictures or video. I'm very happy with this purchase, would recommend it to anyone and would buy again should it become necessary.

On set up if you choose 'Europe' as your location then when you increase the volume it will only increase half way at which point you will have to read a safety message and accept with the 'ok' button before you can increase volume any further. To avoid this annoying and inconvenient message every time you attempt to increase volume above half way then make sure you select 'rest of the world' on initial set up rather then 'europe'.If you have already selected 'europe' then not to worry just follow the below process and you can change to 'rest of the world'. This is my second Sandisk MP3 player – I bought the 8 GB Clip Jam last year and was fairly happy with it. Now I have the Clip Sport Plus which has twice the memory (16 GB) a bigger display and is twice the size – though still relatively small. The supplied headphones appear to have been ‘upgraded’ somewhat, as they now seem more robust and conveniently come with several sizes of ear buds – they’re also marked Left & Right. I’ll benefit from my experience with the Clip Jam as I found the supplied instructions limited but the online Pdf manual; much more detailed and helpful. The life saving function I’m happiest I found was ‘Replay Gain’ which provides a method for keeping the perceived volumelevel constant during playback so you don’t have to keep adjusting the volume for tracks or albums that have been recorded/mixed with wide differences in volume. Navigating through the menus is fairly easy once you get used to it - thanks to the larger/brighter backlit screen - and offers a variety of ways to customise your listening experience; from pre-set equalizer settings like rock, jazz and classical as well as a custom option where you can adjust the on-screen equalizer to your own taste. The only problem I’ve encountered was the Bluetooth connection – I don’t have Bluetooth headphones so I tried this out with a Betron PowerCube speaker and although both devices said they were connected there was no sound from the speaker – I couldn’t find anything about this online – but as this product hasn’t been released yet I’ll give it a few weeks and look again – apart from that this is a great little player with great functionality, although I must point out it has no expandability as it now has no SD card slot.

The Sandisk clip jam is a neat little MP3 player. Very small and lightweight with enough basic features to make it useful but not too much to over complicate or make it unsuccessfully expensive.Adding music is very simple. Having come from using Apple products it's great to be able to just plug the player into my laptop and drag music files across. I dragged over entire folders (albums) and individual songs. When I unplugged the player it spent a few seconds updating the media before everything sowed up. When it did it all worked flawlessly. Everything showed up as expected. As long as the correct information is in the file (title, artist, album etc.)then it's easy to find on the player.I've spent quite a bit of time using the radio too. Again very impressed. It has a few pre-sets which are easy to edit and select from. The reception is good, even when indoors. It uses the headphone cable as an antenna so if you do find reception problems, just make sure the headphone cable is stretched out a little. My only complaint with he radio is that it takes an awful long time to scan the frequencies. Even holding down the scan button for a long time just goes up the frequency in small steps. Not a huge issue, but annoying when your're first setting up presents and it puts you at the beginning of the frequency range. My only other complaint is when fast forwarding through songs. There is no sped up preview unlike my iPod. This makes it difficult to skip forward to a specific park of a track.Overall though it's a great little mp3 player. Basic, but does the basics well. It's great to not have to use any proprietary software.

Bought this recently as a present for someone, but I had to set it up for them, plus put music, so I got to use it a good couple of hours. It's a very good player, lightweight, with good sound (on B&W P3), useful clip, useful bluetooth functionality, which worked first time with my Cambridge Audio Go, ideal for gym/exercise. It's bigger than the previous Sansa players, but I would say 2/3 the size of a credit card (height and width).Things I did not like about this (compared to Sansa Clip + and Creative Zen I usually use, I know those are ancient, but they work fine) is that due to the 'waterproofing' I cannot use my expensive headphones with 'larger' 3.5mm plugs, plus it takes some effort to push the buttons. The former is not a problem at all, if you intend to bluetooth it to your speakers/headphones, which is probably the best if you are doing exercise with them. No microSD slot, but I would guess for most people 16GB is enough. On setup I chose 'rest of the world' region, and the volume goes plenty loud, only needed 1/3 volume. It's laughable that there is a menu for 'books,' I'm not sure you would be able to read anything other than the song names, even the album art is a little fuzzy. Stopwatch and timer is a useful feature, although at least on timer, if time is up, sadly it does not give you a chime when you're listening music, you must look at the small screen.I guess this would be most people's 2nd mp3 player for exercise, and they would have a bigger 32GB + one for normal days, however if you intend to use this as your primary mp3 player, as long as 16GB is enough for you, I would thoroughly recommend it.

Firstly the most awesome thing about this player is the battery life.I use it most days in the gym for an hour and I need to charge it typically once every 2 weeks. This might be because I am usingSennheiser CX300 earphones that draw very little power.I’m no audiophile but to me the sound quality is good for the drum & bass I listen to.The device is very light so you can easily clip it to your tracksuit bottoms or shorts.Clipping it to the pocket works best for me.The lock function is good, however sometimes if you accidentally press the big button it powers down … annoying but not such a big deal. The radio is adequate but sometimes exhibits choopy reception – I don’t use the radio so can livewith that. There are other functions like a stopwatch which a fiddly to get to.I haven’t needed to us an micro SD as the built in storage is fine for limited listening I do.Please bear in mind my review is based on using the SanDisk Clip Jam with a decent set of headphones. A word of warning it will sound very different with the free headphones you get with the device – I didn’t even try them … I chucked them straight in the bin … you get what you pay for and you can’t expect a decent set of headphones with a 25 quid player.I only review things that are either really really good or really bad and this player is in the former group i.e. really really good (for the money) If you are after a cheap, light reasonable sounding player with a simple user interface and clip I would definitely recommend the SanDisk Clip Jam.BTW. Please please can other amazon reviewers stop saying “It does what it says on the tin” … so annoying.

This product has been criticised for looking plastic, but it has proven very robust. You need to learn the way it operates but after you do that, you will be pleased because it is very small and, yes, it can also be very loud, reproducing pretty well all of the frequencies. You need to learn how to create lists by exporting them in the right format using your PC windows player. You need to be aware of its limitation that the list must then be stored in the same folder were are the songs. There are three global lists that you can use to mix songs that have been stored in different folders and you do not need to create them. You can navigate the contents in several ways but the best is by folder. The factory settings in EU set its max volume to very little and that may strike very negatively at first. It didn't with me since I had headache just few days before after listening music from the tablet at top power so I decided to get used to the low volume: it isn't too difficult to start appreciating that level. However, after weeks of re-education I realised that in certain context, when I am on a bus or train, being able to raise the volume above the Max set by EU is important. It is actually easy to override the setting by resetting to factory and then choosing "Rest of the World" in the location option. What is strikingly surprising, if you do so, is that half of the new level is already too much, at least in my case, to hear as loud as you may like it and the top level would probably burn your ears but it could be useful if you attach this tiny device to an external system. Exceptional value for the price.

excellent quality for a very reasonable price, seems well engineered, simple key layout, sound quality seems as good as any, usb lead is pitifully short, but they are pennies on e bay for a decent length replacement, £2.50 for 5 inc postage so no big deal, the sandisk website recommends you reset the sound level (replay gain) to 'rest of the world' in the settings menu on start up, as the default United Soviet States of Europe, 'big brother' setting is pitiful low in the interests of not hearing it properly, (half of the max output) so you don't damage your hearing and become a burden on the state, even if you want to run it as a line out to a car radio or the like when full output is preferred to keep the background noise to a minnumum, never mind all that 'nanny knows best'the website also says the max card size is 32GB, not so, mine is quite happlily playing the RED ICE radio archive on a 64GB sandisk card so it may also take 128GB not tried it yet, i have thrown away 3 expensive archos 504's which all jammed up and died, and two of the cheapo i pod copies bought at the same time several months back from amazon as the first one repeatedly malfunctioned after daily use, followed by the spare which developed identical symptoms when sparked up and used as a replacement, built in obsolescence on a timer in the chip? hopefully this sandisk unit will fare better, i have two same as before one as a spare just in case of problems, hopefully the fact that its got Sandisks name on it it will last a bit better in actual use, time will tell.

What with RAM and USB drives being so cheap I can't understand why high capacity MP3 players are so expensive - but alas they are. So the major plus for this player is that it has 8GB internal and a Micro SD slot - so for an extra £15 I have a 40GB MP3 player. The good: The sound is loud, clear and with a custom EQ if you want. Obviously headphones play a key role, but the Clip is an improvement on my old Creative Zen, less muffled yet with clear highs and plenty of bass. The unit is small and light. There are enough settings to get the player how you want it yet the menus are obvious and easy to navigate. The headphones with it are pretty good (though I use my own). The bad: The clip is weak and doesn't grip very well. The unit does feel cheap as it's so light and plastic. The screen is too small to show a full album title and it can be hard to navigate. My biggest gripe is that there are often one-too-many clicks needed. For example - when you choose to play an album you have to click in to the album, then down to the first track and then play. No biggie but annoying after a while. I'm used to being able to highlight the album and just press play which is three less clicks. All in all the sound is impressive and with an SD card you can rival the iPod for capacity for half the cost. If you can tolerate a little extra navigation and a somewhat limited screen width for titles this is probably the best player you''ll get short of forking out an extra £50-100 for serious gear.

Always buy from a reputable make like Sandisk, those random Chinese cheapo ones do not cut it. I used this for audio books for the kids (one yellow one blue). Firstly if you have audiobooks that have been burnt from DVD then not all of them may be tagged correctly (it only takes one or two incorrectly tagged audio books to mess this menu content up). In this scenario what I did was go into "Settings" and remove "Audiobooks" from the menu and forced the kids 6 and 9 to use the file browser and they picked it up without any issues.Battery life is AMAZING and has lasted days. Just remember to charge for 3 hours on USB. If you use a PC make sure you give it the full 3 hours and it does not go to sleep. They have lasted days of use on harder to drive than earphones with Sony headphones.Becuase these are for the kids I wanted to use headphones and not the in the ear that may not fit or have enough midbass that results in them turning the volume up and damaging their ears on the high volume high frequency "tinny" sound.I have knocked one star off because it is not Mac compatible without being forced to be a nerd. What I did was use iTubes to burn MP3 (at 64kbs VBR join Stereo cut off 10Hz) and move using Google drive to the PC.My yellow one was obviously used before as it had the previous owners stuff on there but otherwise, it was mint and perfect.

I use an mp3 player on a daily basis on my commute to and from work. I was very happy with my old Creative Zen Mosaic player, but with 2gb storage I was weekly on the point of having to delete stuff to accommodate more.I initially bought an unknown brand but well rated ‘MhMadi’ player but returned it and gave the Clip Sport a try.• Volume is very poor on normal UK settings, especially for audiobooks/podcasts – it needs to be adjusted to American settings to get the EU throttle removed (thanks to another reviewer for advising this) then it’s fine;• Shame there is no mini speaker on the player – my old Zen had one and it can be very handy;• There are folders set up for Audiobooks and podcasts, but the former only works when used with Audible, which I’m not a subscriber to. I’m still having issues with podcasts – transfer them onto the Clip and it only shows up in the Music folder, not the Podcast folder!?• There is no search by ‘genre’ setting! – why on earth not?? Again, my old Zen has this! From the above you can see there are some glitches that need ironing out. On playback it seems a decent player and I’ll hopefully get around these issues, but I am slightly confounded that my player from about 5 years ago has more functionality that the majority of players on the market now
