18 Months ago, I purchased a new Sony Nex 5. The camera came with a Sony Nex battery. I decided to purchase a extra battery on Amazon sold as Genuine Sony, the battery cost less than £30, compared to a Sony shop battery at nearly £80.00I have used both batteries equaly, both gave very similar performaces. Last month one of the batteries totally died. The other one is still working like new. On closer inspection I noticed that one of the batteries was a fake Sony, as described in the Amazon reviews. Which battery do you think died? No it was not the fake, it was the genuine Sony that came with the camera that died. The fake one is still working. I bought this as a secondary battery for the Sony NEX-7, for which is works perfectly fine.The problem I have with these batteries, and indeed the Sony NEX-7 in general, is the battery performance. My primary camera is a Canon 5D Mark II so I am used to leaving it continuously on and have the battery last for days and days of shooting.This is certainly not the case with Sony. I left my camera on overnight and the battery was depleted. Likewise, it runs down quickly during the normal day of shooting, possibly due to the constant use of live view. It is because of this that I needed a secondary battery, for which this one was perfect.I have given this product four stars simply due to the relatively high price and the fact the battery runs out so quickly.

I brought this battery as a spare for my NEX-5. I used it for the first time on a recent weekend away. With a full charge the battery took about 250 shots over 3 days and still showed 30% battery at the end of the weekend. This was consistent with the standard battery that came with the camera.The battery I received from Stark Tch was a genuine Sony EU product, in a sealed blister pack and contained the Sony hologram in the top left-hand corner below the W Series branding. I was a bit concerned that this might not be a legitimated product as it was nearly 50% cheaper then the price on other websites but this seems to be a genuine product.Although even at £[]

Product is as described. Genuine Sony FW50 Battery that is a perfect spare battery for my Sony Nex-5. I fully charge it and set a timelapse to take one shot automatically every 5 seconds. It managed around 1,300 photos in 2 hours of continuous shooting before the battery hit 0% (although it was shot without flash and i wasn't playing around with the menus to waste battery) I'm confident that if I used this battery under normal circumstances, it could last well over 600 shots on one charge. Impressive battery life for a digital camera.Sony only claim that a full charge of the fw50 would yield 330 shots. This proves that you can get more than 330 shots from one charge.Great product.

Excellent battery and 100% genuine product.Essentially, Sony have added a new green 3 dimensional hologram to the new style NP-FW50 that I don't think could be faked easily or cheaply. If you rotate the battery whilst looking at the hologram at different angles you will see a serial number (always email Sony with it to confirm your items real if you are unsure), a letter L and finally the Sony logo.Always buy from Amazon directly, avoid 3rd party sellers like the plague when it comes to camera accessories - 99% of the time you will receive a fake item.Expensive item but great quality.

Recently bought a NEX-5N (wanted to upgrade from compacts, hadn't intended spending quite so much - but heh. it was an anniversary pressie to myself!!) I always like to have a spare battery for when I'm away all day so I asked how much a spare would cost - £79 sir, but as you're buying the camera, I'll knock you £20 off - err, no thanks.Saw this one & read the review - when it turned up it's a Sony battery, Sony packaging, Sony hologram on the card - works fine, registers with the cameras battery life indicator - bargain.Sony Centre - what a rip-off

All the reviews I've seen about Sony NEX5KS Alpha Compact System Camera - 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 OSS Lens - Black said that it had poor battery performance. Thus, I've got this one to avoid losing those moments that won't happen again.Fact is that (even at -12ºC) I didn't had to use this spare battery that much, since, as I've said, the one that came with the camera lasted quite well for my use.But, I'm pretty sure I'll use this one in my next trip.So, in all, it's a great product, but, in my case, it was not that much use.

I wanted to take a spare battery for my Sony NEX-5 camera on a trip of a lieftimetime to Norway and Spitzbergen because charging the original battery my be a problem. Although the description does not say that the NPFW50 is compatible it is the correct battery and is identical to the original provided. I have no doubts that I will be able to shoot all day with no worries. The usual advice of keeping the spare battery warm will apply to extend its charge in freezing conditions while out on a frozen glacier.

Was concerned about the reported fake items being sold on Amazon, so went with seller offering the item in the middle price bracket of those available. The item arrived from Global Bargains UK (fulfilled by Amazon) and it is a GENUINE Sony battery.It differs slightly from the battery which came with my NEX-5N, but I understand from Sony that the design/information on batteries supplied to their factories for inclusion in items such as cameras differs slightly from those available in the retail market.

I bought this product with some trepidation having read the previous review about it not working as I have the Sony NEX5N which is the new model. I contacted Sony and was assured that this battery should work in my camera and sure enough it does. I have charged it with no problem and tried it in the camera. Everything seems fine. I have yet to use it for a shoot but I'm hoping that it is going to be OK. Once I have used it for any length of time, if I have any problems I will update this review.

We looked on line for a spare battery for our new camera, although the prices varied from each seller, some batteries were not the Sony make, although they tried to pass off a such, we decided to pay the extra money and take a chance with this seller, and we were not disappointed the battery arrived in good time well packaged and more important fits the camera as good as the original one and does not "rattle around" as some customers reported with a cheaper substitute. worth the money, thanks.

My 5N was shipped with a faulty battery and I ordered this whilst waiting for a replacement to be sorted out. I didn't read the reviews until after I'd bought it and then was worried that it wouldn't work. However, the battery turned up a quickly and I dropped into the camera with some trepidation; luckily it seems that Amazon have a new compatible batch and the camera powered straight on.So I think you can order now comfortably if you have a 5N.

Seems to be OK It is too early to say whether or not it holds it's charge as well as the original battery that comes with A33.It is identical in every way to the original and one can only assume that it is. This can only reassure those who suspect batteries from other than original sites, this one seems to do what it says. I am happy with my purchase. Time will tell.

This was for my partner's CSC Sony NEX6. The cameras might be as versatile and lighter than DSLR's but the batteries last no longer than compact camera ones, so a spare is essential. My partner had previously bought a third party battery and had problems charging it, so I bought her an OEM one (saves me a lot of earache)

Seems to be a genuine Sony product. I went for a Sony battery after reading reviews on cheaper options. Only tried briefly but appears to be holding charge and working as expected. Seller delivered very quickly. Only downside is the price but who ever thought Sony accessories were cheap, but a star knocked off anyway.
