This would have got a 5 star review but given the price was only £10.15 plus P&P last week, the sudden hike to nearly £14 has diminished it's appeal significantly. So this review compares and contrasts it to the Panasonic battery that came with my new TZ30. That took several hours to charge in the camera (the only means of charging with the TZ30) whereas this one took a far shorter time. It appears, to all intents and purposes, visually, almost identical and to the same spec as the original. The camera also accepted it straight away with no issues at all. I have read a lot of horror stories regarding cheap Chinese copies so, like many others, "played safe" by buying what purports to be a genuine Panasonic battery. As a spare, I will probably not use it much at all so may not be best placed to add much more so all I will say is it appears good and does what it says.My only other comment is that after running off 100 photos in the fully-charged TZ30 on the original battery, plus a couple of short videos, the charge still indicated the full 3 bars so it may be that the tales of short battery life and 280 shots per charge on the TZ30 may be exaggerated and I may have bought a spare too soon when possibly I could have got away with not buying one at all.

This spare battery is the only one recomended by Panasonic for its latest top of the range Lumix TZ10 compact camera (bought this year as a retirement present) and although its far more expensive than its competitors I decided to play safe in buying one and have not been disapointed since with it or the cameras original battery performance. My wife and I enjoy a lot of videoing and picture taking with this camera whilst out and about hence consider a spare battery essential as a backup. This is mainly for historical reasons as we were used to older compact cameras using NiCad & NiMH rechargable batteries which didn't hold their charge long enough to take and review more than a few dozen photo's at a time whereas now the TZ10 can take 100's of stills on a charge also including movies. What with SDHC card capacities doubling every year my current 16Gb card can hold 3000 plus photo's so we have no excuse not to snap away.

If it were not for the cost this would have been given 5 stars. This is reflected in the heading of this review. I bought a Panasonic TZ6 camera for a "holiday of a life time" to the Nile and was concerned that the opportunity to recharge batteries may have been rare and so bought a spare battery. Since then I have felt secure in the knowledge that I had a charged spare with me and this peace of mind is worth it. However these batteries seem to go on for ever once charged and the battery that I started with was still going strong 480 images(including about 3 minutes of video)10 days later. This exceeds any previous experience of battery life by some distance.I have not yet used it to exhaustion so do not know the ultimate limit. The advantage of a spare battery is peace of mind and that the camera is not out of commission during the charging process. For these reasons I would recommend this product.

I've been using this battery for the last week in my Panasonic TZ30 whilst holidaying and have had no problems. In fact, it seems to work just as well as my originals that came with my camera for half the price. It has the original seriel number on it [ie it includes the 'e' at the end] and looks identical to one of my originals. However, given that both of my original batteries of the same number look slightly different from each other, it's hard to tell if this is a genuine or a fake as there seems to be no set look to the genuine battery. The finish on this battery is a little more matt than on my other original batteries - not sure if that means anything. But the bottom line is,it works absolutely fine - I have absolutely no complaints and definitely recommend this product.

I ordered this battery as a necessary spare for my TZ7. What arrived was a DMW-BCG 10 but it did not have the letter E. I tried to get Panasonic to tell me if it was genuine. They said they'd enquire but after about 3 weeks, they phoned and said they couldn't be sure and hadn't had a response from Panasonic Japan. I tried it in the camera and it works. That means it must be genuine because Panasonic have fixed it so that clones cannot be used. I have version 1.2 of the firmware.I am quite happy with the battery but don't expect any help from Panasonic. They will claim that you don't need a spare (not true) and that anything you didn't buy from them directly is a fake.Panasonic UK want to help but my impression is that Panasonic HQ in Japan don't.

I received delivery of this battery very promptly for my new TZ30. It arrived in a genuine Panasonic box and has the suffix "E" clearly printed on it after the model number DMW-BCG10. It is completely consistent with the picture on this page. I also compared it with the battery that was supplied with the camera, and, the two are similar except that the original one has "IC" and "PSE" approval marks. However, the moulding detail etc. looks the same on both batteries and the performance of the new one so far seems just as good as the original. As long as the performance is maintained this appears a real bargain at around half the price I have seen for a Panasonic original battery elsewhere.Seems like a good deal.

This is the genuine article. Holds it's charge and gives reliable, strong performance. Charges in three hours. Lithium-ion has the advantage of no "memory-effect" (the reduction of capacity that occurs from repeated charging, that other batteries suffer from over time). With these batteries, you should not let them run down completely but put them back on charge whenever it reaches the last bar on the battery display. I bought this as a second battery, which I just swap over whenever my other battery runs out. This means I'm never caught short (I purchased a second SD high capacity (10) rated card for my camera too). Very happy with my purchases.

It's essential for me to have a spare battery for my Lumix camera when I'm out and about. The TZ30 uses up battery power far quicker than my old TZ20.Buying a new battery wasn't as simple as it ought to be. The Panasonic RRP is a total rip off and I'm too tight to pay full price, but buying a bargain priced battery off the internet carries a risk. There are a lot of fake batteries coming out of China and many don't work with Panasonic's software. Is this one an original? I don't know, but I've been using it for the last four months; it works like an original and I only paid £15.99 for it so I'm happy.

Having recently bought the Lumix TZ10 at a great price I wanted a back up battery and the Panasonic site was too much so I went for this.. I was surprised to find it was the genuine article for half the price coming in the original Panasonic box unlike some dealers who say it's genuine and it's not.. It arrived fully charged and I put it to the test right away. It wore me out before it gave up.:) and it charged to full capacity in the alloted 2 hours as specified.. I'm well pleased, so if you need a spare battery (genuine) look no further, you won't be disappointed.

I bought this as a backup battery for my Lumix TZ30. The original battery that came with the camera has the code DMC BCG10E. That is why I ordered this item, as the picture clearly shows this code in the photograph. However, the battery that arrived was stamped with the code DMC BCG10PP (although the box it was in had a label marked DMC BCG10E). I was initially concerned about this mismatch, but after some googling, I decided to charge it up and try it anyway. So far it has been working in the camera perfectly well for a week.

The new firmware means that cheaper alternatives wont work in the TZ7 - which Panasonic claim is good for us - those cheaper wicked imitations wont damage your shiny new camera! Yeah right! The TZ7 is heavy on the battery so you do really need a spare which means biting the bullet and paying the over priced extra for the Panasonic branded one. As another reviewer said, of course it works just fine, it's just a bit galling paying through the nose - but then life's too short to worry about an extra £20!

I made the mistake of leaving the camera unused for a long period with the battery installed not realising that this would completely drain the battery. When this happens the battery will not hold a charge and has to be replaced. I was shocked when I discovered the cost of an authentic replacement battery but purchased this model before leaving for a holiday in Greece. First class product which gave reliable results. Won't be leaving this battery in camera, must read instructions next time!!

Bought this Panasonic battery as a spare for my wife's Panasonic Lumix TZ18, it does exactly what a camera battery should, once charged it served it's time in the camera faultlessly, it's been recharged and is waiting to take its turn to perform faultlessly again. Buy Panasonics own batteries, as they have a software block to stop you using any other makers batteries, it's a bit draconian but if that's how they want to play you haven't a great deal of choice.

These batteries are those recommended for my LUmix camera which has been working hard recently taking several hundred photos a week. I am shortly going to Guyana and will be unable to recharge batteries all the time, so I wanted two extra ones to make sure I don't end up without a battery to use. Incidentally when I took my Panasonic lumix to Peru and Ecuador for 3.5 weeks, I only had to charge the batteries twice and took nearly a 1000 photos.

The TZ20 is a lovely camera but heavy on batteries. Never go out for the day without at least one spare battery - preferably fully charged!Panasonic wants an arm and a leg for a battery and Jessops can't even find you the "compatible" one they advertise. This battery fits the bill, seemingly being a genuine Panasonic product, reasonably priced and completely interchangeable with the original battery. Delivery was also free and fast.
