I needed a device to record everything that is said in a control room for six to eight hours on the trot.Without adding more memory, this device will run for about 50 hours on one set of batteries and record about 50 hours of audio. It's neat that you can press a button to "tag" a location on the recording, so if there's an incident that we will likely want to listen to later, it takes half a second to prod the "tag" button even whilst responding to the incident. It's neat that it has a built-in USB plug so you can't lose the special cable, just slide out the connector and push into the side of your laptop. The supplied audio edit software is ON it so can be installed on any computer FROM the recorder. My only slight gripe is the provided software, whilst good at jumping to the tag positions, is very poor for trying to isolate and save just a selected portion of the recording. Fortunately there are plenty of WAV editing tools on the hairnet. Also this takes regular AAA batteries, it isn't rechargeable. But one pair of batteries last ages, and AAAs are small enough I can carry a pack of ten around with it, low stress.

I don't normally write a review immediately I've received a product but the PX370 recorder is excellent for the price. The controls are intuitive, the sound quality is excellent - I was concerned after reading a couple of lowish reviews - and the software it came with is again simple, effective and just what I wanted. There are a few settings. I've used auto voice and interviews and the quality is fine for both. I won't use it for lectures so can't comment on that aspect. A trial 'meeting' setting, sitting around a table with my wife, gave a little background hum but the voices were easy enough to understand. I've got some audio editing software and it was easy to edit out the hum. I'm really chuffed. It feels a little 'plasticky' but that's hardly a criticism for the price. I've used analogue dictaphones in the past and the performance of this little device beats them hands down. I write books and am just about to interview a number of people and that's why I went for this. Wish I'd gone digital a couple of years ago. I'm chuffed with my purchase. Delivery to a box came on time.

This is easy to use. Recording is good enough although there is noticeable background hiss. Downloading to your laptop is quick and you can delete files and create folders from the laptop into the device. The software from Sony is unstable. Sometimes it works the way you want and other times not. I dispensed with it after one use and used the laptop's ability to manage the files on the external device. It would be nice for Sony to put some filter software in to remove the background filters. The inbuilt filters have no effect whether they are on or off. Cheap and useful. The clip microphone I bought to go with it is redundant as the internal microphone is equal to it.It is a lot easier to use without a clip microphone. Glad I have it.

So far I've been really impressed with the sound it picks up from a decent distance away when on auto detect. It's small, light and very handy. Decent features and sound control. It only loses a star as the screen isn't backlit which can be annoying in certain situations (ex. in the evenings, a dark lecture theatre or visual impairment). I've also tested it out with a Lavalier mic and it's even better. Waiting on a case as this version doesn't come with one nor a strap. It does come with batteries which are handy for using straight out of the box.The packaging was a nightmare and you practically have to destroy it in order to get the product out.Seemed excessive for the size of the product and not disabled friendly.

I used this product to provide back up sound for my GoPro camera. The mic on the camera is good, but is in the wrong place for commentary and the unit is too small to fit a a windsock. I fitted a clip mic with its own windsock to the ICD-PX370 voice recorder. The recorder performed flawlessly once I discovered the lock switch on the side (locks it in record mode). In really challenging windy conditions the recorded sound was crystal clear and was easily re-synched when editing to the GoPro pictures (and its imperfect sound track). Easily good enough quality for YouTube.

This is a nifty little device that does exactly what it promises. I have just used it for the first time in an interview and it recorded everything clearly. The sound file transferred easily onto my computer and I will transcribe it later. The only improvement I can think of is a warning sound or signal when the batteries are getting low. I'd hate them to die unnoticed during an interview. As it is, I can keep an eye on the display screen to make sure everything is OK.Overall, it is an excellent product and not too expensive.

I worked through the instuctions and found them to be very clear and precise. I was very impressed with the recording quality and I could think of many situations when this would be very useful, such as recording training sessions or courses. It is slightly smaller than I thought (like a small mobile phone or walkie talkie).I have not fully tested this device so I gave it only 4 stars. However, my first impression of this voice recorder is a good one.

This Is Fantastic for its price and if your just starting out At College or like The Sound of your own voice. I Have only 2 complaints.1: The Audio Playback on this is not The Best but when you plug it into your P.C it really sounds clear. It Can pick up sound well it just cant play it back well.2: It has no backlighting which means you need to have light on The Screen to read it. Its Like The Old Game Boys. Cant Use It in The Dark.

I am a researcher and use this device to record interviews. the sound quality is good and it deals with all sorts of background noise. I often use it to reocrd telephone interviews which I do with my phone on speaker. It works fine. Its great that it has a built in USB jack so you cannot lose anything vital however due to the structure around my PC's USB ports it did not fit in so I had to buy a separate cable to connect the two anyway.

I use this Sony and a similar Olympus digital recorder all the time for interviews. This Sony has a better microphone and range. But my last one died in a pouring rain downfall, so be aware, it doesn't like weather. I nearly had a heart attack when I couldn't find a file to play back but as long as you set the date and time, it's easy to search.Only problem so far is that I haven't worked out if or how to send sound files elsewhere.

These are good, only used for one event to record voices for a video. One of them has a fault on the screen (lines missing) I was going to put up with it but shouldn't have to. I have another chance to use them again now and would like it to work properly seeing as it should be covered. I can't find how to return it anywhere. Sony website appears to not accept online sales delivery as proof of purchase so a bit stuck?

I love this, was exactly what I needed.I wanted something small to use for field interviews for my podcast and this is excellent. I can connect a mic if needed but generally find it’s not needed as the built in one is fine. It is great for connecting mic socket to a headphone jack to record music, etc too.The built in usb connection is the best bit though so I can quickly transfer files to my laptop for editing.

Whilst the Sony ICD-PX370, has a built-in microphone which can only record in Mono, stereo recordings may be achieved by using Sony's recommended separate microphone. The useful information, like sample rate (mp3 bit rate), is in the documentation, but one has to really look for this data. This information should be included in the product overview.Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the device.

Easy to use. At first was a little disappointed at sound quality when i played back recording. I transferred the recordings to pc and was pleasantly surprised at the excellent quality. Turns out the weak link is the built-in speaker. Very easy to transfer recordings to pc via the usb, doesn't get mentioned but also works with a linux pc as it shows up like a flash drive.

Had it in my pocket when I had to see the HR woman at work & later tried to listen to our conversation but it was very fuzzy, I couldn’t make anything out about what was said. I’ve used it out in the open & it works well enough. Everything else works well & I’m glad I bought it. I’m just disappointed that it didn’t pick up the conversation while it was in my pocket.
