A bit too soon to say. Test recording sounds good and plenty of volume available through the speaker. It comes with half a dozen sets of instructions, each one written in 4 different languages (so, 24 languages). The English instructions are for the basics: you need to connect it to the computer to access the files for more complicated functions and troubleshooting: cue myriad folders and files and all of them looking so very anonymous, so I'll have to wade through them to find out what MENU and FOLDER do. Gizmos never just work do they? There's always a problem.Batteries were included.UPDATE: I used this to record my voice and on a separate occasion two others reading a script.

Ah well! If you slip and fall on it I suppose it will break! Then again, I had done this a few times before, so it is very sturdy.I bought it 3 years ago and have used it on most days since. I dictate a lot and, it seems, I occasionally fall on it when trying to negotiate light wells to access electricity and gas meters, or drop it from heights (when I think I have the lanyard round my wrist and ooops... I really didn't) .So, I have forgiven it for breaking (after the last fall on to a tiled floor) and have simply ordered a replacement.Easy to use, battery life is OK, actually has a usb cable (why would a dictaphone NOT have one?) and is loud and clear enough for my typing lady to hear nigh on everything I say,

Great voice recorder that basically does most of the jobs you'll need a recorder to complete. This is just the recorder so I have purchased the additional voice mic and extended lead mic. My previous recorder tended to switch itself on without my knowledge and then use all the battery but this model hasn't had the same problems. I use a voice recorder to record ideas and thoughts whilst out walking, reading or praying so it meets all my needs. I've also purchased one of these for my daughter who is s student and needed a voice recorder for lectures and she is also pleased with the item. Great basic recorder for a reasonable price.

This is a very good voice recorder that is easy to operate. If the recording sounds a little fuzzy (for example, this happened when I recorded a phone interview on loudspeaker with someone in Germany), I'm told that you can download it on to a Mac and you'll be able to hear it clearly. It wasn't that clear on my Chromebook but my chromebook is pretty rubbish. Should be fine on Apple or Windows though. At £40 I didn't think it was cheap or expensive, but it's a decent device that does what it's supposed to.

aT FIRST i BOUGHT THOSE CHEAPER ONES THAT LOOK GREAT BUT WHEN THEY COME..THEY ARE SO TINY..U CANNOT READ HOW TO USE THEM..AND THEY ALL ENDED UP IN THE BIN...This model is the exact opposite.Great size..and so simple to use a child could operate it effectively..Cannot rate it highly enough.....If you are looking for an easy to use reliable voice recorder then LOOK NO FURTHER AND BUY WITH CONFIDENCE

The internal mic is disabled when an external mic is connected. I am seeking to record mp3 files to put on a church website. The first 2 weeks the levels from the mixer were too high= distortion. yet this was pleasing since too much signal can be worked on. Overall works better than expected.

Bought this to replace my last Sony that I had for five years. Are use this item every day within my work as a trainer and find that this Sony DVR is of good quality would definitely buy again

I have not used it a lot, it is well built for the price. The side controls are a bit fiddly and not intuitive enough for ease of use. The sound quality is good for the size of the speaker

Not amazing, decent enough. Simple controls. The beeping when going through settings / pressing play is annoying. Doesn’t pick up distance sound very well

Amazing file size/audio quality ratio! Portable, and still a truly analogic and practical way to get notes saved instantly.

It takes time to set up date and time on every occasion you wish to use it.So cannot be used instantaneously,

Haven't really used it yet but it was very easy to set up and looks and feels great for the price!

I didn't notice that the device is not chargeable, I have to buy new batteries every week
