Last week I went to a local branch of a national electronics chain, to find something to allow me to record both sides of phone calls, and was advised to buy two separate gadgets by their adviser, who assured me these would allow me to record calls on my cordless landline (one was the small 'retel' box type device, which plugs directly into the phone line; the other was an amplifying device, a basic suction cup, to stick directly onto the phone - total cost of £28).Having spent 2 days testing them over and over again, only to discover that neither worked, at all. The caller's voice was completely inaudible when recording were played back, so I returned them for a refund.Their tech guy said the gadgets they'd sold me "work perfectly well for other customers" (!!), and when I offered to replay him my recordings, to prove the caller's voice was completely inaudible, he declined, then told me the fault was "not the gadgets", but the fact I had a "BT Cordless phone" (!), even though, as I pointed out to him, one of the gadgets was clearly labelled as being "suitable for all cordless phones".Anyway, that's why I ended up on here searching for something for easy and clear recording of both sides of 'phone calls.I opted for this gadget, partly due to the reasonable price, and also having already had to return one of the retel box type recorders, as already explained. I'm glad I did, as this little gadget has proved to be an excellent and affordable solution (I use it with a Sony PX333 Voice Recorder. It's so easy to use, and is great as I can also record calls to my mobile just as easily as to the landline, and it is portable (can take it out with me to use with mobile if necessary). The caller's voice is (so far!) recording perfectly and clearly.I did initially hesitate before buying this, as thought maybe wearing the earpiece when using the phone might be a bit cumbersome or uncomfortable, but it's not at all - having the earpiece in my ear is no problem, even on lengthy calls (there are three different sized adaptors included).Forget the more expensive gadgets, this little gadget is simply brilliant... and affordable too.

* PhysicalThis microphone allows clearer recordings through telephones to be made. This is when a microphone connected to a digital voice recorder that gives power to the mic such as Olympus own brands for example. This TP-8 is a otherwise identical to the previous TP-7 Microphone. This microphone allows good quality telephony recordings to be made with it. This microphone sits in your ear and when you turn the device on, you can talk to the other caller and both your voice and the other caller voice can be clearly heard. It works both with landlines and mobiles no problems.* TipsThis microphone has a 3.5 mm jack on a meter long cable designed to be inserted into the 'MIC'port on your recorder and the microphone end in your ear. I would like to add if you can, please choose between 'voice' and 'music', and go for 'voice'. This means you can alter the quality of your voice telephone recordings .Also consider the 'Menu' selection of your digital recorder and choose its 'Rec Mode.' This means you experiment and select one that has enough recording quality for your needs. I recommend you try them out in turn and select one that's right for you, but (i.m.h.o) 'HQ' (Hi Quality) is great for this type of recording. And Microphone sense 'Mic Sense' to 'Dic' (dictaphone) can help too.Just a thought, if you have not used your digital recorder for a while, and its battery has run down and it seems dead even after fitting a new battery, try connecting the recorder to a USB port on your computer and it may come back to life again. This repair worked for me!* SummaryThis microphone works well, gives user variable quality to recordings; the bigger the files, the better the recording quality. The price of this is great and is cheaper than the TP-7 it replaces.

I brought this primarily to record conferences calls and then do the notes catch up after. I tested it tonight with my Sony ICD-SX712 recorder while using the mobile. Good clear recording. My recorder has multiple scene settings so can be configured for greater mic sensitivity for meetings than for taking voice notes. On the meeting setting with the pickup, I could pick up the voices of my children playing downstairs while I was in my office upstairs. With the almost common place wearing of head phones for mp3 players around the office. I am considering trying the pickup mic in a meeting instead of leaving a recorder on the table.I expect this will be a little less conspicuous albeit I may take some glares for having an ear bud in place.Certainly can't faulty the sensitivity and fidelity. the packaging indicates a frequency range of 50hz to 16khz. I think that phones have an upper limit of 14khz. You shouldn't expect to pickup higher registers with this little gem given it is designed for the phone.

This works really well. When I first tried to use it I had no joy -the earpiece/mic was plugged in to my recorder (Roland R05) in the mic jack, and sitting in my ear with the phone against it, taking a call. Nothing was recorded! I thought I might have to buy another compatible recorder after reading some of the more negative reviews, but the solution is a simple one. You need to make sure your digital recorder is set to PLUG-IN POWER (I found this under 'input settings' on my device). This setting allows power to the microphone, which enables it to work. Don't give up on this handy little mic before trying it. Really am very pleased with the quality and ease of use.The earplug that sits in your ear doesn't block out any noise as you make your phone call -it doesn't get in the way at all and is very discreet. Worth the £12. It's simple and effective.

My Moto G LTE phone needs to be modified to record calls thus voiding it's warranty. On finding this microphone I saw it recorded in very high quality (both sides of the conversation) on any mobile phone without voiding the warranty. It's more complicated than an automatic app as you have to be ready with a separate recorder and the earpiece but all things considered it is a great solution. I tested it today and the quality is exceptional. I highly recommend it and no radio interference noise found on earlier alternatives. Buy it you won't be disappointed. No need to be distracted when speaking to my customers I can listen and give them my full attention and take notes from the recording later.Thank you Olympus.

Brilliant piece of kit. Works with mobiles and landlines - but not necessary of you have an Android..What else can I say? If you have an Iphone or Windows phone and you want to record both sides of the call, you will have to use one of these gadgets. If you have an Android and then you can simply use one of several free apps to do the same thing much more easily. You can also use this gadget with a landline - and wiht a separate recorder whcih you can buy very cheaply on Amazon. You should always record your calls when dealing with any company. You don't need to give warnings if your recording is for your own use. Record your calls. You will never regret it - ever.

I use this with an olympus recorder, and it works great just place the plug in the mic port at the top and the very comphy ear piece in your ear ,it comes with a smaller ear piece and spare one also .press record on the device then phone the number or just answer the call and thats all there is too it ,great clear both way recording highly recommend this as you can always quote anybody your talking to after the call ,fantastic for records, this only works when its been pluged into a recorder not a phone so you will need one i recommend an olympus one a cheap one from here or argos for 20 quid will more then do the job

I like this, it fits in your ear and you put the phone to the same ear, it has a through and through mike so it plays the call into your ear and at the same time down the wire to whatever recording device it is plugged into (I'm told they even work with PC's though I haven't tried it yet. I'm not sure how it picks up your side of the conversation but it does. Only drawback is if you move the phone around you get that plastic on plastic clunking in your recording when it hits the mike/speaker. Apart from that it's as good as you would expect, perhaps overpriced though.

Not going to deny, the price nearly put me off as it seems a lot for a basic earpiece. Having tried it out with the coredy vm3311 I can say that it works extremely well and gives a clear recording of the conversation. I have no idea why it was sent recorded as it would have fitted through the letterbox with ease, maybe there have been issues with non receipt in the past, so had to pay a trip to the sorting office to collect which seemed a bit over the top.

I have just recommended this to another user on amazon, to go with her Sony Digital voice recorder ; as it reminded me that over the last few months, this thing has been of profound value - and in near constant use. I can comfortably leave this device in my ear - and clearly record both sides calls coming in on mobile and /or landline phones , without further fuss . It has . for me, become the extension of my Sony ICD-PX333.

Does exactly what it is designed for and has already proved me right over what was stated in a phone call when the company insisted that their operator said otherwise. When I get a phone call where the caller immediately says " This call is being recorded " , it's good to be able to inform them that I too am recording the call. Would recommend this item used of course with a suitable recoding device.

The purchase process itself was very simple and there is plenty of information available on this site and others regarding this product. I did choose to purchase these headphones with another Olympus product to avoid any form of compatibility risks, so I am only in a position to say that it works incredibly well with a landline, a mobile phone and an Olympus WS-831 Digital Stereo Voice Recorder.

13.7.2018

Bought this after failing to record successfully from my speaker phone. Tried it with the recorded app on my phone, and it was useless. Picked up the clock on the other side of the room, but not the voice on the other end of the phone. I then bought an Olympus voice recorder, and it works brilliantly. So, it's very good, BUT you have to have an Olympus recorder for it to work properly.

16.12.2013

Does just what it says on the tin with clarity and not too much fiddling about. Has to be kept on the recorder to be useful for recording unexpected telephone conversations but the supplied buds suit my ear fine so set up is rapid. Good long cable means it can kept usefully out of the way while using a keyboard or writing while you talk. Great product.

Can connect to laptop and record via recording software Audiocity or similar - the sound is very high and clear. Stick ear piece in telephone ear and it just picks up everything you say on the phone and the caller's voice and records it all crystal clear on the the laptop. Then burn it as mp3 on the disc - job done. Very good product.
