I love these socks and am giving them a full 5 stars even though they are not perfect.Firstly, I have several pairs of Smartwool womens socks (Crew and ankle) that fit my feet very snuggly; I love that Smartwool make socks geared specifically to women's feet as I have narrow feet.I bought these really to wear at home and they are absolutely great for that. They would be too thick for any of my shoes. What I do find is that they do wrinkle around the ankle and there is too much sock around the heel. It is probably that hiking socks are meant to be a bit more roomy than ordinary socks, but they do tend to roll around on my foot. Unlike my other SmartWool socks, there only appears to be minimum elastication,

Great socks, they don't matt under your toes when your feet are hot and sweaty, and are comfortable for long hikes (did 23 miles in a day, did change the socks over just because that's sensible). Bought the small, am a size 5, so just at the lower end of what they recommend for medium. Definitely not too small for a size 5 foot, and would have been really irritated with a size up - recommend actually getting a tape measure and measuring the length of your foot as that's a bit more accurate for the sizing. Quite padded and warm - these are the medium crew, and doubt that I would really need the heavy crew in hiking boots. Did get a blister across the back of the heel but suspect that was partly to do with not tying my boots up well.

I bought these socks before a summer of hiking, including the Inca trail in Peru and Mt. Kilimanjaro. The hikes included both hot and cold conditions and so I didn’t want really thick socks (or overly thin ones!). These were a good compromise and probably the thickness I used the most (I did also have thinner and thicker ones for more extreme weather days). They kept my feet dry due to the moisture wicking quality and were very comfortable. I’d recommend for hiking in non-extreme weather conditions

These socks look excellent and the missus (who isn't the outdoor type) seems to like them too. I think I will invest in a pair myself. I mostly wanted to write the review to highlight that the size 20-27 cm is actually large. They had them on here very cheap but I had to mess about sending a request to the warehouse to go check on the actual size (given that 20-27 cm actually encompasses small, medium and large).

These are the best socks I have ever put on my aching cold feet....instantly cosy and absolutely nothing to hurt, rub or cut into [toe seam] ones toes ....recommend them 100%.Thanks to other reviewers I went for these amongst several other brands so would just like to urge all of you out there who suffer from cold toes and have to walk about in mud or snow....look no further than these marvellous socks.

Best socks in the world. I have many of smart wool's products. Excellent quality and comfort as always.I wear these yacht racing and when you have to pack light and re-wear things, these NEVER smell, if if I have to wear them for 3/4 days.Of course - I wash them regularly normally and wear these for everything: walking, everyday use, keeping warm at home, etc

After being recommend these socks by a friend, I honestly can say I'd never wear another brand of walking socks again! These fit well, are warm snd wick away moisture perfectly, but they are not too thick. Not 100% sure about the longevity of the socks, as they're starting to bobble at the back, however for the sheer comfort, they're worth it.

I adore these socks, as the wool feels so soft and springy, and they really do a good job of keeping feet warm and comfortable. I have a circulation problem, so wear them most months of the year. They fit my small feet perfectly, which is unusual, as I usually end up with the heel halfway up the back of my ankle!

Love these socks. They are my go to for walking and bed socks.For walking they are excellent (I use cotton socks inside and have never had a blister).They’re also great for winter evenings. I have terrible circulation and these keep my feet toasty warm and stave off the chill blaines.Worth every penny.

Socks are the 2nd most important bit of kit (after your boots). After trying a number of different brands over the years, these are the only ones I wear now and I own several pairs. I recently walked the West Highland Way, 20 miles a day, and not one blister.They're not cheap but worth every penny.

I use these as everyday socks under my normal boots in the winter, and they are nice to wear around the house instead of slippers. They keep my feet warmer than normal socks, they are not sweaty and they are really comfortable. They wash well too - I just bung them in a normal 40 degree C wash.

I needed some new hiking socks and as we couldn’t get to the shops I found these and the reviews were good. I have been very happy with my purchase, they are certainly getting a lot of use now as we go out daily for exercise. They are very comfortable and soft, all I could have wanted.

These are great! They really do prevent blisters and help add some extra cushioning when walking long distances. I bought these for El camino de Santiago and I'm really glad I did. My feet never got wet when wearing these despite the constant rain.

This is my second pair of Smartwool hiking socks. I liked the first pair so well that I wanted a spare pair. They're a bit heavy for hot weather hiking but great for moderate to cold temperatures. They fit well. No slippage. No blisters.

These socks are perfect for winter walking – very comfy. The supplier provided no information about what the sizes mean, so I had to return the small and order medium for a size 6 1/2, which they exchanged quickly without a problem.
