Background: I don't usually write reviews, only when a product really stands out to me. I'm a Geography student and as such I tend to find myself stood in cold rivers, mud and generally unpleasent wet settings. Like many other people, I detest having cold wet feet, and often find that my mood significantly alters when the inevitable happens to a Geographer in the field, so I set out to find something to prevent this. I found these SealSkinz socks. It's also worth mentioning that I wear these socks in conjuction with waterproof skiing trousers which seal around my ankles and allow me to wade in water well above my knees. This combination essentially creates comfortable and effective waders for a fraction of the cost of proper ones.At over £25,these socks took a significant amount of research and consideration before I made the purchase, but I can honestly say that these socks are the best use of £25 I could ever imagine. I bought them a few days before some field work involving a river. They arrived and I immediately put them over my hand and ran them under a tap. No leaks. I then filled the sink and immersed them. No leaks. I then put a jar of pasta sause in each sock and left them in the sink overnight and was delighted to discover that they were completely dry inside. The field work came and went and for the first time ever I enjoyed the day fully with my warm, dry feet. Warm being quite an important word. I have used these socks on tens of field work expeditions all over the UK and Europe, all year round in rivers, mud and snow and my feet have always been warm. I tend to wear normal socks as well, just out of habit more than anything, but these socks do keep your feet snug even in the coldest of temperatures. The socks are also very comfortable when completely submerged- its strange as you don't really feel the water sloshing about in your shoe at all. It all feels sort of, well, normal; which is great.I had my reservations about their longevity and robustness after the first couple of uses, but so far so good. They've been through the wash a few dozen times and their seal is still watertight. I guess I'll have another few years of trouble-free usage from these yet! Another good thing about these is that if you're out camping and have no means of drying clothes, the outside of the socks seem to dry really quickly so they can be put in your bag or worn in dry shoes without making them miserable too. After seeing my persistent use of these socks, many of my coursemates and lecture staff have gone on to buy their own. I would recommend to anybody for any purpose.

I have had a pair of sealskinz gloves for a while now, and they have always kept my hands dry and warm(ish).Although not any good for tasks which require any dexterity eg. photography.I was initially a bit sceptical about whether the socks would be waterproof and survive.Pleasantly surprised to say that they are indeed waterproof and fairly warm too.The socks feel a bit strange when you first put them on - kinda crinkly - but after a couple of minutes that feeling goes.I am using them for mountain biking - you can forget shoes which claim to be waterproof for this as water just runs down your ankles and gets inside the shoe. So the idea of having a good shoe, but with waterproof socks is very appealing indeed.Having splashed through plenty of huge puddles, streams of all descriptions too, over the last weekend, I am definitely impressed.Comfortable and waterproof. Great combination. Well done SealSkinz.

I have a couple a pairs of these now, I use them for my cycle commute to work in all weathers and they are fantastic. No matter how wet the roads or how heavy the rain I get to work with dry feet, which is a godsend because I really hate it when my shoes and socks were wet through and my feet used to feel like blocks of ice. No longer a problem.May be obvious to some but the only thing you need to do is make sure water is not running down your leg because it will run into the sock and your back to cold wet feet. This used to happen to me when I used the shorter version of these socks even when I had over trousers on because they would ride up as I was going along allowing water to get to my leg, then I bought these longer ones and no further concerns.I would heartily recommend these even though they are expensive for socks, warm dry feet are worth it.

SealSkinz are brilliant, and these Mid Weight, Mid Length socks have not disappointed. I use them when I'm mountain biking and it's really wet and / or cold, they really help to keep my feet warm and dry. They are brilliant, and well worth the money. (I've got some SealSkinz gloves too, and I'm really happy with those too).I've had a pair of ankle length SealSkinz's for years and they are still in really good condition, but I do find that water tends to run down my leg and inside the ankle length ones when I'm mountain biking, and going through lots of deep puddles. But the mid length ones are perfect as they come much higher up the leg.

I've bought these socks to use as wadhu socks or khuffs and they are brilliant!!! 100% waterproof as I've submerged the socks in water with my hand inside it and my hands stayed 100% dry!!! Also I've shown the socks to my teacher and he said its acceptable to use as wadhu socks as doing massah on normal socks are not valid. I do recommend it, not only it keeps my feet dry but warm too!!! I'm a shoe size 9 but I've ordered XL and it's a good fit so that's something for you to think about when ordering. By the way, it's the same one that Azhar Academy is selling on their website only it's far cheaper here. Peace.

Like most of my golfing buddies, I am dismayed with winter golf boots that weep water after only one winter. The boots look perfect and we all treat the leather with oil, polish, dubbin or waterproofing spray, but they still end up leaking at some point, by the next winter. These socks allow me to wear the boots for a second winter so are great value. They are also warm.Anyone know a make of golf boot that is watertight for more than one winter?

I got these for LARP. I go away an entire weekend, constantly moving, constantly active and at times wading through mud, water, and wet. These turn any boot into a dream. I have two pairs that I cycle out when at LARP (which is overkill), they keep my feet dry all weekend and I no longer suffer from awful smelly feet. Highly recommended!

Used for our latest Scotland tour. Weather very poor but these socks are warm & completely dry. The only issue is the are thick and semi inflexible and not like a warm sock would be. Having said that they have to be this way to be completely dry. If you only use summer boots then these would be excellent through the wet winter.

Got a pair of these Sealskinz for rowing. Very easy to put on quite elastic acted but then are nice and tight. Keeps my feet nice and warm and most important dry! I've been warned though not to stand on any gravel as this can pierce the lining and then they're no better than ordinary socks. So am taking extra care.

These are really good. They work just as they say y. Defo worth the money. I recomend them. My trainers are always soaked and drenched in sloppy mud but feet were perfectly dry. Bought some for my dad for xmas as hes always winging that his feet getcold and wet when he comes riding with me :-)

I wish I discovered these sooner! Unlike most things that claim to be waterproof and breathable - they actually are! I wear these for mountain hiking inside boots, and for adventure racing inside trail runners. After my first adventure race (70km) I expected to be badly blistered - I had none.

They are the right length but a bit of a loose fit around the foot. Maybe I have skinny feet I don't know am not a foot expert. Bought them to wear with my motorbike boots as they are cheaper than new boots so just happy they keep my feet dry on my commute to work and back. Crayons.

Well made socks and excellent fit. If you have boots that leak, don't throw them away, these kiddies solve the problem... Specialist Socks Ltd have proved their worth should something go wrong.. They delt with the issue quickly and will certainly use them again..

I have used these instead of buying a new pair of motorbike boots which are leaking (they all do eventually). Cannot fault them, keeps feet warm and dry even in the wettest weather. Ordered these as a Christmas present as I think the ones I have are so great.

Got these for a friend, so can't say too much about them, but delivery was good and my friend says they're the most comfortable walking socks she's ever worn, but as yet hasn't been able to test the 'waterproof' part due to the great summer we've had!
