I wore these under some smartwool lightweight walking crew socks (also purchased on Amazon) when doing a 26.2, nine hour marathon walk recently. It was a really hot day, a lot of the tracks were very rough and stony, and we climbed some 2,000 ft. I had sorbothane double strike insoles in my boots. Our feet were fine at the end: not a blister in sight. Smartwool, made from merino wool, is brilliant and the double layer works really well without making the feet too hot: I rolled the top layer down over my boot, leaving the liner at full height: I didn't have any heat rash that I normally get on my lower legs when wearing thicker socks during long walks in these conditions..

I bought these sock liners in preparation for a trip to Finland, where an extra layer is really necessary for winter activities. They worked perfectly there, under a thicker pair of woollen socks. However, they are useful too for activities in the UK, particularly when trying to avoid blisters, such as when wearing in new boots. Wearing two socks per foot, whether two thin socks, or one thin one inside a thicker one, is a great way of reducing the risk of blisters. These ones have the added benefit of being warm too.Recommended as liners inside other socks. Just wish they were cheaper.

I’ve tried numerous other merino wool socks hoping to save a few bucks. I bet I tried 20 different brands available on Amazon. That effort was just a waste of time and money. $20+ for a pair of socks might seem like a lot but in the long run no other brand comes close to real Smart Wool. They last 10 times as long and are worth every penny. I’m done trying to find a comparable product. I donated all the other brands to Goodwill. Now my sock drawer has only Smart Wool and I can’t tell you how happy my feet are about that.

Bought three pairs and used them on the Camino Way. They were mostly great but the heel seam on just one sock irritated my foot so much I had to remove the inner sock and just use the excellent Smartwool outer sock. Even though it was a tiny raise on the seam when you're walking so far it seems like you've got a twig in there! Other than that, they were great. No blisters at all.On sizes, I'm usually a 45 / 11-11.5 shoe size but I found that the size below (L) fitted much better.

These are the best socks in the world. They are absolutely perfect, warm in the winter, cool in the summer, they are exceptionally comfortable. Since I started wearing smartwool hiker socks I haven't wanted to wear any other sock. They are now the only socks I will ever buy. If a pair of socks can change your life these will. Buy them, be kind to yourself, especially your feet!

This is now my at least my fifth pair of Smartwool socks. Both in everyday life and when hiking, you have a high utility value with good fit and strike for me, for example, the Falke socks significantly. Very good foot climate, especially in combination with Goretex shoes. Even after 3 days in the hiking shoe no major odor development detected.

It's what I've come to expect from Smartwool: high prices, but excellent socks. Having one pair around will be nice for when I really want my feet to be as happy as possible, but in general I'll probably go with a different brand. While excellent, the quality doesn't feel quite on par with the Smartwool socks I purchased ~8 years ago.

These are perfect liners inside my big thick wool socks. I used these hunting so I had a several mile hike in +/- 30deg F temps and my feet stayed warm. Not only are they warm but they wick my sweat out and my feet remained dry throughout the day. will buy more pairs for my SO and any family that needs warm winter socks.

Product received was not labelled as a liner sock and were thicker than expected (I'd describe them as slightly cushioned) however they did the job I bought them for - to wear under thick socks to provide extra thermal layer in Finland/winter. Didn't rub and felt good. Stayed fresh feeling after several days

These socks are made of fine wool and could be worn as a light weight sock or as a liner sock. Excellent quality. I am size 39 and this sock fits well when first put on but because there is plenty of stretch I think I would prefer the smaller size for a better long term snug fit.

These are the best light hiking socks I have ever owned. They have nice arch support and stay put on the foot without slipping. With a thin silk liner sock as a base layer, these are perfect for a blister-free hike. And they they stay dry and odor-free for many wearings.

My son requested these socks for Christmas, he is a keen mountaineer and skier, lives close to the mountains. He finds them comfortable and warm, he was so enthusiastic I've ordered some for myself. They come up large, we ordered a size smaller than normal.

Extremely comfortable, great thermal performance not too hot or too cold, thin enough to wear with barefoot shoes. I have bought six pairs over the last year (even at this high price) and only one sock has laddered and torn.

I love these socks. Not cheap but great in the winter when sometimes I wear wool songs over them or hot summer days on their own. They wash well in the machine and don't appear to shrink or wear out too frequently.

Arrived not really fast (10 days) Made in Italy product, very well done, to be tested in the field as purchased for trekking shoes and it seems a bit light. I will update the review as soon as we can still "walk".
