Having been born and brought up a few miles away from the Silent Pool and always having loved that particular part of the North Downs I was rather curious when I saw this gin on offer in a pub in Central London and was determined to get to try it. Well I’ve just returned from a weekend visiting family in and around Guildford and I made a point of visiting the distillery itself adjacent to the Silent Pool and came away with a bottle of this very special gin.For those who are not fortunate enough to know this very beautiful spot (OK I’m biased) in person the Silent Pool is at the foot of the North Downs and fed by a natural spring which filters down through the chalk of the downs resulting inthe pool being fed with exceptionally pure and clear water and this is what is used in the distillation of this Gin. To this exceptional water is added the very best of locally sourced ingredients which is distilled into something truly special. The gin itself is so very very smooth with none of the bitter edge that is associated with some of the mass produced gins to be found on the high street and as such can easily be drunk neat with ice but when mixed with ice, a slice and a good quality tonic produces the best gin and tonic that I have ever experienced. So it costs perhaps twice what a bottle of mass produced gin does but you really are getting what you pay for as it really is a premium product. Also as has been mentioned before the bottle itself is a work of art and the first time I have ever seen a spirits bottle with a glass stopper.

This is one of several reviews I will be doing of various gins.I have something of a gin habit and rather geekily score gins for both g&t and martini on a spreadsheet (I mix 1:5 with a twist of lemon, well I don't mix it myself thats what husbands are for ) . I score out of ten and I give my go to gin (Bombay London) a 5 out of 10 to act as a baseline to judge against. We score more than once so I get an idea of how they taste over different times and occasions. Please remember these scores are personal and what I like you might not.So on to Silent PoolG&T 6/10Martini 9/10 (for us this is a very high score)The bottle is very ornate and would make a lovely gift. The G and T is nice and refreshing. It is quite a sweet gin but also has hints of citrus. For the martini we paired it with Noilly Pratt and is very smooth, not at all harsh like some other gins.Whilst this gin isn't cheap it is absolutely amazing and we are onto our second bottle so it is definitely on our buy again list.Updated to say that this is still one of my all time favourite gins - well worth a try especially if you are lucky enough to spit it on a lightning deal.

Firstly the bottle is beautiful, nice pattern and tinge, feels lovely to hold too. Its the first sign that you have a quality product. To consume the Gin has a reassuringly nice Juniper aroma, fruity too. Its very smooth, botanicals work very well in harmony. I would recommend drinking with a non flavoured tonic such as standard Fever Tree and a slice of Lemon (Grapefruit also works well). essentially let the Gin do all the work...its that good.Would make a great gift for a Gin enthusiast, I notice the brand has gift sets which look great. Also worth checking out the distillery website too.Highly recommended

I was at the Silent Pool distillery this weekend (second visit) and this is an absolutely delicious gin and recommend the Fever-Tree tonic water with it - it's as close to perfection as you can get. They sell other gins at Silent Pool, including Admiral Collingwood Navy Strength gin, which is 100 proof. Legend has it the style of Navy Strength gin was born from the days in which the navy still used gunpowder. The gin was shipped at 57% ABV because if it happened to spill on the gunpowder at this strength, the powder would still light !! I can testify that it is strong, and thoroughly recommend it!

My favourite gin!I'm fortunate enough to live 20 mins from the distillery, so can try their small batch runs as and when. However; so much love and care is taken to produce this gin, with water taken from the real Silent Pool to produceEasy to drink straight, or with good quality tonic and orange peelWaitrose seem to be stocking them now so they're destined for bigger and better things. Good for them, however I've enjoyed having them as my secret for the past 18 months!!

What an amazing Gin. This is produced near to where I live and all my friends and neighbors have been speaking highly about this product. So I ordered a bottle. I am not at all disappointed. This is now my favourite gin. The bottle is amazing with it’s glass stopper. Every piece of attention has been given to this superb Gin to make it appealing in every way.Just need the glasses now.

I have tried a lot of gins, everything from the cheap ones to the expensive ones. This is one of my favorites to date. Its super smooth and not harsh even in the slightest. Its a bit floral but not so that its overpowering like for example the gin Bloom. Partner it with Fever Tree tonic and you are onto a winner, a drink that you can drink all night until the bottle is gone.

I (as well as a lot of people nowadays) absolutely LOVE gin. Silent Pool is by far the nicest one that I have found. It's kind of lavendery, is the only way I can describe it. Paired with either Fever Tree (or Tesco's own diet tonic), this is a drink sent from heaven. And the bottle looks absolutely gorgeous on the side in the kitchen. Please don't ever sell out!! :)

This will be my second bottle !! I have tried many Gins and this is best. Beautiful delicate flavour and to my surprise can be drunk with just a dash of spring water, although I do prefer Tonic. My advice also would be to add a good Tonic Water so not to mask the taste of the lovely Gin. Well done to The Silent Pool Distillery . Highly recommend.

I tried this gin on holiday and I must say it it’s a lovely gin tastes great with or without herbs or spices, very smooth and rounded and I’ve had it with star anise (which I wouldn’t normally try but it was lovely) just added it to my collection off now 22 gins and it is one of my favourites. Bought 2 silent pool glasses too which look fab.

This is a new favourite. It is ever so slightly ‘floral’ on the palette, but paired with skinny Double Dutch tonic and a slice of pink grapefruit is absolutely sublime. The reviewers that mention a synthetic taste are wrong. The bottle is lush, too - not that you should ever buy a gin based on the bottle! Well done Silent Pool Distillers.

A clean-tasting deceptively straightforward gin. No gimmicky tastes or unusual finishes, just a top-quality dry gin. It takes a lot of effort to get a taste this balanced and subtle. I like to serve it with elderflower tonic to bring out the floral notes, but it's a very enjoyable gin whatever you serve it with - even if it's just ice!

I bought this as a gift for someone. I don't personally know too much about Gin but I've been told this is great stuff. The bottle itself is beautiful and oozes quality. It also comes with it's own stopper which is a nice touch.I paid around £37 for it, which I feel is quite a lot but I've been told it's worth every penny!

Bought as a gift to my daughter.......her friends visited specially to try it - they had a wonderful evening and were delighted with this gin. Not the cheapest-but apparently worth it! (Im sad I cannot drink gin-as I would have LOVED to have tried this). Beautifully packaged as well. Makes a lovely gift for a gin lover!

Delicious. I have been working my way through different Gin. This is my favourite.it is smooth subtle and has wonderful herbs and floral overtones. The bottle is also beautiful. The bottle top is a tactile little object. This is one bottle that will not be recycled. Excellent , strongly recommend.
