First of all it does not come with any filter media or sponges or pipe work and I did not expect it to .It’s a pre filter so you only want to put various grades of sponges in course at the bottom medium to fine .I moved my sponges out of my main canister filter and put in 1 kg of bio home ultimate,so all I have in my main filter is 2kg of bio home ultimate no sponges.The sponges get sorted every month,or when I can see the sponges getting to dirty.I. Also have a eheim pre filter on my inlet pipe .The size pipe required are16 mm internal 22 mm external this is the main reason I went for this pre filter.Its the same size as my aqua one canister.A common size apparently 16/22.Before I assembled the pre filter I took notice of Vasili (

Handy and well priced,taps and canister seem to be made well with good quality plastic.The great feature of the top being sunken about an inch is well thought out because when the taps are turned off the little bit of water that always escapes when uncoupled doesn't spill all over the place,it just collects in the "bowl"Would definitely recommend.

I filled this with varying thicknesses of sponge and fine pad. Works very well as a pre- filter for my canister filter.
