Samurai Warriors 4 II has been called many things: an expansion, a remastering, even a reimagining, and in many ways it is all of these. Samurai Warriors 4 II may not seem like a massively different game to the original with initially the only noticeable differences being a new playable character, a rearranging of the original campaign, as well as the new Endless Castle mode but it's the subtle differences that you begin to notice after having played it after a couple of hours.Make no mistake, this is still very much Samurai Warriors 4 and much of the combat is still the same, but it is amazing to see how much Tecmo Koei have tenderly adjusted the original. Firstly, combat is smoother, enemy soldiers will no longer appear and disappear as they move too far back from the player's frontal cone of vision which means that when surrounded by hundreds of soldiers you can see every single one of them which is awesome to behold. The character skill tree has also been completely reworked with new 'epiphany' skills and other skills that can add benefits to health, defence and damage either through activated abilities in combat or passive skills that permanently boost a particular character's stats. The campaign has also been changed to reflect a character-driven storyline, each of the 13 scenarios are parallel to a different character's life in the Warring States period which means there is more depth in the background of each mission as characters will have new interactions and cutscenes (some historically accurate and some less so).Overall Samurai Warriors 4 II is not a revolutionary sequel to the series, but then it isn't supposed to be, it's simply a chance for the developers to show their dedication and to make fixes and adjustments to the original game that didn't quite work and to add some new and interesting features for the players, which as well the reduced price compared to the original, yet with just as much content is probably the best way for Tecmo Koei to end their 10th anniversary of the series.

If you've played any of the other games in the series then you know what you're in for. There is quite a bit of repetition in the game between levels, storylines and movesets, but to be honest this does not bother me much because I came to this game looking to take down 100s of enemies in seconds and that's exactly what it delivered. There are quite a few characters, and I had plenty of fun tinkering with each one to find which suited my play style best. The RPG element of upgrading weapons and skills is actually quite simple and engaging, which is good for new players also. I do really like that you can switch between a primary and secondary character during battle. This solves the issue of travelling across the battlefield multiple times as objectives can be far apart. The story is not too interesting and pretty basic, since that's not what most people come to this game for.Occasionally the camera can be hindering but it's not a big enough issue to hinder one's enjoyment of the game. The graphics are fairly good. Again this is not something that attracts me to a game but they are fit for purpose here and I had 100+ characters on screen and rarely noticed any framerate issues or glitches on my PS4 slim.Overall it's not exactly revolutionary in the Warriors franchise, but that's not such a bad thing; just look at DW9 and how they changed so much that it ruined the game. I love that I can just pick this up and wipe out 2000 soldiers with ease.

Arrived on time and undamaged.Appears to be genuine UK version. I always check because I have been sent EU versions of games in the past in the past. Getting a UK version is important to me as I specifically buy the physical versions of games so I can trade them in after I finish playing them (and the trade-in shops will generally only accept UK versions of games). Generally the digital versions are more expensive than the disc versions to start with, so I find buying the disc version works out about half the cost after trading in.I won't go into much detail about the game because if you're thinking of buying it and reading these reviews I'm guessing you have a pretty good idea and have read full game reviews.Suffice it to say its another good PS4 hack'n'slash hero vs army fighting game on the PS4 (in my opinion). It has a historical setting - the Sengoku period of Japan - in which you play many different characters through the stories of their clans. Lots of characters from previous Samurai Warriors games, new characters ..... and character customisation.

This a good follow on to the main game. The character models seem to be more detailed this time as do the environments. The move sets are slightly different as well so you may need to get used to that.As the game description states, the stories this time are more character focused but the background story will be the same as before.Additional features:You will be able to upgrade your characters in kind of an RPG way by purchasing skills and abilities from a grid.Missing features:There is no Chronicle mode this time so, although you can make your own character they can only be used in free and survival modes.Worth a note:Costume, weapon and mount DLC from previous game works in this game!!But!!Only if it is still installed! If you uninstalled the previous game all the DLC was also be uninstalled so you will need to re install that game again then install the DLC.

Samurai Warriors 4 II is not the best stand-alone game to get, if you're looking to get the best Samurai Warriors 4 experience, get the first game. This game has some alternative storylines, and a few great endless modes as well as fun character creation functions. If you loved Samurai Warriors 4, this is the game for you. If you want to try the Warriors experience, maybe go for Samurai Warriors 4 instead.

This seems like a really good game. Never played a Samurai Warriors before alway played Dynasty Warriors. The only thing that lets it down for me is everything is spoken in Japanese. I find it hard to play the and read what everyone's saying at the same time.

i never played much of any Warriors game. They are too repetitive. And yet, I somehow finished all missions on this one an had enough fun to not regret buying it.

If you like dynasty warriors you'll like this too! Plays great and quite addictive. Quite similar to dynasty warriors but has its own uniqueness.
