So I've had two REM723 shredders - both have failed in PRECISELY the same way in quite a short time frame and after very light home office use. Both got themselves into an endless loop of green light (shred) followed by red light (reverse) and repeat, ad nauseum, without any paper in the shredding slot (see video)I've checked all the obvious - top and bottom of shredder area for blockages - nothing there. Cleaned the sensor inside the feed slot - didn't help. Even tried to oil it using an oiling sheet - all to no avail!I bought the first unit on 24th Nov 2015 and it failed in Oct 2016 after very little use (perhaps 3 or 4 shredding sessions of 10 mins or so). So I contacted Rexel and they offered to repair it.I returned it and, much to my surprise, they sent me a brand new unit back!?! After enquiring, I was told that my original machine was "damaged in transit by the courier" - but I suspect the unit was not repairable anyway and, if I was being very cynical, might speculate that they are cheaper to replace than repair.......So the new / second unit was received Jan 2017 and has now failed in an identical way to the first - although this one lasted ALMOST 3 years (@ Dec 2019) before it packed up - which I guess is an improvement. BUT it was really well looked after - was oiled (using the oiling sheets) once every couple of months (i.e. typically whenever it was used - which gives you an idea of how little this shredder was actually used!!! - perhaps 10 times over this period).Clearly it's well outside of warranty now - so will be going to great shredder heaven in the sky - but am I happy about a product costing nearly £200 lasting a handful of uses and packing up in the way it has, what do you think? It's clear to me that either the Rexel Brand, and / or this particular model of shredder, is unreliable, not fit for purpose and really not worth the investment - it wasn't brilliant at shredding any more than a few sheets of paper at a time anyway.... not good for what is supposed to be an "heavy use" unit...Very disappointed... can only suggest you steer clear! I won't be buying a Rexel shredder in future - going to go cheap and cheerful - will be far less annoying if / when it packs up!Happy shredding!

Your would think buying a well know brand name would ensure that the product was of good quality and reliable. The 1st one I had packed up within a week and was promptly replaced by Amazon. Now six months later it has failed again, this is being used in a domestic situation shredding mail and address labels etc.Great when it works but.......

Not bad, chews things up pretty small, but no good if you have a lot of shredding to do as it overheats fairly quickly and you have to wait quite a while for it to cool off enough to become usable again. An internal fan that kicks in when it's heating up would have been handy. Expected better for the price paid (even on a deal)

Total junk. It was only given occasional light shredding with sporadic use over a 12 month period. The other day I turned it on and will only operate in reverse. Can't fix it. If you buy this shredder you are making a BIG mistake.
