Additional Internal measurements are included in this review.Having spent over £8-00 just last week on two card index boxes - one broke a hinge next day and the other both hinges yesterday something had to give.I needed somewhere to store and search through my Marion Nelson pattern cards. These cards were just under 6" wide but just over 4" high. The cards themselves fitted the index boxes but the slightly larger dividers I made broke the camels back and this is how the first hinge broke. I accidentally tapped the other with my foot, it fell over (it was on the floor already) and the lid swung open and both the hinges on that one snapped,I could see most of the lower price card index boxeswere going to be the same so decided to look for other storages.I have used these boxes before they are fabulous for in the garage or storeroom..Back to my cards. The Really Useful boxes that were wide enough for my cards were not tall enough so I decided that I might have to cut my cards to fit. I had a look and by careful checking each card I could see cut a little card off either end.I know they give internal measurements of these boxes but I needed more information so I risked buying 4 thinking they would always come in for something else if they did not suit my purpose this time. All four sides of the box actually slope inwards towards the base so the bottom of the box is narrow in both directions than at the top. Also there is headroom on the inside of the lid which might make a different to someone's problem.First of all the box base INTERNALLYThe handle end is 14.5cm wide at the bottom + 3mm wider at the top. thus 14.8cm. wide at the top.Luckily my cards had blank areas at one or other side so despite trimming I have not lost any information. The height internally of the base is 11.5cm but I stood a long thin card up in the box and kept trying the lid and trimming the card till the card stood inside with the lid fastened but fell loose when I tilted the box. 3cm. moreMy cards have 2cm clearance to the rim of the box more than enough room for dividers with tall tabs, plus there is the 3cm. inside the lid. I put the cut cards in the box and fastened the lid on and shook it and they all stayed in place - I knew from the measurements they would. So if you put something in the box that is 14.5cm high it will actually peep over the rim of the base but the lid will fit on and fasten just.Length of the box Internally - the length at the bottom of the box is 19.5cm. and at the top internally is 20,3cm.The box size is absolutely ideal for cds or dvds but if it had been 8 or 9mm wider. it would have been a grand card index box for 6" x 4" cards.Luckily my cards don't have information right to the edges and there was sufficient blank space to trim off.I am well pleased with these four boxes.I could have bought four in a set off ebay delivery free but wait 6 days. Or buy them in 2 sets of two low price and high delivery cost.Through Amazon 4 for £15-96 and as I have PRIME these particular items are free delivery AND they were delivered next day (today)by Amazon Logistics. Today is Sunday.

Takes 104 DVDs (or CDs) in individual paper or thin cardboard cases, along with a dozen label/index cards; can take slightly more but that number allows for room to move the contents slightly to read labels or move items in/out.Well-designed. It's study and hefts well. When closed it's dust-proof or as good as. Of the 12 boxes bought so far, only one has been less than perfect in that one of its handles pops out of its housing from time to time and needs to be put back. What's good is that the handles close in as flush as poss to the ends of the box to make the footprint as economical as poss. You can also invert the lid and stand the box in it to keep the lid nearby. The lid's deep enough that it can be used for shallow storage in its own right. I've just remembered I bought more than 12, and those store things in the attic - the capacity size is good for that kind of thing - and the boxes stack neatly. The boxes aren't transparent but aren't so opaque that you can't make out roughly what the contents are. Recommended.Read on only if interested in using the Really Useful Box to store DVDs or CDs. Since 2017 I've bought 12 of these boxes to store entertainment DVDs. As a result I've saved nearly 5 feet of shelf space, simply from getting rid of the DVD cases! Yes, the cost has been the price of the boxes and the work of transferring the discs, but the initial effort saved me loads of space and had the unexpected side benefit of the charity shop selling hundreds of empty DVD cases and using them to replace the cracked or chipped cases of donated DVDs/CDs. If you don't mind losing at least some of your DVD cases and info inserts, it's worth considering if, like me, space is far more important than cost. As indexing labels I use "50 CD DVD 140mm x 135mm CARDBOARD SLEEVES MAILERS PEEL & SEAL ENVELOPES 350GSM FOR POSTAL USE - FREE DELIVERY" Amazon ref. ASIN B009P0Q6BS, because it's stiff cardboard - apply the label or write onto the envelope flap just above the height of a DVD/CD so that it'll be visible in the Really Useful Box. I put a clear self-adhesive credit-card holder on the narrow end of a box to take a written box label e.g. to easily adjust a written index "A to D" to "A to C".

These are first rate storage; strong, well made and available in a diverse range of sizes for different uses. I have purchased them in a number of sizes to date, and just ordered some more:0.3 and 0.7L - small boxes which are ideal for in draw storage, or use in multiples for DIY storage (screws, washers etc).1.7L - a new size (as at Jun 13), which is great for larger in draw storage, first aid kits, small sewing kits etc.3L - designed for CDs in their cases. I bought these to store discs in paper wrappers which are unfortunately not a great fit, but CDs in cases fit perfectly in one direction, and DVDs in cases fit perfectly the other way.9L - These are ideal for pairs of mens shoes (which are stored upright but toe to heel),for A4 size magazines, papers or just some of life's 'bits 'n bobs' such as numerous chargers, spare AV cables etc etc. I think these are the most practical multi purpose size I have purchased.35L - great for book storage and 18 typical hardbook books fit in one box which makes for moderately heavy, but still manageable, storage. As at July 2013 Ryman are offering a 2 for £20 on their own site.64L - These are ideal for clothes storage; anything much heavier would probably be unmanageable if you filled the box. I did purchase these from the High Street though as there is currently (Jul 2013) a 2 for £20 offer at Staples. It is worth noting that some sizes come in 'standard' and 'extra strong' which are a couple of pounds more expensive each and are only available in white rather than clear. The standard ones seem plenty strong enough, but it might be worth considering the extra strong if you wanted to carry tools around in a work van for example. As mentioned above, it can be worth checking prices between suppliers on these, and some are often better than others or specialise, for example Ryman are great for the very small sizes. There is only one negative - because the boxes are straightsided they do not stack inside one another when empty, so they do take up more space than some other storage options when not in use.Thoroughly recommended.

These small robust 3 Litre boxes are ideal for storing all sorts of things from dvds to meds and I have previously bought 4 which I use for different storage purposes. They look good individually and also stack on top of each other nicely. The only downside is I currently wanted to purchase some more and noticed the price has jumped from the regular cost of £3.99 (non special offer or deal price) to £7.99. WHAT!! a 50% increase. No thanks. The thing is I don't know if other people have noticed this, but I have observed many items being sold on Amazon have increased in price over the last 12 months. Some items I ordered say a month ago are now three or four GBP more expensive.I don't know if this is a direct result of Brexit or the impact of covid, or just taking advantage of the fact that many people have been forced into buying on line more than ever. Whatever the reason for these unreasonable hikes, for now I am trying to avoid paying unjustified price increases of like 25% and 50% etc.Love the product but not impressed with the price hiking.

Tired of having CDs piled up all over the place, gathering dust, I was delighted to find this Really Useful Box. It stores up to 18 CDs (although if you have lots of the ones with posh cardboard packaging, you may note that these don't always fit). The box is made of plastic, so it keeps everything clean and tidy. As with all Really Useful Boxes, there are two handles that flip up to hold the lid in place. Having a groove in the lid, these boxes stack really well, so you can create a tower of your CDs over time!As well as being perfect CD storage, the box will also store up to 10 DVDs . In case you're looking for other potential used, dimensions are as follow:External: L 245mm x W 180mm x D 160mmInternal: L 190mm x W 143mm x D 120mmThe box itself weighs 500g.This review refers to 'Really Useful Box 3 Litre'.

Why aren't all boxes 'Really Useful' boxes as the manufacturers seem to have cracked the question of ease of access with security. These boxes, whichever size, are beautifully, functionally designed and exceptionally strong. The clear view plastic allows you to see the contents of each box, stack pleasingly and the 3L box (245x180x160mm) snugly stores 10 DVDs, aiding classification of your DVD library: 'Rom-Com', 'Horror', 'Comedy' and so on. BluRay discs tend to be a bit smaller & rattle around in the 3L box so Really Useful need to come up with an appropriately sized container. Amazon's 'add-on' pricing facility for these boxes is really useful too.

I have Olympus LS-11 and DS-50 digital recorders and a mass of microphones, earpieces, power supplies, remote controls etc., that used to fill a desk drawer. This holds everything other than full size headphones and microphones, which have their own storage already. The box is very well made and will provide dust free storage and protection for everything, as an added bonus you can see through the sides and instantly locate what you are looking for without having to empty it looking. As these boxes come in different sizes and shapes I am building up a collection to store my sketching kit and other similar loose items.

Doing the Marie Kondo thing in my house and I've been using these boxes and the lids to store pantry items (flour, jars, tins) by category. They are easy to pull out to see what's sitting in the cupboard and now creating a list before shopping or finding ingredients for a recipe is so much easier. Also forces me to use up things in the cupboard and not buy more stuff until I use up most of what I have. It also means the shelves don't get dirty/ sticky etc and when the boxes are nearly empty they are easy to wash with a bit of soap and warm water before I refill.

I needed a small box to keep some nik-naks in. I like quality, but I don't like paying too much. I got this box at a slightly reduced price on Amazon's Daily Deals. It's a sturdy little thing. Clearly a quality build. It's a nice size for the odd assortment of things I keep in it. It's rock-solid. I can't see me ever having to replace it. Good quality lockable hinges are the cherry on the cake. I've had so many boxes that eventually start to fall open because the locks are poor quality. This one shuts with a very satisfying click.

Strong and sturdy not so little box. I bought this as a mini first aid box and to tidy up all the loose packets of paracetamol, cold and flu, vitamins, Plaster’s etc. Cheap as chips and really sturdy. Has the added benefit of having a nice clip top to make it harder for kids to get their hands on the contents. Whilst it doesn’t fit in our kitchen drawer anymore, it’s stopped the drawer from becoming a mess.I can see these being useful for all sorts of things, inc screws and bits for the garage and even cake decorating stuff.

I needed something sturdy and stackable for DVD's. This was just the job. I spotted them in BandQ but they turned out to be dearer than these so I ordered on line. Same piece of kit. One thing to bear in mind is that because they are extremely sturdy they do take up quite a bit of room in themselves, but if you've got the room, they're perfect. DVD's, CD's or anything you want to put in relay - works brilliantly. AND, they come in various sizes as well. More than happy to recommend.

I got this box to store my dvds which I was running out of space to put them, so I got some little plastic sleeves. I have 48 dvds{series 1-8 of Will & Grace} in the box at the moment which takes up just under half the box with ample space to add more. It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be, and would store anything that would fit, e.g pens, crafts, make-up, photos to name a few. I'm thinking about getting another to store my photos in. Would recommend.

I use these boxes extensively - they are tough - functional and have an excellent range of sizes available - As I do not like being overcharged for storage items I searched extensively befor buying - this supplier charges the best price I could find by far with excellent sevice backed up by the Amazon guarantee. I would recommend that the supplier packages the boxes better as one item was damaged due to insufficient packaging - replacement supplied promptly.

Its a really useful, useful little box. Its so useful in fact that I made full use of it in a really useful way. I placed it in a really useful position inside my van so that i could fill it with useful bits that I often find useful when working. I have since found that my life is a bit more useful when using this really useful box because ultimately I have all my really useful things stored neatly in this really useful box, all in a relly useful place.
