Don't listen to any of the people on here saying these boxes are not strong and damage easy because quite frankly there not telling the truth. These boxes are fantastic as far as boxes go and there extremely strong. I have three 84 litre and one with one 64 litre size. I bought two 84 liters to store Xmas decorations in the attic and the other 84 and 64 to store the kids toys. I have 5 young kids who are all rough and ready and these boxes have held up and not broken once. They get bashed a rounded and hard solid toys thrown into them all the time and there strong enough to withstand it.There even strong enough for my 9 year old to bounce on the lid as kids do without any damage at allAll these reviews stating there weak and not strong is just simple not true. You would literally need to wack these boxes with a hammer to damage them. Over the years buying toy boxes and other boxes never have we had boxes as well made and as strong as these. They are expensive at £20 for the 84 liter but I guess you get what you pay forFrom now on if we ever need any more storage boxes. Really useful boxes will be the only ones we buyUPDATED 17/02/2019Its been a good few months now since having the boxes and there just as good as they was when we bought them. The two in the attic hardly will be used but I have checked to see if all the Xmas decorations are ok since the attic is a bit damp. There was no signs of any damp in boxes or on themThe other two boxes have been used thousands of times. The kids toys are kept in them and they really have been opened and closed thoundsnds of times and there still looking brand new. The latches show no signs of wear and they still lock the lid down tightly. These boxes are great and my kids give them a hard life. These are the only boxes they haven't broken. Also we was decorating the living and had no where to sit while waiting for new sofa to come. The one day my cousin came over to visit me to have a look gaming session. I had no where for him to sit and he's a big guy. He's over 20 stone. I gave him the 84 liter box for him to use as a seat and I honestly thought it would end up bending the lid some how. But after 6 hours or maybe even longer of his massive bottom sitting on it the box was completely fine and I was quite shocked. Even my cousin his self was shocked and said there worth the money. They really are brilliant and well worth the money.

I do like a good storage box, whether for food or other detritus around the home and I discovered Really Useful boxes around five years ago. They come in lots of different shapes and sizes and you need to be wary that you are comparing like for like as boxes can be the same capacity but a different shape. The boxes are incredibly strong overall and some of mine have survived being dropped onto the garage floor without being damaged (and also protecting the contents). In fact, my wooden garden table fell onto one of these boxes; the box survived without any damage whatsoever but my table was a different story... They are designed to be stackable and the lids clip onto the base via two handles, which hold it firmly in place.I have around 50 or 60 in total and they are mostly put to use in the loft and garage, storing things like bird seed, paperwork, tools, garden equipment, Christmas decorations and so on; there is even a Really Useful box designed to be the right size to store LP records (and I can vouch for the fact LPs fit in perfectly). As long as the boxes are the same dimensions on the base, each will stack very neatly onto the one below and the bottom of the higher box is held in place by the raised edge of the lid of the lower, so there is no chance of them accidentally falling over. As they are also clear, you can see what's in them as well, although for stacked boxes a label stuck on the front is very helpful. If you like being organised, I think you will like the Really Useful range of boxes. I have not regretted my purchases, even though I have owned them for several years and they are subjected to extremes of temperature, being mostly used in the attic and garage.

I just thought I'd add my own recommendation of these boxes - they're just great! They were a tad dusty on the outside when they arrived, which is nothing like a big deal, but spotlessly clean on the inside. A quick rinse to get rid of any oil residues which may have been left over from the manufacturing processes (just a precaution) and they were good to go. I needed them for purposes of breeding tropical fish (tetras) which lay photosensitive eggs, which is why I searched for opaque black (light-proof) containers. They're not filled to the brim, but even so I get the feeling that if I were to top them right up and they bowed at all, it would not be a huge issue. Being made of plastic, drilling them is dead easy so sorting the plumbing out was no drama at all. Because the lids are such a good fit, light penetration is negligible and the fish can jump out of the water all they like - they don't end up carpet-surfing.I would imagine they'd be seriously useful for loads of other jobs, too - I just thought I'd do this review for other fish-keeping geeks or people who need to move water around without it getting contaminated or whatever; these boxes are much more robust than glass tanks, light, sturdy, leak-proof, easily drilled for plumbing, totally inert and light proof.Perfect :o)

Recently moved house, and knowing that there was a ton of stuff in the garage and workshop to move I invested in several of these black Really Useful boxes of various sizes. All the boxes were consistently good in terms of manufacture. The clip handles consistently clipped with a very firm action. Despite being packed with circular saws, club hammers and the like, the boxes took the strain and never showed any sign of failure, even when stacked several high. A couple of additional factors swayed my purchase too.First of all, all the lids sealed over the lips of the boxes making accidental ingress of water less likely. And secondly, there were holes drilled into the lids and to the boxes which allowed us to seal them all with cable ties which made the boxes far more 'tamper-evident' (particularly given the expensive workshop items stored in them). One thing to bear in mind if you do order them is to consider ordering several smaller ones rather than a single big one, particularly if the contents are going to be weighty: a couple of tools per box is manageable, but having a lot of tools in a larger box makes for a difficult time!

Before purchasing this box I looked at some of the reviews and thought . . . why on earth would you want to review a box,? And at such length too!Well, as I've some time on my hands just now (before I go and fill my box), I thought I'd let you know how utterly amazing it is. It has four sides, yes four. It also has a lockable top and a reinforced bottom. And oh my! is it strong. My box arrived promptly, securely placed with another box, (cardboard) and there was no damage. I repeat no damage. In fact even if a lazy posty had slovenly thrown my box into the back of his van (as they're apt do) I believe it would still be fine. I believe even if the same posty were to sit on it whilst eating his lunch it would still hold up.So,all in all, I would highly recommend this item, great value for money with prompt service from the seller.I'm off now to find some things to place in my beautiful box - there is much more of a story surrounding my need for this item - but that's for another day. Some day soon I might even by another one!

We used these boxes originally when we moved rather than cardboard boxes or packing cases. The clear ones are great for seeing what's in the box. They stack well and at least 5 high that we have been to. Many of my kitchen items have been outside in these boxes for the last 2 years while we renovate and everything inside is still fine. Be careful of the weight when packing as they can get very heavy. Use the small versions for books (also still outside in the 35lt size and still in perfect condition). Originally we were going to sell the boxes on when we had unpacked but they have been so useful for storing everything in we needed to buy some more as we continue the renovations.I can recommend them for clothes and fabrics stored in the loft (find a sturdy bit of floor and pack them in the loft as they get heavy) - with the handles clipped I have not suffered from any damp or creepy crawlies. They are almost unbreakable and take quite a lot of man-handling but it's not recommended. Well worth the money in my opinion

After having had the task of clearing out several elderly relatives' homes of a lifetime's disorganised clutter, I decided my kids were never going to have to do the same thing for me. Accordingly, I had a massive sort out, and now my attic, shed and home are much more organised thanks in no small part to Really Useful boxes. Initially I bought a few, then some more, and now I am buying even more. Really Useful boxes are sturdy, stackable and have lids that click firmly closed. They are also clear, so the contents are visible or a label placed inside readable. It is therefore easy to see what any given box contains, or to locate something you are looking for.Really Useful boxes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes so you should be able to find the right one for your purpose, eg whether storing some keepsakes in your attic or some filing in your office space. I would not be without Really Useful boxes, and I hope my kids will thank me for my organisational efforts in years to come!

Purchased this box to store miscellaneous stuff up in the loft. The box is big! But that's what I wanted. The only issue I had was because it was so big, I wanted to fill it up to make the most of the storage space, which meant it was then too heavy to carry up into the loft! So it's now in the shed. I suppose it would depend on what you fill it with though. I only bought one of them as it's quite pricey for what it is, but I suspect I will be buying more when funds allow. Regarding the actual box, the space inside is good, there's no awkward side bits sticking out to ruin the rectangular shape, so items can stack well inside. The handles secure nicely and it appears the boxes will stack well if I purchase more. The box is very solid and sturdy. It's not quite air tight though, so as I've put mine in the shed I will be adding some silica gel packets to keep the moisture at bay.

These crates do not sit inside each other when empty, I feel it necessary to say that as even when empty they take up the full 84 litres of space. However, the blue handles click down over the lid to keep it firmly in place and there are supportive ridges along the edges of the box, further strengthening the already strong plastic. They are pretty much fully transparent (there is some translucence) but you can easily see what is inside in each box meaning you do not have to rifle through all of them to find what you are looking for. Best of all, they lock together when stacked to create a very sturdy tower. I have used Really Useful before and will definitely be using them again. Whilst affordable, they are not the cheapest storage box out there, but the build-quality means you are getting what you pay for. Recommended!

My title say's it all. This is a BIG box. My only concern is that it will be easy to overfill it weight wise? Both from a point of view of lifting and it's ability to cope with the contents. Since I discovered Really Useful Boxes there is little to compete. Cheaper flimsier boxes available at supermarkets and DIY stores aren't strong enough and professional removal type storage boxes whilst stronger tend not to come in such useful sizes and are designed more for transit than as a stackable storage facility.BTW Really Useful you've failed me here. I had to buy this size to stack some hi-fi equipment in because none of your smaller boxes have the required 435mm width that standard stackable Hi-Fi stuff was built to.For those under 30 Hi-Fi was what we listened to music on before it was dumbed down to MP3's ;-)

After looking around for similar products and reviews. I needed to improve storage around the house, so I decided to go for these. The quality of the plastic is very good and very light. The handles on it are bit robust compare to the generic plastic storage boxes you found on retail stores. There is no plastic odor coming out of the plastic. The packaging used for mailing was very robust and secure. There was no cracks or damage inflicted on the box. There were some minor scratches upon inspection. The order was processed and delivered very quickly within 3 days from my experience. Which worked really well for my convenience.I ordered 3 of the 84 Litres but will be ordering some more in the future.Overall, I am very pleased wth the products. :)

So my experience is largely positive. These are HUGE! I worked it out before ordering, with a tape measure, but even then I was surprised at the size. They are great for storage but there is a risk of overfilling them. On to my one complaint, they are stackable, but only one on top of the other. So, to clarify, when they are empty, you cannot stack them inside each other, they still take up as much space as when they are full. I assumed that stackable meant that empty ones would go inside each other - this is not the case. So unless you have a lot of space, then only buy as many as you need to fill! Just a minor gripe really. A great product overall.Would have been a five star review if they stacked when empty.

We bought these 10 years ago to store sports gear. We've rarely used that sports gear, while leaving the boxes in sheds and outside in UK and Australia for those 10 years, and they've protected the contents perfectly against rain, humidity, thunderstorms, and international removals. I've broken one once by dropping it from a height, otherwise they're almost bulletproof. Our descendants will probably discover them in our garage 50 years from now and find the contents perfectly preserved. They might not suit everyday use with continuous bashing around, but compared to the cheap stuff you find on ebay and elsewhere, these are worth investing in for buy-once, store-anywhere,last-forever reliable storage.

When it comes to storage, I have no complaints about this box. I've been living out of the country (the US and China) for most of the last 15yrs, and put most of my stuff in storage in boxes like this. They're hard wearing, the clasps lot the lid solid, and they're easily stacked for all those likes you need to organise your storage space. My one warning would be to be careful not to overfill the boxes, because at 84 Litres, they can hold a lot of stuff. I gave myself pretty severe back strain picking them up and moving into my new apartment, once I'd heard I was going to be staying in the UK permanently (though you can rightly say it's my own fault, as I should have known better really.

These storage boxes are simply incomparable with regard to ... everything really. You can see what's in them, the variety is endless, unlike other storage boxes they are practically straight from top to bottom and don't slant inwards like most boxes do, the lid uses up very little space when fitted, and the clamps keep everything secure inside the boxes. They are great to handle (depending on what you pack into them, I would not suggest packing the 84 litres one with books or paper not because they can't handle the weight, but because most people can't), and they are so versatile I have stopped buying anything else. You really can't go wrong with this amazing and unique storage system.
