I have been a competitive COD player for around 7 years now, going to LANs, competing online for money etc..I have owned several SCUF controllers in the past, and though they are great when they work, they are not only expensive, but extremely prone to breaking. Maybe I shouldn't expect them to last for ever when I'm using them for 5+ hours most days, but I do. I've been through 3 SCUFs each being repaired by the manufacturer at least once, and I decided to try something new.Having used Razer mice and keyboards, this seemed the logical buy - not a modified dualshock, but something engineered from the ground up. I got it in the Prime Day sale for £100, so I'm basing this review at least ion part on it being cheaper than a SCUF,but at full price I guess they'd be similar. My first impressions were fantastic. The controller is really solidly built, feels amazing at fit my hands perfectly. It's much closer to an Xbox controller than a PS4, and the dpad and left analog stick are flipped, which I like. The back paddles have a great click to them, and I love the extra buttons between R1/L1 and R2/L2.The problems started when I started playing. Firstly, it felt like I was writing with my left hand or something, everything was foreign and well.. I was rubbish. It's easy to overlook how much of you skill in videogames comes down to muscle memory. After 10+ years with a dualshock of some form, maybe it was stupid to think I could switch to a new controller shape and feel no difference. It took a good few hours just to feel even slightly normal again, and on top of that, I was accidentally pressing the added buttons. Every other gunfight I was swapping my weapon out, or reloading, or randomly jumping around as I pressed the paddle accidentally, or my hand brushed the little button. But it got better. After around a week of constant use, I felt more comfortable, and after a month it was like nothing had ever changed. I would advise you to persevere. You can disable the additional buttons, but I want to get used to actually using them. I'm still pressing square and triangle, but trying to teach myself to use the buttons, as they do offer a very slight benefit. The other big problem was the 'drift'. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but occasionally you would move the stick and half a second later, it would input the command. At first this was extremely frustrating, but after doing the firmware update (I found this by googling, they don't telly you anywhere you need to do it which is frustrating), all the problems went away.I use this controller exclusively wired, and haven't tried it out with bluetooth or PC yet. A lot of the reviews say this is where the problems are, so I would take that into consideration if you don't play wired.Overall I am really happy with the purchase. It took a good while to get used to, but stick with it and the results will show. I'm yet to mess around with the customisation, but it could be useful going forward. The main question I have is will it still be as good in 6 months, a year, after constant use? I hope so, it feels extremely well made, but I will update this review if it ever lets me down!

First of all, I'd like to say I tried a fully modified Scuf Controller first and was happy with it (till it broke) and upon replacing it with the Raiju Ultimate I realised just how poor the Scuf build was in relation. The Raiju's build quality is simply stunning, from the magnetically locating sticks and D-pad, under triggers and two extra front buttons to the side off the L1/2, R1/2 buttons which can be extremely useful additions and intuitive to press. Even the case it comes with is a nice touch with slots for the interchangeable sticks and alternate D-pad. The only thing they could have done to improve this would have been a hole through the front at the charging port to make it possible to charge the controller while in it's case, but hey, nothing's perfect. The triggers locks are spot on with a simple sliding switch to enable/disable the locks either mid play or on game changes without any fuss or messing around. Also for those of you who play Destiny, with the trigger locks turned on for instant aiming and/or firing at the slightest touch, the Sparrow still travels at full speed and breaks for corners unlike on the Scuf controller. The Raiju app makes tailoring the button layout incredibly easy and the different saveable layout profiles for different games is a great idea. As for the reported issues of lag, random veering etc that also had me concerned before purchasing, I have seen absolutely no evidence of this at all and have found the controller very responsive and accurate at all times and I've already spent hundreds of hours on Destiny 2 since I bought the controller. As per Razers instruction's I did update the Raiju firmware to version 1.05 immediately upon it's arrival as this was very important to eliminate any known issue's.Now for the BAD!!! I did say it was flawed in the title. I use the controller wireless unless on charge and half the time when I turn my PS4 Pro on using the Raiju it loses the connection and the controller turns off. It's a simple fix, I use my original sony controller to forget the Raiju from the list of bluetooth devices then put the Raiju into pairing mode and select the Raiju from the newly refreshed bluetooth list and it reconnects whilst turning off the sony one and from then is fine again for a few days of playing till it happens again. As you can imagine, it is incredibly frustrating to have to do this on what is pretty much one of, if not THE premiere PS4 controller out there with a price tag to match. I think when using a wired connection this doesn't happen but personally, I wanted a wireless controller because I don't want a cable between me and the PS4 having kids, pets and yes, a wife, who insists on passing in front of me every 5 minutes and then acts like tripping or almost ripping the controller from my hand or worse, the cable from the PS4 is somehow MY fault for having a cable across the floor.Overall, a beautifully built and ingenious controller that's easy to setup and change for different games, works great but can be infuriating to use via bluetooth, though I'm prepared to put up with that for the benefit's it brings. I'd definitely buy another one.

UPDATE: OK, I was going to send this back due to BT disconnection issues, found out what was causing it, DO NOT TURN ON YOUR PS4 PRO WITH THIS, I turn PS4 on first with normal controller and then switch to this one, BUT, you must use automatic log in, don't log in to PS4 with this controller or disconnection issues return. This is how it is with me, hope this helps someone. Oh, I get about 10 to 12 hours actual use with this controller not 16, still a vast improvement. Have had no stick drift problems as some do, fingers crossed. Rememner that you can only RE-ASSIGN buttons with this controller, you can't double assign or anything like that. I find i use this controller mostly now unless I require the light on the standard controller e.g.for PSVR, you CANNOT use this controller with PSVR.Its a great controller if it works as advertised. Feels lovely in the hand, extra buttons are great and its easy to reassign them via the downloadable app... the problem it this controller (in my case) keeps disconnecting from Bluetooth if you turn your PS4 on with it, when I try to reconnect I keep getting the allegedly rare "passkey might not be correct" error, so I have to get the PS4 to forget the device and then start the pairing all over again. This is a ridiculous situation with a controller that costs nearly £100. Bluetooth technology is extremely reliable these days so I'd be very surprised if that was at fault, its probably more to do with quality control or a Firmware problem and thats another issue Razer really needs to sort out. Their Firmware Update software has to be run in Compatibility Mode on Win 10 which is ludicrous plus there is no way to tell which firmware you are running ha!!! ... I'm in the process over the next couple of days trying to find a fix for the BT issue/error, if not then this device will be return as either faulty or not fit for purpose. C'mon Razer, sorts these problems out for an otherwise great controller, you do charge a premium price after all.

I bought this for an improved and better gaming experience for first person shooter games. With the standard Dual Shock 4's button layout and the number of buttons or lack of means that you have to take your right thumb off the control stick to press any of the 4 buttons. With the 4 extra assignable buttons on the Raiju means that your thumbs stay on the sticks so that you can perform complex moves such simultaneously jumping and turning whilst firing or reloading or changing weapons. This can grant you an edge in PVP aswell as PVE scenarios.Prior to purchasing I was aware of the drift issue that people have had with this controller which I have not experienced. This controller came with the latest 1.05 firmware update pre-installed which is good news although relatively easy to update. It has 4 pre-set configurations for different types of game play which are easily switchable by a specific button, these are customisable using the phone app if needed. The controller has a high quality feel to it the buttons have great feel, it has a more grip than a DS4 especially when gameplay gets hectic and your hands begin to sweat. It is bigger/bulkier and heavier than the DS4 and rightly so to have the functionality, once you get use to using the extra buttons and improvement in gameplay it becomes less noticeable.Very IMPORTANT note, to be able to use a headset the controller can't be used in wireless mode. You have to use the Supplied Micro USB cable and set the controller to USB mode. I have noticed that this is a custom made cable as a regular micro usb cable does not fit due to the recess for the plug and more importantly the offset position of the plug in comparison to a standard one.The feel of the controller is great, the functionality is excellent, importantly for me gameplay has improved. With the current price this is the best controller in terms of function and quality.Highly recommended.

So the Razer Raiju Ultimate is notorious for having a host of issues, countless customers have returned their unit and criticism is everywhere. However it seems that Razer has taken this on board with the latest 2019 Ultimate Razer Raiju and v1.05 firmware update. The stick drift and input delay issue has disappeared with the latest 2019 model due to different hardware, paired with the 1.05 firmware update the controller is flawless. When connected to the PS4 via Bluetooth and Wired the connection performance is fantastic and on par with the standard PlayStation 4 controller. Wiring the controller offers slightly better response times but I find that the Bluetooth response time is sufficient forgames like Rainbow Six Siege and other first person shooters. The controller hold an additional 4 configurable buttons, M1, M2, M3 and M4. Two of which are on the top and the other two as paddles on the back. The controller complies with tournament rules so you can only assign them to the main function buttons and cannot assign multiple buttons which is a pain but it is understandable. The R2 and L2 triggers also feature trigger stops which are very use to enable and disable for fast paced FPS gameplay. The D-Pad and other buttons also have a very satisfying clicky feel to them which feel excellent to use.The touchpad works fine and is surrounded by great RGB lighting which is customisable in the Razer Raiju app.Overall, it is an excellent all round controller if you have the money for it and it offers premium features such as additional buttons, high quality build, and trigger stops. One of the downsides is that you cannot use a mic when the controller is paired on Bluetooth and must be wired to the PS4 to transmit your mic, another is the lack of full configuration for the M buttons.

A very well built controller that feels absolutely and utterly brilliant to use and is a great alternative as opposed to the standard DualShock 4 controllers! To grip, the controller has a satisfying weight to it with an incredibly comfortable and ergonomic shape! The joysticks can be swapped out if your not too keen on the shape or them as can the D-Pad, which is great as I swapped it out to something I could easily slide my thumb across. The positioning of the buttons on the controller are fantastic, nothing too far out of reach and the extra buttons add a fair bit of functionality once you get used to them. The trigger locks are great for shooter games but you need to remember to take them off when on a racing game,I made this mistake and was rather confused when my car was going at a snails pace!Very satisfying response time both through Bluetooth connections to my PS4 and to my PC! Only drawback is that sometimes the PS4 can sometimes experience latency through the wired connection and can be a struggle to connect to sometimes. The battery life on the controller is rather good and when that battery life runs down, The cable your provided with is long enough to comfortably plug your remote in and continue gaming via the USB setting. The only things that are a small issue on it is that it doesn’t have the physical motion controls so playing games like until dawn that fully utilise the DualShock 4’s abilities may be a problem. It also doesn’t have a speaker inside the controller so some games are a little less immersive.Other than that, this is a brilliant controller and you won’t regret buying it!

Going to start straight off by warning anyone interested, headphones will NOT work with this controller if you're plugging it in via the 3.5mm jack unless the controllers wired USB mode is on.Anyways onto the actual functions of the controller, the back paddles which are "pro controllers" main selling point on top of their various customization are comfortable, solid and clicky as are all the buttons, the face buttons are mechanical as are the shoulder buttons (not L2 R2, these are pressure sensitive like the original PS4 controller for obvious reasons. With the most recent software update I am not experiencing any drifting issues with the analogues and have had a great time using this controller with no issue. The two provided d-pads do the job but are not suited for fighting games,if you have the cash I highly recommend either a Hori RAP V4 Kai, Qanbas Obsidian or the Razer Panthera EVO which are all amazing fight sticks.Battery life is on par maybe slightly longer lasting than the PS4 controller.Overall I've had 2 different SCUF controllers and on the Xbox side of things I have the Xbox elite (v1) controller and the Razer Raiju tops the lot, it's heavy, the buttons are responsive and pleasing to press and the build quality is 100%, the dedicated app for iOS and Android is barebones and not the most pleasing looking app but it's easy to use and hooking up your controller is a piece of cake.

Really great controller! There is some things to note with this controller if you weren't aware. There is no motion control, a couple of games still need this to progress through so it's more so a controller for mainline games that you play every day. I had a nacon controller as an alternative controller for this issue so I was fine but it was weird how Razer didn't add this.I play a game on PS4 called Warframe on a daily basis, having mapable buttons helps but at first you will find it difficult to not accidently press a button with the placement. With how many hours I play of these games I really can't stand using a DS4 because of how easy they break, you definitely pay for long term usage with this product after several months of intense usage I've had no major issues.Bluetooth is significantly worse than wired - it's usable for story games for sure but random lag happens if you are a bit further away from your system. I use wired mainly anyway unless I'm sitting away from my desk.Overall the cost is the major thing with this controller, I would say £80 and less is a perfect price for this controller mainly because it will definitely last longer than the DS4s so in the long term you wouldn't be buying several controllers. There is the nacon ultimate revolution controller I'd compare to this but this one is usually an easier purchase with them occurring in sales more often.

So for a long time I was looking for an alternative to the Sony dualshock 4, mostly for games such as Rainbow Six Siege and shooters in general, after owning this for a few weeks I can say that it is worth every penny!First of all the Build qualityThe controller on first impressions when opening the box was that it was built with a good quality in mind, the controller has a really nice weight, the buttons feel durable and the comfort is perfect, feels somewhat like a damm good Xbox One controller.Performance,I set the controller and mapped the M buttons to set up for Siege in particular using the Raiju app which is easy to use in itself, for the first few games I played I left the Hair Trighers off to see if it makes a difference and I can safely say it definitely does, the hair triggers reduce the trigger travel drastically and feels like it gives an edge in game, alongside your M buttons being set to suit the game you play and it makes for a really smooth experience. The Rest,The battery life is really good, I've charged it the whole of twice since purchase but lately I haven't been ganing loads so mileage will vary, the supplied charging cable is of good quality, ease of connecting to a pc is a bonus as well as the quick switch on the back, the mouse click feel of the extra M buttons feels great and over all a great controller!

I was very sceptical buying this, I've had multiple.controllers in the past, scuf controllers, nacon even a razer controller in the past. The last razer controller I had, had a drift problem, even when using beta software razer support sent me, it just wouldn't go away in the end they said its faulty and sent me a new one.Same thing happened with that too in the end I got a full refund.Foing into this, I really wanted this controller to work, the feel of the last razer raiju I had was amazing , it fit well in the hands, button replacement was excellent, everything about it was perfect other than the drift issue.I can confirm the version i gotz has 0 drift problem, looks like the issue has finally been fixed (atleast for me on 1.5 version) - this was pre Installed.4 additional buttons are placed nicely to fit the hand, you can adjust what each button does via an app on your iPhone/ android.Very simple to use and setup. Instructions in the box tell you everything you need to know. One big note though. You cant use a aux headset If you use bluetooth mode, plugging any headset into the controller only works on wired mode.

My opinion based on usage over two months on Call of Duty Modern Warfare.Good Points:Buttons are clicky and responsiveAnalogue sticks are smooth, the tops are grippy and are at a decent heightR2 and L2 shoulder buttons have mechanical switches to shorten the compression distanceUnderside triggers M3 and M4 are huge and easy to locate and pressGood weight to itFits well in hand (had to adjust my grip as it was uncomfortable for me originally when I used my index fingers for R1 and L1 however, I've switched to using them on R2 and L2 and it is comfortable to use (won't be an issue if you have long fingers.)Shoulder buttons are angled outwardsNot So Good points:If you have smaller hands then thisshouldn't be even worth consideringThe M1 and M2 triggers next to the regular shoulder buttons are accessible but you will need to slightly move your trigger fingers to press (not such a big issue in most cases)Adjusting some settings and trigger maps with the mobile device app after the first time is annoying as it struggles to locate the controllerGreat controller for PS4 users who like an asymmetric layout.

This is a pretty great controller. I was pretty iffy about getting one when I looked at reviews, but then I looked at reviews if similar modular pro controllers and they were all the same, so I just bit the bullet and grabbed one. Thank god I did.The controller is comfy to hold and feels really good in your hand. All of the buttons make the same *click* as a mouse would which feels like less pressure needs applied when your playing games. The back modular buttons are my favourite, if remapped them to L1 and R1 respectively, you would believe the difference it makes not having to lift your fingers up,instead is a little tap next to the triggers.I play the controller wired all the time so I cant comment on its wireless. The App can be frustrating at first but once you get the hang of it it's easierthan going into a pc to fiddle about with the controller like other modulers have you do.As the title suggests, I am now spoiled, I couldn't go back to a normal controller. I love this thing.

Had the controller for a few months now and have loved using it since day one.I was considering a Scuf but read a lot about how they are unreliable as they are mods of dualshock controllers instead of built bottom up like the Raiju. I'd even argue the controller feels a lot better than a dualshock despite being Xbox-esque. Many of the buttons have a satisfying "clicky" feel, similar to the click of a mouse. It's easy to plug and play within 10 mins of the package arriving as all you have to do is download the app on your phone to change the button mapping, whereas with a Scuf requires you to remap using a magnet on the back of the controller whilst pressing various buttons and paddles. It is also half the price of a Scuf. The only issues I've had:1) having to play with the controller constantly plugged in to get the best out of it, but this is the same for most controllers anyway.2) Thumbsticks are a little short, but I've been able to use grips to extend them.

First impressions: The build quality compared to the DS4 is in another league. It feels like a quality product and I immediately thought it was well worth the £75. The sticks are perfectly positioned, and the face buttons have a very satisfying mechanical click to them.I have slightly larger than average hands and this controller fits beautifully in them. When I pick up my old DS4 it feels cheap and poor quality in comparison. The battery is also much better. One feature I really like is that you can limit the range of movement of the triggers. It sounds simple but it makes a difference in shooting games and allows you to click the trigger and release a lot quicker.I’ve only been using it for a few days so I will wait until I’ve had it for a few months before commenting on the durability, but the early signs are very good.

My first PS4 controller that came with the PS4 pro lasted around a year and some change, then stick drift started creeping in, and it got so bad i had to go buy a new one.The new one i got from a high street store, full price of course, and within a week stick drift had not only crept in, but was as bad as the stick drift had got at the end on the old PS4 controller did.So insatead of giving PS4 controllers a third chance, i decided to just stump up for this controller and so far so good.I got it on 20th April 2020 and already lasted way longer than the second PS4 controller did.The only thing i noticed about this, is that sometimes it will become unresponsive, even though it's connected via cable all the time. It's easy to fix it by either wiggling the sitcks or cycling the plug.
