Designed as a home or office stapler, this is one with a trick of its own. Most staplers, when folding the staple legs, use an arc as a mould for each of its legs which takes up a little extra space than would a completely flat fold, were it possible. This model's trick is to make it possible with its 'flat clinch' and flattens the legs to take up a minimal space which may help if multiple stacks are to be bound together in some way. It also may be of benefit by holding the paper more tightly than otherwise is typical. If this feature is useful to a potential buyer, it may justify the purchase even though the model is priced somewhat higher than most basic models. The manufacturers also claim that it can accommodate 30 sheets of paper,a few more than other staplers would typically claim for the 26/6 gauge staples that it accepts (half-strip only!) if the standard 80gsm paper stock applied in this instance; flattening the legs may allow for those extra few sheets. Based on personal experience with many staplers, any more than 12-15 sheets requires application of considerable effort unless the stapler uses an 'energy enhancement' feature; its makers make no specific claim for this model.Although most staplers are designed to be used on a solid surface such as a desktop, some users often prefer to hand-hold especially for smaller stacks of paper, reverting to the desktop for larger ones where the extra power would be needed. This one appears to be intended primarily for in-hand use as it does not have any non-slip components on its base and is appropriately 'waisted' around the middle. However, this is slightly wider than others but is still very comfortable in the hand. Those with smaller hands may have a minor problem.Loading is very simple and simply requires that it be opened out to almost 180 degrees when the loading area becomes accessible. Closing the stapler completes the process and the machine is then ready for use.The stapler uses ABS for most of its mouldings, restricting its use of metal to those elements where it will enhance its function. A 5-year warranty is being offered as an extra assurance of its reliabilty and long life. There are no instructions as such, not that any is really needed, just some illustrations on its packaging and a brief description. It also comes with a starter pack of 1000 staples to get you started and most offices (and some homes) will probably have stocks as the gauge is extremely common and has been used for decades.

This is a chunky stapler, with rounded plastic (designed in Sweden, it says). It feels a lot sturdier than my other (basic Rapesco) stapler. It also has quite a complex mechanism: the base plate squashes down once the staple has passed through the paper, and this flattens the prongs of the staples so they lie quite flat along the back of the paper: there are no little "loops" like you get with most staplers. This lets stacks of stapled documents lie flatter. Its an interesting refinement to the stapling process: it certainly makes the staples look neat.It can staple securely - and fairly easily - through at least 29 sheets of paper, which is the most I've tried: there's a couple of millimetres of bent-over leg left,so the upper limit won't be much more than the 30 the manufacturer claims. The sort of staple recommended is 26/6 (26 is the thickness of the wire, with higher numbers being thinner, and 6 is the length of the leg that goes through the paper). I've also tried using the slightly thicker 24/6 staples, and they seem to work fine too. I have a huge box of Rapid "No.11" copper staples that I bought in 1983 at the Edinburgh University Student Union shop. Like the Magic Porridge Pot, these staples never seem to run out. I'm pleased to say that they also fit this Rapid stapler.Rapid offers a 5-year guarantee if you use only Rapid staples. I'm not quite sure how you'd claim on the guarantee if anything went wrong, but the quality of the build does seem very good indeed so it shouldn't be necessary. I've given the stapler quite a good workout stapling bundles of flowcharts, and there's nothing to indicate any propensity to sticking or jamming, so I'm hoping it will be my stapler for many years to come. Perhaps until those 30-year-old copper staples run out.

This Rapid F30 Flatcinch Stapler shouts quality the moment you open the box which includes a box of 1000 standard 26/6 6mm staples. The stapler/staples will staple at least 20 sheets together which is the recommended maximum although it can manage even more. There are no instructions as such but the key features are summarised on the box including the 5 year warranty. The stapler has good ergonomics - it's comfortable to hold or equally at home standing on the desk and its operation is very crisp. The staple plate is sprung (but not reversible like on some staplers) and the rim of the stapler where you instinctively grip it has a rubber coating - it's this kind of attention to detail which puts this stapler ahead.Filling it is also easy and the staple feeder block is finished in yellow so it shows through the runner when staples are running low.The unique point about this stapler is that it uses a Flatcinch method of stapling which means that where other staplers bow the staple outwards making it deeper this stapler produces a flat profile of staple. The advantage of this approavh is that stacks of papers are not as thick when stapled - this feature seems to work well in practice.I baptiised this stapler by using it to get a newsletter assembled and it worked really well, and without hiccup - no jams in a couple hundred consecutive operations plus because of the Flatcinch feature the pile was much more manageable. This Rapid F30 Stapler has already become a firm favorite because of its clever features and crisp operation - I love it. Recommended.

The humble stapler is one of those invisible pieces of office equipment that everyone uses and nobody ever remarks upon, unless it's to complain that it is not working correctly or has run out of staples. This flat-clinch stapler has a feature of folding the staple "legs" flat, rather than curving them round to pinch the tips against the paper. (In that the stapled documents are much the same as those coming out of a photocopier, rather than a traditional stapler.)I've been using this stapler at work for a month and people have borrowed it an used it happily without issue. Nobody has commented on the "flat clinch" stapling, mainly because I don't think anyone has noticed or cared much about it.I work in an office of engineers who enjoy neat gadgets but despite me pointing out the flat clinch stapling, nobody cared but they all came back to borrow it again.I actually think this flat clinch business is a better way of stapling, and the fact that nobody noticed the difference would indicate that this stapler does at least as good a job as a more traditional stapler with the added bonus of allowing stapled documents to lay flatter when stacked. The stapler itself is well made and has a pleasing heft to it. It's easy to fill without sproinging annoyingly at you (you'll know what I mean if you've filled a stapler) and is a pleasure to own and use. If it has a fault, it might be accused of being a little pricy, but it is a quality bit of kit. When someone nicks it, I'll most likely buy another the same. Recommended.

Staplers are one of those simple items that, like toasters, have the power to infuriate if they are not up to the job. There is no point in scrimping on a stapler, always get a quality one. I highly recommend Rexel as a make and hadn't heard of Rapid until now. I was very impressed and it is definitely a stationery brand I'll use in the future.Other than the inners, the stapler is of plastic construction, nicely ergonomic with a slightly bowed base to fit nice in the hand. It's symmetrical so can be used in either hand (I'm a leftie so worry about that stuff!). It comes supplied with 1000 26/6 staples which easily staple together 20 sheets. I tried 25 without an issue (although I would stick with 20 with these particular staples),I don't push to the 30 max.The Rapid F30 doesn't have the regular feature whereby you can turn the staple plate (my words, you know the bit you staple against) to fan out the staple. Personally I have NEVER used the function but if you need it then look elsewhere (and maybe tell me why you need it!). It has yellow plastic inside to indicate when the staple supplies are running low - I love that, and it is pretty standard but good to know you have it.The staples are flat (the so called flat cinch) and so apparently this makes the stack thinner. Personally I did notice but only as I was examining the paper, otherwise probably not.Overall for the price this is a great quality stapler which ticks all the boxes for me.Highly recommended.

My first impressions of the Rapid F30 Flat Clinch Stapler were good. It's satisfyingly chunky (but not too heavy), sits nicely in the hand, and staples with a nice-sounding clunk. It also comes with some staples, which is a bonus (although it uses standard size staples, which can be bought just about anywhere). However, this stapler has a unique selling point, in that the manufacturer claims that, when used, the staples lie flatter than is the case with other staples, so a pile of papers stapled using this stapler will lie flatter. Luckily, on the day that the stapler arrived in the post, I had a requirement to staple 50 identical sets of 3 sheets of paper.I decided to test the Rapid's claim by making 25 sets of papers using my old stapler, and 25 sets of papers using the Rapid. And, I have to say, the claim is correct; when the papers stapled by the old stapler and the papers stapled by the Rapid were stacked in two separate piles, with the staples all in the same corner, the pile of papers stapled by the Rapid was noticeably lower than the other one. What does this mean? Well, it means that this is a good stapler, does its job well, and looks and feels good. And, if you have a requirement to staple lots of sets of papers together and then put them in a pile, it's extra good, as the pile will be flatter, and have less risk of falling over due to the stapled corners forming a mountain. Five stars.

For most people a stapler is a stapler is a stapler. What makes this one stand out is that is that when it presses staples, they fold perfectly hroizontally rather than in an arc. This means that stapled documents will stack more neatly together, saving space and making them easier to carry. There is a slight downside to flat pressed staples, which is that it is easier for them to catch on you fingers and other objects. This does make them easier to remove however.I did not find the chunky curved body of the stapler the easiest to use. I suspect the shape is more to do with aesthetics than with functionality. To be fair my hands are size 10+, which is significantly larger than the norm and someone with small hands is perfectly happy with it.I do like that the base of the stapler is shaped so that it is easier to use when hand held. Also the force required to deliver a staple is less than most.I'm not giving any credit for the 5 year guarantee, because it ought to be a given that this kind of office product should last far longer than that even if it cost a quarter of the price. All of the previous staplers I have bought have lasted decades so far, without any loss of performance. One box of staples is included.OverallGood enough to be included in my stationary drawers, but seems very expensive for what it is.

The unique selling point of this stapler is that the staples sit flatter than those inserted into paper by a standard stapler, meaning that a pile of papers won't have an annoying corner that sticks up where the staples are. As a teacher who regularly has stacks of hand outs with just such annoying corners, I can see the virtue in the "flat clinch" idea and I can confirm that the staples are indeed flatter than normal. It is a relief though that this stapler takes standard 26/6 staple strips easily available anywhere. There's no point in having a fancy piece of kit if you need to search high and low for specialist bits and bobs. There is a box of 1000 staples included in the box to get you started, and then you should be able to find 26/6 staples in any stationery store worth its salt. There isn't much to say about the appearance of the stapler really. It's black and grey and looks ... well, like a stapler should. It has a nice and size to it although it is small enough to use holding in one hand if you want to. The manufacturer obviously has confidence in this product because they've given it a 5 year guarantee. That might be something to persuade you to spend a bit more on this quality item rather than going for a cheaper option.

This is a good looking stapler to sit on your desk, and fits nicely and smoothly in your hand. It doesn't lift and separate completely so you can insert paper as my old stapler does, or at least the one I was sent doesn't, so you have to fiddle and maneuver the paper in. I didn't try 30 sheets, a mere half dozen, but the staples do lie flatter than my old model. It is the standard size for a normal desk stapler, the base measuring 14cms or just under 6 inches. The heavy duty office staplers with longer bases and a great deal more leverage have always been used for stapling large numbers of sheets together, and I cannot honestly see that practice changing for most people unless they have an unusual job to do at home, but getting as many as 30 sheets in there without a jaw action that allows you to open it up wide seems a bit optimistic to me.For me this is a very attractive but normal desk stapler that punches the staples a little flatter than most, and an improvement on the usual models designed to staple a few sheets together, but not a replacement for heavy duty models with leverage and an opening mechanism used for big jobs.

This is a sturdy and well designed stapler, which fits comfortably in the hand or can be used on a desktop. It takes standard 6mm staples and loads in the usual way - just lift up the top and slot the staples in and it is ready to use. The claims which make this stapler a little different from most, is that it claims to flatclinch the staple - that is, the staple is flatter when used, so you don't end up with a pile of paper which has one corner incredibly raised. I work in education and find I am constantly printing and stapling together handouts, so anything which means I can pile up a larger amount of handouts before they all fall on the floor is helpful for me. Having given this a try,I found that the pile I was stapling did lie flatter and that I could easily photocopy 25 sheets at a time (I did also try the 30 claimed) without difficulty. Overall, this did make those slightly tedious, but necessary, jobs, a little easier. The piles of paper were neater and more easily stacked. This does have a 5 years guarantee, but with the proviso that you use Rapid staples, so just be aware that you need to order the same make.

Rapid F30 staplerThis is a home small office stapler. It is 14 cm long.Build quality.-----------------This unit is well made and easy to use. The moving parts are all metal and the top and bottom is high impact plastic. It will certainly get a lot of use in our home, two teachers, two students and my wife makes her own gift items and is always after the stapler !!!Loading.------------------------This stapler has a simple load system. Just lift the top part and drop the staples in. No more pulling springs back and watching the staples fly across the room !In use.---------As a home stapler it is great for the tasks we have. It certainly pushes the staple home well each time and we have experienced no jamming or halt in staples. One of its design features called the ‘flat clinch’ system stops the staple collapsing half way through a group oif pages. This seems to work and doing up to 20 pages at a time we had no problems.Overall.-----------Well it’s just a stapler but a very good one. Easy to use, robust and no jams so far. In my opinion worth the price if you do a lot of stapling.

I was really pleased to be offered this stapler for review, because we use staplers at work all day long, and yet another of them had just bitten the dust! This arrived at the perfect time!First impressions are that it's a very solid, sturdy, good-quality stapler and it certainly does the job well.It additionally claims that the staples clinch the paper in such a way that the metal lies flatter against the papers at the back than with other staplers. This is indeed the case. In my work situation , this is of no real benefit, but if you on the other hand were stapling documents that were then needing to be stacked in a pile, I agree that you would achieve a much flatter pile with this, and avoid the situation where one corner is raised in your pile and they all end up sliding off the table. My area of interest is in how long this stapler lasts. Most staplers under the intense use I subject them to, start playing up after about a month, so I shall be back in a month to edit this review! In the meantime, it certainly appears to be a good quality stapler and I so far, recommend it !

This humble hand-held stapler is an excellent product. It has a reassuring weight in one's hand and operates with a precise and unambiguous action. In my surgery we have a dozen laser printers turning out prescriptions all day long. Many days a vast pile of paper is produced which of course has to be kept together, checked, signed and then filed for the patient to pick up. This is made worse by the sheer number of tablets people are on these days! And the fact that many are on blister packs where tablets are pre-loaded by the chemist. The price that the NHS pays for this is that we are required to print them a week at a time and this quadruples our work load and of course the number of piecesof paper. My receptionists have a variety of hand-operated and electric office staples that are used to keep everything together and all fail in comparison with this wonderful device. In fact if the Amazon filter will allow it one receptionist describes it at ‘bl**dy brilliant’ and I suppose I cannot recommend it more highly than this. I suspect we will be buying more. Many thanks.

I found this Rapid F30 stapler to be very nicely designed. The smooth curved top section fits comfortably in my palm and my fingers rest naturally on the contoured underside, allowing me just the right amount of pressure to staple through thicker documents. The first think I picked up was a lengthy looking 35 page contract which was stapled with the greatest of ease. The packaging states that the Rapid F30 is suitable for up to 30 pages, but it’s clearly capable of being pushed a little. The Rapid F30 takes standard 26/6 staples and features what is described as Flat Clinch technology. Basically you know how when you staple a pile of documents, the corner with the staple in it piles up until the documents slide all over the place (or you turn half the documents round the other way). Well this stapler is designed to reduce that phenomena by 30%, and it does a pretty good job of it too. The only thing I didn’t like about this stapler is that you can’t lay it flat to staple a document or illustration onto a notice or display board, apart from that it’s great.

It’s a pleasing shape, comfortable to hold and use, and it staples things. I had no idea what a flat clinch was until I saw the picture on the box. The folded part of the staple (on the underside after stapling) is normally curved. With this stapler those two arms are flat (ish). The more pages you staple the flatter they get. This, apparently, causes the staples to take up less space and, therefore, allow stacks of stapled paper to take up less vertical room. I didn’t have enough used paper to test this out, nor did I have any consuming desire to do so. It’s a nice stapler, seems substantial enough to last, and, as I said at the beginning,it staples things. The one thing that I especially liked about it was that there was no fighting with the tension spring. As you lift the arm to refill it, the spring is pulled back for you. When the arm is folded back as far as it will go, you can let go and the spring is held out of the way for you. All you have to do is drop the staples in and close it up.
