I've always been a little sceptical about non-alcoholic versions of famous alcoholic drinks, be it beer, wine or anything else. They never seem to be able to match the flavour of the "real" version, even discounting the absence of an alcoholic kick. I do really enjoy trying all the different subtly flavoured gins that are around now, though, so I thought I'd give this non-alcoholic gin from South Africa a try.I tried sipping a little of it neat to start with, and although it was delicately flavoured and pleasantly aromatic it didn't really come over as gin per se, more an attractive herbal drink. But then I tried mixing a gin and tonic with ice and lemon the way I normally would, and something magical happened. It tasted just like a gin and tonic, and I barely noticed the lack of alcohol - except that I didn't have that light-headed feeling afterwards. I couldn't place the exact botanicals used, but I gather they include rose geranum, corainder and juniper as well as South African local ingredients rooibos and buchu flowers.I'd be happy to drink this in a cocktail any time I need to stay off the sauce, maybe because I'm going to be driving, or need 100% of my wits about me. It's light, pleasant, and blends well with tonic water and all the usual cocktail ingredients (try a slice of lemon and a sprig of fresh rosemary!)

Non alcoholic "spirits" are a bit behind beers and wine in terms of quality and range. I do enjoy a good g&t every now and again and have been looking for non-alcoholic alternatives for those instances where I don't want something alcoholic or am the designated driver. I've tried Seedlip Garden, Chastity and now Ceders Crisp. Of the 3, Ceders crisp is hands down the best. It is quite mild but is dry and has a mellow juniper taste as well as cucumber notes. Couldn't quite taste the chamomile, buchu and rooibos individually but you can make out that there is a good mix of botanicals. As its quite mild you need a fair bit of it in a glass with good tonic water but I did a blind taste teste of tonic water with and without and you can definitely taste the difference. It rounds off the tonic water and tastes very very close to a real G&T. By comparison Seedlip Garden tastes very "verte" a bit like your sipping your lawn and Chastity is a bit too sweet with hibiscus and rose notes. Both can make an excellent non-alcoholic cocktail or g&t alternative with a bit of added extras - sliced up starwberries, cucumber and a splash of lemon juice for instance, but Ceders crisp barely needs anything except the tonic. It is not the same as having alcoholic gin but its the best alternative I've found so far. 5 stars!

I've not been able to drink alcohol for a while and have been very bored by various cordials ... So it was wonderful to receive this Ceder's Classic Non Alcohol Spirit to review. It most definitely has aspirations towards gin with a lovely juniper and herbal flavour. I mixed this up with my favourite tonic and a slice of lime and it was perfect. The bottle was finished by the end of the week! I would comment that the bottle looks bigger than it is and it is actually only 50cl which is less than many standard Gin bottles. This makes it a tad pricey. But actually - the pleasure derived by having a long drink that feels like a good old fashioned G+T - is worth the extra ££.I have been photographing the bottle and sending it to various friends who have asked my advice regarding good, enjoyable non alcoholic adult drinks and their feedback has been equally good. It's lovely that those of us unable to drink alcohol and then those that are driving ... can now enjoy something that isn't all sickly sweet / aimed at children! Hoping the success of this brings out further additions to create a range. Cheers!

A couple of times a year I choose to go Alcohol Free - or just want a non alcohol drink with a bit of a zing. having disliked a well known other brand I had seen reviews of Ceders Alt Gins and saw a staggeringly good offer on Amazon on the range - so chose the Classic Crisd bottle in Sep 19 to try and bought a second bottle 3 weeks later. A lovely lets say Gordons style crisp London Dry Junipery Alt Gin. I drink with yellow Fever Tree Tonic and ice and it is a good product, refreshing tasty with a good Juniper flavour - this is the styler of crisp. so have just bought my 4th bottle overall - and the bottle once empty of Ceders is a very snazzy modern style bottle for whatever you would like -eg home made flavoured gin - or cordial - it would sit in most fridge doors too if you wanted to chill either Ceders or your own choice of drink. I like and Chums who I have introduced it too have chosen to buy their own, in some cases in preference to another well known brand. Each to their own but this is good the rose/gersanium variants might suit a Hendricks fan.

I enjoyed this non-alcoholic spirit more than I expected. It has a subtle, delicate flavour (and scent) with floral notes. With tonic water and lemon, it makes a very palatable aperitif. I am surprised another reviewer has described it as 'astringent', as I certainly didn't get that myself.I don't think it tastes very much like normal gin, and obviously it lacks the 'heat' of an alcoholic spirit. If you're not expecting a straight substitute for ordinary gin it could fit the bill nicely, though. Whether I would pay £20 a bottle to buy it in future I'm not sure, but it is certainly growing on me. I am therefore giving it a full five stars, although I did consider reducing to four based on the price.

G&T's are a ritual in our house on a Friday so was looking for an alternative when I go through clean periods of not drinking. This is the first non alcoholic gin I have tried so nothing to compare it to.It isn't quite Gin but then neither did I expect it to be.It is however a very 'adult' drink flavour wise so better than sipping Robinson's squash to feel like the start of a weekend.I did initially think a non alcoholic drink should be cheaper, however the bottle is handy to bring out when we have driver guests and is lasting quite some time so have come to terms with that now.

This is a non alcoholic drink that is made using similar ingredients and processes to the gins you may already be familiar with. The bottle and packaging is well designed and would not look out of place on your drinks cabinet. The flavour is not dissimilar to gin, though if you're drinking it neat it won't feel as harsh. With a good mixer and a slice, this is a perfectly good alternative if you're driving or just want to go alcohol free fora night.

mea culpa for complaining about non appearance of this item. I conducted a more thorough search today ie I found a care worker, I live in a retirement village, who looked in their office and passed my package to me.I have not tried the gin yet so cannot comment on the quality of the drink but all being well will return for more, if you will let me Once again sorry.Pat

This is a very nice drink and amongst all the non alcoholic "gins" by far the best I have tried. The juniper comes through in a clean way which is nice both with tonic or simply water. The only difference is that the "burn" of the alcohol and of course the intoxicating effects are absentThis is really a lovely drink and very highly recommended

I needed to spend some time alcohol free and was getting bored with tonic by itself, when my husband was drinking gin and tonic, so thought I would give this a try. It is a pleasant drink and I enjoyed drinking it, although it is not the same as drinking a gin. A decent alternative if you need to stay away from alcohol.

I am happy to be the nominated driver if I can drink such a good tasing product. It’s not cheap and I probably did need to add a double shot to my drink but it makes a change from drinking cola while everyone else is sipping cocktails.I will buy the classic again. Not sure I would fancy the rooibos version though.

We had brunch at a 5 star hotel and I detected this alcohol free gin on the menu as I don't drink that much anymore and didn't want to end up tipsy on Sunday afternoon. I tried with elderflower tonic, slice of lemon and cucumber. Perfect and refreshing drink but still a bitter taste of gin. Clearly recommend.

I love this non alcoholic gin! It tastes similar to the real thing in my opinion. Other brands I’ve tried have been too sweet, too floral, or unbalanced tasting. This is just right. It goes well with tonic water. Would highly recommend if you want the taste of gin without the alcohol

I really enjoyed this as a gin alternative when driving or if I just didn't feel like drinking. Nice with lemon, ice and tonic - refreshing and enjoyable. Have already recommended it to a relative who does not like drinking and she was impressed too.

This is my favourite non-alcoholic drink and is a great replacement for a traditional Gordons and Schweppes G&T. I like others too as drinks in their own right but this is the closest to my favourite alcoholic G&T.
