I recently bought this camera from Amazon and so far I'm really impressed with it. For starters the build quality is really solid and it looks great in the black finish (much prefer that to red!).As for the camera it takes excellent quality photos with good colour and detail, and with the flash on it can make the images look more bright and vivid. The 35x optical zoom is also quite impressive although it does take a bit of time to set itself, especially when you use it on the max setting and to get the best results you definitely need to use a tripod otherwise it will be blurry and out of focus. The camera also has plenty of other features and different modes such as program, manual, potriat, scenery (landscape) and creative control. Creative control offers some different effects which can be added to a photo such as sepia and monochrome (which was my favourite) and I had some fun messing around with these settings. It is also capable of taking really good macro shots, which I enjoyed using and was quite impressed with the close up detail in the results.I'm giving the camera four stars though because I feel the manual mode is a bit limited and you only have two aperture settings so it isn't very customisable manually speaking. I also felt in low light the images could be a bit noisy and lack detail and at times the colours in some photos can appear a tad muted. Another negative is you cannot zoom in when using the video recording mode which is daft given the size of the optical zoom! However this doesn't bother me too much as I only intend to use it for photos anyway.Despite that I think the LZ30 is a great camera and its got lots of really good features and takes excellent photos and if you are looking for an entry level bridge camera this is definitely worth it.

To start, This camera isn't to be underestimated by any means. When you first start off, like all panasonic cameras, the menu is instantly recognisable, which to those of you who have used the menu system before, there is no waiting around in becoming creative and experimenting with creative filters and full manual functions etc. Even if you haven't used the menu or other panasonic camera products, it won't matter as you will pick it up almost instantly. Aside the software elements, the IA (intelligent auto) mode will allow you to use this camera like a point and shoot for fast, high detailed no hassle shots. Now the absolute key "WOW" factor, That zoom, capable of up to x35 optical zoom is an outstanding tool for you to use whether your on holiday or casually walking in the english country side as it gives you an edge over smaller cameras but also DSLR's which might be limited by size but also limited by the higher price tag of telephoto lens. The only way to really appreciate it, is to buy one.For a full unboxing & overview, Please head over to my YouTube channel "HenPortMedia" where you can see for yourself the zooming capability.Link: http://youtu.be/AmB-KF9QiQQI hope this has been informative.Laurence

I was looking for something that was a step or 2 up from my old point and press, and the pics I can take on my phone. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ30E is as easy as pie to use. 99% of the time I have it in point and press (auto) mode, but I do have the facility to explore the full semi auto mode if I want. The camera is smallish, and light enough without loosing any feeling of robust build. It uses 4 x AA batteries and I find that they last reasonably well. I tend to use rechargeables, but it is reassuring to know that I can usually get AAs anywhere. The lens is good quality and opens out from wide angle to a useful 35 times optical zoom, As well as panorama and HD video facilities.I got it for photos at work, and to be honest, I can go into fairly harsh environments, where it has always performed very well. I have had some cracking photos from it, certainly good enough for brochures and posters, and I have even played with some of the on-board effects. This is a camera that I would be happy to bung in a case or rucksack and take anywhere. I'm not saying it is the best featured, or has the best optics, but for my needs, it is great.

I wasn't sure which bridge camera to go for but having used Panasonic Lumix cameras for the past 8 years I decided on this model and I wasn't disappointed. The camera instructions come on a CD but having downloaded it onto my computer I found it was easier just to print out the pages I wanted instead of the whole manual! However, most of the Lumix settings I have been familiar with in the past were easy to find and operate on this camera. The zoom lens is excellent and pictures clear and sharp. There is a warning and a red square on the viewfinder if you are out of focus, or get too close to your subject. I am still getting to grips with some of the finer points of this camera but overall I am extremely impressed.I recommend that you get a small tripod if you can as you can get a judder when taking long distance photos at first. My only gripe is that holding the camera as suggested in the manual meant that my thumb kept hitting the 'Open flash' button! I have modified the way that I hold I camera and the problem is solved. Overall a good buy for the money.

I first started liking to take photos with my Sony phone, and then uploading them to Instagram. I was as amateurish as an amateur could be. So I thought I'd treat myself and invest in my very own digital camera. Since I wasn't stinking rich, I went for this Panasonic Lumix LZ30E. At first, it took a bit of getting used to, but after a few hours of playing out (And the help of an actual photographer to help show me how to use this bit of kit), I can now get some good photos. The zoom is brilliant, far outreaching any other bridge camera and even rivalling some more expensive models. Their are plenty of modes to choose from to get the perfect shot, and it's durable enough to last. The only issues I had were that the camera turns itself on in my bag a lot, which drains the batteries quickly.Great for an amateur like myself, or for someone who wants a decent camera for on the go. Very well recommended.

lOVELY CAMERA, COMFY TO HOLD, AND A DREAM TO USE!!IT WOULD BE SERVED BETTER IF THERE WERE MORE WRITTEN DIRECTIONS AS TO IT`S USE HOWEVER........as the assumption is that everyone has the capacity to download the supplied disc to glean information as to the camera`s use.....and unfortunately, I happen to be one of those who has`nt got the means to do so !therefor will call on a friend.................but the camera is super, and what bit I have picked up by "playing" with the settings without the gleaned disc imfo, has proved very satisfactory ! The zoom is particularly good !!!!!

I love photography and decided on a bridge camera and this was the one I chose! What can I say it is absolutely brilliant!! The quality of the images is flawless and it's so easy to use. It has a decent weight to it as well so its not too heavy. I am so delighted with this camera and never really considered my pictures worth anything until I got this and it has actually gave me the confidence to make a Facebook page and maybe even start a hobby club.Definitely recommend this to beginner photographers.

It's lightweight and very versatile. I love the zoom lens and the fact that even at high magnification, the built in image stabilisation takes care of all but the most shaky hands.I like the camera but have one small niggle - though the rear view screen is excellent, I would like an eye level viewfinder for precision work.I realise that's a lot to ask for in a camera which cost a fifth of the price of my Canon but if you don't ask...

This camera is a delight to use. The range of options are fantastic but it needs a great deal of practice to become proficient. Am looking forward to spending many happy hours experimenting. Would recommend this camera to anyone who wants the capabilities of a SLR without having carrying all the different lenses. If you find the new small cameras hard to handle as I do this may be the one for you.

I am very pleased with this camera which was bought as a replacement for a much more basic digital camera. I am still geting used to a lot of the additional features that my previous camera didn't have. The instructions that come on a CD are well set out and easy to follow. The quality of pictures is excellent and the camera feels well made and is comfortable to use.

I bought this camera to take better quality photos to document my art work. It was a great price and all the reviews seemed really good so i bought it.I have nothing really to complain about really i just keep forgetting to take the lens cap off when i switch it on but that's my fault cause I'm not used to that, That's all.

Bought as a gift for our son. He's absolutely delighted with the product and has produced some eye-catching results. All the features he needed without getting into the realms of the really expensive DSLRs. Excellent value for money and a great camera for those moving up from point and shoot.

I LOVE THIS CAMERA AND SO DOES EVERYONE I SHOW IT TOO. IT'S A PITY WHEN I LOGGED BACK ON TO BUY ANOTHER ONE FOR MY SON IT HAD GONE BACK TO IT'S ORIGINAL PRICE. I am continuing to look out for it at the price I bought this one for on deal of the day. Still great value at the full price

This is a great little camera for the money and takes great photos, with lots of possible settings for the more skilful amateur photographer whilst not being too complicated for even the most amateur user to use. Very lightweight and delivery, packaging etc., was good and prompt.

Very pleased with this camera and the zoom is just perfect so recommended to anyone who like to take semi professional pictures without breaking the bank. Advice to buy rechargeable batteries with this camera takes 4AA since I bought I used few times and really enjoyed so far.
