The first impressions you have when you get this out of the box is the sheer size and weight of it. This is no lightweight that can be slipped into a bag just in case the opportunity arises to take a picture, You have to plan journeys with this camera!Inside the box was the camera, lens cap, bayonet style lens hood, camera strap, rechargeable battery (specific to the camera not generic), a micro USB Cable and an AC adaptor. What is NOT inside the box is a SD card (preferably a big and fast one) which is essential. Depending upon the type of photography you want to carry out then a full sized tripod would be a good idea in order to really use that impressive zoom.It needs to be full size and very secure considering the weight of this camera. So you have your battery charged up, SD card fitted and you're ready to take photo's.. Like most prosumer cameras it's pretty easy to take basic pictures straight away but there are a bewildering number of controls and options to be gone through beyond that and the manual does a pretty good job of explaining most of the controls. Albeit if you stick it into auto mode then most of the menus are intuitive and you can only change things like ISO, so not much of a problem.First impressions in use were just how meaty this camera is but the grip is very secure and all controls are readily to hand. Someone has thought about ergonomics when designing this camera. It feels like a high quality product. The lens cap is secure but easy to take off and replace. The ample sized LCD screen flips around like all prosumer cameras and can be used instead of the normal viewfinder.I didn't take any close up moon shots as with the small sensor and aperture restrictions you were always compromised between using the lowest possible ISO for quality and reducing camera blur due to hand shake but I did take some daylight long distance snaps of wildlife in the garden and the results were pretty good by my amateur standards. I also took one shot of the transit of the international space station that came out OK by sitting the camera lens up on a sturdy table top! To do the latter i had to switch out of auto mode to play with shutter speeds etc and again the manual was helpful but most menu items were self explanatory. The biggest problem with this camera is also its biggest feature. That huge lens. Even with a decent tripod I was still getting quite a bit of camera shake. Now you could tune it out with settings like ISO and shutter speed but it was most noticeable on video and you are going to want to use this as a video camera because otherwise the 4K video is superb and the zoom would normally be a benefit when filming sporting fixtures from the grandstands. I rarely got a good tracking shot of a motorcycle going past at anything near maximum zoom. Some of that could be down to me and some due to the camera feeling less well balanced at maximum zoom.So overall a superbly high quality piece of kit with a prosumer CCD, plenty of options and a huge zoom for something of its type, let down by awkward weight distribution at maximum zoom.

I’ve been taking photos now for the best part of 20 years, and I’ve tried practically every make of camera out there. Over that time i can say few cameras have really impressed me - im hard to please! This one however has simply blown me away.I’m not going to go in to mounds of detail, but will jot down my reasons for just loving this camera. So addressing the elephant in the room, yes it’s a beast of a camera in terms of size. But simply put, it had to be to get the reach. Its not something you could carry about all day, but it’s not (in my for that kind of use).So who is this for? I’ve seen this camera slated a lot by “experts” saying, its pointless because how many photos can you shoot of the moon, and that’s all it’s good for - what?!? I have recently returned from a safari, and my biggest regret is that i didn’t have this camera with me. Anyone interested in wildlife, especially birds, is going to love this camera. Yes, it has a small sensor and only 16mp so don’t expect to be able to crop - the point is, you don’t have to... the lens gets to so close you’ll have a photo that fills the frame. Having this ability has a distinct advantage over a camera with a bigger sensor and more pixels, but with less reach, in that because the subject is larger in the viewfinder - you can be more confident that what you are looking at is in focus. On the downside the low light level performance isn’t brilliant, however if you use something like topaz noise AI, you can really get good results. What is truly staggering about this camera is the motion stabilisation - i mean it’s insane... just to give you an example. Both photos I’ve attached were taken handheld whilst i was sitting on a sofa, through glass, and the subjects were at the end of the garden. I couldn’t see with the naked eye what the squirrel was doing, just that it was there - and that’s one of the beautiful things about this camera - it allows you to see animals in a whole new way. I guess if i had to sum it up, think of it as a portable spotting scope with a built in camera. Note: I add that it was actually an overcast day when i took these - the light wasn’t that great.Who is this not for... portrait, landscape, fast moving action (unless you have good light) For the money you could get a far better sensor/lens combo.Overall i think a £1000 is steep for what you get, but for £700 it’s well worth the money if you want to get closer to nature, without spending crazy money. You are not going to get planet earth quality shots, but you’ll be amazed at what you can see and capture with this camera.Update: apparently at this time it is not possible to include photos or videos - when/if this becomes available I will resubmit.

I have always considered cameras with ridiculous zoom ranges a bit of a gimmick as it is virtually impossible to hold a camera still above 20 x zoom. Well this one is 125 x zoom and yes sometimes it is possible to get a good shot at that extreme zoom but only when conditions are very good. The image sensor is sub 1" so it needs good light and if the object your want to photograph is miles away the atmospherics conditions have to be in your favour (there is a wind farm of my coast but conditions have been poor so no nice shots of that). Also, in 4K video mode VR is disabled (Vibration Reduction) but 4K results are still pretty good (if you can get it to focus). The camera is quite heavy at over1.4Kg and the battery which is charged in the camera takes hours to charge and on my first charge I only got 145 photos (using the EVF (Electronic View Finder)) with the battery gauge going from one solid bar to "Battery Exhausted" and it turning off.Spare Nikon batteries EN-EL20A, seem to be out of stock at the moment as does the external battery charger MH-29.The filter size is 77mm and of course you will need a quality SD card especially to record in burst mode or 4K video. The camera has no built in GPS to tag the location your photos were taken but can do this using their smartphone app. I thought this was working well (with Android 8) with no user intervention needed on the phone but I noted it located my last photos in the wrong location by about two miles (indicators in viewfinder indicated GPS data was okay).I should also note that an average tripod is of no use with this camera as the mount is on the camera base and most of the weight is in front of this. (my DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses has the mount on the lens to get a good balance of the weight this one does not). The main screen is alas not a touch screen either which would have been useful and the internal stereo microphones sure do generate some very interesting noises (but it does have a stereo mic in socket with plug-in power, not tried it yet however). It is also not waterproof in anyway so be prepaid to protect it from the elements.

A brilliantly creative camera. I am into photography and have several cameras including DSLRs with a range of lenses. But the sheer versatility of the P1000 means it’s the one I grab for everyday use. I print many of my photos to A3 and the results from the P1000 are as good as any. It’s also brilliant for identifying wildlife such as birds which might be far way - just don’t expect pin sharp results at the full zoom, it just isn’t viable in most cases. However, on a tripod and with good light the results can be surprisingly good. All camera types have limitations and the P1000 is no exception, but to be able to take macro photos of an ant, beautiful landscapes, details high up on buildings, street photos without people even knowing or a ship way off in the distance without carrying 3 lenses is just great.Multiple exposures, HDR, special Astro mode, great video quality, manual focus, etc add to the creative opportunities. A camera to just go out and enjoy taking photos with.

Super easy camera to us on autofocus. I have had so much fun using it! The photos have been amazing. Normally I use my phone camera. So this is a big first for me. I did have to buy a book to help me out with all the settings. I was struggling with all of that. And now I have started a collage course on using a digital camera. It’s a long work in progress for me but we are getting there. If you want a digital camera but not a complicated SLR then give this beautiful camera a try. With the lens length you can’t go wrong. I can take photos of the moon. It’s that easy.Once I’m up to speed with this beauty I will update with photos of my work for you to see what you can achieve.

Great piece of kit. If you like to take photos of wildlife or anything that requires a long zoom then this is a fun piece of kit to use. I don't use it all the time, but if I'm going for a walk and want a camera that can easily catch wildlife at a long distance then I have this with me. It is quite a large piece of kit but I do not see it as a problem as I use other DLSR's that, to be honest, are heavier than this. I have read a number of reviews that talk a lot about the small sensor size, but in good light I have not had any issues capturing great shots.

I have had a P900 for some years so I had a good idea of the strengths and weaknesses of this style of camera. The P1000 turned out better than I had expected, the weight is less than my DSLR+Telephoto lens system and the stability is very good, it makes it a good camera when I am walking around uncertain what I might see since it will tackle most situations. I like it a lot. I thought it was overpriced initially but it is more reasonable now and for wildlife and bird photographers it is a good tool to have.

AKA ‘The Globe Killer’ this camera destroys the heliocentric model. Earths curvature is 8 inch per mile squared, ie: 2 miles X 2miles X 8” = 32 inchs. 3 miles X 3 miles X 8”= 72” and so on.Research flat earth and you’ll soon discover, we can see too far.......Please YouTube: ODD 21 questions, mark Sargent flat earth clues, ditrh, jeranism, rob Skiba, Eric Dubays 200 proofs, nathanoakley1980, please dig deep YouTube are deleting truth content.

Very good camera. Decent photo's. Wish it had a slightly bigger sensor and bigger lens though. Can be rubbish at high zoom on a very dull or cloudy day. Has some weight to it so it isn't for everybody. It is not water resistant / proof.Do not drop it by mistake as this really damages it's internals. All in all if your wanting wildlife photography without getting up close and personal this camera gives you that advantage

I bought this to replace nikon p900, I damaged that camera when I fell, wanted to buy same one, as I really liked it, but not available through amazon. This camera is much bigger and heavier, still takes great photos though at times the auto focus is slow, not helpful when trying to take wildlife photos.Quick delivery. On whole am happy with the purchase.

I had been looking at getting this camera for a while and I finally bit the bullet a couple of weeks ago. I'm not disappointed. The picture quality is really good and it's fairly simple to use. A tripod is the next thing on my shopping list, with the zoom fully extended its tricky to hold it steady. Really pleased with it

My hobby of wildlife photography has taken on a new meaning since I got this camera. The zoom on this camera gets me much closer to the subject than any previous camera I've had. Even the small birds like the Robin at 10 yards, tree creeper at 30 yards or the moon at 15 billion miles away are all crystal clear.

perfect camera I swapped my d3400 dslr for this and I’m absolutely delighted with it Marco mode is outstanding and let’s not get started on the moon and Jupiter and saturns rings look amazing through the camera I cannot recommended it enough Nikon done an amazing job on this.

I’ve had this less than two weeks. Couldn’t be happier. The photos I’m getting are just amazing. It is still a bridge camera but it does all I want but you can achieve all this shots without knowing all a vast amount about cameras.
