I'm a big fan of standard T/Gel shampoo, having used it to combat dry scalp problems for the past few years. In spite of its somewhat clinical smell, I've found it to be one of the least harsh of the medicated shampoos while still being one of the more effective.This version of T/Gel is actually more like Neutrogena's T/Sal shampoo (which is a little hard to come by in the UK) as it contains salicylic acid rather than the solubilised coal tar extract found in standard T/Gel. Whereas coal tar is used to treat and alleviate skin irritation, salicylic acid breaks down dead tissue on the scalp, allowing it to be washed away, leaving fresh and clean tissue in its place.I've found both ingredients to be equally effective for easing dry scalp problems but,

I've recently started getting dandruff, which I haven't had for a while. I had previously used the Neutrogena therapeutic shampoo with coal tar extract which was very good at eliminating my dandruff. The smell of that shampoo didn't really bother me as I was just glad I no longer experienced embarassing dandruff. Besides, in my case the smell soon fades after I've rinsed and used my usual hair conditioner.Then I discovered they have Neutrogena T-Gel shampoo for different hair types and decided to give the one for dry hair a go as I do at times have dry hair, especially the ends. I am of black caribbean origin, so my hair type is black afro (though I straighten my hair through either relaxing or hot combing).

I have an itchy scalp which is not really dandruff but it gets worse when the weather changes or I'm under stress. I don't know what the condition is called. I think they call it dermatitis but a mild form. I've been to dermatologists and they say that there is no exact known cause or cure. Just one of those inconvenient and annoying things you have to live with. Anyway I love this product and will recommend to anyone with an itchy scalp but have dry hair. Most anti dandruff products are for oily hair and scalp but that's not always the case and I have tried using those products and find my itchiness getting worse. I now use this regularly at least twice a week.

Stick with the 'old' version of T/Gel Shampoo Dry Hair (see photo). I don't know why Boots have stopped selling this specific Neutrogena product. Maybe it's available at other outlets. There seems to be a more recent version which is scented and somehow 'slimy'. I liked the fact this shampoo doesn't have a scent, and it's very mild, which suits my scalp. I have used T/Gel Shampoo Dry Hair for over two decades, every day. It's the only shampoo that keeps my dandruff at bay, and is gentle to my scalp. I recommend it without reservation

I read many reviews mentioning the smell.my bottle smells lovely.and it's worked so well for my scalp.with the drop in weather temperature,my skin has gone so dry.my scalp was unbearable.a couple uses of this shampoo and I was much more comfortable.very happy.and hasn't dried my hair out which is easy with my curly hair.

This shampoo is very effective at controlling dandruff. I have tried just about every one available across the counter and always go back to T/Gel. Even though it is a small bottle it lasts for ages as you only need a small amount. I find leaving it on for a couple of minutes before rinsing works best.

The only shampoo that keeps my husband's flaky scalp away. It's fantastic, much better that Head & Shoulders which seems to be just for light dandruff. It made a difference within a couple of weeks. It does not have the best smell, but it is a medicated shampoo.

This was great for stripping my hair of the silicone build up caused by Pantene. I like the smell of it and how much better condition my hair feels after using it. I do think it is pretty expensive though.

I couldn't live without this stuff, best product for dandruff far better than that head and shoulders rubbish. I use this every single wash and mix it will the t gel tar one. great product

I love this product, it gets all the lacquer etc out of the hair and off the scalp, any conditioner applied after penetrates the hair gets good results

You have to use a lot of it which isnt very economical but it certainly solves the problem and leaves hair more voluminous and with less split ends.

Neutrogena shampoo is excellent for the treatment of psoriasis in the scalp. Would recommend. Received in good time and good value.

Excellent product.It is certainly well worth the cost and was rated highly by a hairdresser, after I had purchased it.

Cleared my scalp within 3 washes but leaves my hair feeling dry. I would recommend using a good conditioner.
