A good rule of thumb when choosing a shampoo seems to be the simple one 'you get what you pay for'. I don't think I suffer from dandruff these days, and I attribute that to shampooing nearly every day, as I have done for decades now. For added value I can certainly recommend this upmarket product. My own hair has a very fine, fluffy texture but is not as copious as it once was. What it benefits from is a greater sense of volume, and one experience I always like when using it is a kind of 'squeak' from under the fingers accompanying vigorous application. When I hear that I expect the hair to look better.The impressive-looking list of contents goes over my head (forgive the expression in this context)

I'm probably being dim but I didn't realise this was marketed at men - there was no mention of this until I had scrolled down to the product description. However, as the man of the house only has a score or so of hairs, I tested this on myself, as I'm the one with the flaky scalp. It needs quite a lot of product to make a lather, though I do live in a vary hard water area. The shampoo is a rich white cream, with a faint pepperminty smell.Once lathered in, I could almost feel my scalp waking up to a snap-crackle-pop feel as it takes action - I wouldn't have left it longer than the recommended two minutes. Having recently been converted to the cleanliness and ease of use of American Crew shave oil, I was pleased to be given the chance to test their anti-dandruff and sebum shampoo. Like the shave oil, I have also found it to be a big improvement on the product I had been using. It has a pleasant, fresh, minty smell when applied and it lathers easily. It is very light and creamy and not messy in application. It seems to operate both as a shampoo and conditioner and leaves my hair feeling clean, refreshed and easy to work. I was impressed with the pleasing effects it had on my dry scalp and how it improved my dandruff problem. I will be adding it to my shopping list in future.

My teenage son has tried T Gel Shampoo before now, for a skin condition which sometimes leaves him with a flaky scalp. T Gel works well, but has a fairly strong smell and so he was keen to give this a try.This comes in a 250ml bottle, with a flip top lid. It has a strong smell too – rather minty and, I think, nicer and more refreshing. It also has conditioning properties, which is useful. Having used this for a few days, my son’s hair is soft, shiny and in excellent condition. The fragrance is a little strong, but not unpleasant, and it certainly does get rid of dandruff, so works well.

This is a really effective anti-dandruff shampoo that, after a few uses shows real results. It also smells great and is good at clearing out any product used (I've used it after having wax and pomade in my hair on different occasions) leaving hair feeling soft, supple and fresh - unlike a lot of off the shelf anti-dandruff choices you might pick up in the supermarket!This is priced a little higher than similar products elsewhere but the results really do speak for themselves. It smells nice too, which is always a bonus!

This shampoo does what it says on the label. It helps clear dandruff and controls over-oily hair. My teenager suffers from both of these and has struggled to find a shampoo that will keep her hair looking nice for more than a day. This shampoo is full of natural ingredients, smells medicated and leaves her hair shiny and soft for two or three days. No more lank and greasy, it seems to have more volume, more bounce and a better colour. I’m sure this is a hair treatment she is going to want to keep on using.

A strong scent, like most of American Crew's range - very minty. Works well as an anti-dandruff shampoo. Quite a 'heavy' product (as opposed to light/foamy). Personally my preference is not to use it every day, but to interchange it with cheaper, 'normal hair' products.Like all of AC's range it's at a premium price point but I do think the quality is good. I am a big fan of their styling cream products also (which last for a very long time).All in all, recommended.

Probably one of the best anti-dandruff shampoo’s I have used. Not only this but it only takes a small amount in the palm of your hand which lathers up quickly. It’s a creamy substance that smells fantastic however doesn’t last long once your hair is dry.Works for myself, I have medium dry wavy hair although I never had much dandruff to begin with I still can see an improvement after a few usages. Feels great when using but a little pricey for 250ml

Fortunately, I have never suffered from dandruff but I welcomed the opportunity to give this American Crew shampoo a whirl. Stuff I like - nice smell, clinical but nice, thick viscosity on application and lathers richly. Things I don't like - rubbish bottle and then there's the small matter of the price - £11.75 for 250 ml - outrageous. If American Crew looked at maybe a 50% reduction in price this would be a winner (even if you don't have dandruff)!

I have been using this product for years and really haven't found anything to replace it. Other well known and frequently advertised products containing the same active ingredients for dandruff, simply make my hair flat and remove all the body, American Crew does not do that. It is fairly strong, so I only need to use a small amount: so whilst it might be slightly more expensive than other shampoos, I still think it is great value for money.

I got this for my husband. He's tried all the usual thick, creamy type shampoos, which are okay, but usually smell awful. This product, on the other hand, is much lighter, and has a refreshing, clean scent. It's also pretty effective. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than he would usually pay, but then it's worth it not to have that awful school gym medicated smell wafting about! You get what you pay for, I guess.

The old saying of you get what you pay for is very true here. It is rather expensive for a shampoo.On the flip side I have been very impressed with the results and you don’t need a lot to get a good lather going. No signs of dandruff while using. It doesn’t have the greatest aroma, but it’s not unpleasant.4 Stars.

I often have issues with a dry and itchy scalp and have tried lots of different shampoos with varying results however none come close to American Crew. Yes it is pricey but it does last and leaves my hair and head feeling great. Doesn't smell to bad either for an anti dandruff shampoo.

It’s such a wonderful Dandruff repellant, and has quite some nice scalp strengthening qualities. As a model, my hair is such an important part of who I am and this shampoo is definitely my buddy from now on. I must definitely recommend this to my friends.

It does a very good job on dandruff. It seems much better than head and shoulders type shampoo and somewhat better than T-gel shampoo. Eliminates most flaking. Smells better than T-gel; probably the best smelling anti-dandruff product I've come across.
