I've waited 3 months from purchase to give this a chance to work. And it really does.I had been suffering from excess diffuse hair loss for a few months, losing loads when brushing, choking the plughole when washing my hair...it was really getting to me. I had particularly thin hair at my temples, to the point you could see my scalp.My GP assured me it was just a symptom of my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as I'd had a bad flare up the month before. She suggested I try baby shampoo and stop tying my hair up.Anyway, browsing the Lightning Deals one day I came across Nioxin System 3 starter kit, coincidentally the correct one for my fine dyed hair. To make it go further,if my hair is particularly greasy or has product on it I wash it with a cheaper shampoo first, then use the Nioxin once the hair is clean. I'm treating it as a treatment, not a shampoo. The shampoo smells minty and tingles ever so slightly on the scalp. As does the conditioner, it's a bit like the feeling in your mouth when eating an extra string mint. Not unpleasant at all.The two work together and gave me silky soft tangle free hair. Once towel dry I added the lotion, which is less lotion and more a watery liquid in a pump bottle. There are no instructions on how much to use, so I just direct the pump at various points all over the scalp then sort of rub it in.The results have been nothing short of incredible. My hair is no longer falling out, now I am just losing the amount I had before. Whether this is due to the phase of my CFS passing or not I cannot say, but my hair has easily grown almost an inch in three months. This is not an exaggeration! Compliments I've had from those who know me have said that my hair is lustrous, thick and glossy. It's never looked so good, and I really wish I had taken pictures of before and after so I could post them with this review. The previously half bald areas at my temples are now showing new shirt growth which is covering the whole area. I'm delighted. And there's still loads in the bottle as I only wash my hair 2-3 times per week.I've now bought the intensive conditioner too for use once a week, although this system leaves the hair so soft I'm not sure I really need it.I'll be buying another set as soon as I need it, but I'm hoping I see it in Lightning Deals before then.If you're unsure, and have thinning dyed hair, do try this. I have the hair of my teens back - thick, shiny and soft. Give it a go!

I have been using the Nioxin hair system starter kit now for seven weeks.I was recommended it by my hairdresser because since my menopause, (it started two years ago) my hair has been visibly thinning. She seemed to think I only needed system 1 (slightly thinning) but I thought it was worse than that & I would have plumped for system 2 (noticeably thinning). She has told me it is not that bad - as yet, so I obviously am slightly paranoid about it.I have waited to write, as if you look on the many more reviews, the majority say it takes a while to see results. I do use all three products in the starter kit & wash my hair every other day; leaving it on religiously as directed.After six weeks Ihad nearly run out of the conditioner but I still had at least a third left in the shampoo & scalp treatment. This is obviously because I have very long hair & need more for the length. I find if I only put the conditioner on my scalp & not all over; the hair not treated gets frizzy. Hence why I ordered & received a larger bottle of the conditioner & shall do the same when I run out of the other products. (I only bought the small starter kit initially as I did not want to spend a lot of money if it did not work, or if like some have mentioned I had a reaction to it). I've also found I only need to shampoo my hair once as it works so well, (I used to do it twice with Dove Pro.Age).I have what I call female pattern baldness, it is receeding at my widows peaks & thinning at the front; however the back, from the crown is still thick! My hairfall is not as heavy in the shower, bath or on my bush as it was & I can see visible new hair growth at the hair-line now in differing lengths - so it looks a bit amusing when I tie my hair back, (which I unfortunately have to do for work, however I know it does not help). The hair that is growing in seems to be coarser & curlier than before though which is odd but tbh I got so stressed about being bald by the time I hit 50, (soon) I'm not looking a gift-horse in the mouth!I'm going to use the small bottles for when I have a shower at the gym & de-cant into them & buy big ones from now on for at home, as it's more cost-effective. I have not given it 5 stars as I think it is a tad expensive & also I'm not too keen on the strong mint smell, (it's bearable). I do like the tingling sensation it brings to your scalp though.

My hairdresser recommended that I buy this shampoo when I was trying to grow my hair for my wedding last year. I think its really important with Nioxin that you use the correct number for your hair type and you do your research before you purchase, because its not cheap, and I think the results vary depending on your hair type and what benefits you are looking for. My hair isn’t thin, but I was looking for it to grow more rapidly. I do know people who use Nioxin because their hair is thinning, and they want it to grow thicker rather than faster, and I believe it is also good for that too. The principal as far as I can gather is the same, it cleanses the hair follicle to allow improved growth.My hairdresser gave me a few pieces of advice, I was washing and straightening my hair every day, which she told me to stop doing, I now wash my hair on every 2nd/3rd day, to use the Nioxin once a week, and stop using heat treatment so much on my hair. Because I implemented all of these things at once I guess it is hard to tell if it is once single thing, or a combination of them all which helped but I have definitely seen a difference. I went from black hair to blonde hair within the space of a few months, and I have had minimal breakage and my hair has grown really quickly. I find the shampoo makes your hair feel really really “clean”, and if I leave it on too long I do find it can be quite drying. I try to only use it on the roots of my hair rather than the ends. I think that’s the idea, however it is for that reason that I think I wouldn’t recommend use more than once a week, which is why I think my hairdresser recommended that. Love the menthol conditioner also. There are a few products on the market which claim to give the same results, I have not tried them all, but I believe this is the most effective. I would definitely recommend Nioxin, give it a try for a few months and I think you’ll see a difference.

Delivery of this product was quick. Packaging was a little damaged on arrival but put that down to transit. This product is fab! I've only been using it a week but have noticed a difference in my hair already, not in thickness but in how it feels. I have brought this product as my hair is noticeably thinner than it was 3 years ago and I can see my scalp easily through the hair at the front/fringe area. The first few days it seemed very dry on the ends so I've been using the nioxin conditioner and then a little of my old conditioner just on the ends. My hair feels so soft and smooth - I could probably get away with not using my old conditioner but will attempt that over the next few weeks.I love the way the shampoo makes my hair and scalp squeeky clean - it tingles too. The smell is good, very minty. I wash my hair every day due to it being greasy after 12 hours but I was very encouraged when reading another review that said after a while of usage they stopped having such greasy hair and could wash it every other day. Fingers crossed this system works. I think it's a little expensive but hopefully will be worth the money long term. I know a friend who has had cancer (quite aggressive forms) 3 times and gone through radiation/chemo treatments and she swears by the brand - she started using the system after her first course of radiation and she's still got most of her hair, apart from a small part at the nape. She inspired me to give Nioxin a try!

I have fine long hair, but lots of it. Noticed my temple areas look less dense than they used to, so thought I'd try something to help.So far, so good. Only been using it 2 days but like the results already. It seems to plump my hair out more and think is due to the leave in treatment. Note though, that the Nioxin website does not claim anywhere that your hair will re grow, but what they do say is that it should give you thicker, denser looking hair. This is probably due to the leave in treatment though.One small annoying thing was that this box and instructions I received from Amazon was not in English. Instructions came in a variety of languages, but none that I could read,so had to go on Nioxin website to get instructions. No problem really, but was a little surprised no English was supplied.I read on here that some people develop redness. I have very sensitive skin and have experienced nothing of the sort. My scalp is fine after using. The shampoo and conditioner do contain peppermint oil , and as a regular user of essential oils, do know that peppermint oil will burn like hell if applied directly to the skin, so maybe some people are more sensitive to this in the shampoo.Anyway, like my hair after 2 days, and yes it does feel more fluffy. Will report back.

This was recommended to me by my hairdresser after losing a lot of hair due to hair extensions. I didn't expect this to work, so bought this small pack rather than going for the big one. I used the shampoo and conditioner as instructed and also the little spray on my scalp, rubbed in vigorously. I did this every other day until the kit finished. The first thing I noticed within about a week of use was the drastic difference in hair loss when washing my hair. I was used to a fair amount of hair coming out whilst shampooing and expected this was because I only washed it every other day. After using Nioxin, a few strands would come out at most. Therefore this product doesn't make your hair 'look'or 'feel' thicker, it actually DOES make it thicker. I asked my hairdresser how it works and he explained that as well as cleansing the scalp for optimum hair growth (no sebum blocking the pores), it slows down the hair loss cycle. I didn't need to purchase another set after this one. I used it for around about a month or slightly longer and then got my hair cut. It was the thickest it's ever been and almost a year later, the amount of hair that comes out when I wash my hair is still very minimal. I'd recommend this product in a heartbeat.

I don't know where to start really.Well go from the box inwards. When arrive it was nearly packaged and well displayed and it was the correct type for my hair. Upon using it the bottles are easy to grip n dispense, the product smells mint and feels cooling upon application. It has stripped out some of my colour in my red making it more pinkish but I just combated that with using a semi permenant conditioner after the Nixon conditioner. I do use it every time I wash my hair I've notice a difference in my hair strength but not so much thickness. My hair certainly doesn't come out as much upon washing. My hair has been growing better since using it which all of the above was my intention when buying this product.To make my hair thicker, to help it grow better and to improve my hairs health. With the three products for the hair id say it's a value for money considering salons sell it for double the price trying to claim it's a "bargin" which to be fair if you didn't google it you would think it was. I'd reccomend it for someone who was looking for better hair health. Slightly disappointed that my hairdresser said it would help with thickness and I can't see it (maybe that's just me?) I'll defiantly be buying again though :)

I've been using nioxin 5 for about a year now and bought this size for going on holiday but it's also a good way to find out what the product is like and to see if it's worth the money. I started using it in the lead up to my wedding as my hair was so thin and really lacked volume. It looked quite limp and I was washing it everyday as it looked greasy 12 hours after washing. I didn't notice much difference in the first few weeks but my hair felt so much cleaner after just one wash. After 4-6 weeks the greasiness had completley gone and I could probably get away without washing my hair every day. At 8 weeks my hairdresser could see a real difference in the health of my hair and scalp and after a few more I could see a difference in hair volume.My hair now looks above normal volume and is very healthy. One of the best things about this is that you only need a small amount compared to cheaper alternatives. My hair is below shoulder length and I use a blob about the size of a 10p coin for both shampoo and conditioner.

Fantastic product, I didnt spot the size of the bottles, have bought bigger ones before so assumed it was one size. Value for money on this size isnt great but they do offer bigger bottles, the 1000ml works out at very good value for example.On to the product itself, I suffer from dry scalp, very bad at times. I've tried most every treatment/product imaginable and none of them work. I find it fascinating that so many brands can get away with selling shampoos that counter dry scalp and get rid of dandruff but dont actually work at all. Or maybe my heads just special. This stuff really does work for me, whatever is in it is magic, minimal dry scalp, no itchiness or anything else that comes with the unpleasant affliction.It has very specific instructions for use so make sure to follow them carefully to get the most out of the product!I started using this about 6 months ago and I don't expect I will go back to anything else for a long time.

Thought I would use this for a few weeks before posting a review to give it a fair chance, all I can say is I am so glad I bought this.Over the last 18 months my hair has been falling out in large amounts and I was beginning to despair that I would find a solution, I have tried various potions,lotions and tablets to no avail. Since using this over the last 5 weeks my hair fallout has reduced so much, I only wash my hair 2/3 times due to its poor condition probably if you used it more often you might see an improvement faster.If I had one small criticism it would be that the conditioner still leaves my hair a bit dry however I do have my hair coloured and chemically straightened so I use a separate intensive hair mask.I have now purchased the thermal activ heat protector which I also find very good, will definitely be making this my no 1 shampoo and conditioner.

Although I have not used this for 4 weeks yet I am very impressed with the shampoo and conditioner, and have bought them in the litre sizes from Amazon. My hair whilst not yet thicker, is cleaner, shinier and has more volume.....I have even been complimented on it! I have fine hair, very greasy roots, highlights and dry ends, but the conditioner did not weigh down my hair at all, and the shampoo cleans beautifully. You also have to use very little of either product. As a hairdresser myself I try loads of products so am hard to please. However the scalp treatment left me with a terribly itchy scalp after 2 uses and I have now had to stop using it.If you have very sensitive skin or scalp problems it may be best avoided but the rinse out products are fine and I shall carry on with them.

I bought Nioxin 3 because my hair was thinning badly I have tried nearly every other product on the market but they didn't make any difference. I started to use the system about three weeks ago and I must say that I am impressed. It is too early to say if any hair is growing back but my hair looks healthier and thicker and as another reviewer said I can now wash my hair less frequently as it doesn't get as greasy as before. It states on the instructions to apply the scalp treatment twice a day but I only apply it once before going to bed. If are suffering from thinning hair as I was I would certainly give this system a try. I will continue to use Nioxin until I get the result I want.I Have only given the item 4 stars because it is too early to report any hair growth.

Cannot rate this product highly enough.Also can only share my issues and my experience.I was on antibiotics for six months and also had a lot of stress in my life, so was experience hair breakage and hair loss due to that. I am a female (as I think males have different issues with hair loss). I used it for about a month and my hair was absolutely fantastic. It grew very fast, was super thick and breakage stopped. Even from the very first try my hair looked better. I will never be without this shampoo, since my hair is colored and also although I have plenty of hair (normally) it is fine. It tends to add bulk to my hair and make it appear thicker. This is my go-to product when my hair is going through a bad patch,but now, I have decided to use it all the time.

Item came on time, first time I’ve brought system 3, other 2 times I had brought system 4 as reason for buying was somebody had pulled my hair out quite badly!I prefer system 3 for the Scalp treatment as it doesn’t make the hair stiff like system 4 does. Also, I felt it penetrate my scalp more and was the only time I’ve seen my scalp go red like a lot of people say it does, which is nice in a way to know it’s really working. System 4 I didn’t get much of a sensation at all which is surprising as it’s meant to be stronger but it made my hair stiff if put on dry or drying hair.The shampoo and conditioner felt the same as system 4’s,I recommend leaving both on for at least 2 mins before washing off as after a minute or so you feel them really working too.

I have really fine hair, and *gulp* I think it's starting to thin. My hairdresser recommended this Nioxin set. After the first use my hair looked bouncier and with more volume - far better than any volumising shampoo I've ever tried. First time I used the leave-in spray treatment some sprayed on my arm which immediately went red & blotchy, so I stopped using it. My hairdresser then said it is meant to do that as it is stimulating circulation at the roots of the hair where it is applied. So it would be useful the product came with some kind of instruction leaflet / warning about this - but that is the fault of the manufacturer, not the seller.But i love the shampoo and conditioner and will be buying again for sure.
