We bought this after trying some smaller clippers on our long-hairded cat who seems to breed hair mats, which were totally ineffective. These clippers easily ploughed through the tightest of mats and we were able to removed everything very close to the skin without hurting her or nipping that I could see.They're not silent, but quieter than most. Would recommend

It works great on a simple (no-breed) small long-hair cat with fur clumps. I am very happy now to have the solution of this problem at hand. Due to small size this clipper is very easy to maneuver when cutting the fur clumps.I believe that bigger clipper may do even better, but it is not as affordable as this one.
