Don't waste your money on any other electric chainsaw; I've had several. The last one I bought on the strength of being a quality brand name. It was just a year old when the chain hit a nail and instead of the chain breaking, both the drive sprocket and the main drive gear wheel shattered, being grey cast iron. This one looks properly sorted when it comes to design and quality. It may (or may not) be the most expensive, but I am impressed. two previous saws failed on the so called chain adjusters, which fell to pieces, and/or the tension changed when tightened; this Makita has the same pattern of tool-less operation as my small petrol chain saw which has had for years, and has never given trouble.I've included a pic of the last failure; definitely NOT a Makita!

There are many different models on the market for home use, some very cheap and some very expensive. This one I thought was a good price somewhere in the middle and Makita is a good make - I wasn’t disappointed. I chose a 240v version over a cordless because I believe if they are not used regularly the battery may fail. The extra long cable is also very useful when up a tall ladder because you are not dragging an extension cable up with you. It was easy to assemble and easy to use. Well worth the money. Highly recommended for occasional use. Just one thing to remember, chain oil is not included so should be bought separately.

I've had a B&Q sold Bosch electric chainsaw and I though it was fine. Then it was left at my parent's place and I've got myself a replacement. After a bit of research I stopped on this Makita 35cm blade saw. Love it! Yes it is not petrol and you will have a cable (a very generous length is included) trialling behind. However, this saw is very quite, very light and the cutting speed is very fast. Much better than from a similar Bosch saw. I've had it for 4 years now and have no regrets or hesitations in making a recommendation to buy it.

Possibly the first thing to say is that it came with a really long cable and a UK plug. For sure there are plenty of better chain saws out there but bearing in mind that this one comes in at under £100 it is great value for money. For garden clearance and chopping smaller logs it does the job perfectly well.If I wanted to use a chain saw everyday then no this wouldn't be the one to buy, but for occasional lighterweight garden work this gets the job done at a great price.I've a more in depth review on youtube. Easy to set up, light comfortable and easy to use, more powerful than I imagined, cutting a log that was wider than the length of the blade, this makita made lightwork of it, if you have a lot of logs to cut check the oil as it can be thirsty,. After a lot of use unscrew and take off the cover plate and clean out the collected sawdust. Also check the chain after your first few cuts as the chain stretches quiet a bit, I had to adjust mine three times, but that was cutting logs for about an hour. I love using this saw.

After much deliberation I made the switch to an electric chain saw. I had no experience with electric chainsaws so I went with a premium brand like makita to be safe. This saw is great. as long as you keep the chain sharp and always keep an eye on where the lead is you can do anything that a petrol chainsaw of the same size can do. I took doen 3 decent size trees in no time this week. It being no where near as loud as a petrol is a real bonus too.

Does What its supposed to do and so far all OK. Shame it doesn't come with a half litre of oil tho!Had read previous reports of light parts around adjustment of chain but found it not to be a problem on adjustment. Oil filler was OK although one needs to to be careful on filling the oil compartment as not that easy to see when full.Have used twice so far and saved me time and no saw armsor over exhaustion when I used to use an old saw.

The saw as delivered came with an adapter for a British plug. This was totally inadequate. It meant that I had to remove the plug and fit a British 3 pin plug. This was an unexpected problem which has spoiled the purchase. Also until the item arrived there was no mention that it needed oil. It could not be used without the oil.

It's got the power to cut when you need it yet little noise and very easy to use, fantastic no tools needed design, should be on all chainsaws.
