I had a complete Ryobi cordless kit, 18v but the old style nicam batteries... it had a circular saw, which I used to cut 9mm OSB and it struggled and didn't last long before battery changed... that was when new... it certainly wouldn't cut 2" thick timber....BUT.... this Makita?! WOW!!!! I show it to everyone, whether they are interested or not, I can't believe how well it performs... it performs so well, even with the stock blade it came with, I have used it to cut a lot of 2" timber, strip down OSB boards... IT IS AMAZING!Couple it with a decent speed square or mitre template, you don't need to carry around a cumbersome mitre saw... BRILLIANT.I have fallen in love with Makita's 18v LXT range,I'm now collecting! Next on list, jugsaw and router!

Wow , I’ve upgraded my existing Makita 18v to this brushless one , Wow really impressed with the powers of this , I’ve just ripped 4 3meter lengths of 4x2 (full depth rotating stock ) coped far beyond my expectations by a country mile , I was considering the HKC55 but the price put me off , I am glad I used my head as from previous experience brushless is the way to go .Really Really Really pleased !!!!?????

This terrific little saw has paid for itself several times over with the time (and effort!) it has saved me.If you’re running 18V Mikita kit already, then you *need* one of these - maybe not today, but soon; and, once you’ve got it, like me, you’ll be looking for any excuse to use it.I’d recommend the 5Ah batteries, and a spare on the charger, that way the saw can continue to work as hard as you do.

My other skill saws will now be redundant this saw is so light ‘ whisper quiet and cuts like a knife through hot butter with the right blade of course if you use a circular saw I highly recommend you get yourself the Makita DHs680z 165mm 18v Brushless circular saw you won’t regret it

I had the old brushed version of this saw and made a change to the new brushless version when my old one burnt out after 5 years of abuse. The difference in power and how how much longer it lasts is amazing. And again comes with a 3 year warrantee when registered so that's a bonus

Nice light saw that can rip fire doors without the boost kicking in but it's missing something. As a chippy if I was to rebuy I'd go down the route of a 7 1/4 saw , DeWalt or Milwaukee's beast . These saws are more on par with a 110v saw , which this saw isn't

Very pleased with this circular saw, does everything i need it to do and has the usual Makita quality build. The brushless motor really extends the battery life and the saw is very powerful, to the extent that i would not go back to a corded product.

Got the old cheaper version that’s had heavy use so thought I’d go for this better version and am made up with it. The light is a nice feature and it really does help. Love that it blows the dust away as I cut. Unlike my old one.

Great product. Seems to be very well made. It’s relatively light to handle and has worked well so far. Bought this primarily for cross cutting a large pile of sleepers I have for a job, it cuts through really easily.

Fantastic saw, comes with a blade. Can change the angle of the blade to 45 degree cuts. Would have been nice to have a lazer line but that's a minor improvement. Really impressed... Lightweight and very versatile

Makes a nice clean cut.Only niggle is that the light shines on the blade and not onto the guide limiting use of the saw to a brightly lit environment.A 5 ah battery charge last about 30 minutes.

Great bit of kit. As a electrician use it mostly with a scaffolding square to cut nogings- works brilliantly. It’s a bit fiddly to set depth cut though but that wouldn’t put me off buying again.

Not had fore long don't get me wrong love makita but I don't think it is as heavy duty as the old one with brushes all my tools are makita 110v 18v 36v professional joiner I'll rate 8 out of 10

Light and powerfull. High quality blade ( you can feel this as you cut. )Compatable with other 18 V Makita tools, ie same battery fits all.Top marks for MakitaI love it to peices.catrleft29

Build qualities spot on along with plenty of horsepower for damp solid oak(just have a few batterys on hand) it's just as powerful as the Milwaukee fuel (used side by side) just 999% cheaper
