What do you get when you mix a little Mississippi Burning with a touch of A Time to Kill, scrambled with a taste of Dead Presidents and a dash of Carlito’s Way?You get the ambitious, controversial and bold story of Lincoln Clay, the protagonist in 2K Games’ Mafia III.Not Your Average M-17 StoryThis a classic story of revenge, but it’s unique because of its setting, character complexity and heavy racial themes. Clay is a bi-racial orphan who was raised by Sammy, the head of the Black Mob in New Bordeaux (a fictional recreation of New Orleans). The story takes place in 1968 after Clay has returned from the Vietnam War (although there are flashback sequences). Ultimately, his surrogate father and family are killed by the Italian Mob. The Italians, led by Sal Marcano, betrayed the Black Mob, killing them all–except Clay–though they thought they had murdered him as well. That bit of the story was revealed prior to the release of the title. I won’t go any further than that to keep from spoiling the significant events of this well-told tale. However, I will say: this is easily one of the most compelling journeys I’ve come across in a video game. Just as easily, it’s the most decadent and depressing. If you’re reading this and wondering if you should allow your child to play it, my answer would be a definitive: no.The themes, language, graphic violence and mood of Mafia III made me feel dirty. I’ve played games that received the M-17 rating in the past, and I’ve not felt startled by the content.Mafia III takes things to another level. Sure, we’ve heard vile language in games before. Playing Grand Theft Auto is like listening to a rant from the love child of Andrew Dice Clay and Richard Pryor. We’ve seen sexually explicit and mature topics covered as well. This is different in that it presents characters, situations and a vibe that is so realistically negative, its uncensored decadence leaves more of an imprint. Racial slurs, sex talk, you name it, like Ragu, it’s in there. At a time where racial strife is at the forefront of the news, it’s quite possible a game with this type of content is even more eye-popping than it would be if our racial sensitivity antennas weren’t as high.Looking for a good guy? Good luck. There are no straight protagonists; even Clay is an anti-hero.You will get to know the main players thanks to the solid character development, but you may not find one you could root for without hesitation. This might sound like a slight toward the game; it’s anything but. I’m sure it’s the feel the developers and artists from Hangar 13 were going for when they crafted the latest version of their gangster franchise. The story is done incredibly well, but your level of appreciation for it will be based on your tastes and tolerance.Eye and Ear CandyThis is a beautiful game. The character design, facial animations, emoting, lighting, textures and overall style are on another level.Without such realistic models and perfectly synced mouth movements, this layered story wouldn’t have been as effective. The cut scenes are even better than the ones in FIFA 17’s The Journey, and I thought that was the pinnacle of the concept. This serious and tragic story is told in a way that will make you forget you’re playing a video game. The visuals, direction and script are make it all the more authentic. The map design is just as sweet.New Bordeaux comes alive with appropriately dank slums, bright affluent areas and jaw-dropping shadows in almost every aspect of the game. One of the most important parts of the visual package for an open-world game is its scaling. When you’re driving down a road, it’s ideal if you can see details of streets, buildings, etc without them sort of popping into focus once you come within a certain distance.I’ve seen better examples of scaling in other OW games. This isn’t a major faux pas for Mafia III, but it is something you’ll notice quickly if you’re a veteran of the genre. As good as it looks, it sounds even better. From the crackling rocks under the tires of vintage vehicles that are turning on bumpy pavements, to the voice acting and the perfectly curated soundtrack, Mafia III has little room for improvement as it pertains to audio and graphical presentation.Imperfect Engine, But The Car Still RunsClay will find himself in some pretty hairy situations with other members of organized crime and the police. Angling and fighting your way to safety, or positioning yourself for an assassination is a rewarding experience.Games like Mafia III need to have a stellar combat and aiming system if they are to reach classic status. The returns are mixed in this regard.Aiming isn’t horrible, but it’s not ideal. The crosshairs are a little too loose for my tastes. The melee and stealth kills are pretty standard in operation, but they’re still fun to pull off.For the most part, gun battles consist of shooting, hiding behind cover and repeating that short series of action until you’ve killed all the enemies. That can get a little repetitive, but it’s entertaining enough to keep you pushing forward and through the story–that is unless you allow yourself to be preoccupied with your increasing amount of freedom in the open world. You can use tools like intel sight and other stealthy tactics to finish jobs a bit cleaner, but it’s inevitable, you will ultimately have to win your share of fire fights.Driving, which is always a major part of an OW title, feels very smooth. You won’t struggle to drive sensibly, if that’s what you choose to do. In most OW games, driving normal takes an incredible amount of patience and it’s more comfortable to demonstrate vehicular irresponsibility.Mafia III does a great job creating balance in this instance. In many ways, the action/missions are a lot like Just Cause 3–only Clay doesn’t have over-the-top gadgets and he isn’t anywhere near as invincible as Rico Rodriguez. That slight bit of realism actually helps to keep the characters a bit more human.Clay and Rodriguez’s tasks are similar when it comes to the mechanics of completing missions. The checklists don’t vary much from area to area, or boss to boss.In Mafia III, you are either murdering a boss, interrogating someone (with the option of having them work for you or offing them) or in some fewer instances, you’re asked to retrieve an item.If you recruit or force someone to work with you, there are benefits to these partnerships. Some of them are monetary, others will unlock the access to in-game perks such as: on-call arms dealers and a flunky in charge of delivering you vehicles from your garage.Very few missions are memorable, though. The assassination of the Haitian drug lord Baka stands out to me the most, but I mostly remember the cut scenes in between the missions. The early missions don’t feel much like an open-world adventure. The action is very pointed and your missions and objectives are clear. To be honest, that’s when the game is at its best. The huge, sprawling world of New Bordeaux was a large undertaking by the development team, but once you progress deeper into the story and begin to have more free reign of the city, the game partially loses its way.The complete toolbox of options, such as: wire taps, consigliere, informants and captured enemies turned partners makes things more complex, and dare I say crowded.Part of the appeal of Mafia III is its tradition-rich and highly detailed recreation of the late 1960s vibe. I believe that could have been captured in a stage-based format similar to what we see with Uncharted. That approach would have also allowed the story to shine straight through. The OW concept sounds great and can be amazing when it fits properly, but not every sprawling story is best suited for a chainless adventure.I applaud the concept of opening up more of the world and options in a piece-by-piece style. This was done to help keep you focused on the story. However, the deeper you get into the game, the more you begin to feel conflicted.Do I take time to explore the world or continue to uncover the layers of this increasingly intriguing story? It can actually be a little frustrating. Is the gameplay fun? At times, yes. Are there major structural issues with the combat system? No, but there’s definitely an internal struggle that can be felt by the gamer.Slender, But FitHangar 13 goes full bore into its single-player campaign. There’s no online multiplayer, or other mini games. I don’t have an issue with that approach. There’s at least three planned expansions for the title. If you purchased the Season Pass, then you’ll automatically get access to them. Once you’ve played through the initial story, which will likely take the average gamer 18-24 hours of play, there’s nothing left to explore besides the new missions and stories. You could obviously blow off steam by terrorising folks in the open world, but the value in that depends on how goal driven you are as a gamer.Perhaps an option to play through the game from a different character’s perspective would have been interesting. A co-op option might have also added to the experience. The Bottom LineEver listen to a hip-hop album that is laced with incredible production, but the MC’s lyrics and delivery are hit and miss?Mafia III is the video game equivalent to that analogy. The folks in charge of the presentation, script and story have done a bang-up job. Clay’s quest for revenge is enough to keep your attention throughout. If you approach Mafia III as an interactive journey, then you probably won’t have any issue with it overall. If you’re looking for a fully fleshed out title akin to GTA, then Mafia III could come off as a shallow release.I’m somewhere in the middle, but leaning more toward the former. The story and visuals are easily the strength of the game, and the gameplay isn’t flawed or repetitive enough to kill the vibe. This might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you love a good character study and aren’t in search of gameplay mechanics that break new ground in innovation and control, this is one you should own.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this game even from having viewed 2 trailers about it, I took the risk based on enjoying Mafia II very much. The realism about how black people were treated in those days can be an eye opener, the game developers should be applauded as we shouldn't forget how things were and see how things have changed, not as much as we would like but always moving forward in terms of being treated equally. The graphics was really good, just as good and slightly different to how gta is shown, its fun driving around. You would believe being the late 60s there be no fast cars, there wasn't really any in Mafia II, I always found myself chugging along but some cars can really go.With storylines like these there's only like 2 ways to go,naturally making your way through the ranks of being made in the mafia or out for revenge.By being double crossed, left for dead and his family also killed he sets out to avenge their deaths and wishes to use tactics he learned while he was in the Vietnam war, accompanied by a friend who will gather the intel for him on who he needs to take down leading all the way to the main guy who arranged for what happened to him.Around each part of the city and districts there as rackets ranging from drugs, gambling, prostitution and by going around to these places and destroying the merchandise, if any will disrupt the guy who runs it earnings and will make an appearance to know whats going on. When that happens you need to go and pay them a visit, again issued with a choice, kill them or let them live, letting them live will give you an extra $2000 but doesn't really do anything in the long run, you do what you want to do at the time.Along the way you meet 3 other people, a woman whos looking out for her own people, an irish guy and Vito from Mafia II, he complains hes always being screwed over by everyone and never ends up with anything. Each distract you fully take over (2 racket bosses per district) you assign it to one of the 3 people, assigning it to them they will give you upgrades to use, getting rid of police, buying explosives, weapons, more health bars. If you favour more to one or leave one with less or nothing they aren't going to be pleased with you. I treated them equally, given them districts each. There is different ways of playing the game and even different endings with leads to multiple game plays. There is a lot to take out on the map, many markers of hitmen or other rackets even though you may of done enough to make the racket boss appear, I assume this is done to keep the player from being bored, hit 2 rackets and you are done, going straight to sort them out will be harder if you haven't sorted out their enforcers around the map, sorting them out will make take over easier. For me it was a really easy game, I chose Normal setting with low aim help (can choose high aim which is auto targeted, or none for no help) creeping around stealth was like a joke, 90% of the time they never see you and even if they do they slowly walk towards you wondering what you are doing and that's it, take them down, when they find their dead friends they also don't seem too bothered, just a cheesy comment. The music annoyed me, there's 3 radio stations and it seems to me they have like less than 10 songs that keep playing over and over, one of the things I was hoping for was as you can go around the city finding collectables, playboy covers (nothing exciting) album covers, that when you found the album cover the song would play on the radio but no such luck, I ended up turning it off completely.I wasn't happy about the glitches, I cannot really complain as I refuse to make a psn account to download the updates, if I wish to sign in ive got to update the console to the latest firmware, so much control from Sony, I even had the idea of copying my game save to usb to prepare for the possibility of multiple endings but it said "you need to be online to copy saves to usb" crazy. So upon my playthrough I encountered 5 complete crashes with error code (the game saves all the time so not a problem) I kept declining to the terms of agreement that pops up each time, but it wouldn't disappear unless I agreed, which I still refuse to.There's been faceless enemies, floating objects, police vanishing, gps map going black except for player cursor, main map sometimes displayed all collectables and side missions and then there was times it didn't. I wished to do a side mission for one of the 3 partners where you steal a truck of moonshine, 4 times out of 5 I be on the way back to his safehouse and poof, the truck vanishes, im left stood there in the road. The violence can be cringing when using the knife but this is also optional, you switch between lethal and non lethal take downs, sleeperhold or knife though the face.I do look forward to the 3 expansion packs they have announced but wont be jumping to buy them, I should know by now with big games like this there's always going to be glitches, i miss the good old days where you buy a game disc and its close to perfect, no crashes or such.I found it very fun and tried to complete as much as possible, will play it again someday and make different decisions.

Very Decent!I really wanted to give the game a 5 star but, it's not perfect. That isn't by any means a dig, it just needs a few extra bits to make it a good 95%+ kinda game.A lot of other reviews have covered most of the elements of gameplay but in a nutshell;Pros:Driving (typical/simulation) (Cars are from the 60's so are quite heavy, don't expect to be turning a sharp corner at full speed without your car spinning out!)Weather conditions affect driving performance (when it rains heavily, your tyres will spin more...especially annoying yet awesome when doing weed/drug runs through the Bayou!)Graphics are very good - some other people have compared them to PS4,but I'd firmly place the graphics as PS4 - Keep in mind this is a MASSIVE open world game, games like this always have their graphics slightly held back to improve performance.Myriad of weapons, although you generally stick to using only a handful at the start of the game due to funds/unlocks.The Shank. Stabbing someone in the throat, in the face, in the back, in the stomach - NEVER gets dull.Violence - As with any Mafia (R18) game, expect brutal violence - Few instances so far of people being chopped up Mafia style (chopped up with a ban saw, head caved in with a hammer, etc)Music - The game hosts a fantastic selection of 50's/60's classics - more music seems to be unlockable as the game progresses and if you collect more album covers.Storyline - By far the strongest point of the game, you simply can't fault it. If you are a fan of Mafia type stories such as Scarface, Godfather, or even like that classic "LA Noir" story style it's very detailed and thorough. The backstory for a lot of the characters are huge, the general storytelling is performed via active events (the here and now) and also frequent flash backs & flash forwards to the FBI interrogating some of your accomplices years after the game has been set, it's quite enthralling.Racism - You might be wondering, how is racism a pro!? - Because Hanger13 start the game with a factual statement, giving the reasons why they added some harsh racism to the game. Which I totally agree with, it was impossible to craft the game in this era without portraying the (as they call it) "harsh truth of Americas problems" (aka the race war). Expect a lot of the 'N' word usage going on.Alligators.....yes....dump someone's body in the water and watch what happens.Cons:Being an open world game, there is no social aspect - I'm not comparing it to Rock stars social club per say but when playing, you feel very isolated. There are no competitive records for killing sprees/jumps/etc/etc - whilst this is a very small point, I often found myself feeling a bit lonely in a metropolis of so many.Solid bushes. I forget the amount of times I've almost missed my turning, slid off the road and expected to fly through the tiny bush in front of me only to swerve back onto the road....but instead whack into the bush like a brick wall. The same applies to some water plants, I've failed a few boat missions by flipping and subsequently writing off my boat (mid-mission) because there is a weed sticking out of the water!Missions - Some of them can get a little repetitive, but if you are a completions like me...expect to be doing a lot of side missions which involve driving weed shipments from one side of the map to the other and a lot of "bring me this, thanks, now bring me more, thanks....now more, repeat, etc."Install time - First time loading the game, by the time you get through the setup menu the install will be at about 15% - it then takes a good 45 minutes to install the rest of the game. It just sits on a greyish screen with a spiny icon, no artwork or info - just a grey screen...Side note:For reference, after 20 hours of gameplay my game has unexpectedly crashed twice during different events - not sure why, but it's minimal and I'd expect whatever that issue is would be patched over the coming week/s.ALL IN ALL, I was a bit hesitant to buy the game especially because of the lack of pre-release reviews, but I'm really happy with it. One of the games I'd happily spend £40 on!

Well firstly the delivery was on time and goods were packaged just right. As for the game itself, well I've heard reviews that say it's a bit repetitive in itself, and I suppose it is somewhat, but with increasing difficulty as it progresses. What if you like what's being repeated though? I like being able to race around a great looking city like I'm in the classic film 'Bullitt', although it's set in New Orleans and not San Francisco, dodging cars at intersections and getting 4 wheels off the ground over bridges. You get that same airtime on the bridges in the surrounding countryside, but also over some great jumps as you boot it round tarmac and dirt roads like a nutcase out of 'the Dukes of Hazzard.'To this end there are also races you can enter to earn extra cash, which are set about all the different areas of the game, including the aforementioned countryside and swamps, downtown, the docks and more. Then there's the real nitty gritty of the game, as you (character Lincoln Clay) take over parts of the city and the rackets within them, in order to reach your main goal. Yes the missions are similar in that you make your way through the game and although different in regards to how many of them and how hard to kill your opponent's are, but dependent on your tactics, of which I prefer stealth, you kill everyone and then assign one of your bosses to that area.As you take over the city the bosses pay their kickback to you, and you can either pick it up yourself by driving from each boss to the next like a madman, or later on (once you earn the ability), you can regularly ask your Consigliere to collect it for you and watch as your bank balance rises. Of course you can till decide to drive between each of them if you still enjoy the rush if those extra miles in your car.In many ways this reminds me of Grand Theft Auto, but strangely although I don't like GTA, I'm loving this. It also reminds me a little of Assassins Creed in the way you accumulate wealth by controlling parts of the city, and by the stealth killing aspect of the game. Of course there are times when all guns blazing is the approach needed, especially when my stealth approach hasn't been stealthy enough, and in this I'm reminded of Call of Duty or Payroll. The driving dynamics are as good as I've seen on the Ps4 so far, and although I'm still looking for a decent racer on this platform, this definitely sates my thirst for exactly that style of gameplay. All round the graphics are great and the city rather spectacular as it whizzes by in the car, or more slowly of course if I'm on foot. One more great part of this game is the soundtrack, which is all 60's style of track's, much like those found as the background to many a great Vietnam war film, like 'Platoon' or 'Good Morning Vietnam', which is unsurprising being as it's set just after our character has returned from there to find that his whole world is about to be turned upside down.Yeah, I am absolutely loving this game, from the cars and the music, to the killing and acquiring areas and their wealth, all based around a Mafia lifestyle, which having a name like this, makes a whole heap of sense really. Great game in my opinion.

Description - See product description, I'd probably give spoilers describing it.Gameplay - From what I've played, it's quite enjoyable. Storyline is very interesting and with the (many) cutscenes, it draws you in and makes you want to keep playing. The game does a good job capturing the late 1960's and doesn't censor itself (there is a disclaimer at the start of the game regarding this).Shooting is fun, and the way the enemies take damage is a bit more realistic than say GTA. You get ammo from fallen enemies and from a gun dealer. Hand to hand combat is also fun, and takedowns are always entertaining (change in the menu to swap between lethal and non-lethal takedowns).A negative here is that if you silently take an enemy down and another stumbles across their body, there is no real panic about them, they just go into a search mode. Also, they don't register how many bodies are at one spot. This makes it easy to clear a building of enemies simply by drawing their attention to you and hiding around a corner and takedowning all of them.Driving is standard, going around corners can be a bit of a pain. You get two modes for driving in the options menu: Normal and Simulated. I haven't noticed any difference when using simulated but it is apparently for more advanced players.. *shrugs*There are collectibles in the game. These are paintings, two types of magazines and album covers. May be others but I haven't came across them yet.Graphics - The game is quite pleasing on the eyes, and this helps with getting immersed. I have found that by using the brightness settings recommended (by making the slider go to a position so as to barely be able to see a logo) it can be difficult to see things come night time (especially in the swamp/rural areas). Simple fix is putting the brightness up by a bar or two.Pros:Good graphicsImmersive gameplayStoryline is amazingGun fights can be tense (and as such, enjoyable)Takedowns are entertainingCons:Enemies are a tad stupid when it comes to their fallen comradesAfter a while, the activities/side missions become repetitiveHealing system isn't that greatSide note: There are many cutscenes in the game. These are vital to get an understanding of the storyline and background information on all the characters you interact with, including the character you control. Some may find the amount to be a con.. personally I don't mind them. You can always skip them by pausing and pressing the necessary button on your controller.I hope my review has helped and doesn't contain too many spoilers. This is my first review and written off the top of my head.I would recommend getting the game, I'm really enjoying it.PS - I bought Mafia III from a supermarket, and as such won't have a verified buyer tag.

There's been lots of hating on this title - and some of it for good reason, but most of it I find a bit unfair... I think its biggest problem is that it simply can't beat GTA. That game set a standard that others have to beat to be considered progressive and considering we're a few years on from GTA, Mafia 3's gameplay hasn't moved the genre forward. Does that make it bad - not in my book, it just makes it 'another one of those games where you do the same stuff as you did in those other games..' But if you like that then its all good! So that said I still found this really enjoyable... but then I like this kind of thing! I liked playing Mad Max for god sake...!For comparison Lego have been releasing the same game for the last 10 years as have call of duty, Assassins creed, Far Cry I could go on... but I still like all of those games because I don't necessarily need the formula to evolve in leaps and bounds with every title. There is nothing 'broken' about this game. Yeah, the AI could be a lot better, but it doesn't effect my enjoyment... the graphics could be better, but I don't find myself looking at the distant horizon, and analysing the texture of every building and tree I drive past - so why should it ruin my gameplay experience? Some internet commentator have talked about the long cut scenes, and how they 'just want to play the game'... well, this is quite telling as to how much of it they have actually played, because after the first hour or so (a little after you get the big *I will find you and I will kill you* set up) the cut scenes reduce dramatically to only when you take part in a big story mission... there's hours of gameplay in between the story missions if you 'just want to play'.There's the usual bunch of collectables to be had including the playboy issues, which are quite cool because they're all issues from around that time and as well as the cover you'll find in your collections tab you also get the centrefold from the issue and some issues also contain actual articles to read too!! Who knew Playboy did articles?! The Hot Rod magazine collection isn't quite as much fun, neither are the album covers, but if you like boobs then there are more to be had in the collectable Vargas paintings ... and they all add that lego/pokemon got to collect everything vibe that appeals to those of us who are a little OCD!So if you like this kind of game then you'll enjoy it, the story may or may not appeal - although it is beautifully rendered - but at the end of the day you need to enjoy the gameplay and that will live and die on whether you already like this kind of thing!

My first time playing a Mafia game and I'm really impressed with what I've seen so far, I personally really like the Mission Structure and the City of New Bordeaux is beautifully brought to life, the sights and sounds of The Bayou are wonderfully recreated and I have enjoyed exploring it. This game is much more than a GTA Clone, the nuanced commentary on prominent Racial Tensions in American Society in the 1960's is dealt with carefully and the turbulent goings on provides the perfect backdrop for a Noir Revenge Thriller.Yes, it is buggy, not enough to retract from enjoying the game, but they are there, it also does seem to recycle the same familiar pattern of Stealth, Shooting and Driving Mechanics, but I'll be honest, I am still yet to find it boring or repetitive and I must be closing in on the 20 Hour mark but then again I enjoy exploring Sandbox games and appreciating the visual variety and detail the developers have added to the world, hop into a muscle car and take a drive around the block for a few minutes to quickly realise how prevalent the intolerance and injustice is in 2K'S Fictional Recreation of New Orleans.I particularly like the Detail that depending on what neighbourhood your in (Black or White) depends on how swiftly the dispatcher sends the Police, the AI isn't the best admittedly, pedestrians don't seem overly concerned about moving out of the way of a oncoming car, the Dixie Mafia certainly don't seem to notice their numbers dwindle when I whistle and kill them one by one.The Writing and Acting is as good as anything I've seen in a Computer Game that doesn't feature Troy Baker or Nolan North, the facial animations in the cut scenes are reminiscent of L.A Noire, even though I'm somewhat jaded by violence in computer games at this point it seems to pack a punch here, it seems "real", even though in "real life" I'd be a knife wielding spree killer. Don't pay attention to all of the mostly negative reviews, which I was surprised by, pretend that GTA doesn't exist and it may enhance your enjoyment of this game.

I've enjoyed exploring the open world of New Bordeaux, both as part of the story and under my own volition. There are many interesting locations - quarries, factories, boatyards, road tunnels, strip joints and so on. There are more explorable building interiors than in GTA V including a casino and a bath house with a particularly memorable scene. On the downside, the map is mostly 2-dimensional. It's not like you can climb to the top of every building. There are invisible walls blocking your path in many places that appear easily-accessible. This is where the game loses out to GTA. I was also disappointed to find there are no motorcycles in the game.Motorbike stunting is great fun and adds a new dimension to open world games. The story is compelling and very well-acted. I liked the device of using flashbacks as one of the protagonists testifies the sequence of events. I haven't yet finished the game and can see hints of twists and turns coming up.The missions are fun: destroying the shipments and infrastructure of rival gangs; intimidating, tailing and assassinating gang members. The city's police are all on the payroll of the local bosses and so they'll always be against you, even if you're the victim. (Hitmen are hired to get you from time to time).Your allies all want a piece of the action. They squabble among themselves and with you to persuade you to give them control of the various regions and operations you take over. This in turn gives you or loses you the perks they offer. The game borrows heavily from other titles - Frankin's driving slowdown ability from GTA V (even the same sound!), the hacking (wiretapping) from Watch Dogs, the sneaking around and intimidation from Splinter Cell. There's very little that hasn't been seen before. But that's OK. I like that stuff! The collectibles are pretty good - actual album covers, Playboy and Repent magazines, Communist propaganda. All adds to the vibe of the time.Recommended.

Mafia 3 is brilliant but not perfect. There are some good points and some bad points about it. I will start with the good points. Great character Lincoln clay. Liked the graphics they look great. The story was good but not as good as mafia 2 in my opinion. I found certain things with the story to be not as epic as mafia 2 but I did enjoy the combat and stealth kills it was much improved in combat and the driving is great the weapons and cars are great good time period. Now the things that let it down was the fact there are no clothes shops, no garage to store your cars and no way to modify your cars. The game was also very short in comparison to mafia2 in length and the other thing is that you could only carry two weapons with you I would like them to go back to the mafia 2 weapon wheel of carrying all on you would make the combat more fun I find you run out of ammo very quickly with just two weapons. So far I haven't played a Game yet that has beaten the length and playability of fallout 4 or skyrim which I know are completely different games. But it is why fallout 4 was the best of 2015 and skyrim remaster this year. Allot of companies need to take a leaf from bethesdas book when it comes to customisation and size and playability. But don't get me wrong this is a really great game a great addition to the mafia series if you are a mafia fan then I would definitely recommend. Also hangar 13 are planning to release the car modifications in a free update. You can now change your clothes but would be nice if they did it so you could buy different clothes from clothes shops Aswell afterall it is a sandbox game.. Like in mafia 2 but with more choices of clothing. I would of given it 5 stars if the clothing and garage elements were included and it had clothing shops and more weapon carrying capacity in game. on the whole it was a great game, very good story and character development. Just a shame about the small details mentioned.

I was incredibly excited to play Mafia 3, ever since its initial reveal. Inevitably, the waiting period whilst the games release was etching closer and closer was pretty annoying - however it allowed me to envisage how I'd like the game to be, and whether it would then meet my expectations. It has certainly met my expectations. I'll try and get the negatives out of the way beforehand, actually, negative - the glitching. The glitching is obviously expected and it is within reasonable expectations that a patch will be realised in the near future rectifying this.Onto the posted:1) Vivid open world set in the fictitious replica of New Orleons, and I feel it represents that era beautifully,to the point where even the music at parts played originated from New Orleons.2) The storyline is immense, and from a very early point in the game, you feel an instant connection with the protagonist (Lincoln Clay) - I won't go into spoilers but there are a few scenes which are just amazing. The game also presents you with ways to shape the world YOU want to shape it, with decisions needing to be made over who to assign different territories, with differing consequences.3) Choice between styles of play. The gameplay allows for both types of gamers to enjoy themselves, people who want to use stealth and manoeuvre their way through areas will find it satisfying, whilst those gunslingers amongst us will be equally satisfied. Although, during my gameplay I interchanged, as I found the game requires specific styles at specific times. These are the 3 main points I found during my gameplay. I would definitely recommend this for anybody who is a fan of open world games, mafia fanatics and even casual gamers.

Despite reading many bad reviews - I was sure that I would buy this game as GTA-like experiences don't go out too often. Also I loved previous 2 Mafia games, so had to play the 3rd one. Maybe I expected the game to be bad and that's why I quite liked it. Of course it's not nearly on the level of GTA V, but it's still quite fun. Reviews say that it's repetitive and I can confirm that - there isn't much variety in missions. Variety comes with DLCs and I finished them all. I was mainly using stealth approach and I recommend you do it too as enemies are quite aggressive and can kill you quite easily if you are not careful enough. At the same time they are incredibly dumb - feels like AI is from early 2000s.That is one of the biggest issues with this game. Another big one is bugs - even with all latest patches game crashed 2 or 3 times for me, had NPCs not talking to me before going into the main menu and coming back etc. - very disappointing work by QA department. And if I need to name another issues, then it would be monotonous gameplay. But why do I think the game is still good? First of all it's driving - I like the physics and had fun going fast and drifting. Secondly - the story is surprisingly good, you get interested in how it evolves. And last but not least - if you're into stealth, then almost any mission can be approached that way. Is it a hit? Of course not. Is it a bad game? Not really. It's one of those games that is worth getting when it's cheap.

GAMEPLAY: Hours of addictive and enjoyable gameplay, nice sounds on the suppressed pistol and smg, Taking down enemies is realistic and well animated.STORYLINE:, Great storyline with a good concept. Brilliant storytelling cinematic presentation.GRAPHICS: Some great visual graphics in parts depending on lighting (the time of day in game). The visual detail on the clouds and sky could be a lot better.MECHANICS: Cover system is good but not the best, executing melee attacks are slick and well animated. Look Sensitivity could be higher than 10,0.OVERALL: Mafia 3 is one of those games that the more you play, the better it gets. When you've upgraded the stability and accuracy of your weapons and unlock new faster cars and weapons, especially the suppressed weapons that being the pistol and smg, things get a lot more fun. You can easily execute in most parts of the game in stealth. The game is repetitive on having the same basic concept of having to Interrogate, then Kill Enforcers, Destroy Resources, and then Confront to capture each of the Rackets. However this did not bother me as I enjoyed the gameplay a lot. One of the best features on Mafia 3 is calling out your arms dealer, cash collector, or a Car delivered to you immediately on your request at anytime via the radio. You can even call all 3 at once. I'm now playing this game for the second time after completion. I liked it that much.

What a fabulous game. I have now completed the Story and I'm still enjoying the side missions I have left.Yes, there are a few issues.I have had the game crash approximately half a dozen times from beginning to end. Its quite annoying but the game always seems to carry on where I got interrupted, so the auto saves seem to work flawlessly. There are some graphical issues too, especially the day to night transitions.I was initially slightly disappointed with the graphics and the story/gameplay, but once the story kicks in from Lincoln taking revenge, it just keeps getting better and the graphical issues fade into the background.I rarely play a game constantly until the end,but I could not stop playing this.A few people have mentioned that there is no fast travel option. I thought this was odd at first but actually prefer it without. It makes you appreciate how much detail has been put into all the different areas and makes the world seem more believable. It also makes the game last longer, instead of just fast travelling to the next mission point. The music and news on the radio stations are very well thought out and completely relevant to the era.ProsExcellent storyFantastic narrative and characters.Superb controlsGreat atmosphereFun with that, "just one more go" feelingConsOccasional crashGraphical glitches

As a huge fan of Mafia 2, I was excited to discover they were finally bringing out a Mafia 3. I kept up with Hangar 13s and 2ks updates on it etc. Fast forward to the release and my excitement was still high. That hasn't changed, i've probably played about 8-10 hours in total so far and I love it. Lincoln is a great character to play as, the soundtrack is fantastic. The only grumbles I have is that the Police are basically non existent. I can speed past them and get away with it, It's also very easy to lose them. Which is great if you're low on Health in the middle of a Mission, but a bit naff from a realistic point of view. You also can't buy food from Bars or restaurants which is a shame.(These grumbles were just enough for me to give it 4 and not 5 stars, however they are releasing a free DLC patch which will include customisation for Lincoln, so maybe they'll patch the other grumbles too)Think of it as your favourite TV series, you want to keep watching because you're desperate to uncover more story, this Game is exactly like that.(For me anyway)I absolutely love driving around whilst 'singing' along to Creedence Clear Water Revival, Dusty Springfield, Rolling Stones, and Steppenwolf plus many other excellent Bands/Artists from that era ,makes it all the more enjoyable.

I have completed this game 13 times on all difficulty settings and have enjoyed it immensely! The gameplay is immersive and the storyline is engaging and you have a wide range of vehicles and weapons to choose from. The game is not afraid to tackle difficult and controversial issues and handles them well. People have been critical of the open world being empty, but when the new bordeaux races were introduced it added an extra dimension to the game. Now the Faster Baby dlc has been added which offers stunt driving, slow motion driving plus two new vehicles. After you have completed the Dlc there is extra chance to earn more money in the "Herbalism" side quest. There are two more dlc's coming.Stones Unturned in May and Sign Of The times in July. These missions will also add loads to the overall Mafia III experience. The map has large sections that are greyed out which suggests there is even more to come than the dlc's we know about. There is also a lot of empty slots in vehicle delivery service which hints at more vehicles being added! My personal requests are the Samson Opus (Shelby Cobra) and the De Leo Capulet (Ferrari 250 GTO) you can also try the demo for FREE on your console so give it a go! So in summary try and you may not what to say bye bye after all!
