I read quite a few reviews while searching for a carry-on bag to replace my trusty Carlton wheeled bag, after the manufacturer was unable to supply a replacement for a damaged wheel. My children have used Cabin Max bags for several long-haul trips for a couple of weeks, but reported that the fabric had ripped and the seams started to split (possibly due to over-filling and harsh treatment). I liked the idea of a lighter bag with more room than my old wheeled one. Lowe Alpine bags had good reviews and I'm delighted with my bag so far. They do make a lighter-weight version but I opted for this one which uses a thicker nylon fabric. It appears very well made and you can certainly pack a lot of gear in if you roll your clothes and use the compression straps. The laptop pocket is great and easily swallowed a Kindle and a 9.7" iPad. The zips seem very durable (so far). The bag unzips round 3 sides to make packing easier and there is a mesh compartment for keeping "best" clothes flat and tidy. The soft sides of the rucksack make packing a little more difficult than a hard-sided bag, but I think the extra capacity and hands-free carrying more than make up for that. The bag was comfortable to wear with the shoulder straps when fully packed, and the straps can be neatly packed away for taking on a plane (using just the top handle for carrying). I have only done a long weekend so far but the early signs are very encouraging. Highly recommended.

I bought this bag as it was recommended to me as a large capacity, strong and lightweight carry-on for travelling without a check-in allowance, and had confidence in the brand as I have used Lowepro camera bags in the past which lasted years. The best feature of this bag in my opinion is its ability to transform into a backpack, which helps me move quickly through an airport terminal. The straps stow away when not in use, so when I board the plane I can put the straps away which means fewer dangling straps to catch on things and easier stowing into the overhead compartment. It is however designed with zips that allow it to open up like a carry-on suitcase, making it easy to pack and unpack it,especially with the use of packing cubes. Its shape maximizes the carrying volume for its size, and this allowed me to pack enough clothing for a 10-day trip, along with a mirrorless camera kit and toiletries. The internal compression straps help the bag keep its shape when packed and the top pocket provides convenient storage for smaller items. It also comes with a large laptop pocket, which I can't comment on as I don't have a laptop, but it looks like a 15" Macbook Pro would be swallowed easily in it.The bag is made of what seems like strong fabric (seems to be at least as good as if not better than my camera bags) and the zippers feel like they will hold up with many years of use through travels.

I was looking for a perfect travel companion for the last few months and happened to stumble across an advert for the Lowe Alpine AT Carry-on. With a bucket list of European countries to tick off before we finally cut the cord with the EU I decided it was time to invest in a bag that will last on multiple trips around Europe. All major airlines accept this bag as carry on meaning you can save a fortune on low cost flights not having to pay for hold luggage. Do be careful as the limits do vary and while the dimensions may fit fine, the bag is so spacious (I will get on to this) that its quite easy to pack >15kg of items into it and not realise. As the bag does not have wheels there is no rail system running up the spine - thus increasing the capacity further. Also without wheels and rail mechanisms the bag is significantly lighter then a trolley style carry on.The dilemma I faced was whether to get this bag or the "Lifelite" - this bags lighter brother. I opted for the slightly heavier option as the materials are tougher and felt it would stand up to the challenge it faces.Extremely good build quality, rugged material and reassuring, chunky zips that can accommodate a padlock.Concealed pocket big enough to hold a large macbook.Comes with optional shoulder strap.A solid investment for the keen traveller.

I absolutely love this bag and can't recommend it enough! I bought it as I had booked numerous trips away with only hand luggage on the likes of Ryan Air flights, so I wanted to maximise what I could carry by buying a specific-sized carry on bag. I wanted a backpack as I find it easier to carry something on my back rather than pull along a suitcase, and whilst away this aspect proved to be fantastic when I saw others struggling to drag suitcases along cobbled streets. I went away for 6 days, to Belgium, in the winter, and managed to fit everything I needed, WITH SPACE! I was amazed at how much you can fit in this bag, and how well it compresses. It's very comfy to wear too.I found the laptop pocket at the back was useful to store my handbag that I would use whilst away, but so that I was only carrying one bag for the plane (although Ryan Air do now allow 2 bags - check sizes!). I was worried that I may pack my bag too full for the Ryan Air size requirements, but I was worrying unnecessarily. There were definitely others who's bags didn't meet requirements and nothing was said, so I doubt a few centimetres (from me not compressing enough) here or there would matter. The quality and durability of the bag is also impressive. Can't wait to use on my next holiday! Love it!

I bought this for a 3 day trip abroad and it was great!+ A good amount of space for packing so you can fit in a lot more then you expect. Could fit up to 5 days worth of clothes plus shoes.+ Handy water bottle holder on the right side+ Padded handles and straps are nice.+ Opens like a suitcase. Compression straps are also nice.+ Although not advertised as waterproof, it kept my stuff dry when walking around the city in the rain for a few hours.- The large laptop compartment is really unnecessary in this age of pocketable tablets. Would have preferred the extra space. Used it as a documents holder instead.- The zipped compartment on the front doesn't go as deep as it looks, can only fit a few belongiigns in this space.- Although comfortable, I wouldn't like to have this on my back for any more then a couple of hours at time. Would invest in bag with more padding if you indented to carry around a lot.I recommend :)

I love this bag. It's really good quality and looks stylish and robust. There's a concealed pocket on top and a laptop section - which I used for books and paperwork and a front pocket. For a week's travel I had heaps of space left over. The internal compression straps really squish the bag making it very compact. There's a few carry points and I never actually used the backpack straps but used it as a messenger bag.I debated about getting the lite version. This bag is certainly light enough and it still feels as though my belongings are protected. I was surprised how much lighter this is than a wheeled bag.It also means that on transport I could keep the bag on my lap.I was worried that the bag might look a bit masculine but it's not it just looks very stylish and quite urban.

When I first put it on it seemed to be gigantic, but after a while I got used to it. I could easily pack all I needed for 2 different short city breaks and still saved some space for souvenirs. Fully packed it's not the best for long walks, but I think it is the case with all the backpacks weighting 8-10kg. I also used it for going around he city (half packed) and it was comfortable. It looks OK and it seems to be very solid. I found the inside straps helpful when closing almost fully packed backpack. I used it as my hand luggage flying with Ryanair and it can easily fit it in the cabin locker. My documents stayed dry in the front pocket during the rain.I am happy with the purchase and I am sure it will travel with me for many years.

I bought this because I wanted a backpack to keep my hands free while travelling with my baby daughter without losing out on hand luggage space. The fabric, construction and zips are great quality. There's plenty of room in the main compartment which opens wide for easy packing and access to your stuff thanks to the zip around 3 sides. As well as a padded laptop compartment there are a couple of really good sized pockets and even an exterior bottle holder. With 4 ways to carry this pack - rucksack straps which are really comfy, top and side grab handles and even a shoulder strap - you'll always have a convenient way to grab it and go.I'm really happy with this and confident that it's going to last.

I've used this bag a few times to fly with just hand baggage. It's big enough for a 3 or 4 day trip, and perfect for business travel. It has a separate padded laptop compartment, and a couple of external pockets which I use for items that need to come out at airport security (liquids and electronics). I prefer to use the bag in backpack mode, but I appreciate the additional handles on the top and size, and the optional shoulder strap, to give ultimate flexibility.I've flown with Ryanair, Aer Lingus, American Airlines and BA with this bag, and had no trouble taking it on as carry-on.

I have other Lowe products (rucksacks and camerabags) which have consistently proven themselves and this one appears no different, with a good balance between weight and strength. I have not used this in anger yet but the design appears sound and there is substantial stitching around support points (handles etc). Clever idea to stow and assemble the shoulder straps and is easy to do. I will have to make sure not to overstuff it, as I can see that if the bag bulges too much, it will expand to 25cm in depth from the nominal 20 and cause a hike in airline profitability.

This is a top quality item that has been very well thought out. I am currently on a three week trip visiting six countries, finishing and ending with low cost flights with many stops and bus trips in between. This bag us ideal as no weight is wasted on handles or wheels. It straps into a very small space and the multiple handles and pack straps make it easy to carry for a few yards or a few miles. I highly recommend it, both for its usefulness and quality of material and construction. I expect it to last for many years.

I've used this extensively this year, including a flight to France for a week - it easily had room for all my needs. There are just enough outside pockets with, the design remaining streamlined and tidy. Internally the layout is sensible, with a large zip pocket and with straps to tie down the main section. It seems pretty robust, and has no signs of wear after about 30 trips. It fits in the aircraft locker easily, and is fine for the train overhead shelf too. Recommended.

This bag has been designed and made very well, with perfect dimensions for the "Budget" airline carry-on requirements. Easy access to all content in the main compartment of the bag as it opens up like a regular flight case. The rucksack straps are quick to detach and are cleverly concealed within the bag making it easier to check in if required or a cleaner looking bag when used with the shoulder strap. So glad I found this, don't wait, buy one!

Fantastic bag. Too big for me, however, the bag itself is great. Ample space. The straps to tighten and adjust are great. Chest strap can be adjusted or removed. Pocket in the back for laptop or whatever electronic is great as it doesn't need unzipping and in easy reach. I used it on a trip and left my larger suitcase at my homebase and took this bag with me with my basics on the road. Fantastic.

Very well made and bigger than I thought. Nicely designed but gave 4 stars as there are only compression straps at one end on exterior. Bit picky reall as I would recommend this without hesitation. More than enough space for long weekend and, in the right climate with lightweight gear and travel wash, probably a week!
