NO MOUSE MAT! Seems simple but how many times have you 'run off the edge' of whatever you're using beneath your mouse? Then had to lift the mouse, move it to a suitable start position for the next swipe, had the pointer jump when the mouse re-contacts the mat... maybe I haven't tried enough, but this 'weighted ball in a static housing' feels much more natural. Something to do with the stability of keeping elbow and heel of hand in static contact (elbow with desk top/chair arm, and heel of hand with body of this trackball mouse) combined with the fun and sense of control of 'spinning' the ball to send the pointer, in the right direction first go, and stopping the ball(and pointer)usually at just the right point on the screen- or only an easy fine fingertip tweak to hit the spot. Maybe I have more ease with using a fingertip to move things- I play piano and samba(hand) drums, am a trained masseur, and do sound mixing as a job- but this does feel so much more intuitive. The main bit is called a Laptop, not an 'on the desk top'- so why do you need a hard flat surface for the mouse? With this trackball one, you don't. The laptop touchpad addresses this, but is often too small for big moves, and too coarse for fine tweaks.I'll stop now!Read full review...

This is a biased review... I have Three of these creatures. One each for my Internet iMac and Office iMac,and would you believe ? One for my laptop. My Son first introduced me to the Trackball, and I thought, what a neat idea, it just supported my hand, the buttons supported my thumb and I could get the curser from one side of the iMac to the other with aflick of the finger. Before that I was bouncing a mouse around it's mat, sometimes going over the edge ifI wasn't concentrating. So when I got a laptop it was logical (excuse the pun) to get it a Marble Mouse. Itjust seemed preferable to scratching at that square in the centre.Maintenance is easy, you just lift out the ball, wipe off the little fluff balls that tend to gather on thethree ball supports, and the jobs done.Of course today's Mac Mouse is a scientific wonder, where you stroke it with one or more fingers to get it's capabilities, but remembering what does what is another distraction, when all I need is a flick of thefinger.

The Logitec marble mouse has been on my desk for about 4 years and gets extensive daily use. If you're used to a normal mouse it takes about an hour or so to get used to but after that it will be completely automatic. Yes it is as fast as a normal mouse once to have learnt to use it.Benefits in my opinion:Takes less place on desk, less likely to cause RSI, Talking point,Care: Essentially the ball is the mouse mat, keep it clean. Also when you remove the ball for cleaning (just pull it out) you will see three little white nubs that support the ball and allow it to move freely. Clean these also.Great product. It's a shame there isn't many other kinds of this type of mouse on the market. One word of warning. The ball drops out quite easily, I didnt know this when I brought it and like a real dumby turned it upside down only to have the ball drop out and roll under the filling cabinet.

I bought this mouse because I had a very sore shoulder from using a mouse in my right hand for the computer. I'd fallen into the bad habit of using my right-handed mouse too far forward, and my shoulder and neck hurt! To stop the twinging, I used this new special mouse with my left hand to give my right hand a break (you can use the mouse with your right or left hand, as you prefer). Within a day, I had the hang of using the mouse - the mouse stays stationary, and your fingers move the trackball. It completely solved the problem of the shoulder and neck pain, which was great. I like this mouse so much that I take it with my laptop everywhere, even though it is 1.5 times the size of a standard laser mouse.I recommend this mouse to anyone who wants to change their computer mouse habits to improve posture and comfort at a computer desk station.

Brilliant things - computers and operating systems come and go, everything need to be replaced and updated for the latest fashion, but my Logitech Marble Mouse goes on regardless. Easy to use, needs little deskspace, only one moving part (and how would you break that when you could proably play snooker with it?) I take it with me and plug it into the laptop when I'm tutoring so the student can use the mouse pad and I use the trackball simultaneously. Accurate and comfortable - every PC in my house has one. Yes there are wackier trackball designs on the market but the top-ball design is so intuitive to use. Somewhere I read "Thank you Logitech for keeping and not altering a winning design" and I echo those sentiments wholeheartedly. My only regret is that there isn't a wireless version.

Working as a sound designer and audio editor I am at my computer all day and began to notice strain in my hand/fingers from using a more traditional computer mouse. This trackball product takes a little while to get used to but once you are, you will never go back! It keeps your arm/hand in a comfortable position avoiding wrist straining whilst providing accuracy and efficiency when I work. For the price I would recommend this item if you spend long periods of time working on a computer.I have a Mac which it is comparable with. My only complaint is that it does not have a means to scroll up and down, which is why I gave only 4 stars.Others I have looked into that do offer this feature are more expensive so this I believe is justified in the price.Overall great product!

A few years ago I began to find using a conventional mouse painful for my right hand. I tried a few different mice but none really helped. Eventually I bought a marble mouse and trained myself to use my left hand. It took a few weeks but it was worth it!You don't have to grip the mouse in any way and you can be quite aggresive spinning the track ball. It's not perfect for every application and I still use a conventional mouse for some things, but it's the best general input device I have used (and I've been though a few!).This is the third marble mouse I have bought (they're all still working - I just use them on different computers)and the only possible improvement I could suggest would be a scroll wheel on the top.Great value for money!

I bought this mouse for my laptop as both my wife and i already use this type of mouse on other computers. The mouse is very easy to use does not require a mouse mat and although it costs more than a standard mouse i feel it was money well spent. Our two other logitech mice are at least seven years old and still work as good as new, and are very easy to clean just lift out the ball give it a wipe use a small soft brush to clean where the ball sits and thats it. Compared to a normal mouse that you push around a mat it's no contest, on this mouse only the ball moves it is more accurate and needs less space to operate. For me apart from the price there are no bad points about the logitech marble mouse and i would not use any other type.

I started using one of these around 12 years ago due to RSI in the wrist while working with fine digital graphical work. I went through a couple of ball mice before landing on this one which seems to fit the hand perfectly. Others tend to be a bit too wide/flat. The pain and cracking went away within a week of using this. Takes a little getting used to but now I can't go back. My old trusty one died a death so this was a replacement, almost the same but they've fixed the ball in better so if you drop it or knock it it stays in and you're not hunting under chairs for it. I was reluctant to leave this review because the first one I bought was £12 and now they're more than double that,I didn't really want to increase demand!

I'm on my third unit at home now, having used them at home and in work for seven hours a day- for over 15 years. I bought my first one when I developed a shoulder problem due to using a standard mouse which requires a lot of shoulder movement. A trackball seemed to be the logical alternative but when I looked around it became apparent that they all seemed to be moulded for right-handed use only. Since I am left-handed they wouldn't work for me. Then I found this one. It is usable for anyone and I, at least found it very comfortable and easy to use after a little practice. The scroll keys require a driver installation and take a bit of getting used to but once you have, no problems. It's easy to keep clean too.

I've used the Marble Mouse for a few years, now. When it is set up, the whole screen height, width or diagonal is navigable in one finger stroke.I no longer use the Logitech software, but when it is installed, I seem to remember that nipping the two small grey buttons in together toggles the scroll feature. An icon with an arrow appears on the screen and the ball motion scrolls it.I developed RSI with an ordinary mouse, but have no trouble with the Marble Mouse. I rest my wrist on a gel pad. With the Marble Mouse on the right of the keyboard, and a conventional scroll mouse on the left, I get around the screen really well, but it took some practice.

I love the Logitech Mouse/Trackball because its so easy to use whether you are left or right handed. The actual mouse part stays still on the desk while you use the ball to move your curser around the screen and the buttons on either side to click to where you want to be, which makes life a lot easier and less frustrating because you have more control over the curser so it doesn't suddenly shoot across the screen! I have had one of these for a few years now and wouldn't part with it. My dad has taken a fancy to it so I have just bought him one now. I would recommend this mouse/trackball to anyone.

I have really bad RSI particularly in my right arm/hand, and using this mouse enables me to use a computer. Admittedly I keep the mouse rested on my left thigh, move the marble with my index and forefinger, and left-click with my little finger. I can keep going for a long time like this whereas with arms on a desk it's a joke. I don't necessarily recommend anyone do this... but having felt like I COULDN'T use a computer at all, it seems to give me 'browsing power'. It's an up-and-down thing but hopefully this power to use this product will continue for me. Five stars.

I have RSI, so have tried a number of mice over the years. I have been using the Marble Mouse for two days, and I'm converted! Not only is it easy to get used to, it is very comfortable to use and I can already feel an improvement in my RSI.The mouse/trackball has a USB connection, with a PS/2 adaptor. I'm using it through a PS/2 switchbox, so the two extra mouse buttons don't do anything, and I could really do with a scrollwheel, but even with these limitations, the Logitech Marble Mouse is the best, most comfortable pointing device that I have used!

I purchased this because I was suffering muscle strain with a normal mouse. I have used it every day at work for years and have found it to be a real help. Its easy to use and the ball is simple to remove and clean. The unit feels robust and does not move around on the desk. I would never move back to a normal mouse as this is much quicker to use. This is the second unit I have purchased as after many years of use one of the switches started to play up. Given the time and use that is normal ware and tear and I had no hesitation in buying a replacement.
