First off I will agree with others that this is fun for all ages, im an adult with no children and purchased this for myself and I love it! Personally I would have liked more challenging controls but 99% of the time its 2 buttons, jump and attack (unless you use a special attack which you will require using another button)so for those of you who like easy controls then this is for you. It starts with a small tutorial to get you used to knack and his abilities, don't do what I did and judge the game on this too early on, had I have written this after an hour of gaming I would have given a low rating (the lowest) but the tutorial is there for a reason. Graphically "some" of the scenery is stunning to look at,it is more of a "cartoon" like game but still, rock surfaces, caves etc do still look really good. You also feel like you get to know the characters throughout the story and im sure you will really grow to like knack, especially when he is really tiny, others will like him more when he has collected enough relics to make him look like a giant transformer and he is knocking goblins out with one massive right hook to the chin! The levels are great and quite lengthy and the enemies have had some thought put into them too and they can be challenging at times on normal difficulty level which leads me to the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The checkpoints are ridiculous in places, you use skill and a lot of luck to get through waves of enemies only to get to the last one and be taken out only to be taken back not just a few screens but right back to where you started from, this is EXTREMELY frustrating. The other thing is the auto save, the game goes in worlds and chapters, lets use level 5 just for an example it starts as you will imagine 5-1 then goes on to 5-2, 5-3 etc until you reach level 6, my advice would be go to the very next level before quitting not a sub chapter or you will lose far too much progress and find yourself doing an awful lot of work over again. However that's the only 2 faults I can honestly pick, I cant think of anything else negative to say if I tried, considering my girlfriend was dreading the release date of the ps4 and moaned about its arrival thinking she would become widow to a games console , thanks to this game I am being asked to turn the ps4 on to play it and im being hurried up to complete it so she can start a new game and play it herself and I never thought I would see that day! Also I will mention there is a co-operative play mode but if you don't have 2 dualshock 4 controllers but do have a ps vita this will work with this game and a ps4 to control co-operative game modes. I rated the game 5 stars for fun and 4 overall for the checkpoint/auto save issues but all in all an excellent game that can be enjoyed by young or old, male or female, this really is a game for everyone. BUY IT!

I think this is one of the most underrated games on the PS4.The most accurate way of describing this game is a mix between a platformer and a beat-'em-up. You navigate through levels killing any enemies in your path. However some parts of the level require a bit of strategy and well times jumps to clear bottomless pits or other obstructions in your path. Every now and again you will be required to solve the odd puzzle or fight a boss using a new gameplay mechanic - something which is quite refreshing. The graphics are very nice too. Sure, they don't push the PS4 to any limits or extremes but the shading is really good and the textures are actually quite detailed in a cartoony sort of way.I think what people don't like about it is the difficulty of the game. And it's true, the game is hard. There is a very severe lack of checkpoints meaning that you might successfully kill wave after wave of difficult monster only to be left with barely any health, killed by a single weak enemy and have to do it all over again. But it's not impossible and once you do hit a checkpoint, it's incredibly satisfying. Also, the Co-Op mode seems very rushed. The 2nd player only has one or two hitpoints compared to player 1 (who has a proper health bar) and there are no consequences if they die. This means that the 2nd player can be used as to clear out all of the enemies in a room whilst the 1st player sits and waits. There are also certain sections in the game that just can't be completed without without one of the players dying (eg when the floor falls under your feet). On top of that, me and my friend found out ways to bypass entire puzzles using the 2nd player - something that isn't really acceptable and leads me to believe the 2 player mode was either rushed in at the very end of development or just not tested. Maybe even both. Although to be fair, it didn't stop either of us from actually having fun, and obviously you don't need to skip puzzles or clear out rooms just because you can.Knack is fun. I had fun playing it and my friend had fun playing it with me over shareplay. Just keep in mind that it can be really unforgiving at times and has flawed (but still functional) co-op.

I, like many, had this game on pre order. I love the platform genre of games, the likes of Ratchet and Clank and Crash Bandicoot etc. I cancelled it when I saw the review from Gamespot of 4/10.However since then I have read some actual user reviews and made the jump to purchase. And this is what I found. The game is a bit different and refreshingly original. Im getting a bit sick of sequels and remakes.Yes its a basic 3d platformer but it seems unlike anything else I have played for some time and doesn't appear to me to be trying to be anything it isn't. Knacks abilities and change in size etc works well.I don't share the frustrations of the professional reviewers when they complained of have=ing to re build knack every level and that ultimately they couldn't keep him in larger format. That appears to just be part of the game and I like it.The graphics are great. Perhaps only just into next gen but visually pleasing non the less. I do get the feeling that the PS3 would have struggled with this.I have started playing the game on hard to unlock more of the trophies and open up Very hard. The game is very challenging but ultimately very addictive. I haven't become overly frustrated like I did with Darksiders on PS3 on hard setting. I nearly had to buy a new TV for that one as I felt like throwing the controller through it constantly. The story appears OK, the bosses are challenging but there are clear strategies which get you past them.I would have rated this as a 8/10 at this stage and Im about half way through.****since writing the review I have completed the game. It is very good to be fairI still stand by an 8.5/10 review, so much so that Im still playing it now, albeit for the other trophies and better versions of Knack.********If I change my opinion I will update the reviewI managed to get this for £35. Im more than happy with it for that price. If you fancied it in the first place. Order it, you won't be disappointed, I certainly haven't been so far.Mike

First of all, the only reason for playing this game was so that I would receive my PS4 before Christmas, and i'm glad I gave it a chance. Although there have been complaints that the combat system is lacking, this is ignorant in my view. Yes the square button is the only form of attack (bar special moves) but the way the AI are put together means that the way you move and time your attacks is a vital element of the game. The plot is magnificent so say this is a game marketed towards the younger market. It is very Hollywood, but that is what you'd expect and the animations and cut scenes were pulled off superbly, which is a great credit to Sony.Arguably the cut scenes are put together better then what you get from many animated films these days and to say it is a game, and couple with the plot it could be easily made into a kids animation movie.Knack himself: The producers have obviously thought this one through, as the way this little character from the beginning can transform into this giant beast formed solely of relics is phenomenal from both a game-play and graphical point of view. The result of this is that at one part of a game a small bug can seem a challenge for Knack in his smallest form, yet when he is at his largest you wouldn't even see them on the screen and this means the difficulty of the enemy varies dependent on the form of Knack.Overall I would recommend this game for anybody to try. Once you get into it, it is a fast paced, action filled bowl of fun. However considering you get around 3 days non-stop game-play from this I would suggest that people either get this in a bundle, or wait for the price to fall because at £40 it is currently overpriced.

This game is very entertaining and is good fun but personally I find that the lack of variety in the attack moves gets a bit repetitive. The fact that you have to only use a few buttons on the new controller is a shame and that Knack can only punch or use super moves if he can. That is why I do not give the game 5 stars, I like it though, I just don't love it.The graphics are impressive, they look smart and very neat. Whether you are fighting underground or fighting in a mile long airship up in the sky you can be sure that the graphics will not disappoint you. The variety in levels is also very well done and it keeps you interested and on your toes.I have also found this game to be very challenging and I have to have a good few cracks at some levels before I can move on. I love the secret rooms where you can collect gadgets to improve knack in some way or another and you can see which of your friends have found what items which is good fun as well. The campaign gives about 12 hours of gaming hours and I have gone on to try and unlock the specials like 'vampire knack' for example so I am repeating the campaign but it is funner as I have more unlockables. This game is definitely a must buy if you are a ratchet and clack fan, I am and I found that it had the same feel to it, that might be why I enjoyed it so much. Plus I often play two player which is is good fun and the setup is good for it.So overall it is a fun game but I do not give it 5 stars as I find that the fact that you can only punch gets repetitive and it is a shame that they didn't make the combat more varied. However I still really like the game and I recommend it.

I bought Knack as my first PS4 game, and I think the problem and the reason it's gotten bad reviews is because it was hyped up to be the next best thing to Crash Bandicoot. It isn't, but the game itself is a very enjoyable game and throws back to the platformers of the 90's and early 2000's.You play as Knack, a little creature composed of mystical items called 'relics', and when you collect more, you grow in size, as well as gain the ability to speak. (Knack is mute when he's the smallest version.)The gameplay is pretty much a platformer brawler, having you traverse gaps, hazards and enemies, whilst collecting relics and powerup items called Sunstones.I found the game to be a little repetitive at times, and playing as the smallest Knack at the start of each chapter was probably the least enjoyable part of the game, as the real meat of the game is when Knack is larger and can unleash fresh heck on his enemies.Although, this is just a minor downside, and the big Knack gameplay, enjoyable and likable characters, great voice acting, absolutely gorgeous graphics, story and replayability more than make up for it.The short version; Knack isn't Crash Bandicoot, but he can stand on his own two feet and provide a good few hours of entertainment, especially if you're a fan of platformer games, and to be fair, in a time where the game industry is clogged with generic FPS games, Knack is really a breath of fresh air.

so this game gets a lot of negative reviews and i feel the reason is people went in expecting a different game, a different style from what knack presents. its not a high def hyper realistic fps or simulation its an animated little bundle of joy. Its a lot like a modern day crash bandicoot, to quote its developers "on easy this is designed to be someones first game, on difficult it challenges the most experienced of gamer" and i agree with that, its frustrating as all hell, fighting your way through powerful enemies and then being knocked out by the little guy and having to go all the way back to the start (check points are pretty spaced out.) Game play wise it is very dynamic as your size changes so do your enemies and so much your tactics, going from massive to minuscule can be a bit tricky to get used to and forgetting my own strength killed me countless times. performance wise its works well, it may not seem graphics intensive but knack is made of thousands of parts each individually coded meaning if your large and get blown to pieces you can expect a little bit of lag. Overall id say this game is great so long as you understand the game your getting into, its mindless, repetitive frustrating and fantastic.

My purchase of a PS4 coincided with my eldest turning 8 years old and really starting to take an interest in gaming (aside from the throwaway games on the iPad/iPhone). A lot of his school friends are into the Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty type of gaming which I'm still trying to keep him away from for as long as possible.I believe that gaming is better when you grow up and evolve through the genre's just like I did! Sonic the Hedgehog on the Megadrive really shows my age!But I've been on the hunt for good, quality games that are suitable for an eight year old that doesn't carry an age restriction and although Knack is a 12 it is perfectly fine for an 8 year old to play (IMO).Both he and I have enjoyed the challenge of Knack,he has completed the easy run through whilst I'm still battling with the trickier hard play through and trying to collect all of the relevant trophies.Graphics and cutscenes are a good showcase of the advanced PS4 system, but it is the back to basics gameplay for which this game shines. If you are looking for something, not retro, but based upon what gaming values used to be then pick up a copy of Knack!

When I went to pre-order my PS4 the one launch time that stood out as something a bit different was Knack. It wasn't the same old shoot 'em up or racing game, it looked something more unique and that is why I picked it as the game to go with my new PS4.Then the reviews started coming in and really slating the game and I did think about cancelling the pre-order and chording another game but I am so glad I ignored all the negative reviews. Knack is such a fun game to pick up and play. There is no big learning curve like in other games and it is a real throwback to the classic platformers. In fact It's probably one of the best launch titles I've played of any console. The controls are very easy to learn and the gameplay reminds me a bit of the Ratchey and Clank games, collecting power ups and beating up enemies.I honestly cannot believe the poor reviews the press have given this game. I think it appeals to a wide audience and adds something a little different to gaming catalogues that are overflowing with FPSs and racing games. I hope Sony make it into a series like Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank.

Knack is a fun and enjoyable game. Its very similar to platform classic Crash! The story is good but a bit see through. The innovation of knack is brilliant with bags of potential. Unfortunately its not been used to even half of its potential. The ground work has been done and I think Knack 2 will be a great platform and can see it having many sequelsWith that said you still shouldn't miss this one out. Its colorful graphics and well imagined world, story and characters make for a fantastic game that will have you struggling to put the controller down. Its not a massive game and is very linear also the graphics tho nice and fitting for the game are not exactly next gen.Because of these reasons I don't think people should be paying over the £35 mark and don't think it should have ever been near the 50 end!To sum up its a brilliant game but not worth the top end price, its innovative in base ideas but doesn't use those ideas enough even for its maiden outing! All said I will be buying knack 2, and expecting greatness!!!!!

Quite simply Knack is a fun launch game. The graphics are solid but the idea and concept could have been done on the PS3 and that's why it's been slated by the critics - the graphics are better than PS3 but reviewers want bleeding edge Pixar animation, which for a launch title this is not at that level, albeit I think the PS4 could get to that after the developers have a few years playing with the hardware. It's a typical 'Playstation' game, a bit like a Crash Bandicoot/Spyro type game. It's fun, the mine with the relics is the best chapter so far (I think chapter 5). The number of enemies on screen is quite impressive at times.Single player covers 11 worlds and is around 12-13 hours to go through each time,to get all the extra's double that. It's also 48GB in size so no wonder it was never a download only game. Co-op play is also decent. The ability to grow and shrink in a platformer has been done for 25 years, this however puts a new spin on the way it is done and is fun.

Got this game to accompany my new playstation 4, and played the entire game through and enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting a hugely epic game with amazing graphics, however I was expecting another Kameo type game (launch game for Xbox 360) and that's basically what I received, and I wasn't disappointed. The game was very fun to play through and had a very interesting storyline, and let me tell you it isn't a huge walk in the park, I died more times playing knack through than I did Dark souls. (At least, that's how I felt at some points)One thing that bothered me a little was that the game has a fixed camera angle, which took a little getting use too,but once you do it's very enjoyable and was quite immersive for me to play.I would recommend Knack to anyone who doesn't mind a average paced game and enjoys to play games through for the storyline as well as the gameplay itself. All in all I feel this was a very enjoyable game and had a lot of fun playing it through.

This game came with my ps4 bundle and although many people had told me that it was nothing special I actually loved it! I was the perfect age for when Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon were at the height of their popularity and this new game is a throw back to an older style of platform game that I thought I would never enjoy again. In the game you play as 'Knack' - a creature made up of relics and other smaller pieces with the capability to grow and shrink as you go along. The storyline is set in the future where the relics that Knack is made of, power cars and planes ect and the main characters are in pursuit of finding bigger and better ones whilst the threat of a goblin invasion is never far away. The only down side to this is that it doesn't take that long to complete and once completed there isn't much to replay for i.e. bonus levels and hidden objectives. However definitely worth a go. Fun for all ages.

Brilliant game. Got it with my ps4 for christmas (2014) have played the whole game. completed now, but it was brilliant loved every minute. it is between a platform game and a street fighting game to save the world!!! I couldn't put it down. It is up there with crash bandicoot, sonic, mario and all the other great classics there have been over the years. like other people have said it has a great plot and storyline. I love knack from relics,to ice, to wood, to special iron that makes him see through!Knack is a great character, that you will grow to love through the game! my children enjoyed helping me find all the special crystals and relics and watching me beat the baddies!!I hope that they make more great games. I would love to see a knack 2 or sequel to this game. I would reserve it now!!!! What more can i say if you like good platform games then this is definitely one to consider.

Some of the big review sites have totally slated this game. Which has helped the price to come down i guess. Its just a great adventure, in the style of the old Rare games. ( Remember Kameo on the Xbox.. )the story drives the experience, and some of the little graphical effects such as when Knack absorbs Ice or Crystas is just ace.The action dips just a little bit half way through, with one or two repetitive sections, but then it pulls away for a fantastic end part of the game! Do not overlook this game. Get it when you can and play it all the way through. Its very good for the Missus as well!if i was going to become a proper reviewer I would give this 7 out of 10 maybe even 8the story and sequences are so solid for a launch game. Some really nice Bosses to fight as well :)
