Okay, like most toys, particularly licensed ones, this is way more expensive than it probably should be. Given there are no electronics too, I would expect to pay about half of the price. I mostly got this to amuse myself and, to be fair, I think it's actually a really good quality toy. The build is solid, it's a good size and weight and, the spring loaded interior, makes a satisfying noise when smashed against things. However, therein lies the concern, for the very young, the desire to smash something with this will be almost unbearable and careful monitoring will be required! There's also the swing it about and knock things over by accident factor to consider. I let a friend's 3 year old loose with it and, while it was very amusing to watch and he loved it, it was quite nerve wracking as we have just bought a new TV!As for people worried that their older kids will wallop their siblings/friends with it, well, I say control your kids better. They kind of should know not to hit people with stuff really. I wouldn't have done that from a young age is all I'm saying. That said, this is pretty limited and most kids will likely be bored after ten minutes, if that. But, this is a personal review, and I can confidently say this is the best Thor's hammer I have ever owned!

The Marvel Thor Ragnarok Rumble Strike Hammer is a large plastic hammer for your child to play with and pretend to be Thor. The hammer measures approximately 36cm (H) x 20cm (W) x 10cm (D). Although it’s quite large, the main bulk of the hammer is made from hollow plastic, and therefore it’s not particularly heavy. The two ends sides of the hammer and the bottom of the handle include a thick squashable foam-like padding which will protect objects, tables and people from coming to damage by the hammer. Our son has been playing with the hammer for a good few days now and we can confirm that the foam ends really do protect furniture etc from coming to harm. The main thing about the hammer is the sound effects it makes when it hits something.Inside the hammer there is obviously some sort of coiled spring, which when jolted, makes a loud “BRRRAAAANNNNNGGGGGGG” sort of sound. It’s actually very effective, and being mechanical, doesn’t require any batteries. All in all my son’s been very happy with the Thor Hammer, having hours of fun playing the character and racing around the house with the hammer hitting stuff.

As a kid, I was a huge fan of Thor comics, and dreamt of being able to wield Mjollnir to fly and fight evil. In classic, tragic middle-aged man style, I projected this onto my nephew and handed him this hammer with great anticipation. Luckily, he too likes Thor and really enjoys playing with the hammer. I was expecting the noises to be battery powered and was a bit disappointed that the noises are the result of some internal springs and clapper material. On balance, though, those recorded sounds wear thin after a while and can cause some despair to weary parents. As much as I might have enjoyed inflicting that on my sister and brother-in-law,I concede that this lower-tech noise-generation is perfectly good and when married with a child’s imagination, no shortcoming at all.The hammer has soft touch surfaces, so shouldn’t damage your furnishings, but absolutely don’t let your child hit anyone else with the hammer – it will still hurt. If you have a bit of a monster, think about a different toy.

My grandson, who is a big Marvel comicbook fan absolutely loved this, our young son's eyes also lit up and whilst it makes a very entertaining sound 'no batteries needed', they've gone old school for the mallet striking sound, and is a hefty and chunky big plastic mallet - sorry, Thor's hammer, I just get the feeling that if left for long enough one of them may decide to see what it feels like to use it on someone - me probably, if I'm daft enough to nod off when it's out of the toy box. Obviously a tie-in, as is just about everything these days, to the Marvel Universe of films and characters. Great fun, just retain situational awareness at all times as to who has it and where they are.!!

I saw this and had to pick it up for a superhero-loving little girl I know! She was ecstatic with it. Thor isn't her top superhero (that's Spider-Man) but she is well aware of him all the same and was soon tearing around the house proclaiming herself to be the God of Thunder.I was initially concerned about the potential for damage to be caused by her (and other children) whacking bits of furniture, walls, expensive TVs with the hammer but was happy to see that the ends of the hammer are smartly padded. How effective this padding proves to be remains to be seen!

I have seen this on the children's films, and was glad to have a chance to try it with them. Detaching it from the packing is easier than usual, three snips and it's free. The hammer is safely soft, foamy, but looks the part. The sound is quite impressive, for a child, just one effect, hammering, pounding, resounding. 'Rumble Strike BRRNNG' they describe it as. Good fun and pretty safe being padded as it were. Suitable for 5+ age, they recommend. it looks suitably big, in smaller hands!

This is a good toy as far as it goes;I had the idea it may not be as basic as it seems at first glance, but it really is;it's just a large toy hammer with foam ends, that makes a "Boiiiinngg"sound when bashed against a hard surface. That's about it really;I'm glad I got it free to try from the Amazon Vine programme;if I'd paid £19 for it I'd be a bit miffed. So not much else to say;kids will like it,but there'll probably be much cheaper versions in the Pound Shops before long.

My son of 9yrs loves it and still goes around banging the hammer it has rubber ends thanks god and there's a spring inside so when it hits something it sounds like a spring vibration all very good. solid product well done.

The person I had bought this for as a gift was very pleased with it; I have only marked it down a star as the quality of sound is not very good.

This is brilliant, my 5 year old lives this, good sturdy toy but it's foam so he can't hurt himself, anyone else or the furniture.
