I brought this from Game rather than Amazon so this review is of the game not Amazon's service.Having read about the split in the series known as Harvest Moon I was initially highly dubious about this first attempt by Natusme at their own farming game. However reading reviews about the actual game rather than those just upset at the split convinced me to give it a go.This game reminds me of the original Harvest Moon on the SNES as the only thing to do is farm. You can grow as many crops as you like (I currently have over 100 growing at once) and put them wherever you like in the valley. The growing conditions, height of the land, swamp or normal, season etc, can affect your crops giving you mutations. There are meant to be 10 types of each crop due to these mutations and I must admit this feature is the one that really made me try the game. At the beginning it is hard to get mutations as the valley is stuck in winter. However I have accidently made some flower mutations and one crop (strawberry). I am really looking forward to finding out what different conditions cause these effects so I'm avoiding walkthroughs so I get the thrill of discovering them for myself.Basic animals are available, cows, sheep, chickens, and horses. There are areas you can mine at some point and fishing is possible. These are more extras though than the huge mines seen in some previous installments like Animal Parade and Tree of Tranquility. There isn't a town to visit, people just come into the valley or outside your house on certain days of the week. If you love spending time in HM chatting to all the people in town, mining, fishing etc rather than watering crops and caring for cows then this isn't the game for you. If you are a bit of a hermit farmer like me then you will probably love this game like I do as it goes backs to the sheer basics of farming.

Don’t be fooled by the criticism. I love this game from the very first hour. This is far the best Harvest Moon I have ever played since the old glories on Wii. Innovation is the key and it is welcome. You don’t have to spend hours to round in circles to meet and greet townspeople who really don’t care about you, like in HMANB, (with problematic bachelors who need a psychologist like Allen or Neil). Here is the folks that came to greet you. I found many similarities with the story of HM Magical Melody except for the terraforming Minecraft-Style (but here end the similarities with Minecraft)For what kind of audience is indicated? Old and new Harvest Moon fans, except they are so tied to the past not to accept the change (for example at the beginning there is no town and you are alone). In this case I suggest to wait Story of Seasons. For what kind of audience is not indicated? Young players could find it boring… despite the extra cute characters, the Harvest Moon franchise is a challenging simulation game, so no combat and very little exploration. The game comes to Europe with a new bachelor and bachelorette and 4 free dlc.Happy gaming!

Just hit 10 hours of gameplay, and it's great! I've played a few harvest moon games, and while I am missing some things, I am thoroughly enjoying it. There is so much more space on your farm, it's a huge map and you can fully customise it. You can control the rivers and ponds, which influence the drainage of your farmland, and you can control the height of the plains in a similar way to minecraft. I do think that changing the land is quite time consuming, but sometimes it's worth the effort. The requests that come from villagers add just that little extra challenge to the game, making you decide between helping people out, or selling your stuff to get that extra chicken! It really isn't too different to other harvest moon games (i.e.marriage, children, house expansions, animals, crops, tools, mining etc are all still there and pretty much the same). I would say if you're a fan or a newbie then definitely go for it!

Fans of all farming games will love this! After reading reviews I had to give it a go. I was a little concerned about the graphics of this game as I'm not a fan of the whole 3D thing and prefer the old style HM games, but I soon got over that. The farming can get a little tedious as it's missing the original Harvest Moon features where you can upgrade tools to gather more crops at once or water more at once. But there's more new aspects of the game like terraforming and crop mutations. If you like to run around a town and woo the girl/boy of your dreams this game is probably not something you'll enjoy as you're limited to your farm and your cabin where townsfolk gather on certain days.It stillhas a great story and is a good game.

Love it. Quite short to achieve the game but it continues (it would appear) forever. Sweet little game that you can play and watch tv at the same time. No major achievements to earn and days pass quickly but it makes a change from aggressive games. If you like growing vegetables it is the game for you. Probably suits youngsters and old gamers like me.

as I was stuck on winter for quite a while I finally completed a year. I realized this game was never ending and I am exited for the future of the game.if I had to give this game a 1/10 rating I would say 9 and a half because the game is never ending and I like to complete gamesyours sincerelymiss Carmen Thomas

Great first main Harvest Moon game by Natsume. Although this game isn't part of the main Harvest Moon franchise I would say that it's definitely worth the buy. And for those of you wanting the next Harvest Moon game look out for "Story Of Seasons" being released (they had to change the name).

Bought as a Christmas gift for my wife who asked for it as she plays Animal Crossing and loves that as well. Seems to be good, as she is always playing this one now. She said it was a bit of a slow burner and as you progress things pick up. Hey...it keeps her quiet :)

I am a Harvest moon fanatic. The game is new and intriguing and brings to life harvest moon in a different way. Just ignore the critisism.

Not the same as the older Harvest Moon games, it's mixed up with minecraft to make something different.
