I've had plastic marble runs in the past, and what I didn't like about them was I sometimes failed to get the tunnels hooked up right for the run to work properly. Then the pieces didn't fit very well together, marbles got stuck, and the younger children got frustrated with it.What I really like about this set is, however, that almost anyone can make the system work, if even just a little bit. My 3-year-old, for whom I bought it last Christmas, can make a very short little ramp system and be perfectly happy. When the older siblings get involved, or Mom and Dad, then the designs can get rather elaborate. Either way, the children tend to play with it for at least an hour at a time.Secondly,I really like the quality. Basically, the kit is like a set of very high-quality wooden blocks, some with holes and some with grooves and some just solid. The pieces are big and chunky and heavy, so there is very little chance of breaking them (just don't let the toddler start throwing them!). Once you design a series of ramps and turns and drops, you can bump it out of shape and have to re-position everything, but usually the disturbance is minimal and easily fixed.Thirdly, I like all the accessories that you can get for it. Sure, they're expensive, but I'm treating it like an investment (a bit like Brio track) and buying a little at a time. Finally, Haba recognizes the educational value in its system, and provides a booklet with suggestions for doing scientific studies with it. These are, sadly, in German; however, the pictures are clear enough. To me, the Haba marble run and its accessories are worth a hundred action figures, so do yourself a favour, and choose this one item over a handful of cheap/faddish/breakable junk. (My 7-year-old suggested only 4 stars because he likes his Lego better, but this is a close second)

Bought this for my sons 3rd birthday and his face just lit up when he saw it! My older son (5) also really enjoys building tracks, in fact so do I! I like the fact that there are add ons to keep it interesting as well. So far they really enjoy seeing what they can make although they sometimes need a bit of help to make it stable as a bit of movement can make it all come out of place. However they've soon picked up where to place certain blocks to stop this happening. One warning though, when we first took it out we couldn't build very high on the carpet as it keep falling down far too easily. Luckily we had a spare fairly large wooden board so I now have that tucked behind the couch ready forwhen the want to play which really helps (its just a cheap DIY board sheet from homebase if it helps anyone!)Would definately recommend and I don't agree with the other reviewer that said this is just for younger children. I think as children get older they become more creative and imaginative and so will continue to have fun with this toy and their track designs will get better.

Well, I was also surprised by another reviewer who thought this was a worst buy and only for very young children. My son has had his run a couple of years and loves it, he is about to turn 7 and is desperately hoping for some more additions to his! We'll have to see if he gets his birthday wish ;)There is so much creative play to be had. By the way he also uses other blocks that he has to create villages around it and they end up as really quite amazing structures. My 19 year old rather likes getting involved too. Definitely worth the investment.Oh, and if anyone is looking for other creative blocks look at the Kapla.

Such a shame to read one reviewer who considered this toy a mistake. My son received this as a present as a 4 year old and two years later I can say that I have seen it in use almost every day. His older cousin was equally enchanted and now his younger brother too. It really brings out a lot of creativity and they make marble tracks every which way. I really urge you to give this toy another chance! I believe I have several years of fun with it still.

This is a great toy for children, good quality, it can be built different ways and attached to other elements that you buy separately. I bought it for a 2 year old so it's possibly a bit young (the box says from 3) but the point is to keep it for some years. I just wish they would include some additional advice on how to build it beat and what other elements we can add.

Initially, my husband was a little sceptical because of the price but as soon as our daughters had unpacked the box, he was the first to start building. Our 2-year-old enjoys playing with just one run, the 4-year-old can build slightly longer runs, and dad is ever so creative. Definitely a hit!

Bought as a present for my 3 year old granddaughter. It's well made and, by purchasing more parts, easily expandable. She clearly enjoys playing with it, using her imagination to created different 'runs' for the balls.

I bought this marble run for my son, aged 3. It is most certainly the best toy he has had yet!He loves building the runs and racing the marbles down the track.I cant wait to add to our set and increase the fun!!

loads of pillars to build up the marble run which in other sets are always lacking in quantity. very enjoyable lots of problem solving opportunities. Fun and educational.

Haba Ball Track is very versatile and durable. It gives many hours of entertainment and combines creativity with simple fun.

Opened it today, he loved it, though when I bought it might be too young for him (7) but not a bit of it

The product is good quality but I think Haba is a little over priced
