I've used the current version of this pack for two years, and it's probably the most comfortable pack I've carried in over 20 years of backpacking (including 2 long-distance thru-hikes). Really nice padding in both the shoulder straps and the waist belt, which I appreciate for 5-8 days trips, rather than the thin webbing you see on a lot of packs now days. The packbag carries plenty and is easy to access, though I have to say I've never really needed both the panel zip, and the sleeping bag compartment zip. I'd gladly give up one of them for the weight savings. Having two extra zippered pockets and the front stretch pocket adds to the organization options. An area for improvement would be to get rid of the pop-out water bottle pocket on the right side. No serious hikers I know still carry the heavy Nalgene bottles it's singularly designed for, and it would still hold any water bottle, and be a lot more versatile if it were just another stretch pocket like on the other side. Maybe still angled for easier access. The hip belt pockets are nice and sturdy, and I appreciate that they open with one hand (vs. others I've tried). Other than that my only other suggestion for Gregory would be to offer a streamlined 50-55 liter packbag on this same suspension for under 4 lbs. Get rid of the zippered pockets, sleeping bag zip, and panel zip and just leave the front and side stretch pockets, and you'd have a much lighter weight, awesome long-distance pack that could actually carry a week's worth of food comfortably for longer stretches. Overall it seems pretty durable, but did have an issue where the top bag drawcord stitching came undone in the sleeve and tore all the way out, so I had to re-thread new drawcord. Seems like a little closer attention to higher stitch-counts throughout might help.

I'm 6'1 and 150 pounds so I'm taller and very thin, It is hard to find packs that fit a 29 waist at my size and after looking into a bunch of packs I decided on the Baltoro 65. This bag is everything I wanted and more! The color is a beautiful dark and light orange with honey comb print all over. The pockets are located in perfect spots and makes organization very easy. Lots of room for everything even in the 65, I am excited for a big trip I have planned to use it soon. I run a photography company as well so I was considering getting the 75 just to make sure I had room for my camera, 2 or 3 lenses and my tripod but with proper gear this bag can easily hold everything. The ice axe loops on the side is perfect for my tripod which is also a huge plus. Organization again is awesome here, pretty much has 2 pockets on top which can carry a lot and 2 pockets on front that are really helpful. The actual torso section and straps are very comfy and practical. It breathes very well and the belts are insanely easy to pull into place and tight and the sidekick adjustment is a huge bonus. Now, the things I dont like. The pockets on the belt are VERY tiny. The waterproof case cannot fit a normal sized phone, I have a google pixel 2 (and not the large one) no way it's going to fit in there. I will be using it for snacks. Also, the torso does not have much of an adjustment which is a bit of a bummer for even more customization but I managed to get a pretty awesome fit without it. The other thing I dont like is how small the pocket on the sidekick. #sweepstakes All in all, this bag is amazing and I am so happy I invested in a new bag. Great job Gregory! If you want to do some serious backpacking look no further!

I have been carrying heavy packs for more than 35 years (yes, THAT just dated me!), and I can easily say that this is one of the most comfortable, and more importantly for me, well ventilated, packs I have ever owned. I have had numerous packs from another manufacturer, and this Baltoro is beaks and wings above anything I have ever had from that other brand. The fit is great (I am just over 6-feet tall, average proportions, and 190lbs), and the reach of the straps and adjustability of the suspension hits the bill right out of the box. I love the generous places to clip extraneous things to, maximizing the internal space for other packables. I spent 10 years in mountain rescue, and with the versatility, fit, and relative light weight, this would have been a great strike back for overnights when carrying lots of necessary gear. If there is one hesitation, it is that the lightweight nature may result in a tear if you are careless - I got a small snag climbing through some downed logs - caught a sharp branch in just the right place. But if you are remotely careful (I tend to be hard on gear (see, rescue mindset)) and probably could be a bit more mindful, but literally that is my only concern.

I have been trying to get into backpacking for the past ten years, but haven't been able due to injury and other situations. I have slowly been growing my gear and moving more towards lighter; backpacking friendly gear. This pack fits the bill all around. I have always had cheaper packs in the past and I had no idea how much a quality product makes a difference. I have already hiked 50+ miles with 40+ lbs. in the pack and this thing is perfect for the heavy loads. I love all the adjustments that can be made on the fly, to make sure the pack fits just right. I also like the front zipper access to the interior of the main compartment. Makes it easier to get to items when in a hurry.Another feature I like is the removable water bladder holder, that turns into a daypack/hydration pack when removed. This pack has it all and with it's quality make and materials, I know it will last me for years to come. Great pack and worth the money!

Ok, I'm not a gear hoard but the family does have 5 Gregory packs not to mention that an older one was recently donated to a great young women's organization and one that Gregory replaced after a trip to Peru.. The title says it all. Pack comfort is a serious issue for me on extended trips, particularly with shoulder strap pressure over both Clavicles. I've dropped in size from my Cascade 80 to the Baltoro 65 for trips now. The fully adjustable Response A3 harness and yoke system maximizes on my need for comfort (Zero pressure spots, chaffing, and pain) and breathability on the back. The bells and whistles give me all I need for an extended trip or for carrying skis and extras Every pocket and strap is right where I need it.I was going to go up to the 85 but find I have downsized my gear load (Thank goodness for friends) :) so the 65 is perfect. For extended day trips or work I have my Zulu 40. .

While this isn't the lightest pack on the market, it does such a great job of distributing the weight over my entire torso that it's far more comfortable than so many other, lighter packs. My base weight is around 20 pounds and, with the Baltoro, I can cover 10+ miles without any noticeable fatigue from wearing the pack. Although the pack has some great features (integrated rain cover (thank you!), large hip belt pockets, included day pack...) the three features that stand out for me are: 1) the A3 suspension (which is why I can wear it all day with comfort), 2) the breathable back panel, and 3) the water bottle pocket that's angled at 45°. That last one may sound trite but it makes putting the water bottle back so easy.FWIW,I am 6' and 205 pounds with a torso length of 21½ inches, so I bought the large.

Bought it in time for a 25mile overnight and carried tent, bag, mat, stove/fuel, clothes, food, and water without incident. I've never felt more organized w/ a pack...always knowing where everything is because there are ample compartments for like items. I didn't enjoy that you need to undo a few compression clips to be able to access the front loading U-compartment...but that was and is a major selling point for me (having had to unload at inconvenient times in the past to access something in the wrong spot (airplanes/borders/roadside,etc) it was something I wasn't willing to do without in a new pack). The pack was sturdy, comfy, and bears a load well.I like the tactical lowkey color of the grey model and am quite pleased with this purchase.

I had to renew my pack last year which resulted in a ton or research and try-on sessions. I was hesitating between a different brand pack and the Baltoro 65. I am glad I went with the Baltoro. It does everything I want it to do on the trail and more. I love the back support, it filters a lot of the moisture that can build up on your back while on tough inclines. I have been on steep trail sections with close to 50 pounds in the pack and it did not move, the support is incredible. The straps are all super sturdy and allow for a ton of weight management/flexibility. I use my pack monthly and cannot get enough of it! Outstanding job with this pack Gregory!

I haven't put a ton of miles on this pack yet, but the couple dozen I have worn it for proved this pack to be a great investment. The frame/suspension system in this pack make for an incredibly comfortable ride, and the pack itself has loads of storage space and innovative design features like the removable water bladder pouch that converts into a day pack. I got this pack to replace my old Gregory Palisade that I've had for 20+ years, and Baltoro lives up to the hype and is evidence of Gregory's continuous focus on quality design. #sweepstakes

As a girl with broader shoulders this bag fit me wonderfully, as soon as all the straps are tightened properly carrying this bag was not a problem. I purchased this bag for a 5 month solo backpacking trip around Europe and I regret nothing, having the opening from the front and top is so great for quick access, the bag is sturdy and held its own. I have a pretty bad back from many years of competitive swimming so the extra support was needed and the bag did not cause me any pain or discomfort. Can't wait to take it on more adventures

I needed a backpack that I can carry a bear canister since Colorado and other places were requiring one. Did not want to carry it alone in my arms for many miles. Snowshoes are great either with the side straps or hooking bungee cords. Ice axe stays on. Had to buy a small sleeping bag tonfit in the compartment ar the bottom. Fits everything needs for a 2 day trip. The only problem is you have to set the backpack down to get water bottle.

I've come a long way around to finally get this pack and I'm definitely glad I did.I know that most folks say it's heavy. But, for price, size and features you can't go wrong. I have tried a handful of much heavier packs.I found it great for portaging and canoe camping on multi-day trips and even just to jam around on trips with.

I've taken this backpacking numerous times on trips from 2-5 days. The build quality is amazing, and the comfort is the best I've ever experienced. I was coming from an Osprey pack which had super plush webbing on the back, but the lumbar and mid-back support on this bag blew me away. I'll never use anything other than Gregory.

6.3.2019

I tend to go bigger on my backpacks in case I need it. A 45 to 55L pack was recommended to me for what I do but the Gregory Baltoro 65 was lighter AND still had the mash back I was looking for (a must comfort). The fact that it has more compartments and a day pack is just gravy. Can't wait to use it! #sweepstakes

First new pack in 15 years. Such an upgrade. Super comfortable with a lot of thoughtful features. Sure these add some weight but to me they're worth it. Waterproof pocket on hip belt for cell phone, removable day pack, a water bottle holder you can actually reach, trekking pole support and very smart pockets.
