Coming off a pair of Gigabyte Windforce GTX670's in SLI I had some good faith in Gigabyte and looked to upgrade as I am running 5760x1080 on 3 monitors with NVIDIA surround with an accessory 4th monitor. Reducing the complexity, noise, and inherent problems of SLI was one of the drivers for upgrading this card along with the forthcoming support for the DK2 to decrease latency. The card does not disappoint, it is a large card, but not huge, pretty much the same same size as my old 670's (a hair wider and longer). I have a full size case so this does not matter. The amount of memory is great, I went from having 2GB (Since SLI only uses one card's memory) to having 4GB, latency, tearing, and stuttering are all gone. Card speed is amazing, I have tried to tax it but nothing I play (E:D and sim racing titles) do not really push it. I wanted a card that could last for a couple years and it should as it is as good or better than a 780TI which is a couple hundred more expensive. One of the main reasons why I wanted to purchase the Gigabyte over a stock 980 was the outputs, 6!!! So while it can only use four of those, it switches automatically for those that are plugged in. Since I have surround with the DK2 this enables me to be flexible for what type of connector I want to use instead of having to get a bunch of adapters or upgrade my monitors to support my card.Great card, quiet, cool, powerful, great bang for the buck. The 970 is cheaper, but if you want raw power I think the 980 is worth it (I only buy a graphics card every couple years). If I need to in the future I might look at upgrading to a SLI with the 980 but I have yet to find a reason for that yet. Also as you tax a video card it will automatically scale back to cool off, the windforce with its 600W of cooling ability ensures that no matter what I throw at this card, it will be one cool fast beasty!

Short review - an epic card buy it now.Long review:OK - I used to be an AMD fan, even from when it was ATI, don't know why, but I always stayed clear of NVIDIA.Needed an upgrade, used benchmarking software to look at what the uber players were using. Wasn't willing to go dual card SLI (would have meant a new MoBo). So I decided on this.So far it's excellent. I was running 3 screens before with AMD and I already had a transport hub http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00CD2632M?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00So I'm running two native DP's plus the hub. And I am also running an Oculus Rift DK2 of the native HDMI, all with no issues. The NVIDIA GeForce Experience is epic,it optimises games on an individual basis - example: The text in game via the Oculus Rift, was quiet fuzzy, but when it was optimised, the card rendered the game at 3 TIMES THE RESOLUTION and then back scaled to match the native resolution, the improvement was awesome. The NVIDIA GeForce Experience also lets me stream games to my NVIDIA Shield Tablet onto the TV downstairs while using the card in my PC.All in all, I cannot fault this card. If I was to build a complete system, then I would probably go for a pair of GTX 970's in SLI - As far as I can google, the only real difference being that the 980 is more 4K ready plus the 970's require a lesser PSU.An excellent graphics card.

After a little issue with Amazon being too efficient and attempting to deliver this 4 days early (still got it a day early thanks to a loving flatmate) everything was going fine, came in a lovely box, if a little scuffed, and with standards of anti an anti static bag and some 8 pin molex connectors (thank god I didn't have to use them because I have no idea what to do with them)The only real issue I had with the card (might not even be the card could just be my motherboard or whatever) was that I had to really push it down until it made a noise like I had snapped the board itself, luckily it didn't, and then I was able to get on with everything. After all of that installing the drivers was simple, and after a little look into all the Nvidia stuff, it's much better than AMD, tonnes more things to do, and also not to mention it will downsample certain games so you essentially play higher than your native screen resolution.Overall, a bit fiddly, but awesome.

For the price go for it forget about the 970.This card stock boost clocks too 1378 mhz without overclocking. Fans run all the time unlike Asus but are very quiet. This card requires 2 8 pin connection and comes with 2 molex to 8 pin adapters but I would recommend using without connectors to avoid unwanted display driver has stopped working.3d mark 11 17988 OC 20952 +150 coreEnjoy guys

For this price (£369) it's an absolute bargain, handles 2560x1080 at 60fps+ on all settings, probably the best GPU but for value for money the GTX 980ti is the best with 80fps at 4K which is amazingly good for £540, overall one of the best GPU's on the marker.I have used one before for a good few months and am buying one later this month!

Be warned this is a very long card. In a reasonably sized gaming box, it extends out over the hdd bay, meaning that to put a second one of the same in lower PCI-E slot I'd have to remove the hdd bay. Fans are quiet and efficient.

I was torn between the 970 and the 980, got the 980 in the end - an amazing card, well worth the investment, it will probably do me for years and you can always SLI in the future.
