This is smaller than I expected, it's 30 cm high and 15.5 cm diameter. To get the negatives out the way: the feet don't all face outwards when the legs are fully screwed in. I noticed another reviewer complained about this, and I think it's a packing mistake: the wrong legs have been packed, 2 of same sort, instead of 3 different ones.. I could return it, but can't be bothered. I just don't screw one of them in fully, which makes it slightly less stable, but not critically so. I am not using this for jam making, but to assist horticultural purposes: straining fertiliser solution, as I use organic (home made) fertiliser additives, which can clog a sprayer or water pump. Because I'm straining liquids, the bag that came with the stand is not suitable for my purposes, as not fine enough. I would say medium to coarse grade, at a guess. Ok for jam, but less good for liquids. I would think that it's borderline for making yoghurt/cheese and definitely too coarse for nut milk etc. So have bought a separate bag to use with the stand, and found one that fits perfectly around the top of the stand - Therpin 75 Micron Nylon Straining Bag, 22 x 32 cm - which is also far longer, so holds a lot more. The bag that came with the stand is quite small, could easily be longer, although the elasticated rim is a nice touch. The other bag I bought has a tie string, but as it just fits in diameter, I don't need to tighten it. The separate bag doubled the cost, but think the stand alone worth the price as will last forever and makes things so much easier. I would recommend, bearing in mind you might need a different bag depending on your purpose.

We are really getting into home preserving, as we always seem to get a glut of fruit each year. Everyone gets excited when the first rhubarb appears, or when there's a strawberry the birds haven't got to first, but come the end its "aww, not rhubarb crumble AGAIN!"Well, to save wasting these delicious homegrown crops, and to stop other family members complaining, Jam, Jellys and Cordials have become more and more popular, and thats where this bag comes in. It is easy to take apart and store, but likewise, easy to assemble in seconds when needed. The bag washes out easily and hasn't yet discoloured, and the stand isn't rusting and is quite up to the job. Sure, its a little wobbly, but so is the jelly, and nobody complains about that! It fits over a jug or bowl just fine, and strains well, normally giving a nice stream of goodness, not an all round splashdown which entirely misses your jug!All in all, especially for the price, this does its job perfectly. Lets face it, home preserving is about saving money, so why spend more when this will do the job just fine!

I use this solely for straining my green vegetable blend and it's perfect - I don't need to drink all the pulp now, I pour half of the blend into this strainer and drink the rest (with pulp) by the time i get though the drink with the pulp the strainer has strained the other half of my drink. It's brilliant addition to the kitchen and very neat! The only thing I wish it had was rubber feet so that it wouldn't scratch my bench. But I now have blu-tack on the bottom of each let and there's no issue.Really great product! There are very few practical devices for straining vegetable pulp. I'm very certain that people who blend and then use cloths to strain the juice would appreciate this!I found this after searching high and low for something practical.(I don't make jams - don't know how - so I can't comment on its jam capabilities- but 6 out of 5 for being such a practical and easy to clean no mess juice extractor for my green vegetable blend!)

ha ha bob marleyi remember he had trouble assembling the stand to this set as he couldnt get them tight and face the same way.oh how we laughed as Bob put to much fruit in the bag and it went every where scolding his cat "percy" with sugar napalm.laugh? you betcha.bob soon learnt to make smaller batches and add to the bag carefully. He said it was well worth the money and was well impressed with speedy delivery, in fact bob said it would only be better if it had a pumping bass line and dreadlocks'i was miffed when, while humming the 'classic no woman no cry' a blond babe caught his eye and he was off like a shot stopping only to stuff a chupa chup in my gob and say 'you get your sugar fix offthis while me jam sets man'happy days

I wish I had bought this years ago! I am a silver surfer and am buying on line now, its so easy. I am of the generation that makes do and mend. Not anymore. My husband is so pleased that I have bought this! He was fed up with rigging up muslin, string and using the tables or cupboard. (I drew the line at upturned stools or chairs) Upturned chairs, were reserved for unwinding skeins of new wool or in reverse, ripped back wool into skeins, before washing) I can use this straining set for wine making too! My husband says he will still help with the tasting side of things!

Really like this product, so glad I finally bought one. After years with struggling tieing muslins from chairs ect this was a dream to use and worth every penny for the saving in hassle. I was worried it might be a bit small and while it is quite small it holds a suprised get amount of fruit pulp if you carefully fill it. I've used it to make several batches of different hedgerow jelly and it has become quite baddly stained but that doesn't affect use and it seems durable enough. Metal stand is good and just bendy enough to pull back and clip to a fairly large bowl.

We won the first one in a raffle and used it after a super harvest of Damsons. Then bought a second one to cope with a large crop of apples, raspberries and Elder Berries. Children and friends all very happy with their gifts of delicious jams and jellies. We too have a large stock of brilliant jams and jelliesEasy to assemble, dismantle, keep clean and store so overall delighted with our purchase. Look forward to the next harvest. Have already recommended it to our friends and family. Well done.

I researched quite a few similar products and was concerned that some feedback mentioned rusting and the strainer didn't take much weight. I was delighted with the Tala set - it is extremely easy to put together, fits over bowls or a saucepan and takes around 4 lbs of blackberries and apples at one go. It is easy t clean and to store. I was impressed both with the product and the prompt delivery. What's not to like?

I make crab apple jelly from my little tree (about 2-4lb of apples) usually from a small piece of muslin. Having had scolded fingers and hours of standing, gently squeezing the stewed apple, I decided to invest £4.50 in a jelling kit! I will never look back! I stewed the apple, placed in net, it dripped, I made the jelly, happy days! 7 jars, enough for a family and a few presents! Simple but effective!

This is a handy little bag! Big enough to strain a couple of pounds of fruit in order to make jelly. The four loops are very useful for me as I am able to hang the full bag over the cupboard knobs in my kitchen. This makes it very easy to drain the fruit and collect the liquid in a bowl on the kitchen top. When finished it is easy to empty and wash for my next jelly making session.

I have made apple and mint jelly and apple and cranberry port jelly with this no problem at all. It really drains to a dry pulp if you just leave overnight. What quantities can it take? With the mint it was no more than 1kg of apple. With the cranberry 1lb apple, 1 1/4 lb cranberry. Most recipes have these sought of quantities. This is a good six to eight half size jars.

Having never made jelly before I didn't want to spend a lot of money just in case it didn't turn out right. Although this is not as expensive as others it does the job only thing is it is a bit small so I had to do it in two batches .so it does hold 2lbs of rowan berries and 11/2lbs of apples easily and strains perfectly overnight. Result lovely clear jelly.

First impressions on opening the box was that it was much smaller than I was expecting and if you were making a lot of jam you would need something bigger. However it is sturdy when assembled and to my surprise it held 1.8Kg of cooked apples which was perfect for me. Good value but smaller than you might need

Works well and is stable so long as the bowl it rests on does not have too wide a wide mouth. The bag looked small but can easily deal with 6 cups of fruit. It's easy to clean and takes up very little space when collapsed. Arrive a day after delivery date but that's not the fault of the product.

Wasn’t sure what to expect with this as I thought it might be too small, however it’s absolutely perfect! I had four pounds of black currants to make jelly with and after simmering they all managed to fit in the jelly bag. It was easy to clean and the jelly bag didn’t stain - result!!
