I'm a Martian, according to my parents, so the concept of protecting a piece of G-Plan, laminated plastic/wood furniture from a warm dinner plate was beyond me.Now, the concept of even warming plates, so all the heat isn't sucked out your food, is as alien to the younger generation, as I was to my parents . So these stupid things should be consigned to the bin of evolution, no more G-Plan and no more heat rings like crop circles across the dining table. But I still like a hot plate, and hot food. In fact, I eat my shop bought Pizza directly from the pizza stone it's baked on, so it's piping hot and dripping molten cheese and olive oil (always add a drizzle of Olive oil to a store bought pizza before putting it in the oven)when it reaches my gob. I refuse to eat congealed food because the damn plate is stone cold! These corky things do the job, just not like our old ones that were thick, dense, inflexible (yes, like me) and torched by innumerable scalding plates.Four stars for doing the job, one star knocked off because they don't have rivets like Clyde built battleships, it didn't stop them being sunk, but it made sailors feel a whole lot more secure.

This is my second set of these cork mats - they have all been excellent to use. They are big enough for cutlery to fit on, even with an oval dinner plate, good heat proofing, and they look great on my big oak table. The neutral colour allows any shade of table napkins etc. to look good. Just one wish, that there was a spray to make them stain proof! They do clean easily if any bits are spilt, but there is still a darkish area where you have wiped with warm detergent solution. But a very good buy, and very speedy delivery too.

I love these! and they look superb on my large kitchen dining table. Its a lovely dark oak colour and the colour of these table mats contrast beautifully. They are thick (thicker than I imagined) and are exceptional quality. In my opinion, superb value for money. Well-made and durable, not thin and flimsy like some natural cork mats of inferior quality often can be.Delighted! I also love that they are very large too, so enough room for even the biggest dining plates plus your cutlery :)

These mats are easy to wipe, look nice and natural in most colour settings, hot pots and plates can be placed on them, their thermal protective abilities being far superior to 'normal' placemats. I have used cork mats for several weeks on a everyday basis, no problems at all. I did wonder if spilt items would soak into the cork and stain, but after wiping with a damp cloth, milk etc seems to leave no trace, so I am very happy with that!! Would definately buy more in future when required.

I have had a set of cork mats for 12 - 15 years which I decorated with attractive greeting cards and varnished. They are still going strong, and I decided to make myself another set for Christmas using discounted Christmas cards on sale in the new year. I was very pleased with these cork mats as they are much thicker than the ones I originally bought, so I'm sure that they'll be equally hard-wearing, and of course, they're much cheaper than decorated melamine mats.

Decided to try the cork mats after getting fed up buying table mats every couple of months as they didn't last. Love the idea of just wiping over with a damp cloth. Also they don't stick to the table cloth (we use the old fashioned "oil" cloth not sure what you call it nowadays) to save spills on the table. They are large enough to take a big dinner plate. If desperate you can put one on top of the other and use for a hot pot.

These mats are quite thin and I always fear that when handling them that they will tear in half - to be fair, it hasn't happened yet and it might not but you need to be warned that they are not very rigid. They are, however, a great size to use at the table or as a pan stand, or when you have a variety of hot dishes. Very practical with lots of uses. At the price, however, I worry about longevity.

I have been trying to match a set of rubberwood coasters and these are as near as I can get. Useful that they come in a set of 6 as I have 6 of the coasters. They are a good size and a reasonable thickness so they good protection to my wood surfaces. They are a little plain and utilitarian but should go with almost any decor, do the job and let the food speak for itself. Happy with my purchase

Having used cork table mats for several years the ones we had were looking a little 'tired'. Searching the shops, none were to be had. Ordered the set of 6 cork place mats from Amazon who fulfill the order from T&G. The new place mats are excellent, well finished & offer perfect protection to the table from hot plates & other items & at £8.99 are an absolute bargain. Highly recommended!

Quickly delivered by Amazon and well packaged. Nothing fancy for a table mat but the idea is for something to protect the table from hot dishes. These mats look just as they are. Natural cork, neutral colour, lightweight and don't take up too much room to store. They look fine on a tablecloth. When they reach the end of their life good to know that they are totally recycleable

Contrary to their name, we have used the Place Mats to protect the coffee table and a nest of tables, which they do very well. This is the third set I have purchased. My Aunt admired the first, so I purchased two more sets from Amazon, one as part of our Christmas present for her and a further set for us. I wish T & G would also produce larger mats. Thoroughly recommended.

Were quite thin have only used them once so don't know about durability can only say it protected my table from hot plates so in that respect they have done the job that was intended. Last cork mats I had stained easily with gravy etc and they didn't clean up. Have considered painting them with some sort of substance to make them easily wiped but who knows.

Did you grow up with wicker or cork tablemats? If so, you'll love these. They're a hardy, dense cork that are light and vibrant rather than dark and flakey. Easy to clean, stain resistant and cheap to replace if anything goes awry. They stack neatly and require no effort to lift or adjust unlike oversized 'designed' ones. Brilliant!

I was looking for round, reasonably slim heat-proof table mats to use underneath some antique embroidered linen place mats I have. These mats fit the bill perfectly as they are invisible under the linen mats, they prevent the linen mats from slipping around and they protect the surface of my dining room table from hot plates.

These do what they are advertised to do. They hold plates away from the table and prevent scorch marks to the table. They are natural and NOT too thin as some have commented. Would I buy them again. Yes. Not really sure how you can go wromng with these. Delivery was very good - arrived a couple of days earlier than expected.
