Tired of getting sore hot hands on old and inefficient oven gloves, and spurred on by getting a new BBQ for Christmas, I decided to go for these gloves. I am delighted!Home is busy with cooking much of the time, so I have bought two pairs of these really well-designed oven gloves, in red and in black. They are very comfortable on the hand and I could feel absolutely no heat through the glove on handling very hot metal pans and an oven tray used on a high heat. I also retrieved a steaming rack loaded with hot vegetables from within a steam-filled saucepan, and felt no heat at all.The old gloves are all in the bin. The thinness of these gloves belies their insulation efficiency, and allows them to take up far less room in the kitchen cupboards than the older and much more padded oven gloves and mitts.Great design and worth every penny -no more scary moments with hot pans, or worse, from now on -that's worth a lot more than the little extra these cost over and above standard oven gloves.Very highly recommended.AAUPDATE: MARCH 2012, Two months laterThese oven gloves are just the best I've ever had. I have used them heavily over the last two months and can verify for their heat-resistance -even when soaking wet. They have washed well and seem to be durable. The double-sided feature is a boon and very useful when in a rush in the middle of orchestrating a dinner. There's no faddling around to find the glove side when they are hanging up -just plunge your hands in and off you go!Love these gloves.AAUPDATE: JULY 2012, six months laterThese oven gloves have now been through the wash a few times and are wearing well. The cotton towelling loops on the surface have pulled a couple of times, but after cutting, tying down and trimming, no further problems. These are still the best oven gloves I have ever had, and continue to perform as above.Still very satisfied.AAUPDATE MARCH 2015Three years on and still going strong! A few plucks have appeared in the white fabric part, and I've had to sew a loop back on (one end cam unstitched) but considering they have been used every day since arrival, they have done very well indeed.Still highly recommended.AA

My boyfriend, despite his well groomed appearance, has a tendency to be an excellent stress tester of any product. When I met him he already owned a pair of Le Crueset oven gloves, and despite him using them on a range of activities that they were not originally designed for (gardening, DIY, towing his mates car to the garage, welding, games of 'atomic fireball') they remained mostly serviceable. However, over time they had developed the appearance of an oily sock that had been dipped in glue before being dried with a blow torch. Despite his protestation that they were 'fine', it was decided that these were not the best items to convey steaming dishes to cooing guests during dinner parties, and the decision was made to seek a replacement. It was an easy choice to like for like replace - these are made of stern stuff and will clearly provide years of faithful service. He is, overall, very happy with the new purchase, and has mostly stuck to only using them for cooking. For those that are interested, we have released the old pair into the wild, where after a short acclimatisation they have been successful in finding a home in an old badger set.

These are a really practical and good looking pair of oven gloves. They are well insulated and have four pockets, two on each side. This means that you can pick them up and use them without having to find the 'right way round'. Also, if one side gets wet - as can easily happen, you can just use the other side and you won't burn your hands.Unlike many other cheaper gloves where you can find your hands feeling hotter and hotter the longer you hold the dish these gloves have a thickly quilted inner linking and good insulation - yes you can feel a little warmth from a dish straight out of the oven but it isn't hot or uncomfortable. The gloves are a good length end-to-end which means that you have plenty of flexibility when picking up dishes from the oven. They look great - especially when clean, and the Le Cruset label gives you an opportunity to show off to your friends if you leave them hanging over your oven door handle when not in use.

This was just a re-buy of something I already had. We've had the same Le Crueset black/cream oven gloves for many many years now so I knew they'd be great. Very robust and heat protection could not be better. Only replaced them because the old set were starting to look a bit tired but you can expect these to last 10-15 years. It's true the last set were just £12 and these are now £22 but I guess that's inflation for you! Still well worth the cost as you can't buy better quality. (and you get to impress people because your oven gloves say "LeCrueset" so they think you're a professional!! ;-)

I have tried ALL sorts of oven gloves, but these, from Le Creuset, remain my favourite, to date.Just the right thickness for the hottest cast iron pot straight off the hob, out from under the grill or the oven, with a generous 'stretch' between the hands. The double oven gloves, offer great insulation, meeting BS 6526 (1998) and feature a 'special steam and grease barrier for added protection/Teflon® Fabric Protector'.~ 100% cotton canvas and towelling with pockets on both sides of each end~ Pre-shrunk~ Fully washable~ Complete with hanging hookOther colours available.

Not much to say, except that these are proper oven gloves and the double-sided feature is pretty cool as you don't have to mess about getting them the right way round when getting stuff out of the oven. They seem to be fairly good at stopping heat and most importantly they also stop the steam getting through so you can hold stuff for longer. They're slightly stiff initially so it's a bit harder to get a grip, but I found they loosened up fairly quickly. All in all, great value for money, been washed a few times and still keeping it together so definitely recommended.

I purchased these for my brother, after attempting to cook round his and becoming more than frustrated with his excuse for oven gloves. I have always had Le Creuset Oven gloves, and after attempting to use this have affirmation as to why. I also love that your hands just slide into either side of the gloves, so they are very quick to grab and use. Will repurchase if ever needed (i currently have two pairs - one in use and one in the wash cycle), one pair is over 10 years old. So it is unlikely i will ever need to buy again, unless i have an accident.

I really like these oven gloves. They look great (vibrant red, which matches my other red Le Creuset kitchen equipment) and the gloves are very thick and so handling hot things out of the oven is easy. They are thick on both sides too, so you don't need to worry about which way round you put your hands in.Only 4 starts though because I did feel they were quite pricey. They also took a very long time to arrive, maybe three weeks.I haven't washed the gloves yet so can't comment on their durability.

There are some oven gloves of a similar design that are rather short and to get both ends around a casserole dish can be something of a struggle. Not so here! There is a lot of fabric between the two gloves and there cannot be many dishes used in the home that may be too wide for this. Sometimes, the length feels just too great and can actually get in the way. Matters may be improved if the fabric used to join the ends was coarser and stiffer.Reasonably good but not quite perfect.

There are oven gloves and there are Le Creuset oven gloves! These aren't too bulky and actually feel quite thin, but you realise when you use them the material is incredibly well heat protecting so no need to worry - can handle some pretty hot pots straight out of the oven but still be able to feel what you are doing. Very very impressed, just a shame they are so expensive - especially when she ordered 2 pairs (double ovens - I need two). Well suppose you can't fault the logic.

Le Creuset products aren't the cheapest on the market but in my opinon they make some of the best out there. This glove is no exception - it is really well made and works perfectly. You can take oven trays and casserole dishes straight out the oven and comfortably hold them for a period of time without the heat becoming unbearable. Most cheaper gloves don't seem to offer this level of heat protection so I would recommend them whole heartedly

I've just ordered our second one of these. The last one hasn't worn out, is just looking rather well used after two years of being with our Aga. We use the glove everyday and it has a wash regularly. Perhaps it would be better if the glove part was a darker colour but then it doesn't take long to throw it in the wash. I would certainly keep buying this one as I know it does the job and we have had no burns or scalds from using it.
