Galt Toys Fairy Sparkle MosaicsWhat is it?Gault Toys Fairy Sparkle Mosaics is a set of six 'tile' by number coloured pictures with 5000 sticky glitter and foil tiles. The pictures in this set include three fairies, a toadstool house, a butterfly and an owl. What's it for?The pictures when completed are very colourful and glittery. My daughter (8 years of age) often sits down to make mosaic pictures and has had many different sets covering many different themes, even dinosaurs. Gault Toys Fairy Sparkle Mosaics was bought for her by her brother for her birthday and she has completed two fairies and they are hanging on her wall with the others. My daughter has ADHD and I find that the concentrationrequired to peel off the sticky mosaic tiles and place them on the correct number helps her calm down when over excited.Who's it for?Mosaics are great fun for children from about 5 years old and upwards who enjoy craft projects. These types of crafts would also be of help to anyone who has mild problems with their fine motor skills, we have a disabled foster daughter who has problems with her fine motor skills and we have found that when she practices regularly with Gault's Mosaics she finds doing up her buttons on clothing much easier. What's good about it?Very reasonably priced.Beautiful pictures every time.No glue or paints required, so not particularly messy, apart from having to pick up the little bits of paper that seem to appear all over the floor. I find providing a tray solves this problem fairly well. Our daughters and their friends find mosaics fun to do on rainy days. What's bad about it?The only negative I can find is that sometimes the backs of the mosaic sticky pads have not been cut correctly so that you tear the tile when trying to remove the backing. There are usually enough spares. In summing upGalt Toys Fairy Sparkle Mosaics is a simple yet creative and beautiful craft which is fun to do.

This is a nice idea - basically mosaic sticking by numbers. You get a bunch of sponge cards of various colours with small mosaic squares perforated, and some templates/drawings to put them on.Having watched a 5 year old be enthralled and then frustrated I would give the following feedback:- It's shiny, colourful, fun... good- You can fairly quickly get something that it beginning to look impressive- Although there's no glue it is quite fiddly to get the mosaics in the right place, especially for a young child so be patient- You can make your own mosaics afterwards, but it will need a creative adult to create the stencil to stick the mosaics on- The 5 year old in this case did one picture and has shown no interest in it again since (some 3-4 weeks ago). That's not definitive, and it is a small gift, but be aware. Also, the adult needs to explain which colour is which as the foam cards do not have the numbers on there. Curiously there is a sheet which details which colour is which but the colours don't match the actual colours so you are best off choosing your own combination based loosely on what appears on the box itself.Overall, it's a nice gift to give to a young child, and they will enjoy it, but not necessarily for that long.

My 9 year old daughter loves arts and crafts, so this would be aimed to her, so I gave it to her and asked what she thought of it as I watched her play. She loved the craft side. You get 6 cards with a picture on them printed in colour. All over the picture are small white squares with numbers on. The idea is that you peel the small sticker of the big sheet that matches that number and stick it on the card. When done, it reveals a sam-mosaic picture. There are 11 different colour foam sticky back squares that make the final picture, but not every pictures uses all the colours. You should have enough do do the full 6 cards. She liked this and was proud to show the final designs. She said the only thing she did not like was that the glitter squares, when you pulled some of the main sheet, the glitter came away from the corner. Also she did not like that the numbers that tell you what colour is which what number, was only printed on a separate sheet, part of the instructions. It would have been better and easier if there was an indication on the back of the sheets to tell you what number was associated to that colour.

My 7 year old has now completed all of these with the help of a couple of her friends and they look great. It's pretty good value for money as it has taken her quite a long time. Just a couple of things would have made them so much better tho.The cards are all number coded, I was expecting the sheets of mosaic tiles to be number coded too on the backing paper or something as we have had in other sets but there was just a list in the instructions of which number was which colour. Some of the colours are quite similar like lilac and mauve and my daughter was getting confused so I had to lay out the sheets of tiles in number order for her.The main problem however is that all the tiny little tileshave their own individual piece of backing paper which makes them very fiddly to get off and makes a really annoying mess of tiny bits of paper everytime they play with it. If the tiles were on one large sheet of backing paper it would make them much better.

This is a great gift for a child who enjoys creative crafts. You get a board with a colour picture printed on it and white squares with numbers in them to indicate where you should stick each colour tile. I was worried that the sticker backing paper would be too fiddly for a child to remove, but my three year old can manage it quite well. If they stick them in the wrong position, it it usually possible to lift and reposition the sticker. The colours are nice and bright, and the glitter tiles are very pretty. The only downside is the sticker backings get everywhere if you're not careful, and sometimes the odd sticker ends up stuck on the floor or on the furniture. But it's a small price to pay for an entertaining activity on a wet afternoon.

These mosaics are great for kids who love arts and crafts and for parents who don't like the idea of lots of mess to clear up.The pack comes with various designs to create, giving you a template and lots of little shiny sticky squares. All you need to do is stick the squares on the right place. The problem comes with the size of the mosaic pieces, they're tiny and sticky and this often means some will go astray once taken off the sheet. However, properly supervised, this is a fun activity where kids can either follow instructions or create their own designs with different colours and feel like they have something nice to show from it.

My daughter (aged 6) loved these so much, she spent hours after hours, day after day sticking these little squares on. She loved the pictures, and the little mosaic squares were all glittery and shiny foil, she completely fell in love with this set.One really annoying drawback - the machine that punched the squares into the sticky-backed sheets also punched through the backing paper, which means the whole table and all of the floor ends up covered in little white squares of backing paper. REALLY ANNOYING! Loads of tidying and vacuuming to be done after EVERY time my daughter plays with this.

Gave these to my god daughter - aged 6. She was thrilled to bits, immediately set to making one and then made me make one. For me - super fiddly and annoying but it was lovely to see how much she enjoyed being able to make lovely sticker pictures. She had to concentrate quite hard to make sure she had the right tiles (it works a bit like paint by numbers) but really liked the challenge. I recommend this - might need a bit of help from a bigger kid / adult if they are under say 7 but lovely sparkly results and great value for money given the pleasure they produce!

This is a lovely activity for children, simple to do and the results are quick enough that it keeps them interested. My 6 year old loved making these mosaics. However, as well as the cards, the kit contains about a squillion little sticky coloured squares that turn up in the most unusual places and adhere themselves to any surface (especially skin) with the sort of strength that only dried Weetabix and milk can boast. As long as you can keep the stickers in order it's a lovely kit. However, I guarantee you'll be finding them around the house for years...

This is a great value set for little girls with an interest in art and craft. You get six, decent sized picture cards and 12 sheets of the stickers. You can either follow the recommended colour scheme, or just create your own colour scheme. The stickers are self adhesive so no glue required, but you can get in quite a mess anyway, with stickers all over the place!!!My niece had a fantastic time creating these pictures and was so proud of the pictures she produced, I shall definitely be buying more.

I was a little surprised when my 4 year old got this for her birthday as it looked a bit fiddly. However I was very pleasantly surprised, both my 4 year old and her 6 year old sister sat happily working away for 45 mins. They produced beautiful pictures which they were really pleased with. They wrote on the backs of the pictures and gave them away as presents to special friends. They asked to make more mosaics a few days later and again seemed happy and motivated to finish their pictures.

Considering that this kit consists of six picture cards and 5000 self adhesive shiny coloured foam backed squares just how much entertainment value can this give. Well it kept my five year old granddaughter and her grandmother entertained for the half hour it took them to do two of the cards. Think of it as stick by numbers. My wife; her grandmother, said it was strangely therapeutic!I imagine that a child with a short attention span would not find it so however.

Bought this as a gift for a friend's 6 year old who loved it and spent a long time working on it straight away. Easy to follow instructions and create nice art that the children were proud of. It was quite peaceful for a while too while they concentrated on it!There are lots and lots of little bits to it though so you will need a storage box or something or I would imagine you will be finding them for days!

After a high-pitched squeal on seeing this, my daughter ran off with this before coming down a while later with her work in progress to show how good it was looking already, and then kept herself occupied finishing the rest as quickly as possible. She really likes the idea,e the designs, and found it really easy to do. I'd definitely buy more, although they are clearly just aimed at relatively young kids
