Absolutely beautiful dressing up doll set, the quality is what you would expect from Melissa & Doug, very durable and nicely printed images. The box is very sturdy and weighty (If buying as a present ensure the wrapping paper is good quality as the corners kept ripping through my cheap stuff!) with different sections for the items, sadly, as other reviewers have mentioned, there is no lid which as far as I can see is the only fault with this product. If your child is old enough or fastidious enough to put this away properly then this would not be that much of an issue but as my daughter is three and rather wild this is quite the problem and loses it a star unfortunately (I would put it as 4.5 if I could but I just can't round it up to the five).

With two wooden dolls, complete with stands, plus loads and loads of accessories, this provides hours of fun for children. Abby and Emma slot neatly into the wooden stands and children can dress them in shirts, skirts, jackets, dresses, swimming costumes and all kinds of matching shoes, hats, etc. The pieces are all well made; the wood smooth and the colours bright.The toy pieces come in a large, wooden tray and needs to be stored flat. If you have a huge array of empty, wooden shelves, this is fine. Most of us, however, don't. If this tray came with a lid, it would be perfect. I used cling film to make sure the pieces are not lost; but even if you did have a shelving unit to store this in,

I have just bought one of these for the second time. The first was a birthday gift for my 3 year-old niece and she loved it. Any little girl who likes clothes, dolls and dressing up is going to get hours of fun out of this set. Which is why I've just bought a second one as a birthday gift for another little girl :)I would caution that if buying for a child as young as 3 you would probably want to supervise play, just because some of the pieces (shoes etc) are tiny and could be be swallowed. And, like other customers, I am frustrated that this doesn't have a lid! The box is heard-wearing and sturdy, but the lack of a lid means that you will probably end up using a plastic kitchen box to store it so that pieces don't get lost.Overall though,

I saw my friend's little girl playing with it and thought it was great. Brought me back to when I was small and used to use the cardboard cut-out version with bend back tabs, I would have loved this one!I bought 3 of them for presents and they all absolutely adored them and got hours of fun with them.Its nice that there is 2 dolls to dress so that they can play with a friend. They are very well made and sturdy. The only thing is that there is no proper lid so the parts need to be stored in a box seperately which is a pity.Also the description on Amazon should include the age suitability as it says on the box 3 years+.

THis little magnetic dress up set is adorable. My 2 and half year old little girl loves Billy. She enjoys dressing him up in different outfits and making up her own story about Billys adventures as a Pirate, A Fireman, A knight, A Super hero and a builder. Its a lovely little toy. My younger child likes to pull stickers and put pieces in mouth which can leave it looking worn. Have had to make special time for my daughter to play with him.. A nice toy which Im sure my son will enjoy when he gets a bit bigger. Its nice to see a male version of this kind of toy. I would agree that if there were a lid for box it would prevent pieces getting lost.

Purchased as part of five year old granddaughter's fifth birthday gifts. Really lovely toy with excellent finish with bright colours and great box. Again, as a second purchase of a similar toy - no lid with box which was most disappointing and would have made the purchase of the toy perfect. Everyone knows small items go missing even when children are being very careful and it is upsetting for them to look for shoes etc. and find they are missing.All all other respects delighted with the purchase and Rosa is too which was the main object of the purchase simply to give her fun with a wee friend - hence buying the double doll box.Perhaps the manufacturer could be approached to add even a perspex

Bought as a Christmas present for my five year old daughter, so she hasn't seen it yet but I'm positive that she's going to love this! Bigger than expected, in a lovely wooden box. Only downside is there is no lid for the box, which means some of the peices might get lost. Seems a shame to keep them in a Tupperware box as the wooden box for this really is lovely. Good variety of clothes and accessories. Such a nice gift to give, especially for those children who "have everything". I can't see any little girl not liking this! Given it 5 stars as i got it on the lightening deals at a reduced price so don't feel I can complain for the price I paid.

This toy is really great, the pieces are solid, especially the figures and thier bases. The box they come in is great. The only problem i have with this toy is that there is no lid to the box! It arrived in its own wooden box with different compartments for all the pieces but was simply wrapped with plastic instead of having a lid, so once it was opened there is no way to properly close it. This is a massive design floor for people like me who have three kids aged, 5, 2 and 1. The pieces are constanly being spread around the room! We bought a similar product by melissa and doug with teddy bears which had a fantastic wooden box and lid, why this box didnt have the same i dont know!

I bought this for my niece, it looks great and I'm really happy with the value for money I got. Initially there was a problem with the delivery but Amazon cleared this up and sent a new item without any quibble which was great. I just have 1 issue like many of the other reviewers - why is there no lid to to box? It seems a shame to replace a wooden box with a zipped pencil-case which I will probably need to use to keep all the pieces together - I'd be happy to do this if the item had come in a cardboard or cheaper box but it seems such a waste to throw out the wooden option. I don't think this will be an issue for my niece though so overall the item is a great product.

Much sturdier that I'd expected which is ideal for the intended age group. Melissa and Doug are at the top end of what I'm willing to pay for these types of toys but they are very well made and durable. So as usual, you get what you pay for.My only gripe, and I know that many others have pointed it out, is that the box comes shrink wrapped so once it's open there's no lid to keep the contents together.Come on Melissa and Doug, even if you don't think it's necessary you're customers clearly do. Why produce such a lovely product only to hear that people tip them into flimsy containers so that the pieces don't get lost?

This was purchased on behalf of our son for his five year old niece's birthday and it was excellent in all features bar one - the lack of a "lid" on the box most disappointing as there were many small parts which could easily go missing.However, the finish, colour and smooth edges and the overall design and the box itself is highly recommended. Just a pity about the lack of the container being fully enclosed.However, I went on to purhase another Dress up Doll set for another five year old granddaughter which is recommendation.

grandaughter (3 years) greatly enjoyed making up stories that involved multi outfit changes, It appears solid and well made with no sharp edges. There are matching outfits for both of the dolls, so they both can be dressed for the beach or for a party etc. the magnets are strong enough for several layers of clothing to be attached at one time. The box was also useful to store the items in, but would have really benefited from a re-attachable lid, It would have also been fun if the hair styles could be changed.

If only there was a lid for the box. To provide a substantial and attractive wooden storage box with no lid seems very silly! My two little granddaughters (two and four) play with the set every time they visit. The magnets could do with being stronger as they easily drop off when the doll is standing up. They often try to put tights underneath a skirt but of course the magnets are not strong enough to go through two layers.Having said all that, the play set is very well made as are all Melissa & Doug toys.

I got this for my 4 year old and she absolutely loved it, she has grown a bit bored of it but I think that is expected from small children, she took this to school for "toy day" and it was adored and played with by many. Great toy.Pros:- made from durable wood, and a good size- nice storage box to put everything away in- can be expanded with the other dress-up sets from Melissa & Doug- great for imaginative playI'd say the only con is that the box doesn't have a lid so can small bits can be lost.

My friend from work said how much her grandaughter in OZ had enjoyed a similar product, some " girls" will remember the days when we used to cut the dolls and clothes out and then the tabs broke and the clothes kept falling off!!Well not with this. I took it to Moscow as a birthday present for a little girl I didn't know and who didn't speak English. She loved it and played and played. My friend found one in a bag so this one in the box was rather heavy but as I travel light I was still under weight.
